Oh Bewitched, I am a sprout lover too. DH hates them so they do turn into a Christmas thing for us but then I eat them until you can't get them anymore. We have the family round at Christmas (sister who as sat next to you at the show, Dad, his partner and her 2 teenage sons)...Can't wait again actually!

Just got back from my walk and hands and feet are swollen..plus...how out of breath did I get!?!?! We live in a very hilly area so I guess a waddle to the top is bound to be a bit breathless now.

Hope you enjoyed your Twix!!

Jasnem · 28/10/2005 21:15

I'm back from a day out in sunny Holloway. I was given a seat on two packed trains on the way home this evening, and I didn't even have to ask!

Thell - thanks for the reassurance re your location. I'd love to be brave enough to try a home birth again, and if I could guarantee it would be like the first time I would, but there are no guarantees in this game, and anyway I think DP would probablychain me to the hospital if he thought there was any chance of me not going this time.
Also, another vote for sage/hazelnut here.

Tic tac - like the new new name don't let the imposter push you out.

Evening everyone!
Hope everyone good.
Flame hope you are doing better than me on the dummy front. My DD has been ill, so I gave in!!

flamebat · 28/10/2005 21:43

Huge happy dance here - 9 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She asked for it today, for the first time all week. The dummy fairies are coming with a dvd for her (when Play deliver it).

flamebat · 28/10/2005 21:44

(I would have given in to poorly baby though)

hotmama1 · 28/10/2005 22:13

Evening girls - dp is out so I thought I would log in for a bit!

My third trimester starts tomorrow - very scary thought - this pregnancy is going so quickly.

Does anyone else feel really bunged as infull of gas etc. I am so knackered running after a one year old - just as well that the little sweetheart sleeps all night or I would be totally knackered.

Keep the soppy stories coming - like having a girly moment!

3k · 28/10/2005 23:29

Evening all,

I went to docs again this morning to have blood pressure re-checked and it was still high at 158/92 so doc has put me on tablets to get it down. I also mentioned that my ugent glucose tolerance test he wanted me to have was not going to happen until mid Dec so he has booked me with nurse next Friday to have a fasting blood test, check water for protein because of my blood pressure and also to re-check BP and see if it is going down.

TicTac - I had a rash for about 10 days, went to docs last week and he gave me some cream but I went to sainsburys the night before and bought Palmers Coco Butter cream and it got rid of the rash before I even used the prescribed stuff. It took about 2 days and now it's very faint so may be worth a try. Belly still very itchy though but apparantly you can get these rashes and they are nothing to worry about.

Tabs - my travel system came yesterday too, DH has put it up and it is taking up room in my dining room. Got to have a sort out - dont know where half of this stuff is going to be stored once baby comes.

I also popped to Bluewater on Wednesday after work and bought some Huggies from Boots and claimed my free changing bag starter set and Avent set. Not bad for a freebie!! Also I bought some really nice bibs in Mothercare, they are plain and terry backed but lovely and soft for a newborn. I dont like the ones with plastic on the back. I got some pampers vouchers in the post yesterday too which are handy and my friend keeps sending me vouchers for nappies as she cant use the smaller sizes anymore. Speaking of nappies my sister in law popped round last night and said Sainsburys ones are brilliant - the same as Huggies etc and £1.70 cheaper a pack.

She also told me about her epidural, how her labour was 8 hours of boredom as she had no pain etc - I could be tempted! I am willing to see how I go first of course but it did sound good!!

DH asleep in front of TV now as has been building wardrobes in baby's room for past 3 night, starting to take shape now and I'm hoping to paint next weekend. Best go and wake him up and send him to bed as he has work in morning.

Night Night xxxx

cuffyj1 · 28/10/2005 23:53

Hi all, on my way to bed so thought i'd jst catch up on the days goss.

Chloe55 - I only filled antenatal class form in at 24 wks. Midwife told me to get in before 20 wks but i didn't get round to it, so she just said to fill it in when i went for my 24 wk check so you should be ok.

You all seem so organised with decorating nurserys. We haven't made a start yet. Bought most things to put into it just need to buy some paint and get it on the wall (well dh does while i just watch!)

