Executive decision that at 987 posts we're moving over!

New challenge - can we fill up 1000 posts before the first babies arrive, given that we managed to keep our legs crossed all through the last one?!

First babies are due, officially, next month but are there any in such a hurry to see the world that they can beat our chatting?

lucie I'm so with you... was all energised during the day yesterday, did some more clearing of building rubble & sorting in the house, then by the time the evening rolled round & I should have been preparing the lovely, healthy, iron rich dinner I had in mind, the knackered-ness hit and a curry got ordered instead! Oh well. Prawn taught me a lesson by waking me throughout the night, just to remind me he/she's still there jumping around!

Trying not to panic that we don't collect our equipment (pram, buggy) till end March, can always call the shop & get it in early if needed I'm sure! Got to concentrate on classes for the beginning of March then I'll do all packing end March... and hope prawn doesn't come early!

Cyclebump · 27/02/2011 10:18

I'm sitting surrounded by boxes trying not to panic!

Worktops have started going in in the kitchen but there's dust everywhere, we have no kitchen sink or washing machine and the flat is a complete state. Oh well, have to remember this is the most stressful period of the kitchen refit and it'll be over fairly soon.

Hopefully by the time I'm off next week it'll be mostly done so I can start nesting in earnest!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/02/2011 10:39

Don't worry Cycle, it will all come together and everything will be ready before the baby comes Smile

Had a HORRENDOUS night with ds on Friday night (didn't know it at the time, but he's now developed a cold/sore throat). Probably one of the worst since he was a newborn. Of course that lead me to think 'what the hell are we doing'. We could have nights like this him AND a newborn .

As well as the nudges in the fanny this weekend it has extended to nudges up the arse as well. I forgot about those - delightful!

The gym ball was blown up on Friday and I forgt how bloody comfortable they are. If anyone is a bit undecided about them and they can afford one - buy one. They are like heaven after sitting on a sofa or office chair. They enable you to stretch all the muscles in your body (legs, sides of torso etc) that seem to stiffen up after waddling about all day, they also give relief to the lower back and coccyx. I'm not a rep for them - honest!!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! We're out for lunch today with all of my side of the family. My dh is 40 and my mum is 60 on the same day next week and we've organised a surprise lunch for them. No doubt I will do the whole 3 courses then roll round in agony later on

Petalouda · 27/02/2011 11:09

Ooh, ILTMITMI I busted out the ball last night (post-hoover, which is now THE most painful task). In combination with one of those microwavable wheat bag things on my back, it was amazing!

Sitting on it, kneeling on the floor and lying over it (it's almost like lying on your front!). Heaven!

I might even bring it behind the table to sit on while I plan (yes, plan, not just fanny around on here!).

Cyclebump · 27/02/2011 12:32

I too am a gym ball fan. It helps massively with the bad SPD pain I've been getting, stretches my back out and gets baby in more comfy positions if he's wedged somewhere painful. They're FAB.

I'm sure kitchen will get done, it's just so overwhelming. Just got all teary talking to the bump about it Blush I was pointing out that DP must love baby very much to be working so hard and nearly burst into tears!

Anyone else regularly taking to the bump? My biggest problem is trying nit to do it in public...

lucielooo · 27/02/2011 13:12

yep me too cyclebump we were taking pictures of me and DP decorating the nursery yesterday so we can show the baby when he's older Hmm Blush I'm not sure how interested he'll be but it's nice (if a bit sad/indulgent) including the baby in things even though he's totally and utterly oblivious! I hope I return to my normal self after the birth though!

lucielooo · 27/02/2011 13:34

Frakk - whats your breastfeeding cake thread called please I can't find it!

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 27/02/2011 14:11

here

I love the flapjacks but the quantity is huge!

And now I have condensed milk to use up so I'm considering millionaire's shortbread. I don't bake. Is this nesting?

LisMcA · 27/02/2011 14:21

I talk to the bump, and regularly end up in tears. Gsve him a guided tour of the nursery this week and ended up blubbing for 10 minutes, proper heart wrenching sobs. I've no idea why!!

Gym ball fan here too, it's so good for my SPD when I just need to stretch everything out! And my ball was a bargain from Sports Direct at £4.50.

Sleeping question - I know optimum position is on you left side because of less organs there etc, however, I can only fall asleep on my right, and eithe wake up on my back or in a funny front lying position where I somehow manage to not lie on my bump but my shoulders and flat on the bed. Should I be trying to sleep any other way at this point or just be grateful that I can get to sleep at all regardless of position?

Mum and dad have just left :(. Mum brought a holdall of things she's bought for the baby :o and some nursing vests for me! I have loads to wash now! Will get cracking on that next week! Hopefully the weather holds so I can hang it out on the line! If not, well I'll survive!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/02/2011 14:50

Lis - just sleep. Grin I find my right side more comfortable, partly because that faces the edge of the bed so I can reach water/gaviscon etc more easily!!

I really want to do some baking and cooking to put in the freezer, but our extra freezer has just died and we need to buy a new one so I can't do anything yet. My Mum is going to be around a lot for a first month so she will deal with most of the cooking etc when DH can't, so it isn't desperate!

BeetleBaby · 27/02/2011 15:57

I talk to Little Insect all the time, I've done the tour round the baby's room thing as well Lis and as for in public, it's not the first time won't be the last time I've been caught out talking to myself, I just have an excuse to do so right now! Grin

Cycle just keep thinking of the lovely, shiney, new kitchen you're going to have!

I love my gym ball (am on it now!) it's usually the only place I can get comfy (I've even managed to fall asleep leaning over it Blush ). Best £5 I've spent all pregnancy! Though DH is also rather fond of it, apparently it's a good height to use as a foot rest...

