Hello all.
I had a surestart midwife come round this morning, and was given reuable nappies for a £5 deposit, I am very impressed, apparently Hastings and St Leonards are one of the few areas that offers this incentive to be eco-friendly, and I'm very appreciate!
I dont have a regular midwife that i see as mine has been off sick for 2 months and looks like she wont be back, so i could have anyone of a team of 18, which is a bit of a bummer as i liked the idea of knowing who it would be, ah well, at least i have free nappies.... and every time i look at them it makes me realise that
soon they'll be containing a real life baby, yikes!!!!!

TheOriginalTicTac · 25/11/2005 20:28

Hi all..bit quiet on here today, hope it's just because you are all snuggled up close to keep warm!
No snow in Lancashire either but we have been subject to temperatures of -2 if my car is right!
Just got back from great shopping trip at John Lewis and am now in possesion of a car seat!! No idea how to use it despite being shown...I am sure I will figure it out in the light! Although no idea what to do with a baby in there too!

I had some salt and vinegar walkers crisps today (never eat crisps really) and the baby went nuts....totally nuts!! Thought she was going to burst through so I understand the mars bar activity 3K...very funny!

Frizbe · 25/11/2005 20:40

lol at the crisps n mars bar episodes, must remember to try those, if have a quiet day!
Chloe, wow 4d scan, can't wait to see it!
Teuch, snow, sooooo unfair, we want snow too!
Janiewoo wow at the nappies!

Well I got some Xmas shopping done eventually yesterday, at a very much quieter than usual for the time of year Meadowhall! so hurrah, nearly all done! (bar a lot of the kids stuff that is!)

Jasnem · 25/11/2005 21:33

janiewoo at free nappies. I did get some from Essex, but it was when DD2 was 2, and I can't remember what I did with them I know I lent them out, but it was all so long ago. Just going to have to buy some more I suspect.

I've been reading pregnancy mags, and am now aiming to spend time on all fours every day in an attempy to encourage baby into good position. Have not had kicks above belly button at all yet, so am getting worried. I really want a VBAC so am trying everything I can think of....

Frizbe · 26/11/2005 10:20

Know what you mean Jasnem, not sure if I have a hand at the top, but that's not where I want it to be now is it! turn baby turn!

flamesparrow · 26/11/2005 10:57

This baby is wriggling all over the place - I'm starting to think its laid transverse in a starfish shape, to get maximum whacking power at all areas

My bra is starting to get tight again too 3K - I refuse to buy any more... I have spent a small fortune already!!!

Those leaking ladies... have you thought about reusable breast pads - could save you a few pence. I've got a link on here for some 3 for 2 packs if you are interested.

Very @ you with nappy incentives!!! They can't be arsed with saving the world in Bournemouth... it is hard enough to get anything recycled let alone cloth nappies!!!

Isle of Wight... It is cold in Bournemouth, but not a bad cold - sunny. If you are bundled up warm, then it is beautiful weather... I would guess that IOW is a bit colder, but about the same.

Think thats about it from here... still snotty. Depression is sooo much better since my complete melt down the other week - I don't know if it was the complete release letting me bounce back up, or where Spark has shifted and I don't hurt 24/7 anymore.

Oooh, quick bit of advice... If you don't already, start using a non-slip bath math when you are in the bath I had a slight accident yesterday - lost balance, slipped and pulled all muscles down my side. I was the only one in the house, and I had visions of being stranded in the bath til DH got home - I managed to get out though .

Tabs · 26/11/2005 20:09

Flame - great to hear that you're feeling chirpier at the moment. Think Pippa was doing the starfish thing too this morning - even DH was amazed at how many different places she was managing to whack in one go!

Jasnem - have you thought about joining a pregnancy yoga class at all? They do lots of moves that are great for positioning baby.

Ixel - have fun in IOW tomorrow - hopefully it won't snow there!

TicTac - fab news about your blood results - what a healthy lot we all are .

No more leaking for me, so might have just been a one off for the time being.

3k · 26/11/2005 23:54

Hello,

Just had a few friends round for dinner and they have now left so thought I would check in.

