Medee I'm really sorry things aren't going to plan right now. Am keeping everything crossed that things change before Thursday and it goes exactly how you would most dream it to x

And to all, I am really sorry not to have been on in the last few days but we've been in hospital, and my mobile couldn't connect onto MN for some reason. Have been thinking of you all though.

Well, our news, which I really didn't mean to leave you in suspense about, is that the littlest stewpot was born in the early hours of Saturday morning! A little girl, 7lbs 5oz, with a massive shock of dark hair Grin

Turns out that the Braxton Hicks I was moaning about weren't infact Braxton Hicks at all, then! They got worse on Friday afternoon and then I had a show so they took me in and decided to do the section that night. Had an annoying few hours between 7pm Friday and 2am Saturday with contractions getting stronger and stronger while they tried to get a theatre team together, but eventually we got there and she was born just after half 3 Saturday morning.

Managed to get a private room in hospital which made a MASSIVE difference to last time and I have to say all my memories this time of the first couple of days are great ones, which after last time is such a blessing. Didn't quite manage bubbly in recovery due to being taken by surprise, but otherwise it was, and is, wonderful. And she is, of course, bloody gorgeous Grin

So that's my update for you all. Sorry it's so tardy! Hope everyone else is doing well, am sorry, not got time right now to read back but thinking of you all and especially Medee in these next few days x

Truffkin · 21/03/2011 20:47

Woo hoo Cass so exciting that your new daughter is here and that you had such an improved experience. Enjoy snuffling

milanomum · 21/03/2011 20:47

Scorps the Pliko is Italian too - Mamas and Papas are an Italian company (called Peg Perego here)and was our second choice (but it was more expensive so we went for the other one Blush).
Glad the lad is keeping you on your toes Smile - I'm feeling movement pretty much all the time now but when I don't I panic immediately. And I'm only feckin half way.
My mum's a smoker and got a bit pissed off when I told her she wouldn't be able to smoke in our house - but only because she was offended at the idea that I thought she might have! Of the few people I know who smoke, I don't actually know anyone who smokes in their own house anymore (well, your neighbour certainly doesn't).

LGG All I'm going to say is 95th percentile. Huge. That's all Wink.

milanomum · 21/03/2011 20:49

What a cross-post!
Massive congratulations cass and hello littlecass! Glad it was a positive experience and you are all doing well xx

Medee · 21/03/2011 20:53

Hurrah for the LittlestStewpot! Really lovely news, and I'm not really upset at being overtaken. Was it a CS then as planned, just a bit earlier?

Thanks all, and I am trying to focus on the baby waiting for me at the end of all this. And you never know, my hippo-water birth might still happen. Must admit we were planning the Sex tonight Scorps, figured if things were in the right place a bit of prostaglandin might help Wink

OP posts:
Medee · 21/03/2011 20:55

Prams - we went for the Quinny. It is a little bulkier, but it just kept winning out for manoeuvrability, the collapse and uncollapse action, and the adjustable handle - we never liked the individual handles, only the bar ones. Its downside is storage, but we have the shopping basket to compensate.

Scorpette · 21/03/2011 21:09

Awwww, wonderful news about Little Stewpot, Cass. She sounds absolutely gorgeous (your very own Rapunzel, eh?). Lovely that you got a private room too. You enjoy every minute of it and a big Wine to a v speedy recovery :)

Didn't someone here point out that prostaglandins can be administered orally, Medee? Although why HE gets all the fun, I don't know! Crossing everything for your water birth.

If all the PESH agreed/had agreed to go on OBEM, we'd make for one helluva series! Grin

Milano, that's v interesting to know about M&P. I thought your pram looked a bit M&P-ish. And yes, it does seem weird nowadays that folk smoke in their own homes - Aunt and neighbour only ones I know of (bloody typical!). Oh, I tell a lie - I worked with a woman who chain-smoked at home who was always fretting and moaning about her sons' chronic asthma and lung complaints Hmm Hmm Hmm

CluckyKate · 21/03/2011 21:26

Just popping in to say Woohoo! to Cass and her delightful lille bundle....wonderful, wonderful news.

Also good luck to you Meds and much sympathy for the wait - I went 12 days over with LC before being induced and then 15 days with the lad before nature kicked-in and brought him out to me so have great experience of the fourth trimester.
You're quite right - I didn't get as far as the induction chat due to fabuloso MW. Not sure how I'd have dealt with it tbh as by that point I was pretty emotional and desperate to get the baby out. What kept me going was the idea that I needed the extra time to make some finishing touches and, sure enough, when he came out he was absolutely perfect Grin

Enjoy the secks and remember you need oxytocin to get the contractions going so nipple tweaks & orgasms for you missy [nods]

Gotta go - those perfect lungs are shouting for another feed/cuddle/nappy change/who knows what...

HighPriestessBoo · 21/03/2011 21:30

Awwwww... Congratulations on little Stewpot Cass :)

Ivegotmrbitey · 21/03/2011 21:54

Congrats cass she sounds beautiful! Enjoy the tiny cuddles!

Scorpette · 21/03/2011 21:55

Anyone else watching OBEM? I didn't like the look of what they were doing to the breech birth lady, but the look of pure love and awe on her bloke's face as their daughter BF for the first time was just amazing. Brought tears to my eyes, so it did.

Scorpette · 21/03/2011 22:00

PS Trying not to be judgeypants, but does that young girl know that dentistry is free when you're pg?! Her gnashers are fucked!

