[busmile] happy bank holiday weekend!

BuffyFan · 22/04/2011 14:53

Wow you guys have been chatty! Welcome joiners - I'm a part-time lurker, part-time poster!

Great to hear such good news about scans (except the £170, obviously!). Mine's not till 10th May, which seems forever away. I'll be 12weeks on the dot though, so I suppose it's bang on.

Still feeling like none of this is real, especially as queasiness seems to be easing. If I didn't feel like I need a nap every afternoon, and if I wasn't switching between ravenous and totally off my food, I would really start to wonder if I was dreaming.

I know it's not a cheerful subject but is it possible to mc without any symptoms? So scared I'll turn up at the scan to find bean hasn't grown / isn't there, but I've nothing wrong to tell the mw so am trying not to act like a crazy person.

I mentioned a desire for dried mango this pm and dh offered to go off to the shops for me, bless him! That would be cruel on Good Friday afternoon though when everybody'll be out shopping for bbqs.

Off to see friends tomorrow so fx the weather holds! [busmile] Really hope this doesn't turn into a blisteringly hot summer though... [buhmm]

BuffyFan · 22/04/2011 15:55

OK, so I'm a fool. Just made a batch of cupcakes and then licked the bowl. Getting this pregnancy thing right is hard Blush

Staceroo · 22/04/2011 16:51

Oh buffy dont be silly! I'm a a paranoid eater too... but the odd mistake is not going to matter that much! I forgot to wash some mushrooms before putting them in my chilli the other day!

Well I've been missing for a few days, and just read through about 4 pages of posts to catch up!

I've been off work all week, and enjoying the glorious weather! Me and DH had a brilliant day at Barry Island for his birthday Tuesday, had some lovely walks to the pub, went oput for tapas last night which was beautiful, yet for some reason, I couldn't swallow my last mouthful of meatball, and thought I was gonna throw up right in the middle of the restaurant! (THankfully I didn't!).

Weathers not been as great today, still warm, but not the 26 degrees we've had in the week! Which kind of makes me chuckle a little because, now everyone else is off work the sun has gone in! [bugrin].

Bought some new pillows today, cos really struggling to get comfy when I sleep. I normally sleep on my front, but since my boobs have swollen from a B to a D I can't do that. So sleeping on my side, which is really twisting my back! Don't know what to do, but got new pillows, so gonna try using my old pillows to lean into as I sleep or something! God knows what it'll be like when I have a bump too!

Well done on scans everyone, nice to have good news all round now! (Except the bill dirge [bushock] ) Can't wait for mine, 3rd May! No Nuchal scan here though as far as I know, was offered the blood test followed by amneo if we wanted it, but decided there was no point as it wouldn't change anything for us.

Terry any news on your urine test results? I had a similar thing with my blood test, note through the door stating 'unusual results', which turned out to be high potassium levels. Just had a retest done this week, and waiting for any bad news that may come. But if it is a problem, it'll be with me and my kidneys not with the bean!

Ooops... just seen how much I've written! Hope everyone has a nice easter weekend, and hope the sun stays out! FX for everyones tests and scans!

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 22/04/2011 17:25

Afternoon all,

bump hope you are feeling a little better, I've been feeling worse in the last couple of days too, but am trying to take some comfort that it's because the baby is getting bigger and all the hormones are getting stronger and that really soon things will definitely get better, that's my hope anyway.

BuffyFan · 22/04/2011 18:58

I know I'm being silly - it just makes me laugh how easy it is to get it wrong just by not thinking about it...

Just got a cryptic message from a friend which I think means she's pg too - fx!!!

TwoJackRussells hope you feel better [busad]

H007 · 22/04/2011 20:13

Hello just thought I'd check in again had a mixed week, left work early last Friday as I had a killer headache about two hours later started vomiting every 10/20mins I felt awful and went to bed at 8pm :( this was also the day before we were suppose to go on holiday. I felt so bad my mum bless her had to pack my suitcase. Luckily I woke up feeling tons better at 3am to catch our flight to Italy. I was petrified about the plane and ms but luckily everything was fine. The Italian way of life and food really suited my ms and haven't been sick since we flew out :) it was either the pasta or the ms bands anyway!

