LK I really feel for you, and admire how together you seem to be. I'm not having the NT or bloods for Downs because they never give you entirely accurate results, and even if a baby has Downs it is a graduated scale, with most babies growing up into functioning adults in society. I would never consider a termination, so really there is no need to worry prematurely. If it happens, it happens. I know that is probably no comfort, but before all these tests existed people used to have the same risks and never know it. Most people, even with a high risk go on to have totally healthy babies.
Congratulations on good scans Hils and knockedup. I had a scan yesterday, and was very excited to see the little wriggler. I don't know what I thought I was going to see, but a fully formed tiny little thing made my heart swell! Especially when my husband gasped with surprise as soon as it came on the screen
Has anyone got any temporary names for their baby to avoid calling it 'it'? Ours is called Weetabix following my Grandad accidentally suggesting it as a name... When my family were discussing possible names, without his ears in he thought we were talking about cereals, and he said "I like Weetabix". We were all laughing at him so much that it stuck! My Mum says that I was Fido and my brother was Felix until we were born! I'm not planning to find out the sex until the birth, so its good to not worry about saying he or she.
Anyone with upcoming appointments or scans, I wish you the best of luck. We really are coming to a nerve wracking time aren't we! It won't be long until we can relax in the relative calm of the second trimester.
