Chacha-we aslo used the matrix when we went away/were out late for ds to sleep in, he was incredibly happy with it and wouldnt sleep anywhere else to begin with which was a pain until he was 4/5 days old and we managed to get him into his moses basket!

Ooh Nova, Thank you and well done on the registering, still haven't definitely decided on a name yet! I woke up in the night a few nights ago and was convinced we should call her Mary! Told dp in the morning that I was thinking of changing her name and he told everyone! Now everyone's asking!! Oh well!

Has Natalie got a middle name? And I agree - woohoo to dark haired baby girls of around 6lb12/6lb13!! Hehe! Went on your site the other day and ds was convinced your baby was ours! They do look quite similar - maybe it's the hair!

Where is Enthusia Chacha? Is she ok?

And where is Beks?! Do you think she may have had the baby by now? Or just cooped up at hospital?

Bob, I think if your not married you have to go and register together, but very handy being in the hospital! As long as you've decided on a name!

Right, going to have a look at the photo thingy

ChaCha · 26/10/2005 20:40

Hi to Rodeo and Nova - feel like you're both in another realm. Have you started a post natal thread for us to bug your brains yet?

Just posted a pic on the photobucket thingy, it's me and DH, I have loads of pics but no working scanner right now so will have to get some on there. I prefer something that is password protected (and that only we know) so only keeping it on for a while. Maybe someone (BoB - hint, hint) can start a hotmail/yahoo group or the like.

Any bedding ideas for me yet?
Oh, Rodeo - Enthusia is in Manchester with her DH as he's there on business.

Jaysfirst · 26/10/2005 21:27

Well should you wish to do it then here it is. I have set up a yahoo account now which is somewhat more secure its now open to all to join...

health.groups.yahoo.com/group/mumsnetpix/

I will delete the other account tomorrow, just leave it up long enough for others to know the situation! Hope this gets going as well as the other one began!

JenJam · 27/10/2005 08:49

Where is everyone this morning? WAKE UP!!

no further signs from me

BoB how did you midwife check how many cms dilated you are? two fingers or whole hand? i'm starting to worry about pain of vaginal exams?!! (the least of my worries i know, but .... that bloody book said that the exams hurt) was the checking itself painful for you?

PMSL looking at the very scary knitting patterns.

(when i say PMSL - i really did - had to go upstairs and take my pyjamas off much to dp's disgust - he was standing behind me ironing a shirt for work at the time - oh get used to it!)

DO YOU THINK THE POOR CHILDREN ARE CRYING BEHIND THE KNITTED MASKS?

okay now going to sort out some piles. i have neat little piles of stuff in every room of my home. Glad I went to the babyshow as i have some more leaflets - you can never have enough i find -

Anyone have any filing / organisational tips (nice boxes, filesm, filing cabinets, storage solutions etc maybe i'll buy something that will revolutionise my life.

goldenoldie · 27/10/2005 09:19

Morning JenJam

Diege · 27/10/2005 09:26

Hi Jenjam! I am awake (well just, after 3 wakeups in night to take dds back to beds, including one 45 min tantrum over a tiger cushion...)I honestly think I'm not going to notice much difference to my sleep patterns with a newborn, although there is the 'yet to be spoken' concern that they will wake baby so there will be no in-between bits in which to get back to sleep!!Arghhhh!!!!Wish I could access these pics - not sure what I'm dping wrong as I have tried following links. I can only imagine from your description, and it's not pretty! Re: storage, I try to organise things into those wicker/sea grass boxes. They do look nice, but to be honest you may as well dump things into a carrier bag if it's organisation you're after. LOL leaflets! You will be pleased with your bounty packs!!
I'm sorting out boxes too today, hopefully clearing a space in the kitchen for bottles/sterilisers etc. Also want to buy some mega-snacks for labour bag (they don't let you eat in labour in warrington, but for god's sake I was starving and weak with labour no.2 so I'll chance a glucose tablet/frosties bar when they pop out. Fascists!! Don't know why it's acceptable in the states/other health authorities, but not here?
Had thickish discharge this morning; not a show by any means, but different from norm. 37+4 today, but don't think I'll get to 40 weeks as both dds 39+2. Midwife thinks I'll be 39 with this one too, although head is still 'free'. Seeing her this afternoon, so we'll see!
Happy sorting!
Diege.

babyonboard · 27/10/2005 09:54

Yay! The digital camera I wanted is half price in boots..that means I'll have about 7000 points left to spend on baby stuff!

Great excuse to go shopping instead of sorting today...
i must say jenjam when I firsat read 'today I'm sorting piles' I thought you meant the haemmeroid variety.....teeheee

babyonboard · 27/10/2005 09:56

Speaking of which..I'm going to buy some bottles today, do you think it's best to buy one each of a few different brands?
I want the mam anti colic ones, but they are expensive and it's be a pain if the baby doesn't like them.

babyonboard · 27/10/2005 09:58

aaaaand..... are baby lotions and oils neccesary?
My mum thinks so, but i read somewhere they don't need anything like that.

