LovelyKatie I'm in the same boat! Still got to go to the garden centre under the guise that DS wanted to ride his tricycle. This has to be the last splurge but it will mean a wonderful garden soon.

An eventful evening though.'currently feeling a bit cranky but cannot tell if that is contractions or if the baby has been doing either a zumba class or is trying to burst through my chest. I keep saying try the cervix! Then DS1 was sick and totalled all his bedding - think it's a one- off though. Still it means I have a machine full of dirty nappies and a bucket full of vommy bedding!

highlandbird · 13/03/2011 09:49

Congrats Niknan wonderful news and congrats Catherine on finally starting your ML put your feet up with a Brew and a Biscuit and make the most of it!
one day overdue now but trying to remain patient and have booked for a sweep next weekend, really hoping baby doesn't make an appearance this weekend as its been blizzarding for 2 days and not even sure the road is open Shock
Still getting period like cramps and lower backache, but no show...although midwife says the head is well engaged and everything looks set to go, just have to wait now!
Anyone else feeling generally nauseous? I have been last few days and not through the rest of my pregnancy.
Not long to go now for everyone, its a funny feeling waking up every morning thinking 'is this going to be the day??'

superpenguin · 13/03/2011 10:19

congratulations niknan on your little girl! :)

I'm now 9 days overdue and still nothing!

mama2plusbump · 13/03/2011 10:31

Hiya guys!
I been reading the threading but not had time to respond! Congrats too all the babies. Well done mums!
My due date has changed to the 24th can someone amend as im on my phone please. I was mama2leahplusaaisha!
I feel like im over due and very tierd spd is a nightmare! But il have 3 under 3 when lo is born so things will only gey busier for me.

Oh yeh regarding labour i never have regular contractions...so dont always hold out for those, both time i wqs in labour they insisted i wasnt.
Better go girls just messed the house up!

Come on babies make an apperance soon!
Xx

mama2plusbump · 13/03/2011 10:32

Oh yeh i went 16 days over with first! So i think it will be an april baby argh!

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 13/03/2011 10:59

Thanks so much bluebeach - guess I should have posted elsewhere but brain is too dysfunctional! What a terrible experience for you im so glad you trusted your instinct - that midwife sounds unbelievably cr*p - hope you get a better one. I still haven't seen or heard from any midwife. Got home on Thurs so guess it will be Monday but so much for "fisrt 24 hours"!

Re labour and births... For those of you still waiting I have a couple of recommendations (obv for first timers as others will know all this and it will also vary person to person).
1 don't go in too early. I did and was lucky they allowed me to stay - contractions were established and every 2-3 minutes for over 2 hours when I got there but I was only 1cm so nearly sent home. Only by virtue of living over half an hour from hosp and it being late evening meant I could stay.
2 gas and air can help - but it can also make you sick. It made me projectile vomit repeatedly and made life worse. When they offer it take it slowly and see how you react before indulging too much (easy to say but when you're screaming in pain hard to remember!)
3 pethadine can also make you sick... I got an anti nausea injection at the same time but vomitted between every contraction anyway. So much for the "get some rest until the next stage"... However,
4 pethadine doesn't (or def didn't with me) get rid of the pain but it does help your cervix relax making process quicker...
5 it's all worth it when you get your lo in your arms for the first time.

gemma4d · 13/03/2011 11:04

Happy due date to me :-( and too Doubleshotlatte, HeadingHome, katster37 and MJM86 if you are all still going!

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 13/03/2011 11:06

Ps - I wrote most of long post I just posted yesterday but demands of a five day old mean I barely finished writing it let alone keeping up with the thread.

Happy due dates those today! Congrats new arrivals, good luck everyone still waiting.

Xx

doubleshotlatte · 13/03/2011 11:59

Still here too gemma4d and partly myself to blame. Keep lying down with TENS on thru contractions (strong ones too, not BH).

With DD I remember 2 days of being on all fours swaying side to side with each cxn which really helped speed things up, though no sleep and totally exhausted by time I had to push her out.

DH and I are trying to ignore friends and relatives and facebook, everyone dying to know what's going on... sigh.

I'm still waiting for DD to be all well, don't think I can relax enough to go into labour otherwise.

niamh29 · 13/03/2011 14:46

Thanks for the advice nowpanic, although this is no3 I had epidural with no 1 and cs with no 2 so I've never had g&a or pethidine, hoping to get a chance to try them this time (I.e hoping not to need an epidural). The sick part is not good news for me as I have a crap tummy while pregnant, my first labour I vomited the whole way through and afterwards a bit too, it happens to a lot of people I think, labour is very hard on your body and stuff happens that you don't really have control of.

9 days to due date, baby must be quite low cause having a lot of achiness low down in pelvis which I havent had before this.

Medee · 13/03/2011 14:57

Congratulations, Niknan, lovely name.

Jupiter118 · 13/03/2011 15:49

Congrats niknan

I had pethidine with DS - I found it worked really well for me, but know others who had less good experience. It helped me relax, really dulled pain and I practically slept or passed out between contractions. There again I get drunk quite easily and can get quite high from a cigarette _- has been years mind you since I last had one.

The brown mucous continues here, brown, White and pink I suppose. Pelvis feels like there is quite a lot of pressure, bur no pains at the mo. Sweep must have done something, but who knows if it will amount to anything? Probably best as will be in marital doghouse if labour kicks in during the rugby.

Larty74 · 13/03/2011 19:21

Hello everyone. thanks Catherine for sorting the list out.

