Good morning everyone

Congratulations to JenJam!! Looking forward to all these birth stories.

Enthusia is in hospital now yay!!! Can't wait to hear her birth announcement. Very excited for her. Seems strange as we've been on this thread for such a long time and now it's all coming to an end...I feel like I've been kidding myself, he hee! Sure hope that the rest of you wait for me...

Twinkle - You're almost there! Try and relax tomorrow and take things easy.

No sign of Karma...BoB...PinkMinx...any other regulars missing?

twinkle1 · 09/11/2005 09:54

alfiesmum · 09/11/2005 10:13

Morning all, just wanted to say good luck to enthusia, but I may be to late!
I don't get five minutes to myself anymore, Oscar is asleep so thought I would have a quick catch up.
Congratulations to any new mums, they are coming thick and fast now I can't keep up.

Chacha - don't worry about having a big baby, Oscars exact weight was 8lb 141/2ozs ( I've been telling everyone 9lbs as it was easier and so close anyway) I managed to push him out in six minutes! and i'm only 5 foot 2inches, size 5 feet and size 8-10 clothes. He came out much quicker than Alfie who was tiny. The stitches are fine now, they don't hurt for long. hope this has put your mind at rest, don't worry you can do it!

Love to all
Jess x

ChaCha · 09/11/2005 11:18

Thanks for that Alfiesmum I'm trying to be positive and hoping that it will all be okay. Hope baby Oscar is well and that you're all doing fine xx

I knew the time would come when i'd be on here talking to myself...just sooner than anticipated!!

Out of the regular posters we only have myself, CADS, Busy, Kristina, BoB (although I have a feeling she may have given birth by now or is in hospital) Karma, LILj, Sarah & Sharon. Come on!!

harpsichordcarrier · 09/11/2005 11:26

hello chacha and everyone
sorry I have been so absent from this thread, I just felt I had come to it rather late in the day and I might be intruding.
but as I have been invited back....
I will try and catch up later but just to say:
I am due on Sunday...
have been admitted four times so far with raised blood pressure. I am on medication which has made me feel quite ill. but trying hard to hold on if I can... due to see the specialist on Thursday.
off to get my BP checked now...

ChaCha · 09/11/2005 11:39

Harpi - So glad you came back. I'd seen you on other threads and thought wondered why you'd left us . It's nice to have you back, hopefully though you'll be joining the others on the post-natal thread before you know it! In the meantime, you can keep me company, I can't believe its nearly all over on here....
Good luck with your BP and appt. Let us know what happened and talk later xxx

KristinaM · 09/11/2005 12:16

welcome back harpi - sorry to here you have been so unwell. Well done for hanging on this long.

Twinkle - best wishes for tomorrow - please get your mum or Dh to post with all the news. though I suspect you will be home in 48 hours anyway!!!!

SharonTW · 09/11/2005 13:21

Hi everyone, not long been up, didn't sleep all night , my tummy wasrock hard and quite sore, slept when hubby went to work shattered bless him.
Doesn't feel so bad now.
Cha Cha the stats say I have 18 days left ??? I'm due on 18th, please don't make me wait any longer !!! my dates were changed when I had my first scan. Hope everyone's ok, I'm getting scared now but also can't wait, what a mix up of emotions we have to go through.
My black dog has been on my cream suite and it's covered in hairs -I'm going to kill her !!!

BEKsmum · 09/11/2005 13:22

Hi girls,

Congratulations Jenjam & Beartime, glad everything went well for you both.

Twinkle good luck for tomorrow, hope they don't keep you hanging around to long.

Enthusia, you're on your way to becoming a mummy, hope it's not to long or painful a journey till the moment you hold your baby in your arms.

Chacha, keep smiling sweetheart, you're nearly there, I know what you mean about missing your mum, my parents are going back to Spain on Sunday and we've seen them everyday, they are only going home for a month but that will still seem like an age. Thanks for the compliments on my boys, Ben just seems so big now next to Thomas, I keep wondering where my baby has gone!

Busy sorry to hear Alex isn't well, not what you need right now! Ben has just gone down with a hacking cough so my house is a bundle of laughs what with sleep deprivation, dh has put his back out and Ben having a cough I'm beginning to wonder when I was supposed to be pampered and when they are going to look after me instead of the other way round Lucky there's one woman in the house to keep things moving!!!

Right best go as the HV is coming round in a minute. Hope everyone is doing ok Beks

ChaCha · 09/11/2005 14:34

Sharon - It wasn't an error. I had to make it seem like some of you had longer to go so I didn't feel left out Nah, only kidding, my mistake, sorry if you felt like you still had ages to go (well you can be in sympathy with me). Just over a week for you then...wow!