Aaaargh, they just spoiled the loveliness by saying the baby had yellow hands because they both smoked Angry

Medee · 21/03/2011 22:10

I'm not sure how anyone's teeth can be that bad in this age, but her bloke was lovely. And it was nice to see some skin to skin and breastfeeding for once.

Thanks Kate

OP posts:
HighPriestessBoo · 21/03/2011 22:12

Those teeth were utterly rank. I had the same thought as you Scorps. Baby was gorgeous though - although the fingernails thing made me very :(

I get sick of them trying to defy gravity on their backs though - like 5th child woman - she could so easily have got up on her knees she was only on gas and air. Tsk.

owlbooty · 21/03/2011 22:15

Yay yay yay MiniStewPot Grin Hope you are enjoying loads of lovely snuffling with your gorgeous girl, Cass

LadyGoneGaga · 21/03/2011 22:26

Gorgeous news, Cass. Enjoy your lovely new daughter. She sounds like a beauty! Smile

Poor girls teeth were truly awful. Maybe she has a phobia of dentists or something. Not entirely sure what they would do with them?! Must admit I hate the smoking thing too.

HighPriestessBoo · 21/03/2011 22:26

But yes yes yes to the breastfeeding at last.

Medee I hope things get started before Thursday - but you can always go up to the hospital and refuse the induction on the day if you want to.
I refused an induction (they were trying to induce me early because of my GD so not quite the same situation), but they were fine once I'd made the decision. No-one would tell me what to do, they made me say that I didn't want to be induced as they have to adhere to their guidelines even if they agree with you. It's a really hard to know what to do for the best isn't it? What I will say is that I had a favourable cervix like you so when they broke my waters when I gave in and got induced a week later it didn't hurt one jot.

Muser · 21/03/2011 22:39

This slipped off my list. Oops.

Big massive congrats to Cass and her little stewpot.

Medee, I hope you avoid the induction. I am off to the wilds of the Highlands tomorrow until Thursday with dodgy phone reception so no doubt you will lay while I am out of action.

Aries, I firmly believe your win is just around the corner. Spring is coming and all that.

Scorpette · 21/03/2011 23:34

An Aries Win for an Aries Girl - an extra-special birthday pressie seems only fair :)

That OBEM girl needs the front ones removing and some false ones put in place, I think. I bet all our mothers would say 'too many sweets and sugary drinks!' and nod their heads knowingly!

TYF is holed up in bed engrossed in Pride & Prejudice on his Kindle. But he's not really into it, oh no (even though he just anxiously asked me if Lizzie marries Mr Collins) Hmm Grin

I was just about to post but then...

FUUUCK! I have to go to the hossie tomorrow morning to do my official birth plan (cos of all the probs I've had) and have just gone to print it out and the ink is too low, aaargh! Setting off too early to go buy cartridges beforehand - I wonder if I should ring the person I'm seeing, get their email and mail it them? That could work, right? BOLLOCKS. Angry

Scorpette · 21/03/2011 23:55

X-POST! Muse, hope you have a lovely time in Bonny Scatlin :)

Ivegotmrbitey · 22/03/2011 08:04

I did not enjoy OBEM last night, usually I find educational but couldn't relate to any of the mothers. Also the epidural seemed to render the mothers very passive, not only did they not shout but theirceyrs seemed glazed too. And the smoking Sad

scan soon!

Have a lovely time in Scotland muse!

scorps can you go the old fashioned route and write it out? Desperate times and all that?

CluckyKate · 22/03/2011 08:47

I think the eyes being glazed was due to tiredness Bitey....I had an epidural with LC and it had a reviving effect on me.

Must admit I saw the girl's teeth and thought junkie; then she mentioned kipping on random sofas when she got diffed and I thought the same. If that's the case then smoking isn't so bad - just hope the two of them manage to cobble together enough cash and a decent home for that poor baby.

Hope the sweep worked for you Meds - feeling any different this morning???

PollyPoo · 22/03/2011 08:58

Cass many congratulations on the arrival of the gorgeous MiniStewpot. She is lush! I am so relieved that second time round was a much better experience for you.

Meds thinking of you. I really hope things go according to plan for you. But if not, one way or another you will be snuffling your very own gorgeous baybee in just a few days, squeee! BB will be 11 weeks old tomorrow and I am not yet showing any signs of getting bored of snuffling her little head

owlbooty · 22/03/2011 09:09

Oh, the snuffling

I wish I could borrow a small baybee just for 20 minutes or so to snuffle it.

Me and Mr Boots looked at prams on t'internet last night and now he is just as freaked out as I am. We are going to have to go for a test drive. He says he isn't going to be pushing it around much anyway. Aha. Ha. Ha. Wrong.

Plenty of shortbread, Muse Grin

Poo cannot believe BB is 11 weeks old already. Where the bloody hell is time going?

Orchid12 · 22/03/2011 09:10

Congratulations to Cass! So glad you're all ok and smitten Smile

Bitey hope the little one behaves today. Are you trying to find out the flava?

Scorps good luck with the hozzie visit. Hope you get a good plan together that you are happy with.

Medee I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things get moving for you.

I really liked the young couple on OBEM. The lad seemed to have a good take on things and was more mature than some of the men on there who were twice his age. I felt very bad for them in terms of having no money etc, and certainly didn't like the smoking issue, but at least they seemed to give a damn about one another. Makes you wonder how they'll be in a year or two's time? I got annoyed with the lady on baby number 5. She grated on me no end. 'T'other one I wasn't bothered about but it made me feel quite urgh to see all that tugging etc with the forceps. Bleurgh!!!
