Chloe55 · 28/10/2005 13:07

Hi Flame - you ok?

flamebat · 28/10/2005 13:29

Sorry - pop-up blocker at my mum's is overenthusiastic... I was loggin in

thell · 28/10/2005 14:36

Hello!

Jasnem - We already live about 15mins drive (in SE London traffic) from the hospital, but are moving even closer!

Flame - that pic of Stitch is never a pumpkin??! Is it?? I love lighting pumpkin lanterns, especially if you put the lid back on and the tealight starts to cook it!

Lovely DH story from the other night - we were on our way home on Weds night quite late, and ended up getting onto a very busy, sardine-squashed-up bus. I'd been feeling fine, but the combination of standing up and especially being too hot made me feel a bit funny. Didn't say anything as DH was hot and knackered having worked a whole day, followed by dragging a tenor saxophone half way across London. He looked up at me, saw right through my grinning at him, and asked a bloke sitting near us 'Excuse me, do you think you could be a real gent and let this lady sit down? She's four months pregnant.'

I know it's not very exciting, but I loved him so much I wanted to squeeze him!!!!
It's things like that that tend to make me blub like a big girl, rather than sad things. A few weeks ago I nearly cried all over his Mum because we were sitting in his parents garden chatting when DH went over without a word to hold a ladder for his Dad!!!

TicTac · 28/10/2005 14:41

Hi all,
So sorry but ther eis so much on here I am not sure I will get time to catch up. I am now back...obviously. Chloe, saw your note about Tictacs mum...well my moterh is pc illiterate so I doubt very much she even knows how to find a website never mind activly add to a thread
So who is this person?!?!

Going to docs at 4 coz I have a v. nasty rash that has not gone with a weeks worth of E45 use.
Cot has arrived, have Huggies starter kit, purchased some napies (3 for 2 and triple points at boots) managed to squeeze in some Christmas shopping last night and finally....shattered!!!

TicTac is very active these days and she doesn't stop morning noon or night. I go to bed and she thrashes away, I get up for a pee in the night and she thrashes away, I have breakfast and off she goes again!!!

Hope you are all well and welcome to any new peeps (couple of names I don't recognise)

Oh Bewitched...will you change your name after halloween too?

YeahBut · 28/10/2005 14:46

Hi everyone, it's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one having completely disproportionate reactions to stuff! It seems to go in cycles, though. I have a week or so of being relatively sane and then go completely beserk at random intervals. My nesting instinct is taking hold, mainly in the form of sorting and chucking out at the moment. We don't half collect some rubbish in this house. Had a huge clear out of the kitchen cupboards last week. Dh had to keep the kids moving - anything standing still was likely to end up in the box for the skip!

Had another growth scan today. Baby is still small but growing and plotting on the same centile curve as my scan 4 weeks ago. Fingers crossed that it keeps going that way. I have another growth scan in 4 weeks time. Had to take the dds with me as it's half term here. Thought the technician was going to be talked to death - am amazed she could concentrate enough to do all the measurements. DDs were really impressed to see Smudge on screen.

Chloe55 · 28/10/2005 14:53

I'm a bit like that Yeahbut - tends to be phases. On a brighter note, at least if your baby isn't a whopper it might pop out like a champagne cork!

What lovely stories Thell, that type of thing also makes me cry at the moment!

I don't know then TicTac, who is this person? She is pregnant btw. Have you got the cot up yet then?

TicTac · 28/10/2005 14:58

Blimey give me a chance Chloe only just got back
Should be painting the nursery this weekend and that will see the cot up. The way I feel at the minute though I just want to curl up on the sofa, put the fire and sleep!!!

ixel · 28/10/2005 14:58

Hello all. Mother in law has gone home so I might have marginally more time to come on here, although I'm sacrificing an episode of Diagnosis Murder at the moment!!

Bewitched.... we did go to the show on the Sunday. But it was all such a rush I didn't have time to have a look at the meeting plans on the thread. I vaguely remembered (or invented) 1pm at the juice bar, but wasn't sure if that had changed, and we were there about 1.30pm. But prob not very cool to turn up with your mother in law anyway!! And ds was in a strop, so we had to keep going back to the Rachel's yogurts stand every 10 mins to appease him with free samples. Tried to feed him free baby food, but he went beserk ('no, yucky, no, yucky').

I have at last made an effort to prepare for this baby; got all the baby clothes out of the loft, washed them, and sorted them into drawers according to size. But why do I have 21 3-6month bodysuits and none in 6-9month size??! Am thinking about getting the new crib mattress the week after next, and saw a very cute elephant in Mothercare, to be the baby's equivalent of ds's comfort rabbit!

And, mother in law bought ds a new carpet for an early xmas pressie, after being horrified at the state of his, which looks great. Just makes the walls look even shabbier!! Will be good as he will be sharing with new baby once it gets to 6 months.

Has anyone got their free nappy bag from Boots yet? The one you get sent if you buy one pack of Huggies? I didn't do it with ds, but thought I might aswell this time, but no sign of it yet. Am I just impatient?? Think I bought the napppies about 4 weeks ago.

