Twinkle - glad you are sounding happier today, hows the rib pain?????

Forgot to say earlier that I had a really odd sensation last night. Bub's head was rubbing against the front of my pelvis, quite low down(painful) and this seemed to cause the whole of my left leg to go numb Had shooting pains down my bum and all the way down my leg, tried to move my leg but couldn't properly. Despite being in pain it was quite funny as I was just standing there, not being able to do anything with a dead leg, DH was in hysterics as I apparently look hilarious. Didn't stop til I sat down and then started again each time I tried to stand up. Has gone now, anyone got any ideas what it was? Bubs isn't trying to escape out of my leg now is he???

Londoner · 21/10/2005 10:50

LOL Enthusia! You poor thing, glad you managed to retain your sense of humour through the dead leg experience... sounds like your baby temporarily trapped a nerve, glad to hear all is back to normal now.

karmamother · 21/10/2005 10:52

Morning ladies.

Can't believe how much sleep I'm getting at the moment. DP is on a golfing trip & comes back today so I didn't have to listen to the snoring last night! Off out soon to find some tester posts for the living room & arrange a carpet measurer to come out. We both need to make a concerted effort to get the decorating done soon.

Goldenodie, sorry to hear about your low sugars. I wonder if its because the babies are demanding so much energy from you now that they're bigger. What about eating more bread with each meal? Alternatively, keep some barley sugar sweets to have between meals to give you a small boost? Have you seen a diabetic nurse recently?

ChaCha, good job you didn't faint on the tour! Do you think you'll be asking for an amenity bed? TBH, even in a side room you can still hear other babies crying. When I had an overnight stay with my car accident, I was on a combined ante/postnatal ward in a side room. Not only was there crying babies but also the sound of fetal hearts from women on a CTG machine. Blimey! On a positive note, for the first 24 hours you're running on pure adrenaline & just want to stare at your wee bundle of lurve, so sleep doesn't always come anyway!

Busy, thanks for the name of that cream. I haven't heard of the Atopalm but I might track down the Avent one. It sounds gorgeous & I might wear it myself!

Cads, I spent 5 mins this morning having a good prod too! I'd be gutted if she turned back to breech.Good luck with the MW visit.

Catch you all later.

twinkle1 · 21/10/2005 10:53

morning enthusia,
your leg thing sounds like bubs head is compressing a nerve cos it go's when u sit down eg babys head is in a slightly different posistion Oh the joys of pregnancy. As for my ribs they are a little better but still hurt like hell
hopefully you will have a baby soon and be a lot more comfortable
twinkle

Busyalexsmummy · 21/10/2005 11:01

enthusia- I cvan relate to the dead leg thing, I get it everyday! When it happens I cant feel the skin on that particular leg, it goes completely numb! its a pain though i agree.

does anyone use avent moisturising light oil? its brilliant, discovered when pg with ds, it smells divine and is especially good foot using when your partner gives you a foot rub/massage....yummmy!

cant beleive dp woke me up at 5am this morning wanting to do some BD'ing!! on yer bike my love! then I couldnt get back to sleep because the rain was absolutely hammering it down!

karmamother · 21/10/2005 11:02

Lol at Londoner!

Forgot to say, GoldenOldie, An irritable womb is a common term used when your uterus isn't exactly contracting but not far off. For example, if you have a water infection it can sometimes cause an irritable womb which feels like labour pains but its not. As you're so far into your pregnancy it's not going to cause concern,IMO.

Ditto Twinkle1. Sounds like the sciatic nerve which runs through the buttock down the back of te eg dow to the heel. Enthusia, if it happens again, go on all fours to take the pressure off that area. HTH.

Right, I'm really of now!

karmamother · 21/10/2005 11:04

Busy, sorry for the ignorance, whats BDing?

Busyalexsmummy · 21/10/2005 11:13

karmamother · 21/10/2005 11:14

Busyalexsmummy · 21/10/2005 11:39

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF??????!!!!!

tessasmum · 21/10/2005 11:50

Can't type, laughing too much!!!!!
Thanks Karma

JenJam · 21/10/2005 12:19

sorry to interrupt banter...but just want to pick the brains of those who have had babies already - I can't find much on google - I have diahorreah and feel v. nauseous....I know about the link between diahorreah and labour starting, but what about the sickness. I want to throw up. is this linked with the onset of imminent labour?