Flame - hope you didnt hurt yourself too much with your slip in the bath, I bought a bath mat a few months ago as they say to get one for the baby and I was in Argos and thought I would pick one up. It has come in really handy as I have lost my balance a few times so I really recommend one too.

I want free cloth nappies !

Saw doctor about my blood pressure last night and it has gone up again since coming off the tablets!! He wants to see me on Tuesday and if it has gone up again I will be back on them. So unfair, although today I did have another near fainting episode and came over all hot etc so I'm sure it is on the rise again as I was fine on the medication.

Cleaned out a cupboard in the kitchen today and it is now full of baby bottles, steriliser and breast pump. I need to get the baby stuff out of my spare room so I can get in there and wrap my Christmas presents. We also popped to Wilkinson, bought some shelves and a curtain pole so hoping to do more with the nursery tomorrow. Just want to get organised now, we bought some baskets to store stuff in too as there will be shelves in the wardrobes DH is making, getting excited now!! 10 weeks and I can make use of it all.

By the way, I watched a programe on discovery health today and this woman made pate out of her placenta!!!!!!! made me feel quite sick! Her doola ate some too! Any one have plans to do this????

TheOriginalTicTac · 27/11/2005 10:39

3K - the only plan I have for the placenta is to never see it and have it got rid of ASAP!

I saw a similar show where this hippy family planted it underneath a plum tree saying that they thought it was better use then just eating it as they where able to eat the fruit from the placenta for years to come. Not sure how well that would work because they had several cats around the place all eying up this placenta being planted...I think the cats might enjoy it?!

On that note....off to Tescos now!
Oh and YAY to the Conway sisters being booted off Xfactor last night!!!!

JuA · 27/11/2005 10:40

How lucky getting free nappies - I have just ordered a pile of extra ones - bimbles and some new covers - even though it feels like I spent a fortune when you work out how much it would cost me to put them in disposables - it is definetely going to work out cheaper. (not sure if it does if I include all the washing!)

Tic Tac - really pleased all your blood tests were Ok - you should get away without any more needles now (unless you have an epidural)

Flame - glad you are feeling better - and good to know that your baby is super active. I have one lying head down and one transverse - so all four legs are kicking in the same corner!!

3K - sorry about your blood pressure - at least you know the tablets will bring it down. Is cleaning out cupboards nesting??

Finish work this week - so I will have a bit more time to get things organised - am also going to look ino some help for when the babies come. Someone suggested seeing if the local college could use me as one of their placements for their childcare course! and I think I will give my health visitor a ring and see if there is anything else locally.

Jasnem · 27/11/2005 11:07

morning, I am going for the sleep deprived look today. I was up for no good reason in the night, and still had to get up with the kids at 7.30. DP is still asleep, as hes got a cold .

I stupidly let the kids invite a friend each over to play this afternoon, so now I've got to entertain and feed four instead of two. Sometimes it works really well and they all play nicely... Sometimes I have to spend all my time sorting out arguments and tears... Just have to wait and see what they have in store for me.

Tabs I would love to do a yoga class (I've done it on and off for years), but my old teacher gave up last year when she had a baby, and the only other class I can find is a regular one and the teacher didn't inspire confidence when I spoke to her about coming when pregnant. I have no car so I'm limited as to where I can go.

Jasnem · 27/11/2005 11:11

3k - I saw that program too. Yuk! I don't even want to see mine, let alone eat it.
I hope you get your BP sorted soon, it doesn't sound nice.

JuA - four little legs in one place sounds pretty uncomfortable!
I will admit that it is one of the nicest things about being pregnant for me - I miss feeling the baby move after its been born.

TheOriginalTicTac · 27/11/2005 15:37

Jua - Sounds like a great idea for help, I think it is really sensible to consider it as you will really have your hands full.
On the nappy front, the Lancashire County give away starter kits or re-usable nappies free of charge or 3 months free laundery. One of the ladies in my NCT class who lives in Chorley happend to mention it...I will get the details for you! It is meant to be a great pack too!

