Appartley wasnt my waters nor a show and my contraction are not contrations!

JeelyPiece · 29/03/2011 15:21

How annoying for you mama2b! I take you've been for a check up then and the baby is fine?

mama2plusbump · 29/03/2011 16:34

Yeeh baby is fine although i cant feel kicks...

Jupiter118 · 29/03/2011 17:18

mama how frustrating! If you are still not happy with the kicking don't hesitate to go back to the hospital - make sure you are comfortable with things iyswim.

Labour vibes to all.

Stitches a bit better today salt baths are really good and antibiotics kicking in. Baby gorgeous could just stare at her for hours.

mama2plusbump · 29/03/2011 17:31

You would think i would know and so would the baby...the non contractions are getting stronger so here is hoping...got reflexology and armomatherapy tmw anyway...

emma31177 · 29/03/2011 18:04

Hi just a little message to say Baby Tobi David was born on the 27th march 11.51am 9lbs 4 natural birth no pain med go in to details later lol and catch up on other peoples news to trying to sort three kids out is a bit well getting used to it ,,,,,,

KPidgeon · 29/03/2011 18:22

Lozario- hope you can turn your baby round.

Jeely- the hospital did a speculum exam and said that not much of the waters had broken so they weren't concerned enough to induce. If you don't come on here again before the induction- all the very best for it and hope things work smoothly for you after the induction.

Hope you're okay Pippip

Mama2 your day sounds like mine-
Had a very frustrating day- had a "proper" show at 2.30am after just a bit of period-like stuff yesterday then had contractions every 10 minutes. Coped well without waking up husband. Was really proud of myself as they went on for o er 3 hours and were regular and hurt a fair bit! When his alarm went off for work I told him about the contractions and we started timing them on his app- he decided to stay home from work again (is quite a long commute) and then everything STOPPED! Argghh! Had a few more contractions at lunch time but they stopped again. So now have told him he should just go into work tomorrow and I'll call him if things get going in earnest. I thought they were. Humph! Could they be braxton hicks? They felt way too regular to be practice ones.

Congratulations Emma! 3 huh?!

Thanks to you already-mums for checking in and for your words of encouragement. Hopefully not long until all of us late-bees can join you on the other thread...

JeelyPiece · 29/03/2011 19:12

Thanks KPidgeon, I'm getting very nervous now! I hope things do get going for you properly tomorrow.

Must re-pack hospital bag and shave legs for my big day... not sure whether to bother with bikini line or not, I can't get anywhere near it so would have to get DH to oblige. Hmm.

mama2plusbump · 29/03/2011 20:16

No im having to breath thru them and have given birth twice without pain relief so i know what im on about im ignoring the midwife i wouldt have to stop just for the sake of it!

Sorry im annoyed birthing vibes to all!

pettyprudence · 29/03/2011 20:28

Had 40w midwife appt today - not much going on :( Baby only 3/5 engaged. Booked in for sweep when 41+1 and I have a horrible feeling I will be needing it! Oh well, I am having my hair cut and coloured on Thursday so it will look fab for all the photos when baby finally makes their grand entrance Grin

Lozario · 29/03/2011 20:29

Still here. Humph. I can't even remember what is in my hospital bag, I packed it so long ago! Still having the gross end-of-period shows, strong BH but nothing regular. I'm basically now mentally preparing for induction on Saturday - apparently I can probably get the epidural at the same time as the induction so that's cheered me up a bit - I've been so worried about not getting it for one reason or another! Hospital again tomorrow for another sweep in the meantime.

KPidgeon - with my first, I woke at about 4am with very strong and regular contractions, but by "proper" morning (ie 8ish) they had gone. They started up again that evening and then I went into proper labour, so hopefully it's a good sign! Early labour can stop and start though- I never realised that until I was in it!

emma congratulations!! Looking forward to hearing the birth story.

Glad there are still a few of us here to keep each other going - I was in SUCH a bad mood after the hospital yesterday and DH couldn't understand why I was so fed up!!!

superpenguin · 29/03/2011 22:00

Hello everyone,
finally back on proper computer and just caught up with the thread.
I hadn't realised I had posted my announcement on the post-natal thread by mistake, that's what you get trying to do things on a very slow phone!

Tooimmature I'm really saddened to read of your loss, I don't know what else to say, just so sorry to hear that.

Congratulations to all the other new mummies and arrivals that have happened in the last couple of weeks, it's good to see the arrivals list growing.

baby Thomas and I got home on Weds (5 days after he was born) and are doing well, although my plans to breastfeed are not quite going to plan - finding it really hard and am now doing mostly bottles with a bit of expressed breastmilk too. We'll see how it goes. He is sleeping for 4 hours at a time though and is generally amazing.
I'll try to catch up again soon.

GeekLove · 29/03/2011 22:57

Congratulations Emma and superpenguin! Hope that they let you get some sleep!

mama2b Glad that baby is OK, should think that all this action should lead to 'real' labour soon. Hang in there and good luck!

OP posts:
niamh29 · 29/03/2011 23:11

Jupiter: having stitches problems myself, did you just chuck a load of normal salt into a bath to help with them?

Muser · 29/03/2011 23:28

Handful of table salt in the bath is good for stitches. You can also use a few drops of lavender oil or tea tree oil.

