Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
3k · 30/11/2005 11:04

Yeah Tabs - especially as your baby is due same day as mine -that means she could be here on time from mid-Jan!!!!

teuch · 30/11/2005 11:07

hullo! not much to report here...baby has taken up interesting new position tho which I can't work out for the life of me! Basically now lots of pressure on pelvic floor, very hard right below ribs and a massive protrusion on my right side at waist height...feel kicks (or punches?) under ribs and down at right hip...is it an octopus??!!

Also heard very dubious labour tale yesterday of a woman who climaxed twice during contractions...not sure I believe that one.

Tabs · 30/11/2005 11:11

3K - you're worse than Chloe!! Pippa is not due until the 3rd month from the current one. I've asked her to stay put until then and she is very well behaved, so will undoubtedly oblige her mummy!

Tabs · 30/11/2005 11:12

teuch - what was that woman's DH doing to help relax her during labour?!

Chloe55 · 30/11/2005 11:17

OMG! I saw a thread on labour being an orgasmic experience last week - a bit abnormal if you ask me!

LOL at Octopus!

flamesparrow · 30/11/2005 11:18

Bah to the lot of you! There is still piles of time (and i will be muttering the same thing while I'm in labour ).

Woman climaxing.... maybe she gets off on pain??? I was reading the other day that you should have massage oil in your labour bag for your partner to rub you... I told DH and he laughed, remembering me giving him the distinct impression that if he tried touching me in any way other than holding my hand, I would have bitten his hands off!!!

Jasnem · 30/11/2005 12:20

Hi, on my way to midwife now.

My sil ironed all her first baby's clothes. I didn't believe it 'til I saw her doing it ( while Mil looked after the baby) . I don't even iron most of mine!

I read that thing about orgasms during labour. MAD.

We are NOT CLOSE AT ALL. If I say it very loud, lots of times, it must be true.

My baby wil probably be late (absolutely no evidence for this) so I don't want to be ready too early...

hotmama1 · 30/11/2005 12:30

Afternoon girls.

What are you like ironing babygros - when they go on they stretch so you won't see any creases.

The majority of stuff I bought dd1 could be tumble dried so if I took stuff out straight away never needed to iron - there are very few things I iron for dd - life is too short for ironing.

My massage oils are still unopened in the bag I took with me to give birth to dd1, my sister took them with her when she gave birth to ds in August - they are still unopened and back in my possession - enough said don't you think.

Climaxing in labour obviously a different experience to me (shakes head in disbelief)

Shut up about dates - I have less than 2 months now - aargh.

YeahBut · 30/11/2005 12:43

OK, just to freak you all out!!! Had a growth scan today to check that Smudge is doing OK. Had been told at 20 week scan that Smudge was a girl but the first thing that they told me today (30.5) weeks is that Smudge, is in fact, a BOY!!!! It was pretty obvious too, tbh so I'm not quite sure what the sonographer was looking at during the 20 week scan. The sonographer this morning did tell me that sometimes at 20 weeks if the baby lies in a weird position with its legs together the underside of the scrotum can look very like labia. Covering themselves, perhaps???!!! They did say initially that gender identification is only 70% accurate at 20 weeks but I've never heard of someone having a mistake made before. AND I've only found out because I need extra growth scans because of my previous history. Under normal circumstances I'd have had my 20 week scan and not found out until the delivery!!!!

What on earth am I going to do with all this pink newborn stuff I've been buying? THANK GOD I resisted the urge to buy the pink and flowery maxi cosi car seat!!!!!

Right, am aware that I've probably planted a rather large seed of doubt amongst everyone who thinks they know what they are having so will go away and try to get my head round all of this.

flamesparrow · 30/11/2005 12:45

Well guys... tis Dec 1st tomorrow... We are nearly at 1000 posts on this thread... who's up for a festive due in february title to start tomorrow?

Seeing as we normally spend ages discussing titles, thought if I suggest it now, we can have one ready to start in the morning

Are you ok to start it for us Tabs (since you know all the stats )

flamesparrow · 30/11/2005 12:47

A boy?!?!?! I didn't think we could produce boys on this thread!!!