Right night everyone i'm gonna try get some sleep now.

thell · 29/10/2005 14:59

Hello everyone. I'm not expecting a chat - I realise you're all sensibly doing weekend things, but thought I'd catch up on yesterday.

Lots of sympathy to you all with achy bits and rashes. I have been thinking 'Gosh, I'm so lucky not to have any of these problems,' but realised that most of you are several weeks ahead of me and I could have it all to come!! I woke up early this morning with horrible indigestion, so maybe it's already starting,....

I'm dying to get going on the nursery - I'm sure I'll be decorating it before we've even unpacked the rest of the house! Only supposed to be 2 weeks to moving day, but it's not looking likely. Delay should only be a week-ish though. Want to buy the lovely red Jane travel system I've picked out and wheel it around the living room!

Thanks for all the Hug-a-Bub suggestions...I too like the sage & hazlenut, but it will show up any dirt and may grow to look grubby after I've carried a whole family around in it. I'll make up my mind by Monday

Have a good weekend all. x

Bewitched · 29/10/2005 20:17

Thell - I'm one of the early ones, but haven't had any problems so far either, so you may still be lucky.

Cuffyj1 - I haven't done much with my nursery yet, but we're not going to paint it, so I suppose in a way it is close to being ready anyway! We finally ordered the furniture today - hurrah! Should probably arrive in time for Christmas - they are quoting 6-8 weeks for delivery, but say that sometimes it can be earlier. Really must get on with sorting out what we're going to do with the bed that's in there at the mo.

3K - next Friday sounds much more sensible for your GTT. We've put our pushchair in the conservatory/breakfast room for now - since we moved the enormous Cross Trainer out to the shed last month there's been an unusually large amount of space in there. I want to take it for a walk down the road, but DH says no - misery guts! We have our godson (with his parents) coming over on bonfire night and we're going to go to a display at our village pub, so hoping we might be able to put him in it to try it out!

Bah for Boots and their parenting club. Gave them my forms 6 weeks ago, but still not heard anything back from them. If they don't send me stuff for another 2 weeks and I miss all the stuff that they only give pre 28 weeks then I shall be having words!!

Bewitched, phone the number on the parenting club terms and conditions (you'll find it on the boots site) I got through to a really helpful lady who cancelled and reinstated my embership, my new vouchers cae less than 2 weeks later...worth a try! They will admit they have had loads of problems with the darn things!

my Skip hop change bag arrived and I have been making space in the kitchen for all the baby stuff. She now has 2 cupboards all to herself!

ixel · 29/10/2005 21:14

Flamebat... I've had stuff from Boots 2nd time around. Except I didnt read the voucher for the huggies set properly, I thought it came in the post. So I bought a pack of nappies, handed the voucher in, and they didn't say anything to me. Gits! So thats my free change bag out of the window dizzy pregnant head!

But I'm feeling very free today.... dh had ds, which gave me an entire day off!!! Left the house 9am and got back 6pm Thats the longest I've ever been without ds in his little 2yr life. I did loads of shopping, mainly for xmas, but also some new boots and a bag for me. And found a Chicco play kitchen with 'authentic' sounds in the charity shop for a fiver!! So thats ds's birthday sorted next month. Would never have managed to get it home if I'd had him with me. Then I went to Starbucks and relaxed, with no little person bouncing on the chair next to me. Also had a look what was on at the pictures, but nothing I really fancied. i'm knackered from all the walking, but I got so much more done being on my own.
The only down side was that ds wouldn't come to me for a cuddle when I got back in... I dont think he could believe that I'd left him all day. I think I'm forgiven now though!

Jasnem · 29/10/2005 22:55

I don't usually shop at Boots, as it's a bus ride away, but I have been inspired to go to their site and sign up for the advantage card and parenting club. It must be worth it for all that free stuff! I have also discovered that they are selling the buggy i want at 10%off, but I bet that offer finishes by the time I get my card. I wasn't actually planning on buying it 'til the baby is 6 weeks or so old, so I think I'll just take my chance for now.

does any one else get cramp? I leapt out of bed last night with it in my calf, and it has felt tender all day today. Quite odd.

3k · 29/10/2005 23:05

Hi Jasnem,

I have been getting cramp during the night but only when I wake up and stretch, it's awlful!!! I dont know why you get it when you are pregnant it is so odd.

