Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi Smithcat and Hi to Alicemamma

Consultant said to disregard last ultrasound and that scans done in the later stages are not very accurate, better done when baby is small. He measured with tape etc. and said that baby feels fine and to just wait for labour. Worry over nothing it seems!
I have an appt to go back and see him two weeks today (1st Dec) if baby hasn't arrived at which point i'll be 41weeks!!!
Must hope that it will happen soon...

Highlight of night will be some Tex-mex and Little Britain!! Yeah i know!

goldenoldie · 17/11/2005 17:35

Hope you are all well and ready to pop - soon. Will see you all on the post natal thread - where is it?

SmithTheCat · 17/11/2005 17:50

Pop? Feels more like about to burst like Mr Creosote (Monty Python's Meaning of Life) Another vaffer thin mint, anyone?
Yes, where is this fabled postnatal thread?

CADS · 17/11/2005 19:52

Evening ladies.

Goldie - How are your LOs? Have you got names for them yet? You'll find the postnatal club here:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=2330&threadid=119147&stamp=051117172654 (sorry can't do links)

Alicemama - Welcome back. I was wondering if you had gone ahead and had your baby without me. Still waiting here too. Hope you recover from your fall soon.

SmithTheCat - LOL re huge thunderstorm. Can definitely relate to that.

BAM - I have a sweep booked for Tuesday too. Do you think we will land up having these babies on the same day. Would be funny considering our dss are only 1 day part. Maybe yours might be first this time. My ds could benefit with some sort of time out too. Admire you for giving it a go already. I have been putting it off until the baby is here and I can physically manage the whole thing better. Hats off to you.

Right off to have some dinner. Can't seem to stop eating over the last couple of days.

Hi Alicemama & smiththecat. I don't know if I feel like Mr Creosote but I definately look the size of Daffyd, the only gay in the village. Did anyone catch the start of the new series tonight? Bloody hilarious,

Goldenoldie, have you found the postnatal thread yet? Also, we need to know what your babes are called.

Well, I tried expressing some colostrum tonight to freeze for the first 24 hrs. What a hoot! On mears's advice I expressed it straight into a bag rather than it get lost in the pump. It's very dificult holding up your boob, holding open the tiny bag without getting your fingers in it, squeezing your nipple & aiming it into the bag. Did get a bit narked at one point when it kept running down my boob instead.

You know how nipple tweaking is suggested as a way of starting labour?? Weeeelll, I've been having regular BH's every 10 mins since expressing.

goldenoldie · 18/11/2005 02:23

Will try and find post-natal thread. CADs thanks for info.

Karma - no names yet and they are a week old today!

SharonTW · 18/11/2005 04:02

Hi anyone still awake ? I have had the most awful text fight with my horribles sister I'm too upset to sleep and can't keep Gary awake any longer.
She's split with her boyfriend (latest in a long line) and because she was fed up said we have her 3 kids over for tea to give her a break , thought that was good of us. Well when I rang her she was in the pub and had been since lunchtime, so if I went into labour not only would I have had myself to worry about I would have had to have got her home (7 miles the wrong direction from hospital) from the pub and got the kids to her as well, when I said she was selfish she has text me the nastiest messages all night (she has been drinking for 8 hours) even when I didn't reply for 2 hours they were still coming even slagging DH off who has her kids for her more than he has his own. Really had it with her this time, can anyone believe what a cow she is ?
Sorry for going on but I'm so bloody angry and upset, if this baby comes today (I'm due today) I'll be shattered.
One grumpy sisterless Sharon 40weeks today !!

KristinaM · 18/11/2005 08:16

sharon - how are you now? When did you get to sleep? I think it was very good of you to look after your sisters 3 kids in your condition - sounds like it was the drink talking . But I know it doenst make it ok for her to talk to you like that

How are the rest of you this monring?

alicemama · 18/11/2005 09:42

Morning Ladies,
Any babies made an appearance during the night???
Mine certainly doesn't want to show up yet! After slipping on the pavement yesterday, I then slipped down the last 2 steps on the stairs and landed with a big bump on my my bum. So had terrible backache all night and ended up putting my tens on, side effect of which was strong bh's for a couple of hours but as usual came to nothing!
Can't belive I'm 40+4 and still no baby, whats worse is I have a 30% off voucher for GAP and no baby to buy clothes for and I'm sick of buying white! A shoppers nightmare!!!
Dh is off work now all weekend so hopefully he'll take me out somewhere nice to get me out of house!

