Morning everyone

Actually feeling much better and much more like my old self today. Realise I have been obsessing about giving birth, but that it won't actually help it come any quicker in the long run, sorry for boring any of you , but thanks for listening!!!!

It was a real help going to see a friend who is pg with twins yesterday as she is having many of the same symptoms and made me feel less mad. Think hormones have actually levelled today though, so here is for a day with more motivation, energy and positive vibes!!!!

Loved the discussion last night on prams. Isn't it funny that once youv'e bought one and the day gets closer you start to question your decision? When I was trying to put our Jane together etc I suddenly thought we had bought the wrong one as it seemed so tricky. Mind you I suupose they all are until you have done it a few times!!!

Don't know what I am going to do today, not that much to do to be honest. I don't think stopping work so early was a good idea (not that I had much choice) as now I am running out of things to keep me busy, and when I do find something I can't be bothered

Well hope you are all well

speak later

37 today - hooray!!!!!!

babyonboard · 21/10/2005 08:03

oooh karma it's lovely..i was looking at one of those in the supermarket queue the other day...it's funy these days I don't know whether to coo over the baby or the pram first...teehee

speaking of xmas themed outfits, my gran has bought us an outift that i think is a bit too 'santa- ish' it's a disney red velour trouser and coat set, with a hood with white fur edge. It's not meant to be a santa outfit, but looks so much like one...
I remember my baby couin last year ended up being photgraphed in everything from a santa sleepsuit to raindeer ears..poor baby!

enthusia glad you are feeling better..shame it wasn't labour (or so it seems by now)..but it is hard to know..i have had bad cramps this week and dp panicks every time I mention it...

I feel so sorry for dp today, we forgot to get his coat from the dry cleaners so he's just wearing his suit, and i went out for juice when he left for work and it's horrible outside..really rainy and windy and just plain freezing. then he called to say his train is half an hour delayed..at least theres a good coffee shop at the station!
when did winter start!? It's been so mild lately!

babyonboard · 21/10/2005 08:11

...and enthusia..iknow how you feel with the boredom and nothing to do..
most days all I have is the housework..i have taken to cooking and freezing meals and learning to make bread and other housewifey things I couldn't do before...

fortunately today is quite busy, I have a midwife appt. then am meeting friends for lunch and shopping...typical that it's rubbish weather and my spd is really bad when I actually have plans...!

goldenoldie · 21/10/2005 08:30

Hi Girls - wonder who will be next up.

Who mentioned somethinng about ribs - mine have been very tender of late.

Enthusia - hope things start speeding up for you. The signs look good.

JenJam - I'm desperate for a drink. Can't wait for my first G&T. Have had the odd tiny brandy - for medicinal purposes only of course!

Karma - having terrible problems with my blood sugar - seems to be too low, 2 or 3 all day, even after eating. Really tried my best yesterday and stuffed it in, only to be sick and bring it all back up last night.

Back to the hospital today. Was put on a trace for a while yesterday, one twin was showing slight 'decleration?' and I have an 'irritable womb?'. I think doctor is talking rubbish, I've never heard of that before - anyone else?...............

Anyway doctor thinks womb is getting ready and I will not last out till booked c-section at 36 weeks on 10 Nov. We will see..........

goldenoldie · 21/10/2005 08:31

Ops - I mean the 'irritable womb' part.

KristinaM · 21/10/2005 08:33

Morning girls, thnaks for all the pram links to gush over. Agree the pink check M&Ps is lovely - a bit impractical i suspect but gorgeous....

Lst day of school hols here and mad rush to finish teh nesting. We still have loads of bookcases to assemble and two desks. Will take DD to cinema in teh afternoon as well

babyonboard · 21/10/2005 08:33

woooooo!
I just got two huge parcels delivered by fedex containing this , a steam sterilizer, loads of totsbots nappies and wraps, loads of clothes and some gorgeous fleecy cream bedding...
my cousin said she would be sending me some things, but I didn't expect this much!
i had to ask the guy to bring them upstairs for me..heehee

that drastically reduces my list of baby things yet to buy..
hoorah!

babyonboard · 21/10/2005 08:35

ooh, goldenoldie...will you be next!
hope you three are okay.
I never heard of irritable womb, but i had an 'irritable appendix' for a while, which then became 'grumbling appendix', until they finally decided to take it out...

CADS · 21/10/2005 09:02

Morning ladies

Trying to catch up on all the news. Can tell you are all playing the waiting game. Will post later.

Chacha - Very that you have you mom around. Mine doesn't arrive till 15th Dec

Karma & Sarah - Glad to see your babies have turned. I keep worrying she will turn breech again and keep poking my belly to try and see where her head is.

