KristinaM · 05/11/2005 19:48

hi karma? is your Ds too small for fireworks or has DP taken him?

karmamother · 05/11/2005 20:01

My Ds is with his Daddy this weekend, My DP is at work till 1am I really should be doing a bit of painting but can't be bothered. Felt yukky all day & have had diarrhoea so I wonder if my body is getting ready for something....?

Sorry you're still sore. I've only seen ECV's being done, so I don't know what happens the next day. Speaking of baby moving down into pelvis, I got that feeling last night, like she was pressing on my rectum, sorry if TMI.

BTW, I've been watching your messages to Tweeni, you're spot on. Don't think she's replied to yet has she? Hope she sees a MW soon.

KristinaM · 05/11/2005 20:24

No karma you shoudl NOt be painting - you shoudl be resting or indulging yourself in a film or DVd or magazine. especially when you cant have a bar of chocolate with it . is alcohol out as well coz of teh sugar? Not that I'm implying you woudl over indulge in preg but as you knwo one or two units a week is OK

I've had the runs too for about a week. At first I was worried thinking it was A SIGN ( baby was still breech) but as its been going on for a while I guess its just one of those things.....

The ECV was ok - I mean it was sore like an amnio but obvioulsly goes on a lot longer. But not sore like a big contraction! Just didnt relaise that i woudl be so sore and bruised afterwards. Hospital didnt mention it so maybe its not usual. I suppose its compounded by head descending when i'm still bruised. obviously has a bit to go yet as doeosnt yet feel like its on my back passage!!! Have you still got that big poo feeling???!!!

Dont knwo if tween i is an adult troll or just a mixed up teenager. If she is a 17 yo with a concealed preg then its a bit concerning - hope she does seek appropriate help soon rather than pissing about on mumsnet. OTOH she may just be a kid who is curious about pregnancy but you woudl think she coudld just read stuff? maybe just attention seeking, who knows?

I'm a bit concrend that we have no news from beartime. Suspect she may have had to be transferred - hope she didnt end up in theatre

Are you going to try expressing antenatlly? That is such a weird concept but makes prefect sense if it works!

karmamother · 05/11/2005 20:37

Thanks for giving me permission to sit on my arse I do think about chocolate on a regular basis but all I can eat is chocolate muller light yoghurts. I'm sure I could have the odd square but that would make me feel worse...I'd want the whole lot.
The big poo feeling has gone, thankfully, but bubs is trying to get out via my belly button. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a knot in the cord when she's born.I sincerely hope her behaviour in utero doesn't continue once she's born. Do you speculate about your baby's personality?
I shall try expressing colostrum once I get some bags to freeze it in. Apparantly, sitting in a warm bath makes it easier. Just wonder whether to take it with me when I go in in labour, or wait until I've delivered. If it stops her going hypoglycaemic then I'll be so glad I did it.

KristinaM · 05/11/2005 20:57

hate to tell you....but DS1 was a very active baby in utero and still is a very active toddler. Friends who have 3 and 4 children look at me sympathetically and say " how do you EVER get anything done?"

and this baby is just the same....

I have this vision of you sitting in the bath expressing .... tell me its a hand pump or you are hand expresing? Dont want you elctrocuted. Better lock the bathrom door since Dp is a bit weird about BF!!!!!

Do you have a name chosen yet? Your Ds is Oliver, right? Great name, lots of things go with Oliver

We are still undecided, despite knwoing its a boy for ages

KristinaM · 05/11/2005 20:58

oops sorry need to go, Dh and Dd back from fireworks

karmamother · 05/11/2005 21:05

looks like we'll have our hands full in a month's time! And I thought boys were livelier than girls?

I'll be hand expressing into the bag as Mears thinks such a small amount would get lost in the pump! I am a bit scatty at the moment so I might have tried the electric one......

We've recently made a breakthrough on the name front. I like Libby, he doesn't. His DD, my DS & I all like Ella, he doesn't. However, whilst watching The Weakest Link this week, (I kid you not) one of the contestants was called Erin which we both thought was a lovely name. I think he was swayed by her blonde hair & pretty face. Still, it looks like a strong contender. What about you?

karmamother · 05/11/2005 21:05

Catch you later.

novadandypowder · 05/11/2005 23:10

Erin is a lovely name Karma and not one that you hear that often.