So now I'm back to Blighty and back to feeling rubbish and back to the waiting game!

Hope everyone is doing well.... I'm going on the Italian diet for the rest of the 1st trimester :)

Poppet45 · 22/04/2011 20:56

Sorry to hear about your ms H007, I don't know about the Italian food but I bet the change of pace did you loads of good. I'm finding my ms is definitely abating generally but it is worse on days when I'm stressed out... so whenever DS is feeling like testing those toddler boundaries I suffer! This week he's learned to climb all the ladders at our playpark, so where once it was a sedate push on the swings and a gentle go down the slide, now he's skittering around the tops of all the climbing frames and debating whether to chuck himself off the monkey bars or firemen's pole. And he's 20 months so either would be a disaster, hence I've found myself climbing up the sodding climbing frames too then trying to climb down with a furious shrieking tantrum in tow. Not quite the 'taking it easy' first trimester advice I recall from my first pregnancy. Grin
Finally had my booking appointment. It was wonderful and so cathartic. Poor lovely mw asked about my first birth so the floodgates opened and we talked through it all. She was great, she went through my original notes and eplaned bits I hadn't understood, she agreed DS sounded wrongly dated and v overdue and was really positive about what we can do to change thins this time. She's said because of my post partum haemorrhage a hospital birth would be her advice. I said that was just fine by me too as I don't have a HDU or blood bank in my kitchen Grin, she warned they'll push and push me to go to the obstetrics route for delivery because of it too but she'd be happy for me to be on the midwife led unit. She pointed out it's just across the corridor from the consultant led unit anyway if things start getting 'interesting' again, and tbh if they moved me straight there after the birth to make sure it doesn't happen again I'd be fine with that, I'm just not prepared to labour in there if I don't have to. Best of all she was wonderfully supportive about the whole issue of scar monitoring. She actually brought it up and said my best chance of a vaginal delivery is if I keep upright and active and am not strapped to a bed surrounded by monitors. She suggested an intermittant monitoring compromise with dopplers and said - god bless her - it was all negotiable! I couldn't have asked for more, if I can go on the MLU and don't need CFM I can labour in water again. And even though I was sceptical when I climbed into the tub it was water that got me to 7cm with no drugs. Of course she also warned that if I arrived at the hospital with meconium in my waters all bets are off and the docs take over, so we'll just see what fate has in store. Now I just have to hope that this isn't the classic midwife/clinician divide and my consultant doesn't look utterly appalled and disapproving about my foolish dangerous birthing ideas when we have our meeting together sometime in the net 30 weeks or so.

chipmonkey · 22/04/2011 22:05

Poppet, so glad you got a lovely midwife! She did give you great advice. I was stuck on a bed being monitored for my attempted VBAC with ds2 and I'm sure it was my undoing.

Spent the afternoon at MILs with SIL and her two kids who are the same age as ds3 and ds4. We had a lovely afternoon chatting and talking about wedding outfits for our other SIL who is getting married in July. SIL had bought some gorgeous shoes in Aldo and is ordering a fab dress so I am quite Envy about it as I already have a bump and by July will have to have a maternity dress. I am probably going to order something from here as the wedding is going to be quite posh and nothing in mothercare is quite as glam! But I'm too paranoid to order anything until 14 weeks.

busyboysmum · 22/04/2011 22:35

Chip what are you doing to me with that website? What fab dresses, and I've seen a lovely top on there that I so do not need!!

chipmonkey · 23/04/2011 00:24

They are lovely, aren't they?Grin The only trouble is, I am a little worried about ordering something off a website without trying it on. Some colours make me look washed out and it can be hard to tell beforehand. I'm sure you can send them back but would prefer not to have to.