TicTac · 28/10/2005 15:13

Ixel, you have to join the Boots parenting club who then send you a pack of vouchers. I got mine yesterday so pootled off to buy huggies which are on 3 for 2 at Boots and also picked up my free starter pack and free avent starter pack too. The change bag is really good actually...well, I have viewed it in terms of leaving it stocked at my dads rather then carrying it around!

TicTac · 28/10/2005 15:45

Does anyone want some Boots parenting vouchers...These ones have come in my recent pack but I wont use them.
200 points on Botanics skincare
100 points on any 6x4 baby picture frame
£2.50 off an Avent ISIS Breast pump
25p off Bepanthen Ointment
All valid until 31/01/06

If there are no takers I shall pop them in the bin.

thell · 28/10/2005 15:49

I ordered a Hug-a-Bub sling at the end of last week; the shop have sent me a list of the colours they have in stock. The two I wanted have been discontinued. I can not decide which other one to get, and it's upsetting me!! I've been mulling over it for 4 days now!!!
Is it too dull to get a black one? I could sew pretty things on it,...

(i am so sad / pathetic)

Bewitched · 28/10/2005 15:55

What are the alternative colours Thell - can we see pics anywhere?

TicTac - I saw posts from TicTacs mum a couple of weeks ago and assumed it was you!
Yes, I'll change name again after Halloween, possibly back to Tabs for a bit, or maybe straight to a Christmas name if I can think of one!

Ixel - very organised having your clothes washed and sorted already. Wouldn't take me long to sort my grand total of 6 bodysuits/babygowns!

OP posts:
thell · 28/10/2005 16:26

You can see the colours here , although this isn't the site I ordered it from.

My original choice was purple and green - truly hippyesque !, or one with lovely swirls all over it.
Can't believe how crap I'm being about it!
I think I'm just having a being-crap day today.

Off to meet DH - please do let me know if you have any colour opinions and I'll read them later!!!

thell · 28/10/2005 16:27

PS: I'm holding back on buying babygrows, with the intention of going nuts in the January sales. Hurrah!

Bewitched · 28/10/2005 16:32

Well I think that from those I would go for plum/hazelnut or sage/hazelnut, with navy/berry in 3rd place. And I would get my baby to wear funky pink trousers with the plum one like in the picture. Either that or I'd have to wear funky pink trousers myself!

8WeeksTillChristmas · 28/10/2005 16:44

Just got back from the doctors and sulking. Feel like bursting into tears and have no reason too really. I feel sore and achy, I have acid heartburn, lack of sleep, stressed out with work and have a nasty rash. Doctors response..."Your pregnant, it happens" Like that is what I wanted to hear....sympathy would not kill these people you know.
Hand me some tissues..

Oh, It's TicTac by the way. Also sulking because someone has partially nicked my name on Mumsnet and that was our babies name ever since we found out I was pregnant and now we are being confused and I feel froced to change my name....actually, I think that is why I feel so pathetic !

Bewitched · 28/10/2005 17:00

So if we really want to piss you off then the thing to do would be to go and register the names 7WeeksTillChristmas, 6WeeksTillChristmas etc .
Actually I couldn't bring myself to do it, as I'm a closet pedant (nowhere near as extreme as some on MN), and it should be Til (short for until) rather than Till (as in cash register)!

Perhaps I'd better add some sympathy to this message, as I don't really want to piss you off! Suggest a nice soak in a cool bath (cool so as not to aggravate rash) and an early night. I'm not surprised that you're knackered after all the dashing up and down the country you've been doing this week.

OP posts:
8WeeksTillChristmas · 28/10/2005 17:04

harrumph.

Just noticed the "till" but I guess it is appropriate given the expense of Christmas?!?!?

Think I am going to have to have a word with my current manager and sugest that travel is out of the question. I am meant to be back South again week after next...don't think I can do it, not if I end up feeling the way I am today.

I am going off to curl up in front of Paul O'Grady now.

8WeeksTillChristmas · 28/10/2005 17:06

Nasty Bewitched on naming conventions

Bewitched · 28/10/2005 17:13

Awww - don't hate me! Was only joking

OP posts:
Frizbe · 28/10/2005 17:15

Oh {{{{Hugs}}}}} Hon, don't change your name, sure you were here 1st!
Thell your dh is a star I'd go for sage/hazelnut as well.
Ixel hurrah re MIL glad to see your back chatting! have to say your all far more organised than me re the new babies tho, I must get my bum in gear during nov me thinks!

flamebat · 28/10/2005 18:42

Navy/jade for me

I'm agreeing with "Don't change your name!!!" (Mainly cos I am easily confused!!!)

Also agreeing with - if you're gonna stick with it, then please can it be Til

Aching lots, but what's new?

Yes, Stitch is indeed a pumpkin - he's getting on well with the selling them... I'm amazed at how much people will pay for a pumpkin!!!

TheOriginalTicTac · 28/10/2005 19:16

Aww Bewitched...I don't hate you at all...it's all in good fun.
I have just ate a huge bowl of Rice Pudding for my tea! Total comfort food. Going to go for a walk now to make myself feel better

Bewitched · 28/10/2005 19:55

Ah - I like that name! Rice pud sounds yummy. Just had some steak and lots of yummy veggies. I do like sprouts at this time of year!

Might go and scoff a twix now though, as haven't had much naughty today (yet ).
