Executive decision that at 987 posts we're moving over!

New challenge - can we fill up 1000 posts before the first babies arrive, given that we managed to keep our legs crossed all through the last one?!

First babies are due, officially, next month but are there any in such a hurry to see the world that they can beat our chatting?

Woop. Well done Frak. Morning all. x

Odd day for me today. I'm visiting childminders. I don't even have a child (yet).

JoEW · 24/02/2011 07:44

I win. I win. Conor Hannes Wehring, born 22nd Feb at 2017. Weight 3lbs 8oz. I'm totally shattered and shellshocked. Keeping everything crossed that my teeny little baby boy is ok. He's in an incubator and having help breathing but early signs are positive. I saw him yesterday evening and will be going back today. It's really tricky to get on to the web on my phone but I'll try to keep you updated.

Loads of luck to everyone else in the April family. I can't believe I've missed April by two months! Really must plan better.

Daisy17 · 24/02/2011 10:28

Oh poor tiny little Conor! All the luck in the world, Jo, thank goodness the care is so amazing these days. X. Babies really are arriving already! Midwife threw me yesterday by telling me that bean is already three fifths engaged!!! but apparently this is all quite normal for 34 weeks. But blimey! ShockGrin

lucielooo · 24/02/2011 10:38

Huge congratulations jo and welcome to baby Conor :)

Hope you're both doing really well.. can we have a virtual wine or two to celebrate Conor's arrival Wine Wine

JustKeepSwimming · 24/02/2011 11:00

Oi JoEW! talk about queue-jumping!!! Grin

Congratulations on gorgeous Conor, he sounds dinky but like he's doing well already :)

You had the same EDD as me i think (17th?) so he was born at 31+2.
Just think, when I'm still waddling about you could be in Paris with Conor!!

Hope you get to spend lots of cuddle-time with him, kangaroo care, etc & are you pumping milk? Also try and get some sleep/rest in there somewhere.

LisMcA · 24/02/2011 11:20

Gosh, I have a lie in and then come on here......new thread and a baby!!!

Congratulations Jo, Conor is a beautiful name! Lots of good wishes heading your way! He was a decent size to for a wee one too!

I am currently surrounded by Amazon boxes, it's like Christmas!! We now have our baby bath, top and tail bowl and some other bits and bobs Amazon conned me into buying I thought would be useful :o

Really must be more prepared! It's March nest week!!

kitstwins · 24/02/2011 11:40

Wow JO congratulations. Nearly 32 weeks is very good - he's a good weight for that gestation. Just concentrate on getting lots of rest as you must have had a rollercoaster few days.

Just bought a nappy bin and two booster car seats. Nearly got conned into buying a mini dummy steraliser as it looked rather jolly in the photograph. But sense prevailed, thank God! All we need now is the baby carseat. I refuse to organise this as my husband promised airily and with great largesse that he'd do this and ON PRINCIPLE I'm not going to cave. We will obviously have no carseat until the baby is born.

Did I mention we still had our two-seater sports car and NO CAR SEATS when the girls were a week old and just about to come home from hospital? Jeeeeez!

I am vast. Everyone thinks I'm having a boy, which for some reason is really annoying me. I don't know what I'm having so why is everyone convinced it's a boy. Apparently my bump is neat and high, although I keep (wearily) saying it was neat and high (albeit massive) when I was pregnant with two girls!

Seeing my consultant tomorrow. Am going to raise the spectre of a waterbirth and watch him turn purple!

AussieMum2Be · 24/02/2011 12:56

Super Huge Congrats JO to you and your OH, a big welcome to the world to the 1st baby of the thread, Conor.

This is so exciting, I already called my DP to let him know someone on thread had their baby already, I think he is a little freaked out now ! whoops.

We are picking up our Carseat tonight and one of our friends has insisted on buying something for the baby that we havent already bought, he wants to spend around £100, thinking about asking for the Pacapod changing bag as it is 1 of the only thing left to buy under £100 and is quite expensive for a bag just to carry diapers but I really, really want it and had been thinking about getting one a bit cheaper on Ebay pre-loved, soooooo, hopefully thats not to cheeky !

Day off tomorrow and ive got all my muslin cloths for newborn diapers that im gonna start practising different folds on a teddy tomorrow via the amazing instructions available online. Theres so many fold options, Gonna be the Origami Nappy Queen !!

Cyclebump · 24/02/2011 13:06

I got a brand new Pacapod (with labels still on) for £50 on eBay. It's a satchel one so not a 'lady-like' one but I LOVE it!

kittycatcat · 24/02/2011 13:08

Aussiemum i LOVE my pacapod. DO IT! I have started putting bits in it already :)

Cyclebump · 24/02/2011 13:11

Me too Kitty! It has nappies in it already and I'm planning on putting mummy snacks and chilled water in the food pod for when I BF and until baby is big enough for weaning.

kittycatcat · 24/02/2011 13:13

Oh that's a good idea cycle!

Speaking of nappies. I am a touch overwhelmed. Suggestions? I have no clue what size kittens going to be but guess after my mate was told she was having a 7.5 1b and pushed out a 9.5 1b there is no way of knowing til it arrives.... dont know what to get, or what brand!

Cyclebump · 24/02/2011 13:42

I'm going for Nature ones. I have friends who use them and recommend them. My sisters and I didn't get on with disposables and, unless were travelling, my mum used terrycloth. I've bought a large pack of newborn ones for my hospital bag and will probably stock up when on maternity leave.

I'm hoping to go the reusable route as disposables are so expensive over time and I worry that baby will have the same problems with disposables as we did (horrendously bad nappy rash if mum used them non-stop).

A friend used the Nature ones first then phased in reusables so I'm hoping to do the same. I may have to give up if it's too hard but there's no harm in trying I reckon.

I've been looking at BumGenius reusables as they seem easy to use. I ordered one to check it out (I loved it) and may buy a birth to potty kit. Their resale value is really good so if I fail miserably and don't end up using them then they'll be eBay bound!