Have a good day everyone
Alicemama 40+4!!!!!!!

KristinaM · 18/11/2005 09:44

Alice - plan a really special night out soemwhere this weekend. That will make the wee bu**er turn up prompto

ChaCha · 18/11/2005 10:06

Morning all,

Karma - Yup, I saw Little Britain too, do you have a favourite sketch? What's with the BHs then? Could you be next Karma?!

Sharon - I'm sorry you've had such a crappy night. Re: Text messages - seems to be just the drink talking. Try and take it with a pinch of salt and think about yourself now first. You really must put your feet up and get some rest. Without confrontation perhaps have your sister over for lunch and talk to her, maybe she's feeling really down right now with b/f leaving and the three kids to look after. Maybe she's aware that when your little one arrives she'll be coping more on her own and feeling a little resentful? Anyway... just some thoughts.

Kristina - How are you this morning?

Alicemama - I keep looking at that 40+ after your name and gulping hard! Can you believe that they told me yesterday I would go for an appt at 41wks to discuss what would happen next No induction date or anything....oh Lordie!! I hope your baby makes an appearance soon, the waiting is so hard.

Hi to Busy, LilJ and CADS.

Good Moaning All!
Sorry if you've already answered this, but I'm curious to know, K-m-m, why you're expressing colostrum? Erm, also, I'm interested that you have got it already to express. Mine seem to be still empty - I didn't know they started producing anything before the birth, should they be? Anyone else already producing stuff? V.curious.

KristinaM · 18/11/2005 10:44

Hi chacha - I am ok. Have been having the runs & stomach cramps every morning for several weeks now. At first i got all excited thinking it was a sign , now its just sore and bloody annoying.

Then yesterday I got chest pains (for the first time in my life). Called Gp who asked me to coem in asap. He thought it was a blood clot at first, then decided it was mechanical. i think its more likely a chest infection starting but at least its nothing more serious.

Dh just phoned from work to check I am ok and to tell me to get him home if necessary. This is very sweet of him as he has a VERY VERY IMPORTANT meeting all day, with clients who have come from the US to meet with him as he coulndt go there ( for obvious reasons!!!). I got a big lecture about how no client is more important than me and the baby . I am to watch TV and eat chocolate!

Didn't have the heart to tell him I am on mumsnet then i need to go to the shops as its DDs school disco tonight and i forgot to get her something to wear......

.....bad mummy......bad mummy....

KristinaM · 18/11/2005 10:48

smith -I dont have any colostrum and I only stopped feeing the last baby in August. i dont think it means anything if you dont have it.

Karma is trying it as she has gestational diabetes, to try and avoid baby having to get formula.

Karma - LOL.....liked the description of you with the plastic bags.......pretty weird.....you are def trying to freak out your squeamish DP!!!!!!! MEN!!!!!

ChaCha · 18/11/2005 11:01

Hi Kristina, Your DH is being very sweet and considerate. You should do exactly as he says, of course, after buying DDs outfit. How old is she btw? Bet she's v.excited.
Hope chest pains get better too, never rains but it pours eh?

I'm not sure about colostrum but i did post on the Health thread months ago as I noticed some 'bitty' bits in my nipples. Was told that this is milk being produced and it dries into crusts on your nipples - have had this for a few months, still have it now. I assume that stops drying when baby is born and actually produces milk right? (duh!)