1Catherine1 · 30/03/2011 00:38

Congrats all the new mummies! Sorry to all those still hanging on in there! nearly there though!! Halo as the last due date buddie to still be waiting I hope it hurries along soon.

Quick Birth story - Last Tuesday I woke with the same horrid weak contractions I'd been having for days. I came on here for a little moan and then decided that I'd get dressed and do something productive. Then the contractions started to hurt so after talking to my mum I phoned the maternity ward who asked if I'd felt movements that morning. Since I'd only been up 30 minutes I said no and they told me to come in to check baby was ok. They warned me that they would probably send me home after. They monitored the baby for a good hour and were concerned about the lack of variation in heartbeat so the MW (who obviously thought I was a complete wuss at that point because I was moaning about the pain of the contractions) wanted to check how far along I was and then seemed rather surprised as she announced that I was 8cm dilated so was not going home. Unfortunately it all slowed down after that. Baby's lack of movements meant I couldn't have the water birth I wanted and although I was transferred to the delivery suite at 2pm baby showed little interest in coming out. At 10pm I was in real pain and the MW insisted I had an epidural to help me control the urge to push when she kept telling me that I shouldn't. Anya was finally born by ventose delivery at 1:54am on Wednesday morning.

Anya was perfectly fine unfortunately I was a little ill. My iron levels dropped and on Friday evening I was given a blood transfusion to make me better. We finally came home on Saturday evening. Been a busy one since then as my siblings came to visit us and to fuss the baby - which they did very well and looked after me too. :)

mama2push - I hope everything is ok. Good luck!!

Looking forward to your announcement KPidgeon :)

pettyprudence · 30/03/2011 05:42

well i have been up since 4am this morning with constant lower backache and period type pains (i assume, I've never really had period pains) and either i keep weeing myself or my waters are leaking. I think i can stem the flow but I am not sure as each time i leak i leg it to the toilet. Doesnt smell like wee, hmmmm.... I tried to go back to sleep but too uncomfortable so now I am up having breakfast with a lovely hot water bottle on my back.

I thought something had fallen out of me at 2am - maybe my mucus plug but couldnt see anything in the toilet. I dont seem to be having contractions just a constant ache. If contractions are worse than this though i am scrapping the home birth and going to hossie for some lovely epidural. I havent had a show or anything so i am assuming that this is the beginning of pre-labour which could go on for a while (ie days)?

Sorry for the TMI post, trying to think rationally and logically that I cant possibly be in labour yet (esp as DH is off to the other side of the country today!) :)

haloflo · 30/03/2011 07:54

Just to let you all know my waters broke minutes after my last post. Baby Hannah Kirsten born 29/03 weighing 8lb 9. Ouch all over but worth the wait.

mama2plusbump · 30/03/2011 07:58

Baby girl safiyah born today at 2:13,6lbs2
I did a im in labour thread in child birth! Lol

niamh29 · 30/03/2011 08:27

Congratulations to mama2 and haloflo!

Muser: thanks, I'll be having a salt bath this evening hoping to ease the discomfort.

Catherine: I felt like such a woss when I got pethidine at only 1cm but I had been having pains for 9hrs and needed a rest, thankfully my pushing stage went very well and I came away proud of myself for doing so well.

Pettyprudence: my labour with DD2 started with constant period like pain so fingers crossed for you!

Lozario · 30/03/2011 08:34

Congratulations haloflo and mama !!!

pettyprudence it sounds like your body is getting into gear but it could be a while yet... I've had shows since the weekend, one contraction and BH! One thing I've learnt though is that everyone is different - I think I'm a bit of a wuss, my pain threshold is probably quite low, and the main thing I remember after my first labour is thinking "well, next time I won't even think about going into hossie until I can no longer speak during contractions"! Hwvr this is not necessarily good advice as second time can be quicker anyway and everyone has a different pain threshold. Maybe you're really brave and in active labour!!

I think I'm going to be the last one standing at this rate! :-(

pettyprudence · 30/03/2011 09:30

well the pain has moved from constant back and front ache to tightenings/grips/cramps under the bump every 4-10mins lasting 40-60seconds ish. It bloody hurts too but i havent felt any tightenings across my whole bump - the pain start low and spread to just under my belly button? I still refuse to believe I am in labour though and sent DH on his journey 3 1/2hrs away. its just to quick!

Had a bath which felt lovely - it turned the intensity but not the frequency right down (so long as i sat upright, now i cant get comfortable in any position). Gah wish i knew for sure what is going on with my body!

highlandbird · 30/03/2011 10:42

have a spare 5 mins thought I'd check in to see how everyone is getting on, wow there's been a lot of babies, and a lot of big ones too, Angus was 8lb 7oz I thought he was big!!
Thread has slowed down lots, I know how frustrating it is for those of you still waiting so just wanted to send good birthing vibes and good luck wishes to you all, feels like it goes on forever in the last few days / weeks!!!!
I'm still doing the 'John Wayne shuffle' here but finally feels like my body is starting to recover today, finding it hard to find time for naps too but am so in love with my wee man, its worth all the pain and exhaustion in the end. Luckily for me I've managed to find time for a quick bath every day which really helps, no stitches here but my tears are taking a while to heal and a warm bath really does help a bit.
Thinking of you all, will be keeping an eye on here to see how you're all getting on and huge congratulations to all the new mummies!

Postnatal thread is here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/1159815-March-2011-we-made-it

Stick a handful of salt in your bath highland, it'll really help.
