Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ChaCha · 16/11/2005 19:19

Evening ladies,
It's definitely quiet on here...

Karma, LOL @ comments on turning over in the night, made me giggle!
How are you Kristina? Was a bit slow, was thinking of all things mafia orientated..or a certain type of cuisine..duh!!
Sharon - How lovely to be able to walk the beach!! Am very jealous. Wish i could do the same.

Have consultancy tomorrow afternoon, secretly hoping she can see into the future and tell me when baby is arriving. Well, you can dream!

See you all later x

KristinaM · 16/11/2005 21:23

oh chacha, def nothing to do with cooking!!! Think more romeo and juliet...ok its not very romantic , is it,when you feel like a beached whale??????

KristinaM · 16/11/2005 21:57

Off to seduce Dh then........

karmamother · 16/11/2005 22:16

Evening all.

KristinaM, in answer to your question, I think she IS op as all the limbs seems to poke out at the front. I do try not to slouch on the sofa which encourages an op position but I'd be interested to see how she's lying when I present to the hospital in labour. It'd be just my bloody luck, too. As for the BH's, I'm sure thats all they are.

Chacha, I was with you with the Italian Induction!!LOL.

Well, the bloody carpets won't be fitted this week as promised by Storey's, but they will be done the day before my EDD. Great. Talk about cutting it fine.

Hey, will anyone else be watching "I'm a Celebrity..." They've got Jimmy Osmond on it!! Crikey!

38+5

KristinaM · 16/11/2005 22:25

Oh Karma, you are showing your age!!!! Jimmy Osmond!!!!

Apparently getting any work done in the house is as good as an induction

Maybe the BHs are coz you are crunching the RTT tablets by the dozen??? Just wondered about the position as OP babies are meant to cause a very long pre labour stage, arent they? Or is that just an old midwives tale???

Karma - Have you got a name for DD yet? Dh announced today that his favourite is Alex - which i haveliked all along but wasnt even on his shortlist!!! What do you think BAM?? ( we knwo its a boy)

As you can see, the seduction of Dh is going so well that i am still here on MN.....

karmamother · 16/11/2005 23:10

KristinaM, Yay! stay on MN, we may not be able to start your labour but we may be more entertaining! Yes, OP does mean a longer first stage, usually as baby is trying to get into a more favourable position - OA. Also, OP means less direct pressure on the cervix from the head as this is one of the things that helps escalate labour. I've actually delivered a few face-to-pubes babies & the first one was totally unexpected (I was still a student, in my defence). What a bloody shock I got. You're expecting to see the back of baby's head when all of a sudden a little face is peeking up at you!! Oops.

As for the RLT, the bottle says you can take up to 6/day & I don't exceed that amount. TBH, a 45 hr labour is an experience I don't want to repeat.

As for names, we haven't discussed it again since we thought of Erin so that might be what we decide. I remember when I had DS, it seemed strange to call him by his name initially, you just keep calling them "the baby", don't you?

ChaCha · 17/11/2005 00:05

Karma - my antenatal notes say that baby's presentation is COPL (writing is typical of the GP's - illegible!) and that the position is LOL/LSL (surely not Laugh Out Loud anyway) - Can you tell me what that means? Implications?
Bad news about your carpets but at least they are not expecting to finish after your due date. We are supposed to be looking for carpet for the stairs and all upstairs rooms but I think i'd prefer to leave it till after baby is born to be on the safe side. Kitchen floor is tiled and I'm happy with that for now. Eeeek at thought of no carpet/half baked job on return from hossie...yikes!

Kristina - How's Italy?

Thoroughly exhausted, cleaning and cleaning. Becoming a bit OTT with cleanliness and general housework. DH forgot to plug the freezer in after floor had been tiled and just discovered a freezer full of my ready cooked meals (for after the birth) all defrosted was not a happy bunny!!!

See you all tomorrow x

karmamother · 17/11/2005 00:44

Chacha, just a quickie before I go to bed.
LOL is left occipito-lateral - the presenting part is baby's head & it's back is facing to the left. LSL is left sacro-lateral - the presenting part is the bottom & it the back is also facing to the left. Basically, your gp can't decide whether its a cephalic (head) or breech presentation. As for COPL, it may be CEPH & be badly written, short for cephalic.

about your lovely frozen meals. I would've killed him!!

karmamother · 17/11/2005 00:48

Forgot to add, if the gp thinks the presentation is cephalic, don't know why he put LSL. Anyway, there aren't any implications to worry about. LOL is a good position for baby to be in. During labour, baby will eventually rotate so that he will be facing backwards, in most cases. Thats the way they usually pop out.

KristinaM · 17/11/2005 08:45

morning girls, how did you all sleep???