Is Twinkles section tomorrow? I keep thinking it's Friday. Keep us posted as Kristina said Twinkle via family member or the like.

Beks - My DH had the same back problem just last week, it was fortunate that my mum was here to do a bit of running around. I wasn't very sympathetic though wanted to pat him on the head and say 'Never mind. It will soon be over!' but I didn't [halo shines] What would they do if they had to carry babies eh?

sarahsausage · 09/11/2005 14:55

Afternoon ladies,

Been a while since last post and cant believe all these babies! Congrats to all the new mummies

Still feeling lots of pressure everytime i stand/walk/sit/move so pretty much all of the time. Dont remember feeling this bad with dd. Still havent done any shopping, have no hospital bag etc, i'm pretty sure it will be a last minute dash for mum and sister to get me the things i need when i go into labour!

Finally kind of decided on names, Lottie for a girl or Alfie for a boy. The middle names are still undecided at the moment.

Not so dd is driving me crazy, she's really starting to throw tantrums now, think its because she's still not used to her daddy working away all week. And as it is a new job he wont be entitled to paternity leave, therefore i'm going to be stuck at home with a tiny tiny baby and a tantruming toddler all by myself But then many women do it and i know i will cope because i have to, theres no other option but to. But on the bright side at least i wont need to pee every 20 mins!

Good luck to all the ladies still waiting for their bundles.

well i should think about making a move and getting the kids from school.

Afternoon everyone!

Tessa, Ash and Dh are flaked out on the sofa listening to Little Grey Rabbit so I can catch up on here.

Congratulations to all the other new Mummies out there, there seems to have been a bit of a rush

Can't believe that I had a baby less than 2 days ago and feel so well. In the end it all went amazingly well and I would definately recommend a homebirth to anyone thinking about it. Think when I left you on Monday I had decided that having irregular contractions was better than nothing (which is what happened with Tessa)
By 5pm the midwife came to check me out- just BP, baby's heartrate etc. No internal thankfully as didn't want to increase risk of infection. Left saying that if things sped up a lot to call ambulance as well as her because it would take her 40 mins to get from hospital. We weren't sure if she was serious
Less than half an hour later things REALLY had sped up - contractions every 2-3 mins, lasting 60 seconds and TENS not really making a difference. Called midwife and ambulance!!!
Wanted to push even before ambulance turned up though DH was trying to get me to wait for midwives. Paramedics provided gas and air, which was just what I needed, it took the edge off the pain which put me back in control of everything. Midwives (2 regular ones plus a student so we now had a room full ) arrived at some point. No need for any examination as I was pushing already, they just let me get on with it. Within 15 mins of their arrival baby Ash made his appearance. As I was on my hands and knees and he was quite quiet the first thing I heard after his delivery was DH saying, in a rather overawed voice, 'Its a boy!'

Tessa was upstairs playing quite happily with her Auntie throughout the latter part of it all. She heard her brother's first cry and then DH went to get her so she could see the baby. She was a little uncertain about the number of strange people in our living room but was fascinated by the baby. Went back upstairs, got ready for bed and fell asleep only slightly later than usual so I don't think she was too alarmed by the day's events.

For whatever reasons - my own setting, second time around so knew more about what to expect, quicker delivery, whatever, I felt completely in control (apart from just before I got the gas and air-that stuff really is FANTASTIC ) and could even say I enjoyed the experience.

I'm sure it all being so positive has helped with how well I'm feeling now, that and the Manic Mummy hormones!

I also got my physiological 3rd stage for those that are interested but I'll post about that a bit later.

Hope our good fortune follows those that are still waiting and that all those babies who have made an appearance are behaving themselves.

Kate

BEKsmum · 09/11/2005 16:44

Chacha, what are these men like, how did your dh put his back out? Mine was playing with Lego on the floor with Ben and just turned badly, strangely enough I didn't have much sympathy for him either

I think the population would be a lot lower if men had to carry babies, I'd love to see their reactions if you told them that the hole in their privates were going to stretch to 10cm Strangely I don't think they'd be so keen on the consequences of unprotected Bding do you!!!

Let us know if you hear anything from Mr Enthusia won't you. Beks

BEKsmum · 09/11/2005 16:48

Tessamum (Kate) sorry our posts crossed, congratulations what a great birth story, you must be so proud of yourself - well done you.

Ash sounds lovely and it would appear that Tessa is as brave as her mummy.

Hope the manic mummy hormones keep you flying high, take care of yourselves Beks

rodeo1 · 09/11/2005 17:27

Tessasmum, FAB birth story! Sounds really wonderful - so pleased for you!!

Congratulations to Beartime Glad things were fine (we were a little worried )

And congratulations to Jenjam - looking forward to hearing the details!

Busy - Don't go into labour yet, I've not sent the blooming Arnica. SORRY!!! Will def do it tomorrow!

