babyonboard · 20/10/2005 20:06

you are all so posh on the 'waiting list' for your pram...hehheheheee

KristinaM · 20/10/2005 20:09

we are indeed so posh... you are lucky that we even speak to the likes of you

KristinaM · 20/10/2005 20:14

Bob - i have had two gracos and people always say they are rubbish but I love them. The first one has been used for 5 years and is just fine, although obviously it looks a bit tatty. they were both pretty cheap, about £60, are really light, 6kg i think. Not stylish but I dont care. At least my back isnt sore hulking a big designer monstrosity out the boot 6 times a day. So just ignore what people say about the Hauck if you like it

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 20:15

teeeheee....
well..i must say cost was a big concern for us, the one we have was £140 or so including footmuff, raincover, parasol etc, its a 4 wheel (big bmx style ones too..just for dp..hehehe)2 in 1...and so nice!
I reckon we'll end up mainly using a lightweight buggy after 10 months ish (being in london, and not affording a house we have stairs to deal with!)so the shelf life isn't a concern really..
Plus....he will feel 'posh' as we have a cot from my aunt that she paid £800 ish for...eeek!

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 20:19

this is the one

i like the shiny blueness..and the big wheels

KristinaM · 20/10/2005 20:23

i like the shiny blueness..and the big wheels

...sounds like Thomas the Tank Engine

No seriously, looks like a good deal to me. So nice to have a winter baby snuggled up in a carry cot

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 20:28

oooh and speaking of winter babies..
with all this talk of us having a hellish winter this year, what can we get for the baby?
for his 'going home ' outfit we have a fleecy trouser and jumper set, plus a jacket and fluffy booties..but I am thinking I should buy a 'pram suit' are thse just for babies in a pushchair, as surely in a pram, with all the blankets he will be fine?
....And what do you do about their poor tiny faces to protect them from the cold?

Busyalexsmummy · 20/10/2005 20:28

aww looks cool. cant wait to get my matrix out again!!(i only like the powertrack with the matrix, dont like it once theyve outgrown it and converts to a "normal" 3wheeler)but then it was dps choice and i made the comprimise!-i would of had a four wheel similar to yours BoB

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 20:31

and with all the baby 'equipment' talk..
I must add, dp is hassling for us to get a carry basket..he really wants one for him to take him out in..he reckons it's much nicer than a sling or pram...
teeehheeee

KristinaM · 20/10/2005 20:33

whats a carry basket?

Busyalexsmummy · 20/10/2005 20:33

personally bob, when in pram i think snowsuits are hard work- i found blankets easier as i could remove them when i went indoors somewhere, without waking him, with a pramsuit you would almost definately wake the baby whilst getting it uncovered

you can get like a moisturising cream for babys faces that protects against the weather, cant remember name but i'll find it out at some point, really though, you'll be suprised that the pram does really keep them warm, especially once theyve got a few blankets over them too-if its really windy you could do what we used to and put the raincover on for added protection

Busyalexsmummy · 20/10/2005 20:34

yeah, whats a carry basket??

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 20:36

well..i can't find one even online
...apparantly in his country all babies have them..it's a small wicker basket with mattress essentially...
he has many cute pics of him in one..but lord knows why he would want to cart one around! heheee
I thought the same about snowsuits, they would bne a pain..and please look up this cream!
..we will get some gobags when he is a bit bigger which will be ideal I think...

KristinaM · 20/10/2005 20:36

agree, remember you need layers you can take off easily when you go indoors. Like in a shop or on the bus. Its dangerous to let then overheat. i also do the moisturiser thing in the winter but just use normal, unscented cream that I use myself. But weather is probably worse here than where you live

babyonboard · 20/10/2005 20:37

but just to add..why would dp want to appear like a meddireanian lady with child in basket!?
we will have a great pram, and a car seat my mum bought which seem so much more reasonable...

KristinaM · 20/10/2005 20:38

oh go on, find us a pic. maybe you need to search under the word for carry basket in DHs language

Busyalexsmummy · 20/10/2005 20:43

visions of your dh walking round the high street carrying a moses basket

Busyalexsmummy · 20/10/2005 20:46

btw, I will find the name of the cream, its in alexs room at the mo,so cant really go in and get it as he'll wake up!will let you know tommorrow

tessasmum · 20/10/2005 20:57

All this talk of prams!!

Our Powertrack is still in daily use, just need to find all the bits to reconvert it, and check how we are going to get Tessa's seat and the Matrix in the car! Nasty feeling we are going to be back to one of us sitting in the back! Tessa's a bad enough backseat driver, she will be in her element if she gets to sit in the front

karmamother · 20/10/2005 21:07

Wow, those prams sounds frightfully posh! Actually, whilst we were in M&P yesterday I saw someone with a bugaboo. I pointed this out to dp - that they were rather expensive & all that Anna Friel has one. He thought I'd gone insane for actually just knowing ths.

Anyway, going to attempt a link with my pram on it.
this

karmamother · 20/10/2005 21:12

yay, it worked!! I've just lost my link virginity. Not as scary as I'd anticipated.
BTW mine is in the moonrock colour. They do a really nice traditional type pram with carrycot in a gorgeous pink tweed check which grabbed my attention. Since I know its a girl I'm inexplicably drawn to anything pink. Knew this would happen.....I'll be bankrupt before she's born.

karmamother · 20/10/2005 21:15

Speaking of winter clothing, what do you all think of those special Christmas/Santa outfits for babies? DP told me that we would be divorced before we were even married if I bought anything remotely Santa-like.

Busyalexsmummy · 20/10/2005 21:42

i think the sleepsuits are a bit of fun(for xmas eve etc) but i wont be taking new baby out in a santa suit or anything! eww tacky! but will probably buy it a christmassy outfit to wear on xmas day

Busyalexsmummy · 20/10/2005 21:44

karma-oooh just took a peek and saw the pink pram, its lovellllllly!....wish i knew what were having..oh well........soon anough

karmamother · 20/10/2005 21:48

I agree. Baby clothes are expensive enough without buying an outfit that has such a short lifespan. For my DS's 2nd Christmas I got him an outfit from M&S which was a red t shirt with red tartan dungies...just christmassy enough.

Just been looking through the Mamas & Papas catalogue...My God is it expensive? The Christmas gift catalogue has motorised cars for £340,FFS!