For a start, i can tell you that the Italians KNOW NOTHING!!!!!! Dont waste your energy that you could use on eating chocolate !( ooops sorry you cant even do that can you Karma???). Maybe i should just have more RLT instead ? Mine are 500mg and say 1-3 per day. I have only been taking one or two.

Chacha - i woudl be SSSOOO about the meals too - def grounds for divorce

CADs, BAM, sharon, sarah, Lil - where are you? We dont seem to have heard from BoB for ages - or have I missed soemthing?? Apologies if I have......

CADS · 17/11/2005 09:23

I'm still around, 5 days over. Can't believe this is happening to me AGAIN!!! Saw midwife on Tues and everything is normal but no signs of labour and baby isn't even engaged. Have a sweep booked for Tues (41+3) but really hope that I don't make it.

Have tried everything and have to agreed Kristina, they italians know f all. Curry hasn't done anything either.

Have been feeling really tired the last couple of days and just want to sleep which of course is impossible with 20mnth old running around and wanting to sit on my chest.

Already getting the "have you had it yet calls?" Have to stop answering the phone.

Right ds is trying to take over the computer so will end off.

CADS · 17/11/2005 09:26

BTW, Harpsichordcarrier had her baby, see birth announcements. On her due date (lucky cow).

KristinaM · 17/11/2005 09:29

Oh CADS I am so sorry . i am only 39+2 and already stressing out about being induced again. They are going to do a sweep at term plus 3 for me & I'm thinking about asking for another if that deosnt work. i think it was BAm who said that a second one worked for her last time. Knwo what you mean about trying to "rest" (ha ha) with an 18 month old running about.

ChaCha · 17/11/2005 10:15

OH CADS - You must be fed up! I'm sorry you're feeling so lousy, I still have 9 days to go until EDD and I'm praying that he makes an appearance ASAP. I hope that your baby shows up this weekend, I really do. Sending you lots of positive vibes (not that I have any myself but this is cyberworld afterall) and smiles..chin up!!

Karma - Thanks for the info, that's great.

Kristina - I had an awful couple of hours last night, I can't believe i'm such a baby, I was crying my eyes out! I get this feeling of such heaviness down below that I feel I cannot walk, this is followed by shooting pains and excruciating back pain..got really grumpy with DH asking me what was wrong, he's gone to work looking shattered this morning..[guilty look]
I eventually feel asleep sitting upright with hotwater bottle at back but woke a couple of hours later with limbs shooting across my bump - don't think he's got much space at all now. Is anyone else getting these cramp type pains or the shooting ones?

LilJ posted yesterday i think or day before, she'd seen her consultant and there's not much she can do but wait like the rest of us.
Busy is i believe as Busy as she always is but I do believe she'll be next. She's in waiting too.
We have heard nothing from BoB for weeks now I'm sad to say. Keep asking where she is but nothing, would have thought friend/DP would have posted on her behalf...
Sharon is still with us and Sarah has gone to her MILs for a few days if i remember correctly.

I was upset about the freezer incident but I will use it to my advantage

Got the consultant this afternoon. Doubt I'll be told anything new.

KristinaM · 17/11/2005 10:33

cha cha - you are not being a baby - pain is still pain even if you are pregnant!!!! Did you take some paracetemol or try your tens machine? Tens isn't my thing but some pople find them great. I haven't had these pains yet this time but had a few nights like you describe last time - was awake all night, SURE this was IT and then in the morning....nothing.

I found it very discouraging....felt like I had gone through all that for nothing. Dont knwo what to say except send cyber hugs (((((())))))) and sympathy. And dont be hard on yourself - its Ok to be miserable if you are feeling this bad.

CADS · 17/11/2005 11:02

Thanks ladies. The waiting is definitely the worse part of pregnancy (well at least for me). If another person tells me to be patient (like waiting 40 weeks doesn't test your patience enough) I am like to stick a hippo up their privates and see how they would like it.

Have put ds in front of the tv watching the Lion King (bad mommy ) hopefully will get a little peace for a few minutes. Still haven't managed to get out of my pjs though.

KristinaM · 17/11/2005 11:10

hey cads he might as well get used to it now. there will be lots of watching Tv / vidoes when the new baby comes. You do what you have to do....

twinkle1 · 17/11/2005 11:26

twinkle & Joshua

SharonTW · 17/11/2005 11:54

morning everyone, is it still morning ?
Think I seen every hour on the clock last night, woke up with a sore throat and headache too.
Feeling a lot heavier down there too, got a feeling about today ?? Hope it holds off til tomorrow though - my due date that would be something eh ?
Sis in laws birthday today and couldn't cope with it !!! She's been texting me all morning saying get a move on - oh No !

LOL @ Hippo ...

Kristina - Thanks for that. Makes me feel better for being such a wimp.

My dad has booked his flight for a week today but is asking me if i'm sure baby is not going to come early Like I know!! Can predict sulky conversations with relatives that go like 'But you told us it would be due on....' Pooooh! I'm all over the place today..must breathe!!!!!