Jaysfirst · 27/10/2005 10:12

lol BoB I too thought of the bottom variety of 'piles'

Not sure about the oils and lotions being totally needed, i just know that they smell wonderful and.. well.. 'baby'!!

sarahsausage · 27/10/2005 10:21

Morning.

Trying to upload photos to the yahoo site but i think they may be rather large photos as its taking forever.

Excuse the pic of me, was dps 21st and was a little miffed that everyone was drunk and i had to stay sober and listen to them all!

Diege · 27/10/2005 10:22

Ooh BOB, I can sense a shopping spree coming on!I would suggest from experience the Avent bottles - they don't leak, and are supposedly anti-colic due to wide neck/some'unique' flow mechanism thingy. Worked for me, and also quite reasonable/compatible with breast feeding pumps/storage systems etc. Re: baby lotions/ oils, I've also read that they aren't really necessary, but both my babies had very dry, flaxy skin that I felt really benefitted (though not after every top/tail/bath). I also went easy of bathing, and just used plain water for first few days. Have bought stuff from baby organics this time. Smells gorgeous!, though good old Johnsons is brill too! BTW, have just discovered the Huggies PURE baby wipes, which are supposedly equivalent to just soap and water (ie. no parabens). Good offer on in supermarkets oin special packs that include tub, refills, and travel wipe case. For a lazy ar*e like me, they are a godsend. The noivelty of cooled, boiled water really wears off after the first few days (well, hours!!). Happy shopping!
Right, back to picture link for another try!

Morning all,

Just a quick one, as I am feeling terrible this morning-tired and sick-can't look at screen for too long as makes me feel worse!

Well, hope everyone's feeling good. No more babies?.....come on ladies...crack open the Raspberry leaf tea, fresh pineapple and get those men of yours into strict regimes of physical luvvin!....Yeah right, I can't be bothered either!

Went to see MW on Tuesday, not my usual lady which miffed me a bit, but nevermind.
She told me my baby feels big, I look really big, that it wouldn't be coming in the next week or so(so not to get my hopes up-charming!)and that sex is by far the best thing I could be doing to move things along..yuck!
Diege-head is also "free" here...but lets not let that get us down!
Needless to say I don't want to see her again!
Next appointment is made for week after next-so lets hope I don't make it that far!

I'm going, prob pop on over the weekend. Feel sick!
Catch you all later
xx

BOB - Crashin from Feb DD broke her arm a week and a half before the bloody wedding!!! Then the day before the wedding, she wriggled her cast off, so my supposedly "relaxing" last day, was spent in hospital!!

ChaCha · 27/10/2005 10:59

Morning ladies,

No news from Beks! Does anyone keep in touch with her via email/texts?

Jenjam - I've got shelves of storage boxes, CD & Photo boxes in our study - bought them last year in WHSmith in purple suede, green suede and some different colours and designs. Pretty and organised storage solution! HTH

Just plucked up the courage to tell mum that I don't want her DP around when I go into labour/return home. Felt like I was 12 again, that was really hard....phew!!!

novadandypowder · 27/10/2005 11:42

BOB, I have the MAM anti-colic jobbies and natalie loves them. They do need to be taken apart to steralise though which can be a bit fiddly and takes up more room in the steraliser (mine is supposed to do 6 bottles at a time but i can only fit 3 in). However, once you've done it a couple of times it really doesn't take too long. Other slightly annoying thing is that the measurements start at 60mls, so it's hard to tell how much she's had some times.

Rodeo, we decided at the last minute to give her my first name as a second name, so she's Natalie Samantha.

Sorry to say that I've joined the october babies post natal club, but it takes quite a bit of time to check this one and that one, so lordie knows what will happen when the nov post natal club starts up - i'll never leave the house.

chacha, what was your bedding query?

Diege · 27/10/2005 11:45

Congrats ChaCha on plucking up the courage! Bet you feel miles better now! .
Hope you're feeling a bit better Hamster - do you think the nausea might be a sign of something starting? Is this your first baby?; it's no.3 for me, but head engaged at 36 weeks with 1 & 2. Think it could be something to do with position of bubs, which is still 'back to back', though head down. Maybe it will never engage...Can't some midwife's be insensitive! I've found that these sorts of comments usually reveal a gap in their knowledge, hence the bravado/bluntness! Agree about grossness of 'getting things going' - I've mangaged to hold off for 8 months, and I'm not starting now! .

Shopping tip - re: Advent bottles. Asda own brand are made by Advent too and they are about a third of the price. I've had no luck getting hold of them - always sold out in my local store.