Yesterday I made a conscious effort to dress up, do hair, make up and spoil myself and it really worked! Felt great all day (even though my toenails that I tried in vain to do myself look worse than before i started) and must do the same again - what a difference it made to how i felt. On Nova's advice in previous posts took a whole load of pics of me with bump to remember, I really hadn't taken many all through this PG. Well enough from me. My glider/stool is on it's way (wasn't meant to come till December) so I'm off to make space and have some brekkie. Back later if any of you are around xxx

twinkle1 · 18/11/2005 11:09

morning just a quick hello while josh is asleep
take it easy while you can im sure it will not be long for you all now.As for colostrom dont worry some women have leak lots during pregnancy some none, its no indication of how much you will have when you have the baby, you will produce as much as your baby needs
twinkle & Joshua

SmithTheCat · 18/11/2005 11:14

Toenails? I think I remember them.......long ago I think there were quite a few things below the level of my ribcage....
V.fascinating re colostrum etc. Hope it all works out for Karmamother.

KristinaM · 18/11/2005 11:15

I know chacha, he is wonderful [gush emoticon]

DD is 5 and in her second year at school. I feel bad at forgetting about teh disco, she has been neglected as DS1 (18 montsh) is such a handful & she is so good mostly. She wants to wear old jeans and t shirt but even i knwo thsi wont be OK!!!

Thnaks, chest paisn are now dull ache so OK

I think you get colostrum for about 3 days then your milk comes in. Which hurts as you breasts get very full and hot and hard.Thats when you need a very very firm bra. Or two

You sound in better spirits after yesterday chacha
LOL at teh toenails!!

glider chair and stool are WONDERFUL you wont regret buying it. takes up a fair bit of room but is SO comfortable

.

LilJ · 18/11/2005 11:15

Hi all.

Another day, still no baby. What's this about juniper & quinine? I'll try anything now! But saying that I've decided that all the things that are supposed to bring on labour are false and the baby just comes when it wants to. My body is definitely prepping up for birth, but doesn't seem to want to make the next step. So I'm bored, cranky and unable to walk more than a hundred yards without having to stop (the baby's head is 4/5ths engaged and boy do I feel it!). Going to have to relax about the whole thing otherwise I might kill someone with my hormones in such a mess.

ChaCha - it looks like we're in the same boat - wonder which of us will pop first?

Goldenoldie - how are the twins? And how are you?

Anyway I should log off and do something productive ...

J xx

SmithTheCat · 18/11/2005 11:28

What's a glider stool and chain?

Sorry, no mysteries about juniper and quinine - it's a gin and tonic .

BEKsmum · 18/11/2005 11:46

Morning girls just thought i'd pop on and say hello and to let you know i'm still checking the thread everyday to see how you are all doing.

I know it won't be long before you all join us on the other thread, so come on girls get popping, we want more birth stories!

Seriously though hope you are all keeping well and that your bubs are all cooking nicely, take care of yourselves Beks

KristinaM · 18/11/2005 11:53

Hi beks

glider chair here

ChaCha · 18/11/2005 11:54

I'm back already..I really should switch the PC off after I log out, its so convenient to keep having 'a little break' on MN.

LilJ - Good to see you post again. We've both got about a week to go now if on time, fingers crossed eh?

SmiththeCat - Looks like this

Kristina - When you said school disco I had visions of you and a stroppy teenager looking for some 'disco wear' LOL. Oh, bless her! That's so sweet.
FWIW - cutting toenails was excruciating..I can't even get socks and shoes on so you can imagine what pain I was in, but it just had to be done!! No m/w is going to see crusty looking feet..yuk!

Am feeling good today Kristina, but my moods are so up and down it's hard to tell what I'll be like in the space of each hour. Hormones are at their peak I think...

busy - Any news?

ChaCha · 18/11/2005 11:57

LOL @ our crossed posts...guess we are both having a similar 'sit on ar*e' kind of hour.

Beks - I miss you guys - seriously!! Hope you're all well. How are you gorgeous boys btw?

Will attempt the washing machine i think..

SharonTW · 18/11/2005 12:14

Hello everyone, thanks Kristina and Cha Cha , sure it is the drink too but she's rang Mum this morning and told her how horrible I am ??
Really mad but not letting her get to me, we are on totally different planets.
