The only breatpads i like are johnsons...a bit 'rigid' but good although mams do some lovely ones singly wrapped but a bit pricey! Ordered change bag from states off to ring them now to chase it up!

Morgan · 11/11/2005 19:53

Hi all,

Tabs - i asssume you had the test at Lister - i've got mine in a couple of weeks - sounds like i will be there for ages and i might have to take ds with me ! AHHHH! I really hope not.

Re breastpads i found Johnsons the best last time and i used a lot as well as the breast cup things while feeding and i would fill those and have to empty it into a bottle to fridge/freeze.

Frizbe · 12/11/2005 06:51

Crikey I still got my test to come, hope its not the rigmarole you describe....dd will be in tow...argh!
3k congrats on the comp win
No leaking nipps here?!
But yes I have been getting more irritible with dh, ahem

Well poor old dd was messing about with me last night, and took her weight off her legs, whilst I was holding her hand (walking along), and popped her elbow out, so evening spent in hospital, ensuring it was ok...which it is, just very sore......guess she won't be doing that again....

JuA · 12/11/2005 08:11

Morning

Frizbe - hope your dd is OK and not too sore - what a nightmare A&E on a Friday evening!

I preferred the Johnsons breast pads last time around - don't get the mothercare brand, the edging on them drove me mad and I ended up not using them! I am going to get some washable ones to try this time. My nipples are itching too - really irritating.

yes .... and have no patience with dh - he has been on nights this week and I have hardly seen him - fortunately he tries not to wind me up. And right now he is making soup with dd!! What a star!

ixel · 12/11/2005 11:21

Hello all... am having a rant about another couple of things today!
Firstly, bloody Mothercare. I need a crib mattress which is an unusual size. Went into Mothercare World, and they didn't have it in stock but said they'd order it for me to be delivered free. Then told me to phone the number after 24hrs to find out when it'd be delivered. Dh did this for me, and they told him that it wasn't the system, they dont know when its coming, except it should be before next Thursday. So I have to either sit inside for half the week, or take a chance that I'm in when it comes God, I never want to be stuck in again after ds's chicken pox quarrantine!! Is that normal for Mothercare? Surely they cant just hope you're in, or there'd be hundreds of undelivered items!

The second rant is with the hospital. We went to do the tour round the delivery suites yesterday. Because we both wanted to see, ds had to come with us.. bored stupid, and ratty because it should've been his nap time. When we arrived, I asked for confirmation of where it was, and the antenatal clinic told me to wait by the lifts, a midwife would come at 1pm.There was another couple waiting too. No one came; dh couldn't find anyone to ask, as it was then lunchtime. Then the other woman went off, and came back saying we'd missed it. We found a midwife to ask, and she was really stroppy, and said we should've been by a different lift (which is deep in the maternity dept, and you wouldn't know it was there unless you'd gone wandreing alone anyway, or already had a tour!). She said she'd checked the one we were at 10 mins before the start and no one was there... but four of us WERE there. She said all the midwives were in a meeting now, so it was tough. Dh has no more Fridays off now this year, and once I get to 34wks the tour is 7pm on a Monday... ie ds's bedtime, and will I be bothered to go all that way in the cold when I'm that huge anyway?
So we could've had a really nice day with dh off work yesterday, but it was totally wasted!
If I have an elective c section, it has to be in a sister hospital... that takes FOUR buses to get to, so I doubt I'll be bothered to visit that one either!!

Other than that, and the fact that I have been banned from seeing a really good friend for reasons that are not my fault (long story), all is great here! Thinking of starting to do xmas craft stuff with ds this week. He's got some decorate-your-own cups and plates to do for grannies, which should be interesting! And its his birthday on Friday, so there's still alot of party organising to do!

Tabs · 12/11/2005 15:10

Afternoon all. Just a quickie for now. Anyone interested to know what flavour Chip is?

marilla · 12/11/2005 16:17

Hope you don't mind me gatecrashing, but I was being a bit nosy having a read! Ixel, when I ordered from mothercare they couldn't give me a definite date or time either but they took the order to nearest post office for me to collect. Might be worth checking with them!

Jasnem · 12/11/2005 16:41

Tabs - YES PLEASE.

Tabs · 12/11/2005 16:50

Just for you then Jasnem - It seems I won't be evening up the stats after all, as we're also having a gorgeous little girl!
Please everyone give me a cyber slap on the wrists if I continue to refer to her as 'he'!!