Registered Jess today - she's officially Jessie Mathilda Mary Owen Couldn't decide which middle name to leave out so she ended up with both. Only just decided on the way there!

Hope we hear from Enthusia soon, hope everything went/goes well for her. Things are getting soooooo exciting on here!!

karmamother · 09/11/2005 19:42

Evening all,

sorry I haven't been on for a few days. Due to decorating, sadly, not baby! DP & I have spent most of the last 2 days painting which has done great things for the BH's. I'm sure the RLT is working as I'm having quite uncomfortable tightenings. I don't mind the discomfort as I really want a shorter labour than last time. Anyway, baby can't come till we've finished the living room & the new carpets are in. Oh, & we still need to buy a cot too.

Congrats to all the new babies. Chacha, I'm sure we'll be on here together right till the bitter end.

Wonder how Enthusia is getting on? Wonder if she's at the swearing stage yet?

beartime · 09/11/2005 21:13

Congratulations Tessasmum, Diege and JenJam (only just beat you to it!) - Tessasmum I can't believe you enjoyed the experience! I know what you mean about just before you got the gas and air though.

After I posted, the MW came back, then had a long second stage - 12pm was 5cm dilated, and when she checked me next at 6pm I was 7cm, but then my waters broke as she did the internal, so it really got strong - the worst thing was having a strong contraction while she was still doing it and having to lay on my back

Then the pain got so unbearable that although I had decided to try to do without gas and air if poss, I gave in and asked if she had it, and she did - that was a trip! I started off taking it off for between contractions but was so out of it that I kept forgetting to put it back on again and really felt the pain, so I ended up just keeping it on the whole time from then. Then half an hour later I woke up out of my dream world to MW saying 'we're going to have to take you into hospital, his heart beat is too low' - the baby's heart beat had gone down to 80bpm in the middle of a contraction, twice, and she didn't want to risk it so phoned the ambulance. I started crying because I was so scared of having a c-section and didn't want to end up with that by going to hospital, but it was fun riding in an ambulance with sirens wailing and getting taken on a stretcher (even with my bright green virgin airline socks on!).

Don't remember much after that until I vomited on DH (having already done it quite a few times that day!) and realising my legs were up in the air in stirrups and I was on my back (bang goes the active birth plan) and the mW was urging me to push when I got the urge, and this doctor was telling me if I didn't get the baby out in the next few minutes they were going to have to use the ventouse. Oh, and I heard MW asking for the drip to be prepared (that really got me going). The funny thing was that I never got the urge to push - even though I was fully dilated then - anyone know why that is? SoI pushed like mad, even though I couldn't feel what I was pushing, DH said my veins stood out in my neck and I went red in the face. But it seemed like 10 secs later that they did an episiotomy (didn't knwo that till later) and got him out with the suction cup, with me pushing at the same time. And this big jelly like thing popped out and got put on my chest - sweeet!

Then they sewed me up - ouch. Apparently the cord was around his neck, accounting for the lowered heart rate, and when he pulled the placenta out (DH said it was the baby, but I'm not sure) the cord snapped and blood splattered all over the ceiling! I weakly asked MW if I could breastfeed, wondering if my one remaining thing on my birth plan would still happen, but I couldn't till i was sutured up. Oh well, not the end of the world! Gave birth at 8:24pm and he was 8lb 7oz.

Mu stitches hurt like mad, and breasts are sore, and I'm hyperemotional and very tired, but other than that I'm fine!

SharonTW · 09/11/2005 21:45

Oh bless you beartime, at least it's all over now and congratulations x
Must be my turn soon, didn't sleep all night with tummy so hard and had shooting pains all day !
Am so scared though but it has to happen to be over doesn't it x

Keep smiling girls x (she says)

ChaCha · 09/11/2005 21:47

Good evening ladies,

Tessasmum - Your birth story is one that I want to print off to read whenever I start getting into a panic about the birth! Well done, sounds amazing. Some of you have had really smooth births - It gives me some hope.

Beartime - Awww..well done to you! You seem to have coped so well. Thanks for sharing your story, it just goes to show, these babies have got to come out one way or the other right? Enjoy the post natal thread, you guys are growing in number now while we hang around and wait...grrrr!! LOL

Karma - Glad that you are still with us. Great that you're getting on so well with the decorating. We hope to put down some tiles in the kitchen and do bathroom floor but who knows..get so tired now. [yawns]

Beks - DH sees an osteopath as his back can be problematic so it was just one of those times that it was worse than it can be. He's better now though (thank goodness).

Right you boring November lot. I'll be off!

p.s. I've had no news as of yet from Enthusia's DH except that they were in the hossie this morning and all seemed well. Here's hoping for her!!!!!