Enthusia · 21/10/2005 12:31

JenJam - yes sickness can be a sign of labour starting, can be lotsof other things as well unfortunately!!!!! Any other signs? How exciting

JenJam · 21/10/2005 12:52

not exciting in the slightest
i have had my head in toilet. and nausea feeling still here...sorry - TMI, but can't find anything in the preg books i got from library to say whether or not this is 'quick pack your bag time' (which i still haven't done)
DP is on his way home to work here and keep me company
feel like a sick 8 year old, crying for my mum!

tessasmum · 21/10/2005 13:28

No-one had told me about throwing up either JenJam though I think I had started contracting and my stomach had come out in sympathy!
All I can remember was being really cross that no-one had said that I might be sick, and that all my pineapple was re-emerging (see earlier post)

Hope your DH turns up soon with hugs and sympathy

JenJam · 21/10/2005 13:30

feeling a bit better now since throwing up - perhaps it was the vitamin supplements...high levels of iron sometimes for no rhyme or reason (on an empty stomach, on a full stomach) make me sick. worry over - and thx for msg enthusia!

Enthusia · 21/10/2005 13:33

Sorry, yeah didn't mean the sickness itself was exciting. I despise being sick, so sympathy. Was more thinking about you maybe being on the brink of handling your new bundle.

Hope DH arrives home soon to pamper you!!!

JenJam · 21/10/2005 13:39

feel like i could even manage a cup o tea and a lemon slice...hehe

Enthusia · 21/10/2005 13:42

Must be feeling better then

Haven't heard of craving lemon slices as being an indication of labour!!!

Hope you stay nice an happy and can enjoy the rest of the day with your DH!!!!!!

JenJam · 21/10/2005 13:44

hmm best warn dp that i'm feeling better ...if he rushes home to find me clearning out the cake box he will not be amused!

Enthusia · 21/10/2005 13:47

Don't know I am sure you could make up an excuse, isn't lemon meant to settle the stomach and aid digestion not sure about the cream and pastry though - might get away with last minute cravings!!! Either that or hide the box FAST and lie on the settee with a cold flannel on forehead and bowl on floor (if extra sympathy is required!)!

babyonboard · 21/10/2005 14:43

Glad you are feeling better!and of course, you need the sugar rush to boost your mood after feeling awful..teehee
I opted out of shopping....dp will be shocked! hehe, I just couldn't walk as the spd is terrible today.
We did have a lovely lunch though at a tapas bar, we ordered six each and shared them all..pretty much the entire menu! teeheee

baby is head down, but not engaged...hoorah! he'd better stay put now!
My gran told me that her mum had 7 breech babies, and they made her go into hospital and put her stomach in a wooden vice like corset when the baby was head down so that they wouldn't move to breech..
But apparantly when they removed it for labour every single one of them turned breech right away..
very odd story!

i was just really shocked by a woman in the clinic waiting room, she is 30 weeks, and we were taking about drinking during pregnancy and she told me she has a bottle and half of wine to herself around 3 or 4 nights a week!!!!
she said she didn't drink up to 12 weeks, but after that the baby is developed enough so there is no risk of damage or causing foetal alcohol syndrome..
I didn't quite know what to say..
wonder if the midwife knows this!?

twinkle1 · 21/10/2005 15:21

god!!! glad im not her midwife
glad everyone is feeling well this afternoon.I really cant be arsed to go and pack (bad mummy) but must summon up energy,at least i made it to tesco and have sorted the dishwasher. We will be back on sun but would like the house to be reasonable to come back too
Im looking forward to seeing friends at home but i am not fancying the 2.5hr drive in this foul weather oh well.I am thinking that i should prob take my bags and the car seat just in case sprout decides to make an apperance do you think i am been paranoid???
well must go and pack, no i really must
twinkle
35+1

hamster · 21/10/2005 16:06

Good afternoon...

Good to hear that most of us are feeling quite well. Even though the weather is completely awful today.
Very not good, as I can't get my feet into my shoes(swollen lady), and flip-flops aren't really practical when it's wet! Anyway....

Babyonboard, I can't believe anyone would think that just because you're past a certain period of your pg, that large amounts of alcohol would be fine again. I must admit I have had the odd glass of wine or half a larger-top, but never more than that in a day.
Still, it's her prerogative.......unfortunately for the baby.

So then, who's gonna be next? Enthusia is my bet(along with everyone else's!)
I don't think I'll be for at least another week or 2. I reckon my baby's far to comfy in there, and DS was 10 days late.
But we'll see what MW says on Tuesday.

Jenjam-hope you're feeling better. You never know, it could be hormonal changes. Maybe your body preparing? I don't know. I had a little sickness and diarrhoea on my hols about 6 weeks ago and panicked myself silly that it was early labour, but nothing came of it.
Just make sure you eat little and often to keep your energy up-just incase!

Well I'll be off, will prob be on next on Tuesday. Have a great weekend all(even if it is crappy and wet)

xx