Norfolkbumpkin · 23/04/2011 06:46

Can't sleep, woke up at 5.45 this morning. Had period pain-like cramps the past couple of days. Could be something, could be nothing. I don't want to wish the holiday weekend away but I cannot wait for my 12 week scan next wednesday so that I can finally get things confirmed either way. Just feeling really pessmistic atm as had mc at 11 weeks last year, and the ms/sore boobs have gone over the past week or so (along with my confidence). God I am a miserable sod this morning.....must cheer up as it's dh's birthday and he is expecting breakfast in bed. Think positive thoughts woman!

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 23/04/2011 06:52

Morning all,

thanks buffy, I was so tired last night and feeling so ill that soon as I picked up DH I had a little cry about it all, hormones eh?!?

Went to bed super early and feel a lot better this morning, there is a new wool shop and a new fabric shop just opened in Perth so going to have a right good mooch around there, although can't spend much, can dream :D

chip, those are really lovely clothes, too expensive for me though, but they are lovely, am sure that you will find something really really nice to wear for the wedding and I guess you just have to embrace the bump, you'll be glowing at that stage :D

FX that everyone has a nice day today, enjoy the sun

cep · 23/04/2011 08:09

norfolk the placenta kicks in around 9-10 weeks and that tends to be when most symptoms start calming down. good luck for wednesday.

poppet so glad the midwife visit went well.

i woke up yesterday with a cold, and a awful phlemy cough, coughing up loads of brown gunk. (sorry tmi) feeling pants, have dss for 2 nights this weekend, so likely to be busy. oh and i'm 12 weeks today. Grin just hope bean is still ok when i have my scan on the 5th.

pookypup · 23/04/2011 08:55

Congratulations Cep :) (about 12 weeks, not the cough) mine is on the 4th - at 13 weeks. Can't believe we have to wait so long.

I'm craving larger shandy in this weather, and have been experimenting with alcohol free beers. Does anyone know of a good one? Cobra was a bit weird tasting!

voodoomunkee · 23/04/2011 10:29

Hi everyone, just wanted to say hello, send happy thoughts and wish everyone a great weekend! Am waiting for mw appt's but think am about 12 weeks (ish). Haven't had any scans but have booking appt on weds and she is going to ring hospital to get me a quick scan as she is worried time is ticking on for scans!

Trying to shake off an evil cold which has got me lying low end of the week and seems determined to hang on and ruin my long weekend ...

lktoday5 · 23/04/2011 10:54

norfolk i had exactly the same and then my best friend pointed out that my bump had suddenly appeared - and im about the same dates as you - think it could be uterus rising?

hello all, have been away in the sunshine for a week and goodness you've all been chatty (busmile). came back to my 12 week scan this morning, and despite baby being upside down when they started (and blatantly not wanting to wake up) we got there eventually (with lots of cute hands-over-face 'no paparazzi' type action) ....all looks fine, dating 12 weeks spot on (I thought i was 11 + 6 so got it pretty much right) and now due Nov 5th.

i thought it only fair to treat myself to a blueberry muffin in celebration and am now breathing a huuuuuge sigh of relief .......

sunhiney wishes to you all

Poppet45 · 23/04/2011 11:47

Chipmonkey Ooh i was looking atTiffany Rose dresses for my dear twin sisters' wedding, as its a real big deal for me, and we have another wedding a month later with a totally different group of people so I could get some more use out of it. I've dithered too because its' such a lot of money for an outfit I won't get to try on before I buy and I have no idea what sort of shape I'll be in (literally) in a couple of months time.
Pookypup I always found Cobra alcohol free beer vile - Becks Blue is really good, and Bavaria Wheat Beer is lovely!

alicat10 · 23/04/2011 12:13

Wow what a busy few days :)

Great scan news Dirge, Terrys, Blue, Littlefirsttimer, Knitter & Mrs A and great MW news Poppet & Buzz!

Welcome voodoomunkee, norfolkbumpkin, Lilpud!

