karma-Glad you got sorted with dp, Ive had a few long discussions with my dp about labour/birth/b/feeding etc and Im hoping hes taken it all in and will be more supportive this time round.

SharonTW-dont know weather the pains mean anything, just know im having loads of them at the moment, and when I walk around I have loads of pressure in my rectum as if the babys going to fall out! ps yes my belly is square! it now has corners!

KristinaM-Also sceptical about signs of labour, especially as the other day I was thinking of when i had ds, and realised I didnt have the runs or sickness or anything like that!

beks-love the piccys, hes lovely!

Nova - Happy birthday, hope you had a lovely relaxing day!

Well saturday we started painting ds's room(or dp did at least), then saturday night we went off with MIL to watch fireworks, it was a good display and ds was ok with the fireworks, he was hiding but looking with one eye and smiling!
Sunday we went shopping, and I managed to pick up a paper shredder for £4.99! a confetti cut one which was the last in store so reduced from £20+ ! bargain! but then we got it home and tested it out and dp got a bit keen with it and stuffed a huge wad of paper in, and now its brokemen!!!???!!
I then had a paddy round MIL's as I was knackered and just wanted 1/2hr to sit down and relax, but dp was fitting a fireplace for his mum and got angry with ds for getting in the way, so I stormed off in the other room after making it clear that I didnt ask to go there and am finding hard to keep running around stopping ds from doing things!
Im finding that now, Id rather stay at home where the house is fairly childproof, rather than go out and spend my entire time running around stopping him doing stuff/breaking stuff!

well off to see how dps getting on with the 3rd coat!

OK, looks like we are moving! Baby has obviously been listening and is planning to oblige by turning up before Thursday's hospital appointment

Waters broke about 3.30am this morning - sort of a dribble, then a gush then a dribble. Called hospital and midwife came out to check us - baby (and big sister and daddy!) still asleep. Mild contractions started a little while later and they are getting stronger. TENS is on and I think its making a difference.
Tessa in the bath and DH out on a quick local job (did cancel the all morning one thankfully). I'll try and keep you posted.

Off to find things to distract me - could do all my nesting in a couple of hours this morning

BEKsmum · 07/11/2005 10:30

Best of luck Tessasmum, hope it's not to painful and that your home birth is all you want it to be, will keep everything crossed for you. Beks

tessasmum · 07/11/2005 10:36

Thanks BEKS.

Loved the pictures by the way, not sure if Ben looks prouder of his baby brother or the car

Also, what's this with men with long dark hair and goatees? I've got one of those too

tex111 · 07/11/2005 10:49

Hi gals, just popping in to say that Rosamund Rae arrived last Tuesday as planned. We came home on Friday and are both doing well. My recovery has been a bit slow because apparently there was a lot of scar tissue from my first cesarean and some of my organs had stuck together (ugh!). Feeling much better now but will be on pain killers for a bit longer.

Rosie is lovely with a tiny bit of light brown hair and a very expressive funny little face. She weighed 8lb 4oz and was 21in long which seems titchy to us compared to Tobes.

Unfortunately, Toby came down with a virus and has been vomiting so life has kicked up a couple of notches in the last few days! Mom and Dad are here which makes a huge difference.

Hope you're all well. I'm planning to do a birth announcement with more details and I want to catch up on the thread. Take care!

tex111 · 07/11/2005 10:53

Beks, just saw your pics. Gorgeous! I was 19C at the PRUH. So funny to think we were in the same place at different times. Don't you love the stylish gowns.

tex111 · 07/11/2005 10:59

Just loaded a pic in member profiles. Not a great one but I'll try to update soon.

CADS · 07/11/2005 11:07

Twinkle - thanks and hope everything runs smoothly on Friday.

Tex - Congrats and welcome to the world Rosie. Hope Toby gets well soon and enjoy having your folks around, can't wait till mine get here.

Tessa - Hope you have a lovely homebirth. Look forward to hearing about it. Have you done the dishes!

novadandypowder · 07/11/2005 11:19

Beks - Can't believe you posted pics, hurray! But I always knew you would succumb, he he! You and family look just great

Tex - Congratulations, you and baby look lovely
I thought you were going in today for some reason, duh!

Tessasmum - Thinking of you!! How exciting!

Well, I've been for a scan this morning and all is well. Am concerned though about baby's weight. Was told he is 8lbs and with still 3 weeks till EDD am worried that I will not be able to deliver this size of baby normally. She just kept saying 'very big baby' but was pleased, can you asked to be induced for fear of size?

Check in pls enthusia. Still no BoB!!!!

LilJ · 07/11/2005 13:13

HI everyone.

Having a relaxing day guzzling raspberry leaf tea, but absolutely no sign of baby ready to come out yet (I'm not due until the 25th, but any time now would work for me!)

ChaCha - I've got a growth scan tomorrow as the baby was 6.25 lbs at 34 week scan and they said that if baby is still looking big tomorrow they might induce a week early, but the midwife pooh-poohed the whole scan thing and said that I shouldn't worry as scans are not terribly accurate in re: size. I do fear having a 12 lb baby, but I'm sure it will be fine in the end.

Am doing all the things you should do to get labour to come along, none working yet! I'm off to meet the girls from my ante-natal class for a walk on Hampstead heath this afternoon so maybe a long walk will help ...

Hi all
Had lots of severe BHs over w/e which seemed to be every half hour all friday night and then for a couple of hours sat and sun but came to nothing in the end and still no baby. Feels much lower though so may have engaged (cant remember any of this the first time round). Due on Wed but no more m/w till next tues as she is on hols - must have baby by then surely!!!! Planning nice lunch out on Wed though for distraction so it would be a shame to miss it- but would prefer baby to put in appearance. Its exciting hearing about all the arrivals and hopefully everyone is having the experience they wish for.
cheers for now - still in one piece

tessasmum · 07/11/2005 14:27

Things going slowly here - contractions quite erratic, between 4-15 mins and lasting between 10-25 secs. Not impressed as got to 9cms in 2 1/2 hours with Tessa!
She has just gone to play with a friend for the afternoon so I'm going to concentrate on doing as much as I can to get things moving. Making soup, making beds, maybe a bit of housework and a walk round the park. Keeping fingers crossed that it all gets a bit more regular!

rodeo1 · 07/11/2005 14:29

Congratulations Tex! And welcome to the world baby Rosie! Join us on the post-natal soon

Tessasmum, fab news! Hope everything goes well looking forward to your imminent announcement!

Cads, good to hear from you, I'm sure you'll get your homebirth!

Love and labour vibes to the rest of you x x x

Busyalexsmummy · 07/11/2005 15:18

PHEW!!, just finished the glossing in ds's room, all thats left to do now is put the border+stickers up, put the shelves up, put the double curtain rail up+curtains and hopefully borrow MIL's carpet cleaner to give the carpet a once over! thankgod when its done as the house is totally upside down and there is decorating stuff everywhere!

tessasmum- hope it goes well, its a bummer when the contractions mess around like that isnt it! especially if tessa was quick + straightforward, home you get your homebirth!gd luck!!!!!!

tessasmum · 07/11/2005 16:20

Decided to change the way I'm looking at this erratic labour thing. Tessa was quick once things really got going but my waters broke nearly 24 hours before anything happened. I'm now going to treat this phase a bit like that, then it looks more positive as at least something is happening - spot the one who did psychology
Seems to be getting more regular as we speak and I've just turned the TENS machine up for the first time all day so we are going in the right direction..

Busyalexsmummy · 07/11/2005 16:22

oooooooooooh how exciting!