Fingers crossed sharon xx

karmamother · 17/11/2005 12:33

Afternoon ladies.

Just returned from seeing the MW. All well, head not engaged so nothing is imminent. I asked her about a stretch & sweep & the policy at York is for term+4, however as I'm delivering at another hospital she needs the obstetrician's permission to do it any earlier than that. I see him tomorrow so I shall plead with him to let her do it at term. GD ladies are usually induced at 38 weeks but as I've done sooooo well with my sugar levels he'll let me go overdue, shot myself in the foot there, didn't I???

KristinaM, sorry you had no luck with last night's activities. A bottle of Chianti might have been better....! As for the RLT, mine are 500mg & I can take 3-6 per day! Maybe I'm overdoing it a bit, compared with the dosage on yours. I might drop to 4-5 per day instead.

Chacha, hope you're feeling a little better today. It is bloody painful, isn't it? When you see the size of your newborn's head it will all make sense, believe me!

Sharon, you must be knackered! Sending good vibes for your labour to start soon.

CADS, Yay for dvds!! Best invention known to parents. I'm a bad mommy too, can you tell?

Twinkle, thanks for popping in. How are your poor nips after all that feeding? He must be enjoying the taste of your milk.

Busyalexsmummy · 17/11/2005 12:35

KristinaM- LOL, thats cool about the name!
Yeah, was me who said my 2nd sweep worked,Im having a sweep next tuesday, if nothings happend by then-by which time I'll be 40+3, then I am going to try and blag the m/w to give me anougher if thats not successful,at the end of the week, maybe on friday or something when I'll be 40+6.

Sympathies on the rest front,Alex is bouncing off the walls the past week, hes started hitting dp round the face alot ie. when dp picks him up or is lying on the sofa after work, Seems like were have to start "time out" now,but it has to be re-inforced as hes not old enough to sit somewhere for 2 mins, he thinks it a game and will just run off, so HV suggested a time out chair, sit him in it and hold him there whilst turning head away and ignoring for 2 mins, its taking alot of effort as he seems to be needing time out very frequently at the moment[knackered emoticon]

CADS-poor you, I feel for you and remember what it was like going over with ds, officially(by their dates) I was 11 days over, but by my dates, which I swear to this day are the right ones, he went 16 days over not a pleasant experience at all!
I hope it all starts happening for you soon, I think I'll end up going in for induction again, but then I have been having twinges etc that I didnt have at the end with ds ,weather that means anything I dont know!chin up!

Gutted this morning, was awake till 1am, went to sleep and was up every 1/2 hr which chronic backache that came and went throughout the early hours of this morning, got up eventually and it all went again-this is really bizarre and is driving me nuts as I feel like Ive imagened/dreamed it, but it wasnt, it was actual pain?!?

[managed to b'd yesterday,ouch!]

L 39+ 5......2 DTG!!

OP posts:
karmamother · 17/11/2005 13:23

Afternoon, BAM. I wonder if Alex has developed a sixth sense that his little world is about to change? They always act up at precisely the worst time, don't they? I remember seeing the naughty step being used by a friend (in my pre-DS days) & I thought "That'll never work! Why would a 2 yr old stay on a stair when you walk away from them?" I was gobsmacked when it had the desired effect. TBH, I think it benefits the parents more, time out for mummy & daddy is more important when they're driving you up the wall! LOL!

Also, my admiration for you & the BDing. I'm saving that for next week once my new carpets have been fitted. Don't want DP to think it's available anytime.....

alicemama · 17/11/2005 16:16

Hope you don't mind if I join in, I posted once a very long time ago but never kept up with you all due to work....thank goodness for mat leave!
I'm 40+3 and seriously getting fed up of waiting now.
I was supposed to have sweep on tuesday but didn't have my midwife for antenatel app so she wouldn't do it so early but hopefully if nothings happened by sunday my own midwife is coming to my home to give me one.
Managed to venture out this morning with dd but wish I hadn't as I slipped on the frosty pavement and now my pelvis and back are killing me and feel like I can hardly walk.
so kust sittig and waiting for something to happen now... why is there nothing on tv?????

alicemama 40+3

SmithTheCat · 17/11/2005 17:02

Ow, Alicemama, that must have been nasty. Hope it wears off soon.

Hello, I'm still here too. I'm starting to enjoy all this curry, passion and pineapple, just a pity about the backache, leg-ache, hip-ache etc. Does anybody else feel like they have the worst case of PMT ever? It's like waiting for a huge thunderstorm to break. Thinking of indulging in a small ahem herbal remedy involving juniper and quinine or I'm going to bite someone soon. Does anybody actually know why pinapple? Spent an hour from 3-4am thinking how nice a fillet of steamed salmon would taste. Are you all feeling this barmy too?