Kristina - ditto Karmas comment about Tweeni

Had one glass of champagne (we've been saving a bottle from our wedding to celebrate the first child) and one glass of wine with dinner, and almost ended up falling asleep in my main course. The good news is we managed to not talk about Natalie during dinner.

DH doing the night shift again (hurrah for birthdays).

Hope everyone is well

SharonTW · 06/11/2005 01:05

oh Nova we've done the same saved bubbly from our wedding, it's still nicely chilling but hopefully not for long.
Hope you girls are all sleeping tightly x

SharonTW · 06/11/2005 01:11

sorry didn't realise Nova it was your birthday , hope you had a lovely day.
Do these up the v#*ina pains getting stronger mean something should be happening soon ??

SharonTW · 06/11/2005 01:12

sorry will go now promise ...
anyone else's belly square ???

Diege · 06/11/2005 10:26

Gosh where is everyone? Usual 5.45 wake-up call for us, though it's surprising what you get used to! I always wake at 5.30 now anyway, and get quite resentful if there's no knock on the bedroon door! (yes, they knock .
Looks like there's been a few more false alarms - half the panic I think is about the unknown (when, where...)and when it starts for real I'm sure we'll all be fine ; it's not like we can avoid it!
Kristina/Karma: one of those conversations you think youwould never have, but are big poos a sign of impending labour? Or does it turn to diarreah (sp!)before it starts? My piles are the worst ever at the moment, and prescribed cream doesn't seem to be working. Any suhhested remedies?
Really surprised about bruising Kristina - never imagined you'd see them on the outside! You must be relieved that the head seems to have engaged now!
Karma: I love 'Erin' - always have since the Waltons. LOve Libby too, as it's our choice for a girl (well, LIberty), but sure it's a boy.
Sharon - yes, my bump has changed shape and is certainly angular, with 'corners'now as opposed to rounded shape. Probably something to do with reduced fluid at end of pregnancy. Makes it seem more imminent though!
Yes, made it to hair appointment . Had hair extensions put in (highlights, not length - good for me as I'm v. dark and colour takes ages to 'lift'). Hairdresser had woman in 'slow labour' ther other day, who seemed really calm about it all (!!!). Getting overly confident now, and have booked blow dry for Thursday (someone else has Thurs appoint?). 99% sure I won't make it though, as I am convinced bubs will come on Tuesday, based on past pregs!.Oh well, you can't have everything!
Diege, 39 wks today! .

KristinaM · 06/11/2005 14:40

Apparently big poos and the runs and even throwing up are signs of early labour. But I am a bit sceptical myself - it seem that almost anything is a sign of early labour or late pregnancy,so how do you tell the difference???

eg Baby more/less active, feeling tired/ frantically nesting, ravenously hungry/ off food, feeling sick/throwing up, off sex/on sex, distant& laid back / very grumpy, bump getting bigger/bump dropping ect etc ect

Erin, Libby, Liberty all are great names Did someone say Louie as well? We cant have L names as they are terrible with our surname, so of course I like them all. Also like Lewis and Lily...

Diege · 06/11/2005 15:04

LOL re: signs of impending labour . Didn't notice any particular sign (other than increased discharge) when dds were due. We'll wonder where we had the time to ponder on poos etc. (other than the colour/consistency of our baby's) in a few week's time!
Yes, Louie is one of my boy names; loved Oliver too, but our surname is 'Wood' and didn't fancy 'Ollywood'!
What names are you going for Kristina?

Evening all,

How's everyone? Happy Belated Birthday Nova - I only just caught up on everyone's news. Sounds like a peaceful weekend.

Kristina - The signs you mention for early labour are what I've been having for days now. I'm glad that someone else is going through the same, you mentioned every single one that I go through, amazing! How are you feeling now? How's the bruising? If babe has now moved into pelvis was all worth it eh? I'm really happy for you

Twinkle - Not long to go now. I wish, like you, that I had a date for the arrival of this little one. Mum is leaving tomorrow night as it could still be a few weeks with the promise of return a few days before EDD if he's not yet arrived. I'm all over the place at the moment from wanting her to stay and look after me to having house to myself again. Moody, moody, moody!!! I just soooo want this baby here now..

