I'm off to a bbq today and people will wonder why I'm not drinking. I'm saying that I'm driving to see family after. Must make sure my meat is well cooked too. My DH had a 'do' on Friday and he was completley bladder (I had to support him on the way home) I woke up the next morning and had a headache and still felt tired. All the pain with NONE of the joy while he was fine. No fair!!!

LittleMissExcited24 · 01/05/2011 10:16

H007 Congrats on scan date and booking in appt. Are you in London because I'm now 11 weeks and haven't had a date for either! It's driving me crazy and am going to have to chase the doctor up AGAIN tomorrow to see what's going on. Just wondering if it's a London thing.

Think that if I don't get a date soon I'll have a private scan just for peace of mind.

voodoomunkee · 01/05/2011 10:51

Morning all. Sorry to hear people's sad news.
Am nearly ready to go back to work as am kind of sick of all this time off (feels like the longest two weeks of my life!). Kids back to school tuesday and me back to work so no doubt by Friday I will be utterly sick and ready for the weekend!

Hoping to finally get a scan date as am 13 weeks 2moro and STILL haven't got one! Not feeling great as am starting to think this is all a bit of a dream....may feel better when have scan.

Feeling a bit selfish too as 2 jobs that would have been ideal and my dream areas of work have come up this week and there is absolutely no point in applying for them as they both start September. Sorry for being a bit :( and having a wee rant but heyho.

Hope everyone is enjoying some sunshine and chilled out Sunday feeling!

Staceroo · 01/05/2011 12:10

Hi All!

Welcome Pam and Clock!

Congratulations on good news Chip Hills Knocked up Imbrian and Lizzy (that's a nice long list, but so so happy to see good news coming through again!

LK hope you're are finding yourself a little more relaxed now. I am ion the same boat as Lizzy and we did not opt for any of the tests, as we wouldn't do anything about the results either way, and I thoughtknowing before hand wouldn't make it any easier, we would just be stressed during pregnancy which we didn't want.

Voodo I would definately be on the phone to someone if I didn't have my scan booked yet at 13 weeks!

We've had a lovely weekend, had a fab street party on Friday for the wedding, with 180 people there, and managed to get through that and another bbq that evening without being quizzed for not drinking! As fortunately I hd to drive between the two parties!

Then yesterday we had a "pidgeon coop dismantelling bbq"! Which basically involved all the boys taking down a huge pidgeon coop in our garden, the ladies sunbathing and me being head chef! Got through that without any questions on not drinking too! As luckily so many people were still hungover from the previous day, everyone assumed I was too!

It's a shame scan isn't until tues as we had so many friends and family around this weekend, it would have been great to tell them all! As it is we'll be making a lot of phonecalls tuesday evening as lojng as everything is OK!

Am really starting to worry about scan, although I've no reason to I know, as I still feel pg, I've had no bleeding at all etc! But can't help worry!

I did tell my boss on Thursday and she wasn't at all angry like i though she would be! She was genuinely happy for us! SO panicked for no reason!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend all!

voodoomunkee · 01/05/2011 12:20

Staceroo, mw seemed to think it was no problem Hmm and that it would definitely be done by 14 n a bit weeks. What with that and the fact that she really made me worried about where I wanted to have the baby I havent come away feeling very positive :(

PamSco · 01/05/2011 12:27

Hospital tried to book me in for 1st formal scan at 16 weeks as no space sooner (I was about 8 weeks at the time). I kicked up a fuss and got one at 12.5 weeks (on Tues). First mw booking appt was going to be about week 20 as well??? Again, I said that wasn't good enough and got a next day appt 2 weeks ago. Need to make your voice heard - reasonably.

Poppet45 · 01/05/2011 12:44

I agree with PamSco on this one, and I never cause a fuss normally. If they do your scan at 14 and a bit weeks you can't have the nuchal test done as its too late. I think? I never had it last time, but I thought it was pretty much standard round the country now.
H007 I will join you in the rock and roll lifestyle once I'm reassured by our scan on Thursday. Then I'll commence knitting bunny a blanket. I quilted a gorgeous one (modest moi?) for DS but sadly just don't have the sofa time this time round!

Staceroo · 01/05/2011 20:24

Wow quiet here today! Only 3 posts to read since my last one 8 hours ago! Shock

poppet You say nuchal scan pretty standard, we weren't offered one here in south wales! Not that I'd want it anyway!