Tessa - Will post re home visit later. Just have to make it till tomorrow and then I can offically have my birth at home.

i missed out on a full on pram chat last night - we're going to keep \link{http://www.mamasandpapasonline.com/viewitem.php?code=1857649&defc=1857649&page=1&subcat=1153&showtype=P}this

hope this worked!

i dreamt my labour started last night - that's your doing enthusia!!! first i was disappointed when i woke up and could not find any labour starting signs, then made a bacon sandwich, cup of tea and took a mr kiplings lemon slice back to bed, along with my book, felt very very glad that labour has not started and I have several more days of this lady of leisure indulgence. perfect weather for it too!!

am going to finish painting baby room window today and then have encouraged dp to take leave work early for cinema. what a treat!

any southerners planning to go to the baby show? any thoughts on it???

still like to buy a cot and other bits and pieces so thought it might be a good place to go to for a one stop shop?

JenJam · 21/10/2005 09:21

could someone explain ...what's wrong with my link??

babyonboard · 21/10/2005 09:25

jenjam..i think it's because you didn't put a space before saying 'this'

babyonboard · 21/10/2005 09:26

here you go

it's really nice! everyones pram seems much posher than mine...booo!

babyonboard · 21/10/2005 09:31

and jenjam...your post just made me hungry!
is it true that pineapple can indue labour? we have one sitting in the fridge and I really want it, but am worried it may have unwanted effects..hehe

as for the baby show, i guess it would be good if you are planning to buy stuff. I have been to similar things such as the clothes show and a health and beauty one, and it really is just a glorified market - not worth paying the ticket price just to wander around.

babyonboard · 21/10/2005 09:32

I'd best stop 'board bothering' really and get ready for midwife...but i feel so lazy!

ChaCha · 21/10/2005 09:39

This must be the first time in my entire pregnancy that i'm unable to log into MN every so often. I did not realise that catching up on everyone's news would take so long!!!

Keep expecting to log on and find messages from either Beksmum or Enthusias's DH's. I think it's getting really close now, there is also Layla's mum isn't there...anyone else? Will try and update countdown list later today.

Went on hospital tour last night. We were around 15 couples to begin with in the delivery suite with m/w discussing the A-Z of what goes on. It all got a bit warm in there and I actually thought I was going to pass out Felt really silly but had to ask myself if it's possible to pass out before or during labour!!! I'm terribly squeamish.
Post natal wards are 4 bay beds, 67quid for amenity room without ensuite, 100quid for amenity room with ensuite and 400quid for family room!!! I just don't understand how 4 new mothers and 4 babies are able to get any rest in these wards, it doesn't make sense to me. Anyway..will just have to see what happens.

Oh...before I forget, congrats on your parcel BoB, that's lovely. I still haven't bought even one piece of clothing for bubs and have 2 boxes yet to open! Have been very fortunate in only having to buy things for hospital bag.

Have rattled enough now. Take care and speak soon xxx

Morning!

I was told by midwife last time that the core of fresh pineapple contained an enzyme that can start labour. My waters had broken but nothing else was happening and I was getting close to being induced. We tried the full range of 'getting baby shifted' techniques , including pineapple, and something worked

JenJam · 21/10/2005 09:44

BoB - thanks for link help.

ignore this one everyone...am just seeing if it will work...

this

Morning girls... OMG you have all been so chatty since I logged off yesterday afternoon...! Good to hear you all in such high spirits.
bob that pushchair looks supreme, excellent choice, I am most ous. As for the rest, being a 'non-shopper' I haven't a clue which prams you have your eyes on, but you are all very funny/entertaining on the subject! WOW, just seen what your cousin sent, you lucky thing how fantastic!
karma, your pram looks ace too, ...."outta my way Anna Friel with your Bugaboo!"
Hi lisalisa, I remember a DJ with that name in the 80's.... good show, was it you? Sorry to hear you're feeling so RRRRRubish ... I'm due on Nov. 5th too, cool EDD-05/11/05. This is also my fifth pregnancy although I only have 3 kids so you're not alone in the 5.5.5.5's club.... hang in there, not long to go, and when baby is born your other kids will stop focussing on you to help with the baby, yay! How old are your kids? Old enough to help you out I'm hoping.
Enthusia, good to hear you're feeling chipper again!
golden, sorry to hear your blood sugar levels are hard to manage, and you were sick, your poor thing. LOL at your comment about your DR yesterday, you are so funny! I have not heard of an irritable womb before but the phrase makes me smile... hardly surprising, every entitlement to be irritable!
Kristina, good luck with the DIY!
JenJam, love the sound of your midnight feast, LOL! IMO best cot is the standard little IKEA one, our daughter slept in it until she was 3 and 1/2 she loved it so much! BTW your pram looks great!
Hi ChaCha, hospital sounds v.good, 4 to a ward is comparitively small, you'll be fine, don't worry.

Hi to everyone else too!