..Had a dream of labour twice last night..my show was a grape in the toilet bowl, very interesting, followed by weird hospital scenario. Hmmm!

Ohh..Diege, glad you got your hair done before the the big day. Sounds lovely. Sorry if i've missed anyone - I always do but it takes so long to catch up these days.

NO news from BoB, CADS or Enthusia, but think Enthusia is probably relaxing with DH this weekend. PinkMinx never posted since leaving work and there are a few others who no longer post. Will try to update stats if no one else does it before hand.

Have scan tomorrow morning, fingers crossed xx

Sorry Hamster - LOL

tessasmum · 06/11/2005 19:49

Well fireworks didn't set anything off either so took it easy today!
I'm actually not due till 10th Twinkle but GP has 4th down so have been booked in for 'overdue' appointment at hospital on my due date. Really want baby to turn up before then as don't fancy getting stroppy with the hospital, though I will if necessary.

Now feel ready for this baby. Finished the curtains for our bedroom and fitted the carseat today. Have a different car since last time but the lie-flat seat fits in this one much better, there is even enough room for Tessa and the baby in the back which we didn't expect.

Diege - much sympathy on the piles front. I had one that appeared when pg with Tessa, to be joined by MANY friends once I'd actually had her (all that pushing!). The original one stayed but has been joined by a few more now, with no doubt more to come The Gp prescribed Anasul (?sp) suppositories which sorted things out very quickly last time. Not sure if you can get it over the counter.

Must be a trend here, we also have a bottle of bubbly from our wedding chilling, waiting for D-day. Have a great image of lounging in the bath with a large glass in my hand - another REALLY good reason for a homebirth in my opinion

BEKsmum · 06/11/2005 21:27

Evening girls, dh has put together some photos of Thomas' birth and a couple of his big brother. Needless to say I'm the one in the bed!!!

Hope you are all ok, Beks

Photos here .

karmamother · 06/11/2005 22:00

Evening all.

Beksmum, love the photos! And look at all that lovely vernix, bet his skin was nice & soft afterwards.

Diege, sorry about the haemorrhoids. Reading your post reminded me of a Victoria Wood sketch in which she asked her mother to knit 2 hats, one for the baby & one for the haemorrhoid! I actually needed an op to remove mine after having DS. Now, THAT hurt!

Chacha, CADS posted on a thread she started about breech babies & she said last Friday that following a scan, head is now down.

Nova, forgot to wish you a happy birthday, hope you had fun.

Thanks to all of you who like my choice of name, it's always reassuring that you haven't picked an oddball name. Speaking of which, I have a small collection of "chav" names I've encountered at work. My 2 faves are Pepsi-Chantelle & Pocohontas (I swear I haven't made that one up)

For the first time in ages I haven't gone to the pub quiz with DP, must be a sign. Well I can hope, can't I?? No more pains but the BH's are still good & strong with the RLT I'm taking. Hope you all had a good weekend & I'll catch up tomorrow.

CADS · 07/11/2005 09:07

Hi everyone

Hope you are all well.

Congrats to all the new moms that have had their little angels since I last posted.

Haven't really had much to say lately. Having the some pre labour niggles as everyone else and am really fed up of being pregnant. Can't wait until baby arrives.

Midwife has had me stressed over the last 6 weeks because she keeps telling me that baby is breech. Have had to have two scan since 36 weeks to confirm position and luckily the baby has been head down both times. Think she is desperately trying to get out of doing my homebirth. Thankfully, I didn't go into labour between her checks and the scans because I would of landed up going to hosiptal unnecessarily and missed out on my homebirth. My next check is at 40+3 and am hoping baby arrives before then because I really don't want to see my midwife ever again.

Karma - Thanks for posting on my breech thread. Think it is a case of baby having a big bottom.

Nova - Happy birthday, sounds like you had a great day. Have to agree, Baby whisperer is fantastic. If you haven't found it already, there is a website babywhisperer.com (can't do links) which i found really helpful and filled in a lot of blanks that the book didn't answer. Unfortunately, Tracey passed away last year so all the baby whisperer espisodes on DH&H are repeats, but great if you haven't seen any of them before.

Hope we all have quick and easy labours.