Butty we went to friends house for dinner on Wed night and I ate the chicken liver stuffing without even thinking about it - whoops

Staceroo - have you tried the really long bean bag pillows - great for spawling over in bed and then brill as a feeding cushion later

I had my consultant appt on Wed and that went really well (apart from someone reversing into me in the carpark and it running an hour and a quarter late). All very cathartic really as spoke a bit about my previous experiences and was interested to learn that they are classing both previous babies as growth restricted. They are going to see me every 4 weeks from 20 weeks for a scan and chat so all very reassuring.

My friend's funeral is Tuesday so I had to rearrange my Oscar - miraculously they had a cancellation for Wed as I don't think my nerves would have coped with much of a delay.

Right must go and do something constructive with the day (had a huideous headache yesterday so ended up in bed from 7pm - 9am and now feel like the weekend is slipping away...)

Take care all and have fun in the sun

lktoday5 · 23/04/2011 17:27

oooh chip you've just sorted my 'what do i wear for my bil wedding, summer mess ball and potentially my registry office wedding' all in one go THANK YOU

Folicacid · 23/04/2011 19:44

hey all,

I'm in bed with laptop, thought I'd check in with you guys. Have been on the go since early this morning and visitors since around 11 til 6, so i'm headachey and shattered. Encouraged OH to go out to the pub with family so have place to self for a nap and a gas with you lot!

The only non alchy beer I've had is one Beck's blue. I'd say it was okay pooky but really not like ordinary. Weird aftertaste I thought. Mind you, I haven't tried any others though so can't compare.

I have a wedding to go to in August. I'm kinda dreading it really as will be surrounded by impossibly glam WAG types smoking and drinking and I'm going to feel like a big sober heifer.

9 days til scan now...boobs are so sore still that this is reassuring me. Fingers crossed.

have a good night!

pookypup · 23/04/2011 21:37

poppet and folic will give Becks blue a go then, thank you [busmile]

Can totally sympathise with you too Folic 9pm seems to be my new bed time these days! Make sure you treat yourself to nails and hair for the wedding, that goes a long way to helping every girl feel glam.

Poppet45 · 23/04/2011 22:41

Folicacid I too am feeling your glam wedding pain as I have two this summer. My sister's wont be so bad as it will be down to earth and full of lovely sorts with lots of kids running about - but I just know that I'm going to be at that dumpy with not much of a bump phase when it happens in about a month's time and haven't found anything that will make me look half way decent. Then a month later a ridiculously posh doo, in a cathedral !!!?! where I have been instructed to wear a hat or 'fascinator'!? and DH has to potentially hire a morning suit. Oh and there's no word if our DS is allowed to come :( We're also the first of that group to have had kids and it will be full of skinny, glam, loaded types while yes I too amble around like livestock.
Pookypup I agree with folic that Becks does have a kind of aftertaste but I think it could make a nice shandy.

voodoomunkee · 24/04/2011 08:43

Morning all, really cheered me up reading the previous posts about weddings and dresses etc. Before the rather unexpected news about being pg, I had a wedding planned for the start of next year. Although now thinking I may put that off til the end of the year. Also have a 'do' to go to but it is black tie so I am hoping that one of my many failsafe black dresses will suffice! It isnt until the start of July so no clue what shape I will be by then but think that as these dresses are of the maxi stretchy variety they will do and I can get away with some fake tan of some description and my hair done! I have to dc's already who have weddings to go to but fortunately my presence is not required (phew).

Lovely and sunny here today and I have woken up feeling a tad better so may be able to enjoy it rather than looking at it through the window surrounded by a box of tissues and honey and lemon!

Have a fab day everyone.

Folicacid · 24/04/2011 09:34

Yes nails and hair will have to be a must. And we'll all just have to accessorise the fuck out of the other guests Grin

Gawd poppet I would hate to get an invite where a hat or fascinator was a prerequisite. I'm such a casual dresser at the best of times, ordinary weddings make me come out in cold sweats. I normally drinks lots though and dance my ass off to get through and always end up having a whale of a time. Now I'll just be the whale! (but not whale enough- if you get me- I worry that in August will just look fat rather than bumplicious).

Gorgeous day here after two days rain. Finally, yay!