Good luck for scan thursday! Mines tuesday!

I'm mid way through making a peter rabbit rug! I can't knit, but I know my MIL has got more than a couple of white cardigans on the way! The rug is a latch hook one and will no doubt dicate the theme for the nursery!

Poppet45 · 01/05/2011 21:29

Nuchal certainly wasn't standard when I was pregnant with DS in the SE of England in 2009, we would have had to pay £170 or so at the time, however its free up here and standard (in Scotland) but I think that's a recent change, hells bells friends of mine were telling me up here it used to be either 12 week scan or 20 week anomaly scan in Lothians to save cash :O And yes it sure is quiet!
The rug sounds gorgeous! My knitting is somewhat basic - however I did manage to make DS a Christmas stocking so am getting a bit better at it. Will still keep it simple though.

voodoomunkee · 01/05/2011 21:53

Very quiet! My excuse is that I feel grotty so have gone to bed to read. Came down for a drink and some company lol. Been looking at going to a different hospital. Not that it will hurry along the scan like! However this one does the testing slightly differently so feel it may be a worthwhile change. Also can pay for a 4d scan at this other hospital but probably won't as am skint!

cookie9 · 02/05/2011 07:19

Waves to Staceroo - hello my bump buddy. Yes my scan is tomorrow too and quite nervous although still feeling the grotty effects of pregnancy so think I must still be pregnant. Scan is at 9.00 so hopefully they will be on time. Not sure if I get bloods on the same day - fingers crossed I do so can decide whether to have tests.

Hi Vodoomunkee - would chase up your appointments as seems a long time to be waiting. Which area are you in? IF it is one that does NT then you need that before week 14. Good luck.

MS slowly going but replaced with round liagament pain which is almost as bad. Seems to be worse at night and a nightmare if I sneeze or cough in bed. A hot bath is meant to help but am hardly going to get out of bed at 3.00 am to run one!

Anyone starting to show yet? My belly button is sticking out more and my belly is more rounded - DH thinks it is baby or I have been over eating! I am also going to have to get measure for a new bra as existing ones are digging in a bit and giving me a double boob effect!

voodoomunkee · 02/05/2011 07:39

Hi Cookie, am in the North East, as far as I can tell one hospital (the one I was planning on going to) offers the older test whereas the one I am considering changing to offers the nuchal. Going to ring the midwife tomorrow and ask her to chase up scans and probably ask her to change me to the other hospital. Probably going to get something along the lines of 'OOO well that might be difficult', but am past caring as this is stressing me out somewhat!

Also yes am showing. I have a Huge bump for being 13 weeks but I think it is cos it is my 3rd lol. Anyone else feel like that?

Would be nice just to have this scan so I could tell work etc.

cookie9 · 02/05/2011 07:54

Good luck with the hospital change Voodoomunkee. I had to tell my work unofficially early on as was off work with bad ms. Only the head and my immediate boss who were both very supportive and understood why I didn't want to go official that early on. As a result managed to avoid PE cover and not be taken for cover first thing as was often sick then. Just went official last week as I am sure people will be commenting on the fact I have missed a few days with doc appointments and ms.

I need to think about what to wear to work. At the moment I have a couple of dress which work well but my skirts are just too tight by the end of the day and my wrap dress cling to the bump which is not ideal as although I have put in my formal letter I don't really want everyone to see the bump yet. Going to a friend's birthday party on Saturday so have nice pleated dress from Zara which should be good. Heaven help me for friend's wedding in August when I am 7 months!

Folicacid · 02/05/2011 08:20

Hey cookie and staceroo my scan is tomorrow too, not until the afternoon though. I'm feeling very nervous...

voodoomunkee · 02/05/2011 08:28

Thanks Cookie, I am sure that it will be fine. Have asked Dp to help me out (explained about how pg makes me wibbly and unable to speak up at times!) so he is going to support me as much as he can and is generally very calm cool and collected and can ask for things reasonably!

OOO the clothing dilemma! Am still in work trousers (just out of jeans) and I can wear leggings for work if I want, however I am going to invest in some bump bands and see how they help as have to wear smart stuff every so often. I have been wearing loose tops which so far seems to be ok. My immediate boss and colleagues know as I had to tell them in case I had a scan and as I work with kids and needed risk assessing with holiday activities (trips to the farm and so - on). My bump is definitely rib height - I seriously look about 6 months! I wouldnt worry to much when you are 7 months as by then you will be wearing clothes that show it off and you can get some lovely dresses etc!