I have had another sleepy day, DH is out on a stag night so I'm sitting here in my PJ's ready for bed, been to my mums for a few hours though but feel shattered all the time. Have taken a few of my BP tablets now so really hoping to start feeling better this week. Baby been moving a lot over the past few days too and is doing so as I'm typing this.

Keep looking at my travel system smugly - I want to try it out!!!! Once the nursery is finished I will put it up there out of the way but I still keep going in there and looking round thinking "there will be a baby in here soon!!!"

flamebat · 30/10/2005 05:55

Cramp - don't stretch your feet away from you!!!!!! Bring your toes up towards your face, and stretch like that - cramp is much less likely then.

Bewitched · 30/10/2005 06:43

Another one having trouble sleeping eh flame? Spent the last 2 hours tossing and turning in bed and finally decided that I might as well just get up!

OP posts:
thell · 30/10/2005 11:04

Girlies - cramp can be caused in pregnancy by a low level of vit B6. In fact most pregnancy symptoms are implicated by low B6; varicose veins, water retention, cramps and bad cases of sickness. It's a fairly safe supplement to take, but best to get advice though.

I think I'm going to start taking extra supplements of Omega 3 & 6 oils soon, as it's brain-growing time over the last trimester - and I want to make my skin as stretchy as possible!

hotmama1 · 30/10/2005 11:16

Morning girls - dp has taken dd out so I can put my feet up - bliss!

My back is absolutely killing me - it doesn't seem to make any difference what I do - never had a problem with dd, and I weigh less this time too! Seeing the mw on Thursday so see if she can give any advice.

Ordering my travel system and new nursery furtniture this week - will only take a few weeks to be delivered - so I better get a move on in moving dd1 from her room as this is where dd2 is to be posted!

Hope everyone is O.K. - it seems the aches and pains are increasing - what's it going to be like at Christmas?

flamebat · 30/10/2005 11:31

I had to get up for a carboot sale, and forgot to change my phone (chnaged all the other clocks, but my phone is the alarm!!!) - I sat here posting, and then noticed what time it said Went back to bed!!!!!!

Tired and grumpy. DH has been doing pumpkins all weekend to sell, and no-one bought them So I've had no break from DD, and my house stinks of pumpkin.

I've got a halloween party this afternoon, and I just want to curl up and sleep. Walking hurts.

Jaysfirst · 30/10/2005 12:12

awwwwww Flame, i am right with you on the walking hurts thing... we went to a Car Boot this morning, i thought gentle waking might be ok, i was out half an hour and in complete agony i feel like i am an Eighty year old lady with crippling osteoporosis, its awful. I even wore my belt, didnt use my crutchs though as the ground was to wet.
I was thinking about this and kindve realising that i just cant do the things i could do before i was pregnant ( this is my first so its all new) Its like my body changes every few days, and i dont have tme to come to terms with all the changes, then when i do manage to finally put it all into perspective , it changes again....its so much like hard work! Still i ony have 62 days to go... so how much more can change in that time....??
Hoppe everyoes weekends are going ok, weather here is lovely, makes al the difference to my mood!

flamebat · 30/10/2005 12:14

I think I'm gonna have to go and see the midwife about my hurting I dunno what she can do to help, but its worth a try.

I have another 2 weeks til my next appointment, but not sure I'll make that long!!

cuffyj1 · 30/10/2005 12:33

Hi, AWWWW sorry for all your aches and pains guys, i must be 1 of the lucky ones i haven't had any problems yet and i think i'm further on than all of you (due 31st Jan) i had 1 afternoon of heartburn and nothing since. I feel left out, not that i want any aches and pains. I am starting to get ugly stretchmarks tho (can't get into the habit of putting cream on everyday and its prob too late to start now they're already here.)

Just ordered the cot and that should be here around 10-12 days time so better get shopping for paint!! Also arranged for pushchair to be delivered 6th Jan. Got most other stuff just need the baby now! Can't wait!

Bewitched · 30/10/2005 19:54

For those of you that use mumsnet regularly, so 'get' the humour, this thread is the funniest thing I have read here!
The whole thread is definitely worth reading (as long as laughing doesn't make anyone's aches worse )