Jasnem · 12/11/2005 16:51

Ixel - Write a letter of complaint to the hospital. I know it won't help you much, but if you don't they will continue to think they can treat people like that.
I'm sorry you had a wasted day, and the not visiting your friend must be frustrating. I hope thing get better for you soon.

I've spent the past two days doing Christmas things with the girls. We've decorated plant pots and planted hyacinths in them, and started making cards. I tend to take over as I'm a bit of a control freak/perfectionist, but DD1 loses interest after 15 mins anyway and leaves me and DD2 to it.
I have found myself making them on my own a couple of times though. I'm not that good at it so I think I'll still give credit to the kids.

Jasnem · 12/11/2005 16:55

Tabs - congratulations - girls are great ( says the mother of two daughters)!

I could be having another one too, but I developed the habbit of thinking of unknown flavours as boys - because I really wanted girls and was trying a bit of reverse psychology on myself.

flamesparrow · 12/11/2005 17:24

Yay for another girlie... I am also thinking of unknowns as boys. Apparantly it is not uncommon for children to be born in blocks of sexes... I'll find the link I've got to a baby sex predictor, it worked out right for DD (50/50 chance I know), but that tends to give you clumps of each sex.

flamesparrow · 12/11/2005 17:44

here

Jasnem · 12/11/2005 17:48

Isthis it?

Jasnem · 12/11/2005 17:51

crossed posts
It took me a long time to do that as I've never done it before.

I'll try yours and you try mine.
It gave me girl for the two I've already had, and another girl on the way.

flamesparrow · 12/11/2005 17:54

Yup, girls for DD and Spark on both of em.

Jasnem · 12/11/2005 17:56

They both say girl

flamesparrow · 12/11/2005 17:57

Girls for us then! Please can everyone else play so we can check for accuracy?

Tabs · 12/11/2005 18:53

Do you have to register for your link flame?

For your one Jasnem, can you tell me which timezone to pick - I'm too thick to work it out . Are you using actual ovulation date where it asks for conception date?

Jasnem · 12/11/2005 20:21

I had to register for flame's site, but it was a quick one.
The UK is timezone 0.
I have too much time on my hands - DP is in the other room playing cards with drunk friends and family - so I guessed ages of conception based on the stats, and most of us are predicted to have girls (everyone aged between30 and 35 at conception for starters).

ixel · 12/11/2005 21:08

Er, any tips for getting rock hard paint off a small boy?! We did the decorate your own today; a mug for his Nanny and a bowl for his Granny (kit reduced to 3.99 in Woolies, so 2 quid per pressie... a bargain!). It wont scrub off as he's too delicate, and he wont soak in the bath long enough to get the last stubborn bits off! I think he'll just have to look like the hulk for a while. The pots are great though, although he seemed to be going through his black period for the mug. Now we have a load of xmas cards to produce.

Marilla, I'm going to call Mothercare on Monday and try to pin them down to something.

Also, can I get your opinions please on Tudor as a boys name? The others on the short list are now Bram (been there since last time), Heath, and Fen (not sure if it should be double n or not).

I have to admit to feeling a bit jealous of you all who know the sex. But I wouldn't believe it till I saw it in the flesh anyway; I'm too cynical!

TheOriginalTicTac · 12/11/2005 22:23

Flame/ Jasnem - couldn't do your site, it is down at the minute but I did get a girl with Jasnems (which is correct)

TABS - Congrats on your little girl....how exciting! How was your scan? Everything you hoped for?

popmum · 12/11/2005 23:00

the site was accurate for my dd and also the bump!! how weird. Had to remember DD was conceived in USA so did that on -5!
you guys all seem so organised with all your baby stuff. I can't cope with baby and xmas (and builders, but that is another story!) so am leaving baby til after xmas. Don't need anything major really so will just be bits and bobs. All seems to be going quite quickly now i think.

cuffyj1 · 12/11/2005 23:46

Evening everyone (my god it's nearly morning i need to get to bed)

Jasnem & Flame - Just done both your links and both came up with boy. A friend has also done the needle on a string thing which also came out with a boy (although she had a really clear dream a few days later in which i had a girl) If we do have a girl we'll be stuck for a name we can't agree on 1, we've decided on Lewis James for a boy.

Right i'm off to bed. dh on nights so i've got the bed to myself so me and bump should have a really good nights sleep
