Im 39+5 had an app with MW today, she offered sweep but I declined as she came earlier than I expected and I hadnt had a shower!!!

She said my bp was fine and baby was wriggling about fine too she said it was engaged fully. Sorry to sound dumb but what does that mean for me now? as reading other posts some of you say 2/5 or 3/5 engaged and Iv never quite understood what that meant!

backache keeps coming but with not having any BH or any type of show I cant help but think im in for the long haul!

got another appt on tuesday deffo having the sweep then!!

Hello all, Sorry for my leave of absence since Thursday. I have been completely spoilt rotten by the lovely midwives at Stroud Maternity unit for the last 4 days and have only just got back home. Baby Hester was born bang on her due date on Friday at 1.30pm. A straightforward labour with water and gas and air. It was an amazing experience...painful yes, but absolutely worth it.
Hester is beautiful and doing really well. Breastfeeding is sooo painful for me though so Im still working on it. I just hope I get there!

Congratulations on your beautiful little girl bluebeach, and so glad to hear the care at Stroud was as good as it's rumoured to be. You weren't tempted by the glam new Birth Unit at Gloucester then? I've been having some antenatal care there and I must say the whole maternity block is very swanky and posh looking! Though I am baffled as to why they have only installed 2 pools
Can I be nosy and ask (as am still weighing up birth choices) what the care was like during labour? Were you left alone much? Was it the same MW looking after you all the way through? What are the facilities like? ... 20 questions I apologise, and I know you will have your hands full just now, but if you do get a chance I would love to know how you found it there.
Good luck with the breastfeeding, I hope it gets less sore very quickly for you.

I'm so glad everything went well for you, hang in there with the bf, the first 2 weeks are the hardest, it'll be all downhill after that, I know how it feels though, I would describe it as toe curling pain cause I always found that's what I did at latching on in the begining, it does get easier though.

38+2 today and coping amazingly well to be honest. I moan a lot but keep getting complements at work at how well I'm doing to be still going on as normal at this late stage. I'm getting worried though that its because LO is nice and settled inside and has no intention of coming out. :( Think I'm in for the long haul!

Remember to stock up on paracetamol everyone - esp. 2nd and subsequent babies as afterpains are baaaad when breastfeeding! Just starting to feel better today thank goodness. I didn't get them at all wiht my first baby.

Have just looked through my old notes and discovered one of my dd's was born at 4.21am and ds was born at 4.31am! another dd was born at 5.29am - thought that was quite strange, my first was 1.50pm.

My advice to those who are still waiting - sleep sleep sleep as i'm pretty sleep deprived now - going to bed in a minute!

Had my 38-week appointment with my GP yesterday and she said the baby is about 2/5 or 3/5 engaged. I was thrilled since I was pretty sure she hadn't budged. Nice to know she's starting to head for the exit! No other indications of anything else moving forward, though, so no idea if it'll be another three weeks or three days.

I'm enjoying some very lazy days, reading and cooking and resting when I can, so don't mind a bit more of this but am sooooo eager to finally meet my baby!

As for me I am 39+5 and DC2 is in no hurry to come out. Saw the midwife on Friday and the head is at least fixed which means it is startj g to find the way out. Still very wriggly now.
I get exited at every twinge but nothing so far. Feel like I've been pregnant forever.

Congrat bluebeach and hattie on your new little ones. Iam am so pleased to announce the arrival of Blake Michael Richard born yesterday (8/3) at 12:36 pm. Little man wasnt bothered to go past 5cm dialated and had been nearing 48 hours since waters broke so emergency c section for me! All is well and we are smitten! Probably in hosp until friday so full story later on. Hope everyone is feeling well and keep them coming! If anyone wouldnt mind updating list for me, would be great. Phone not easy to manage. Love to all!

Congratulations Larty on the safe arrival of Blake.

Thanks Catherine yep the big 40 today, but absolutely NO sign of anything happening. I have consultant appointment this afternoon to find out if my cervix is favourable [bleurgh] and I expect I will be given a date for C-section and also a date for possibly breaking waters as I would really like to try and go the natural way.

Congratulations Larty! Hope your ok after the cs, the first couple of days are quite sore but it gets better after that.

I had a bad nights sleep, awake every 2 hours at least and found it hard to get back to sleep and was sick this morning for the first time in weeks so feeling a little crappy today but not up to much so it's ok.

My LO was making huge movements yesterday evening, it was actually sore and achy, anyone else get this? I'm hoping she didn't turn head up
again but I don't think so?

Wow how exciting lots of babies coming now. Congratulations to Carrie Bluebeach Hattie and Larty . I hope you are all settling with your bubs and enjoying all those cuddles and the smell of their heads - yum!

Well I am still here, stubbornly staying put at the top of the due list. This baby does not want to budge. Had cramps last night, coming every 10 mins, lasting a min each and STILL NOTHING. Frustration isn't the word!! Induction has been booked for Saturday but I am going to fight for monitoring instead. I sooooo want my homebirth and have a lot of traumatic ghosts waiting at the hospital from when dd1 was born. I am not considered over 42 weeks til Monday, so I don't see what the hurry is tbh, as long as baby is okay.

So the waiting goes on .... and just to add to the frustration baby who was 3/5ths engaged for over three weeks has gone back to being free and is still there, bobbing about with no sense of urgency ..

SuperPen - Feel happy that this sweep revealed that I am more ready than I was with DS2 where they couldnt reach at all. So fingers crossed.

Have done a fair bit of walking today so hoping for a bit of activity. It does feel to me like baby is almost hanging between my legs, but clearly I am wrong. Oh well.

Hi all, new to the thread came on to do some research on what my midwife has just told me and found the ante natal clubs. I'm due with my first on the 21st March, and just been told that at 38 weeks + 2 days appointment, that not only is she not engaged but she's still very high up :(

Considering I've been having strong BH for days now I was really hoping that she would at least be heading in the right direction. On top of that the MW started talking about induction and CS, as it might be that she can't fit through my pelvis. I'm now beginning to get slightly stressed about all of this as induction and CS's are something I really want to avoid.

Has anyone else not be anywhere near engaged this late on? Thanks