Long story short, recovering from emergency c-section so simply coming on here either on computer or phone is a real accomplishment at the moment, but both of us are doing really well considering. My LO is a champion sleeper and we are getting 4-6 hours a go at night, but physically I can only be up and about for about 10 mins at a time, then need a full on nap! The whole "sleep when they sleep" couldn't be more true. Smile

Just wanted to say congrats to all of the newest mums and best wishes to those who are coming......take care everyone and hope to be back soon.

Purplefan · 13/03/2011 21:17

hi everyone, updating from my hospital bed so please excuse me if i don't congratulate individually! well done to new mums and arrivals.

My little girl decided she did not want to wait until cs on tuesday and therefore was actually born at 2am this morning! We did try to see if things would happen naturally but she got a little distressed so ended in section anyway!

She weighs 5lb 3 and has a mop of dark hair and is so beautiful, in fact she's like a little dolly!!

The best news is that she is here against the odds and has no obvious features to demonstrate turners syndrome, plus all her heart assessments etc are positive so far!! Grin

The only hitch is feeding which can be an issue for turners girls and they are concerned about her blood sugars. We are in the right place and being well looked after!

Not sure if we are calling her Amy or Annabel as we can't agree!!!!

Hope everyone is well! xx

Jupiter118 · 13/03/2011 21:35

purple congratulations such good news - hope the blood sugars thing turns out to be no issue. So little what a dot :-))

1Catherine1 · 13/03/2011 21:36

A massive congratulations to you Purplefan! Its been quite the journey for you all, I'm really glad she has arrived safely and you're all doing well. Both lovely names, I hope you agree soon.

Take care of yourself and your little girl! xx

chickiewoo · 13/03/2011 21:45

Just to say congratulations to all the new mummies and babies - especially Purplefan and your little poppet - you must be so relieved that she's arrived safely after everything you've been through. Take care all. Can't remember if I posted my latest update, but I'm booked for a cs on 23rd - so only 10 days to go now. These last few days have been a real struggle for me and my anxiety has gone into complete overdrive, so am hoping the days fly by now! Love to you all x

niamh29 · 13/03/2011 22:12

Congratulations purplefan, I'm delighted your little girl arrived safe and sound, wow, 5lb 3oz, she must be a right little doll, glad to hear ye are both doing well!

Chickiewoo: it's nice to have an endpoint, although I was disappointed to be having a cs last time it was nice to know when she would be coming along, the thought of going another 3 weeks (I'm due on the 22nd) is a killer.

Medee · 13/03/2011 22:23

Big congratulations to Purplefan!

Goldenbear · 14/03/2011 08:39

Congratulations NikNan, glad she is home safe now.

Congratulations Purplefan, hope your both doing well?

Thought it was all systems go last night. I was having contractions that radiated around the back, they were painful enough to put tens machine on and I had to walk around when they came. In between I was projectile vomiting and a 'clear out'. To help with the back pain I decided to have a bath. I told my DP to go to bed as contractions eased off, I went to bed and woke up with the same pain in the night, had to walk around.

I am currently having the same irregular tensions in the stomach but not in the back like last night. Unsure What to think as must be just Braxton Hicks or maybe I am just coming down with something. Last night I was walking around in circles because of the intensity of BH? I did this with my first but I was induced so I knew for definite it was labour.

Anyway, I have managed to type this so it must be a false alarm - my pain threshold must be incredibly low!

JeelyPiece · 14/03/2011 09:05

Congratulations Niknan on your little baby girl!

Congratulations also very much in order for Purplefan, especially considering the worries you had during your pregnancy. So glad to hear your wee girl has arrived safely.

Catherine our last woman standing at work I think weren't you, I was in awe having given up a fortnight ago. You must be relieved to not be going in today.

Looks like something is afoot there Goldenbear! I started to get a bit excited last night in bed when I was getting stronger period-type pains than usual but it didn't develop into anything like that.

I spent last Thursday in day assessment as my mw measured me as 45cm at 39 weeks... however the staff there measured me at 43 weeks, scanned me and said the fluid index was only 17 something (had been 24.7 at scan last Monday), confirmed the baby's head was nicely down in my pelvis and after putting me on a trace for 20 mins (during which the wee one put on a star performance) declared themselves happy to let me carry on and wait to go into labour naturally. So am much relieved (if a little confused!). Just making sure I don't put myself in any positions that might make baby bob back up so am sitting with knees wide apart at all opportunities like a bloke on the bus.

It's my due week now so hoping for something to happen soon...

superpenguin · 14/03/2011 09:06

haloflo · 14/03/2011 10:01

Congratulations to niknan and purplefan Glad to hear your girls arrived safe and sound.

I know this is very trivial but I was wondering if anyone else's belly button is sore. There is about an inch wide bit of skin around my belly button which is very tender, looks a bit bruised and hurts even when i'm not touching it.

I'm guessing this is just my skin stretching but is there anything I can do to ease it other than just being careful not to touch it?

KPidgeon · 14/03/2011 10:15

halo I had that for a while (around weeks 30-35)- hurt above my belly button for a while. I think it is just the skin stretching. I just slathered on the cream. Doesn't hurt now- think my skin has stretched as much as it's going to!

Congratulations on more new arrivals- and really good news after anxiety in your pregnancy purplefan your little daughter sounds beautiful!

Had a bad stomach all night last night but it was just wind I think Blush!!

highlandbird · 14/03/2011 10:25

Ah congrats to the mummies and babies, especially purplefan your wee girl sounds gorgeous, hope you get sorted with the bf soon.

Another day of waiting here....and doesn't feel like anything is going to happen anytime soon!

Halo the skin around my belly button is also very tender, I think its all the stretching, it also looks bruised because of the pigmentation, I have a very dark prominent line down my belly and the patch of skin around my belly button has also gone all dark!