With the pink things... do you still have reciepts? If it is unwashed most places will let you swap for boyish things if you explain the cock up.

If not... maybe some pink mummies on here want to do shopping

hotmama1 · 30/11/2005 12:48

Yeahbut - what a surprise - better look at the name book again. This is something for those who think they are having girls as apparently this is where some mistakes are made - bit more obvious if you are having a boy.

I think most shops are O.K. about exchanging baby stuff - hopefully you haven't taken the tags off and washed them.

At least I know for definite that dd2 is a girl as I had a CVS and therefore was a chromosome test.

This is so going to freak some Feb girls out - can't wait for the posts.

Chloe55 · 30/11/2005 13:05

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another boy!!!! What a shock though!! I must admit I thought oh God if this baby is a girl now DH will be gutted as he is expecting a boy and we have bought boy things, he is def boy though - I have a VERY clear 3d image of his dangly bits! . Can't believe it though - I have heard of them getting it wrong but I have never known of it happen first hand as such. Are you pleased? Still shocked? Or not bothered?

EEEEKKK!!!!!!!!

hotmama1 · 30/11/2005 13:26

What do you think "Due in Feb 06 - Are you a pudding or a cracker?" or something else full of festive fun - but no puns about Santa's sack!

TheOriginalTicTac · 30/11/2005 13:56

HI All...Yeahbut....OH MY GOD!!!!!! I can't believe it. If you can not take stuff back I am sure I could buy some stuff from you!

Now you have made me want to pay for a sexing scan!! JUST TO BE 100% SURE!

How about - too fat to eat Christmas dinner!

flamesparrow · 30/11/2005 13:59

I was planning on eating 3 Christmas dinners, and still having room for pudding

popmum · 30/11/2005 14:02

yeahbut - someone i know was told they were having a girl and out popped (20 weeks later) a boy! so you are lucky to have found out now.
Anyone else just feeling a bit sick? Am worried i won't manage my xmas dinner and it is my favourite of the whole year!!

YeahBut · 30/11/2005 14:36

Actually, I'm still trying to get my head around it, tbh. I'd have been delighted whatever they told us at the 20 week scan - it's more the having had 10 weeks to think and plan for a girl and suddenly have to think for a boy. Also, having had 2 dds, I have no idea what to do with boys!!!! Mind you, better we find out now than at the birth when my hospital bag is stuffed with pink vests and baby-gros.

YeahBut · 30/11/2005 14:38

How about "Due in Feb '06 - are you sure you know what's in your cracker?"

flamesparrow · 30/11/2005 14:39

Very appropriate!!!

3k · 30/11/2005 15:17

OMG Yeahbut!! Another boy on this thread is great though!! I am the same with Chloe as we had a very good view at baby's "cream crackers" when we had our 3d scan at the babyshow so we are definately having a boy.

I like the link "do you know what's in your sack" - very amusing!!! LOL

By the way, I've not ironed any of the babygrows yet - bloody glad I didnt otherwise I would have wasted all that time!!! Was considering it last night though but got too tired in the end! I will be folding and putting in the baskets only now!!!

teuch · 30/11/2005 16:02

crikey yeahbut!! I suppose that kinda validates NHS Lothians policy not to tell after they were sued for wrongfully identifying gender! Can't believe it tho...

flamesparrow · 30/11/2005 16:36

Right, so options so far are....

Due Feb 06 - Are you sure what's in your cracker?
Due Feb 06 - Are you a pudding or a cracker?
Due Feb 06 - Too fat for Christmas dinner

Need some decisions on my name please too So far its a toss up between FlameRobin and FlameTurkey... unless you have any others...

Come add thread names too

TheOriginalTicTac · 30/11/2005 16:42

Flame...I prefer flame turkey (I like Robins so to put a "Flame" in fornt leaves me with disturbing images )

We have Goose every Christmas, very traditional so you could go FlameGoose?

flamesparrow · 30/11/2005 16:43

Geese are too ducklike for me, and I am anti-duck eating
