BoB - WoW!! How are you feeling? Are you ready for what could be the inevitable? Keep posting, must keep Enthusia updated with any progress on here

I just bought the magazine with the freebie birth book in it yesterday but haven't got round to reading it yet. I bought a one-off mag called 'I'm Pregnant' that has a lot of best buys etc. in it and am still browsing hrough that. Anyone read it? Costs 4.99.

Londoner - Glad you had such a lovely night and meal to top it all off. So you knocked them all dead then?

BoB - My mum was exactly the same, as soon as I had any possible symptom of anything the big red medical encyclopedia was out! Am quite glad that we did not have the internet when I was growing up!

Mum is being a great help, she's put up the cot (awww...it's lovely) and tidied everything away but I can't keep up. She is awake first thing with her notebook and organiser making lists and arranging the day. There are lists on the back of doors including lists of things I have to buy as well as jobs to be done and now she is pushing for me to do a car boot sale on weekend to get rid of my old clothes and bags. Can't complain as i've been on my own a long time and the help is fantastic, guess i'm just not used to it, been independent for too long. Well, there's my say for the day. I best get back to Wallace & Grommit, I don't seem to have the concentration span for a full sit down movie.

Ooooh...before i forget. What kind of cot bedding have you all gone for? And what about cot mobile? Wish i could make my own, hate all those big scary looking animals, just want some simple moons, stars etc..any suggestions?

Right..movie!

oh, okay bob sounds like a big help, my eldest son wears c.lenses and I know how much that stuff comes to!

babyonboard · 26/10/2005 16:30

chacha...sounds like your mum has given you a kick up the ass to get sorted..thats just what I need1
Every time I think we are ready I remember something else I need to buy or do, or come across some overflowing cupboard or box of junk to sort out..but the nI decide I'd much rather make a milkshake and sit down for a while..hehehee
we have got plain white and blue crib bedding and a few fleecy cot/pram blankets.
Also just got a lovely navy sheepskin type rug..I wanted one for the baby to lie on as we have floorboards throughout the flat, but all the ones I had seen were white or cream which we would regret when we tried to scrub the vomit stains out..hehehe
Ikea have some really nice mobiles
here

but there are more in store..I wish they would start doing online ordering..i hate ikea!

Londoner · 26/10/2005 16:33

Hi ChaCha! LOL at your whirlwind mum... YIKES! Must tire you out just being in her presence.... but wonderful I know . Glad to hear it's all going along so smoothly, and she might be moving to be nearer to you, babies are strange & wonderful creatures aren't they? They do have the most amazing and sometimes unexpected effect .
And no, I did not knock them dead this week, ah well. No indeed... I actually had to ask big son (he's 5' 11"!) to pull me along, yes literally!, to the train station... "just pull me, we've got to catch that train!" like a mad woman, it was agony!.... we caught it with 30 seconds to spare! No wonder my BP is raised today eh! lol!.
Will knock 'em dead next time instead.....

babyonboard · 26/10/2005 16:35

speaking of contact lenses..another reason why baby should stay put is that I've run out, and mine take a week to order..
I don't fancy labour in glasses and all the pics afterwards..i really hate wearing them ..I think I have a funny shaped nose but they never stay on..hehehee

Londoner · 26/10/2005 16:38

Any chance you could pick up a box of dailies to keep you going, or do they need to be ordered in as well?

babyonboard · 26/10/2005 16:44

No..unfortunately i have them to correct astigmatism so they have to be specially ordered!
you must all think I'm really shallow with my concerns about matching underwear and not wanting to wear glasses for the birth...
heeheeeee

Londoner · 26/10/2005 17:03

Actually just felt rather inadequate & shoddy! lol! Being turfed off now by ds2, see you soooooooon!

Diege · 26/10/2005 17:22

Bob - it may be different where you are, but we're not allowed to wear contact lenses for the birth(like they'd know!). I kept mine in for dds though, and they were none the wiser. I don't think you're shallow at all (bearing in mind that I've been asked to remove my acrylic nails for the birth, have said no, and midwife has had to write in my notes that I refused consent .). Yes, it is shallow, but when you've just paid £35 for a new set, and have toe nails that can be looked at if need be if ever needing a general anasthetic! Feel even shallower now telling you all - can imagine the tutts and shaked heads !!Oh I am so sick of kids videos (toy story 2 now - it's so long!!), and am cross for being so unimaginative on a rainy day!
Diege.

babyonboard · 26/10/2005 17:31

Teehee..thank god Diege!
I mean, this will be one of the most undignified things I ever do..I'd rather make sure my nails are nice, my glasses aren't falling off and I'm not wearing greying underwear..hehehee
do you know why the ydon't allow contacts? I wear the ones you keep in for an entire month, day and night..I guess I could plead that I need them for medical reasons..hehehe
I am just putting some pics on the 'november' bit of the photobucket if anyone is interested..it does take forever though, and it seems you have to 'view slideshow' or they are only about an inch big.

flutterbee · 26/10/2005 17:35

Hi BOB,

Just seen your pics on photobucket, your cats adorable

babyonboard · 26/10/2005 17:41

Aw thanks!, she's lovely ...12 years old now!
..sadly she's with my mum now as we are in London and I was too scared to bring her!

