KristinaM · 04/11/2005 10:58

oh twinkle forgot to tell you that i consulted homeopathic prescribing pharmacist yesterday and he said i can take the arnica tablets today for bruising as well as during / after labour / CS. And they are fine in BF.

twinkle1 · 04/11/2005 10:58

sorry Kristina

Busyalexsmummy · 04/11/2005 11:00

beartime-ohhhhhhh how exciting!

kristina-yes, imagen my horror after they weighed ds after birth and told me his weight, I nearly fainted!
still havent decided on a name but I still like Alfie/Max for a boy, although we cant really call Max as its dps brothers dog!
Girls Im still not 100%happy with any of the shortlist!

Diege-re matrix-practice, practice, practice, make sure your aiming for the top point of the red arrow.tilt the matrix very slightly forward whilst doing so. hth!

Nothing to report here, started having cramps yesterday lunchtime which lasted till about 6pm, nothing regular and with lots of those"sharp up the vagina pains" hoping this is beginnings of signs that labour might not be too far away...

good luck beartime!.......

she tried first without the drug as babys bum was not in pelvis but she couldnt get him round past transverse. Thne she tried with the drugs. i found the shaking and palpitations quite unpleasant but went after about half an hour.Manovering the baby was sore but not as bad as contractions!!!! Tho will be very cross if he moves back. At least i will have tried everything. Will be even more cross if i have a bad vaginal delivery, then will regret not having CS.Its always a gamble isnt it?

KristinaM · 04/11/2005 11:04

how dare he call his dog one of the names on my shortlist!!!!!

twinkle1 · 04/11/2005 11:10

Kristina, you are braver than me
Babies dont know what trouble they cause!!!! as long as they are comfy.I have to say my DD was breech and stayed that way and she is 4yrs old now and still sleeps in the strangest posistions

MW came about 11:15 and gone again now, since someone rang her saying her waters were breaking when she was s'posed to be visiting so she still has the visiting to do (thankfully the other was a false alarm tho - do NOT want to go into hospital due to short staff!)

She said it was OK for DH to go to his flu jab, cos at 12pm I was 5cm dilated so she reckoned wouldn't be ready to give birth till 5pm. He's back now!

I started going for a walk after she left but in too much pain, has to stop after 30 secs and come back, then puked in kitchen sink!

She said cervix is paper thin, and waters are still there. Hated the internal though - worse than the contractions I think! But then I cried when I had my cervical smear done!!!!!

Might eat something small then go back in bath.

rodeo1 · 04/11/2005 12:50

Wow! You're 5cm already! Well done beartime, it's going really well isn't it?! I'm going to be on here all day!

twinkle1 · 04/11/2005 13:16

Beartime,
glad its going well, you should be tucked up in bed tonight with your baby
A bath sounds like a great idea should help with pain.If you have any try sucking boiled sweets, they give you lots of energy but you tend not to puke them up as they are so quickly absorbed!!!

grannygoose · 04/11/2005 13:54

Goodafternoon ladies - excuse me if I am not myself, but I think I am suffering from post traumatic stress disorder!!!!!!

My little boy arrived very quickly yesterday morning 6h48 weighing in at 7 lbs. There was no time for any pain relief, and as soon as I feel more normal, I will post the details on the postnatal thread.

All I can tell you now is that you forget the pain immediately after you give birth, although my sore throat is a reminder of how loud I was screaming.

Hope you are all taking good care of yourselves and have a lovely weekend

  • lots of love from a very shell shocked GG.
KristinaM · 04/11/2005 14:51

novadandypowder · 04/11/2005 16:03

just a quickie to say congratulations to all the new babies - that includes you beartime as i'm sure your little one is here already

what is it with all these quick labours? not a single tale of pain and horror yet!

karmamother · 04/11/2005 17:20

Bloody hell, I've missed all the excitement! Beartime is probably delivering right now, hope she's nice & quick.

Twinkle1, its great to be able offer help like this, isn't it?
Congrats to the other new babies too. They all seem to be quick, don't they? Hope it's catching!

Alfiesmum, I love Oscar too. My ds is called Oliver which is a bit similar & it's great not having a really common name.

KristinaM, still haven't started the decorating but DP thought a spot of BDing this afternoon might bring things on. Disappointed him, however, as we ended having a rather emotive & upsetting conversation about my birth plan wishes. Long story, but we have very different views. About your "friend", I have a theory about women who have relatively painless labours - apart from gagging them, not every woman has period pain to the same level so why should labour be any different? It's not really due to pain thresholds, more that we all labour differently. She shouldn't compare her labour to anyone else's. This subject really gets my goat, actually.

Chacha, Eid Mubarek!!! Enjoy your celebrations, they'll be very memorable as being the last one before bubs is born! Take lots of photos so you can remember your gorgeous bump.

Got new paintbrushes & paint so I shall start before I get settled on the sofa in front of this laptop.

JenJam · 04/11/2005 17:28

it's a nailbiter on here today....

CONGRATS GG! although your ominous sounding message is a little scary. hope the PTSD is a joke and you're on top of the world....looking down on creation

beartime how are you?!!! it sounds like you are doing great! ah push it! push it good. ah push it. push it real good

i've been in for more checks today and breastfeeding workshop - one woman bought her a partner who i wanted to smash in the face....he kept making irritating comments a la 'all women should breastfeed' otherwise 'why not just bring a cow in with you when you give birth' and in response to my surprise at how long breastfeeding may take and how often it needs to be done 'well you signed up for that job when you conceived' chuckle chuckle. he wasn't even trying to be funny/amusing he was being serious!!! and i'm sure he was getting off watching the baby suckling on the avent video! what a co*k!

Diege i piss*d myself laughing at your dp's labour bag contents!

right i'm off for a lie down now good luck everyone over the weekend with your loverly little babies and bumps (enthusia i see the big lottery finger pointing over to your neck of the womb!

Hey diddle diddle...congratulations on your pregnancy progress! i'm very pleased to hear things are running smoothly.

can't stop talking in song (you can probably spot a few songs and nursery rhymes in my post