Good luck with scan tomorrow Folic, sending you lots of lovely happy squidgey baby thoughts (and to all those that have scans as well!)

Folicacid · 02/05/2011 08:37

Thanks voodoo Smile

Clothes wise: I've been wearing leggings and tops for work, although need to branch out a bit. I have still been wearing my normal jeans, but yesterday had to buy a stretchy skirt in the supermarket when doing the shopping as I really can't bear to wear my jeans any longer. I had a squizz in my local NEXT for maternity clothes and there wasn't much choice so didn't get anything.

What shops are good for maternity gear?

voodoomunkee · 02/05/2011 08:56

I dont know which shops are good as tbh I won't really be spending my hard earned in them! I dont often pay some of the prices that I have seen for non preggers clothes! I will be heading to a cheap shop or ebay and buying things that might last the next few months! I may invest in some leggings and maybe some vest tops. After that it will be sales all the way! From what I remember of the previous 2 I tended to wear a lot of stretchy trousers and some longline tops!

cookie9 · 02/05/2011 09:44

Friends told me H&M ans Zara are not too bad. Don't want to spend much as will only be wearing them for a short time. Some websites have very expensive things - over £100 for a blouse!!! Won't be shopping on them. Hoping during the summer I can wear some of my maxi dresses. Come autumn will be a pair of jeans, long vests and cardigans.

voodoomunkee · 02/05/2011 09:53

£100!!! Crikey!!! I have 2 lovely maxi dresses and one wrap around that will probably be getting used especially as I have a black tie thing to go to in July. Primark or Peackocks for me!

H007 · 02/05/2011 10:06

I had a nose in the mamas and papas store we have at the outlet village I was pleasantly surprised by some of the prices there seems you could pick up a pair of trousers for a tenner and a coat for around 25.

mashpot · 02/05/2011 11:43

Hi all,

Good luck all with scans tomorrow - lots of you! Mine is on Wednesday morning. I am so nervous but can't wait to get it over with, whatever happens. Every time me and DH talk about future plans, holidays etc, we keep saying hopefully I'll be 6 months pregnant etc - I want to be able to drop the word hopefully!

I got up early this morning and have done a massive house clean - including the oven - that never happens. Now just enjoying a nice cup of green tea with a cookie I baked yesterday. Rock n' roll here too - I must learn to knit now!

Enjoy the last day of hols.

mashpot · 02/05/2011 11:45

Oh, also meant to say that ASOS looks like it has a decent maternity section, not too expensive but I don't know about buying maternity clothes online without being able to try on.

I have the tiniest of bumps (or am I imagining it??) but by the evening I look loads bigger - why does the bump grow so much during the day and then disappear over night?

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 02/05/2011 12:17

My bump keeps disappearing overnight as well mashpot, weird isn't it?! I also know what you mean about the word "hopefully", I just can't bring myself not to say it just yet. I keep thinking that by the end of May I will be more settled, having had my official NHS scan, knowing the official due date, and the bump will stay all day... hopefully. I can't wait to have a bump, I've always been very skinny (size 6 at 5'6") and putting on weight is a real novelty for me! I have already changed shape, my waist is 4 inches bigger(!) so no clothes fit, but it has a long way to go before anyone notices. None of my clothes fit though... I've been buying loose fitting size 10 stuff from tesco, which I think will probably do me until the summer holidays at school, but I don't know really, since I've never done this before!

PamSco · 02/05/2011 12:22

Good luck to all this week's scanners! I'm tomorrow afternoon and I then speak to the fetal medicine consultant re amnio.

Not too nervous as I had an early scan at 8 weeks and the wee thing was beating away.

Re bump - I'm overweight so all my clothes have just got baggier! As soon as I found out I was pg (week 2) I stopped the beer and naughty foods so I've actually lost belly and bum fat. My weight hasn't changed much I guess there is a wee bit of baby weight and a heck load more blood but all clothes are baggier! Hope mw doesn't chastise me - I'm not dieting at all, eating as much fruit, veg and lean meat as I can, ms allowing.

voodoomunkee · 02/05/2011 15:15

My bump is biggest at night too. Although it is definitely there the rest of the time too.

Think we will all feel better when we have had the scans - its just the waiting! This is at the start and the end too!

So what number baby is everyone having?