Jaysfirst · 26/10/2005 17:45

cool, thanks bob for putting your pics up in the Nov folder, they only take a bit of a while to download if they are big pics, as the site has to resize them, and you should be able to view them individually have a look at Decembers, you can see them individuall. Cmon the rest of you!! ( no presure really! )
J

babyonboard · 26/10/2005 17:49

Thanks for setting it up jaysfirst!
..I wanted to post pics online but am a bit clueless...hehhee

Jaysfirst · 26/10/2005 17:56

No probs, i love pics and if i am going to be chatting away to peeps its always nice to know who they are! ( plus i am nosey!) Feel free to add and delete.. will have to watch the amount of space there is, as i only did the basic subscription so space is limited. For the moment its ok but if we get lots of peeps on it we may need to limit the pics....will wait and see

babyonboard · 26/10/2005 18:02

Oh my god..my friend just emailed me some pictures from knitting patterns..they are on photobucket under 'incredibly scary'
..she is making the baby black and white striped beret and scarf..she thinks we should go for the beatnik baby look..hehehe

Jaysfirst · 26/10/2005 18:19

GOOOOOD LOOORD BOB... they are mad patterns, they look like they are about to commit a bank robbery.....

babyonboard · 26/10/2005 18:33

i know..they remind me of the scary band 'kiss'..
who on earth would put their child in that!?
they are from the 70's btw....

babyonboard · 26/10/2005 18:47

Ooooh..i am so pleased..i just called boots because they hadn't applied 200 free points on a no7 product for me and they added 1000 advantage points a goodwill gesture..
with the 2499 (admittedly not free as dp paid for the damn huggies box) and the almost 10000 I had I can now get a posh digital camera for free which will be great for when the baby arrives..
so pleased!
It was going to go towards a mini ipod for dp for xmas, but I'm sure he'll be happy with a new pair of cufflinks or smething..hehehe

Diege · 26/10/2005 19:31

wow BOB, free money! My DH always laughs when I get excited about points, and doesn't 'get it' that they are free (well, in your case they really are!). I have actually lost my advantage card, so need to get round to ringing them up.
Re: contact lenses, I think again it's to do with the dreaded general anasthetic (visions from ER about taped down eyelids), but if you waer them at night anyway I can't see the problem. To be on the safe side, I wouldn't bother telling them (ooh, aren't we the rebels!!. Will try and see your piccies!
Diege.

Jaysfirst · 26/10/2005 19:35

About time Boots did something good for a change, i used to work for them at the head office in Nottingham, knew a girl who worked in the Ad card section....werent as forthcoming then... you did good BOB!

babyonboard · 26/10/2005 19:44

diege ..I wore them for my appenicectomy (how do you spell that!) but no one asked so I didn't know any better...
Boots have been great with me..they gave me free points when I called to ask why I hadn't recieved the parenting club vouchers too..
and i promise I didn't moan or complain..I didn't expect anything but they were very forthcoming!
Bad for jenjam that british gas don't care so much!

again i am posting too much..dp is out for the evening and if i move from here i get worried about every little pain...heehehheehh

tessasmum · 26/10/2005 19:53

ChaCha - we used our Jane carseat as somewhere for Tessa to sleep if we went away anywhere over the first 3 months or so. Never seemed to bother her and from what I remember she slept really well. Not sure about using it all the time though.

Sounds like things are really kicking off now - BoB and JenJam on a bit of a countdown (maybe!) and no word from BEKS.
I'm still getting twinges but nothing to stop me in my tracks, I think the other night was just to put the wind up me and make sure I had everything sorted
Baby can't come yet, I've got curtains to make for our room and I really can't do that one-handed

novadandypowder · 26/10/2005 19:55

evening all

rodeo - ahhhh to cute baby girls

got natalie registered today - she's a real person now. bit embarrassing trying to get the pram around people in the waiting room though, insert you women drivers joke here!

it's getting quite exciting on here now. i've forgotten what it's like to be pregnant already.

babyonboard · 26/10/2005 20:04

Nova..good to hear from you..you sound in good spirits!
I'm worried about the pram manouvering too, especially seeing so many women struggle on buses running over peoples feet and shopping etc.
Our registry office is within the hospital grounds..do you think dp can go do it even before we are released?

Tessa..I was just blahing to my brother about possible imminent labour and that the baby can't come yet as we have things to do and he suggested standing on my head...teeheee