Frizbe · 27/11/2005 19:21

Hi all, good to see your all having good weekends, just got ss and dd into bed here, although by the sounds of it, dh is just chasing dd, so she may be out again oopse she's heading for the naughty step......have had a nice weekend, playing and decorating ginger bread men here, also did ss's Karate tournament today, so have been rather busy!

Lol at baby FS
3k no pate plans here either!
Jua Last week at work hurrah! wonder if you'll get double leaving gifts?
Jasnem, hope the kids were all ok together today?

flamesparrow · 28/11/2005 08:49

My friend did the helping mums of multiples when she was on her childcare course - definately look into it!!! I hadn't thought about the whole thing of having 2 sets of arms and legs to whack you everywhere - again, I am thankful for my one

Poo for your blood pressure being back up 3k I'll be intrigued to see what mine is like at my next appointment... I am happier than I was, but not sure I'd say I'm much calmer

So much for my cleaning session on Saturday I got the lounge really really clean... then we went to Tescos and I went a very odd colour apparantly... got banned from more cleaning for the rest of the weekend! (You can guess it was a great hardship for me ).

Placentas - did you know that you need all proper paperwork etc if you want to bury it.... its gotta be 6 ft down etc, and a certain distance away from living areas. I saw mine... the biologist in me got all interested and wanted to have a good look .

Frizbe · 28/11/2005 09:07

REally FS, that's interesting, I guess it stops the animals from digging them up!

Well girls I've officially made 3rd Trimester as of yesterday! so I guess Helen has too!! are we the last?

flamesparrow · 28/11/2005 09:11

I thought 3rd was 28 weeks.... stupid system with these bloody trimesters... never understood em.

TheOriginalTicTac · 28/11/2005 09:17

Flame - LOL at your funny colour..
I wanted to give the house a total blitz this weekend and so far have managed to hoover the stairs, clean kitchen cupboards, polish downstairs and clean the bathrooms...not 1 of the bedrooms got a loook in and nor did I manage to hoover the landing! I had big row with DH though because I asked him to do the stairs last week and he never...it really isn't an activity I should be doing anymore so I did it under protest and "don't you do it now...your a week too late.." argument

TheOriginalTicTac · 28/11/2005 09:19

Oh and as for the placenta burial stuff...that hippy family I told you I saw on TV hardly dug anything at all...literally just under the surface...YUCK!

Chloe55 · 28/11/2005 09:20

Morning girls,

Well, what an amazing weekend! I loved my scanb day and have posted a piccie on profiles - my little one is definitely a boy and he happily picked his nose for us, stuck his middle finger up at us, did a bit of dancing - fantastic!!!

My friends also threw me a baby party which was great fun and they had gone to loads of effort so I have had a lovely weekend, exhausted now though. Well, which catch up with you all in a bit - you've had a busy weekend typing away.

Frizbe · 28/11/2005 09:24

Flame according to the emmas diary thing its 27? who knows!
Tictac, I think I saw that programme! it certainly wasn't that far down was it....
Chloe fab pic honey

flamesparrow · 28/11/2005 09:29

Oooh, bad hippies... I was told both this time, and last that it had to comply with human burial laws, just as a body would. Were they UK hippies?

27 weeks'll do me for 3rd trimester

JuA · 28/11/2005 09:29

We have snow - it has just started snowing and it has covered the deck and the pavements and has only been snowing for about 15 minutes. I have chickened going out to soft play with dd. She is quite happy watching the snow at the moment!

Not sure about the double gifts!! I think last time they waited until I had dd and then got us stuff. I remember one of my friends coming round with presents from lots of different people - everyone is very excited at work and they all want to know when I will be bringing them in!!

Can you imagine trying to bury a placenta 6 feet down in February!! It will take forever to dig a hole in the frozen ground!

Frizbe · 28/11/2005 09:30

lol JuA, where are you for snow?

poppyh · 28/11/2005 09:33

Hi all,
Hope all is well.I had terrible BH last night,DH was quite worried at one point!Feeling better today though.