Cyclebump · 27/02/2011 16:07

Oooh! Worktops nearly all in!

But DP has announced we have no washing machine for two more days at least Hmm I only have one pair of maternity jeans (ripped other pair) and barely any pants. MIL just took me to Tesco to buy pants and socks. Sigh.

Oh well, am now perving at the Scottish and Irish rugby players to take my mind off it, phwoar!

Karoleann · 27/02/2011 18:02

Congrats Jo, hope everything is going well.
I'd completely forgotten about the ball! Must get mine out.
We've had a fairly quiet (as you can with 4 and 2 year old boys) weekend.
My poor little bump just gets ignored and occasionally prodded if she tried to turn.
Have a good week all

kitstwins · 27/02/2011 18:29

ADVICE PLEASE. Baby has been very quiet all day today - two very faint movements in the morning but nothing since, even though I've done the usual stuff to encourage it to move (sat still/rested, drank a cold drink, eaten some chocolate, etc.). Should I call the midwife or leave it until tomorrow? Thought about giving it until 8/9pm this evening to see if it moves.

Have just eaten a packet of Starburst (blurgh - hate sweets) to see if that helps and so far nothing. Maybe it's just moved to face the back and so is kicking inwards rather than outwards. Or maybe it's just knackered and having a rest.

Never had this with the girls - one of them was always thrashing about so I had almost constant movement.

What would you all do?

LisMcA · 27/02/2011 18:37

Call you midwife Kitstwins. I've always been told to call if I'm worried about something. They woudl rather see you and nothing be wrong than you leave it. IYKWIM

CountScoutula · 27/02/2011 18:44

Hi, Kitstwins

My babe frequently has me worried, so my midwife has always seen me to listen to the heartbeat. She (my lovely midwife Mary) sent me off to the hospital a couple of weeks ago for CTG monitoring; everything was fine, "textbook reading" apparently! The hospital midwives were lovely and said they'd rather have worried women hooked up to the monitor for 20 mins than panicking at home. So, my advice is to phone the delivery suite. I'm sure all will be well.

Petalouda · 27/02/2011 18:55

Afternoon All,

Glad to hear your kitchen is coming along, Cycle, although it must be horrible to have it happening right now.

Love hearing about people talking to their bumps! I do it occasionally, but I'm not that vocal, if I'm honest.

Kit ring the midwife, CountScoutula's right! Although I had a quiet day the other day, and he's barely sat still since (if that reassures you!).

My dad came down today, felt a bit bad, since I'm not great company at the moment (no food in the house, can't go out far, DH in work, no transport so no idea what's around our new house!), but he was great. Brought the reusable nappies down from him & my mum! And my birthday present! Which I've cheekily opened early!

Back on the ball this evening to carry on planning/marking. I can't believe how little I've got done this week! What have I been doing with my time?

Daisy17 · 27/02/2011 19:33

Gosh, only away for weekend and loads of chat! Too tired for much but wanted to say Anusol and Germoloids are both very effective treatments for piles (have also suffered prepregnancy)and both are perfectly fine to use in pregnancy according to the blurb. Grin

JustKeepSwimming · 27/02/2011 20:07

Kits - def ring, that's what they're there for :)

Daisy - thanks :) The pharmacist wouldn't give me anything without doc's approval, will have to get an appt during the week.
Though (TMI warning) i have followed advice from friends/MN & 'pushed' them back in and I'm not in any pain right now.

Have had a dodgy tummy today and lots of indigestion, not helpful.
Have been glugging the Gaviscon after months off, hoping it's actually a form of the bug DS2 had during the week which went quickly rather than the beginning of 2 months of discomfort.

Oh the joys of pg, said to DH earlier that I don't feel sexy right now, and he said 'why?' Hmm duh...where shall i start?!!?!

kitstwins · 27/02/2011 20:13

Hello. Thanks for this. I normally would ring but if I'm brutally honest I'm wary of going to hospital. With the girls I ended up there all the time being heavily monitored and I don't want to go down that route. I'm just frightened of going and being monitored as I'm trying to stay under the parapet. Another instance of how my previous birth really has a lot to answer for/casts a long shadow.

There has been a little bit of movement (thanks to the Starbursts I think). I'm going to give it until 10pm and sit very quietly on the sofa and if there isn't some good movement between now and then I'll call up and head along.

LisaMcA I think if you can try and go off to sleep on your left side then that's great but it's unrealistic to assume that you'll lie prone in this position all night. Your body will end up where it ends up. I just flip onto my left side whenever I wake up (for the numerous nocturnal loo trips).

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/02/2011 20:29

Kitstwins - ice cold full fat coke, then after 5-10 minutes sort of lay on your tummy so you put pressure on your bump to wake the baby up. Also a good scratch of the bump and jiggling it about can help. If not, phone the hospital - it is what they are there for.

I know what you mean about wanting to fly under the hospital radar, but honestly giving them a call won't change how this birth is going to go xxx

Glad you managed to pop them back in JKS Smile

Had a lovely lunch with the family and managed to stick to two courses - however I still felt stuffed after that and had to sit a certain way to get comfortable after the meal Blush

kitstwins · 27/02/2011 20:34

Iliketomove will try full fat coke/tummy experiment. Have never drunk a full fat coke before so this is a whole new world. I'll be pinging off the walls at 3am no doubt but what the hell. Will try anything and it can't be any worse than the revolting paintstripper lucozade GTT a few weeks ago.

Husband been sent to buy a full fat coke. It's raining so he's the archetypal 'put-upon-husband-of-annoying-pregnant-wife'.

Will let you know what happens with fizzy drink experiment.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/02/2011 20:41

kits - have you tried rubbing your bump where you can feel bum/foot etc? I find that often provokes a reaction! In fact you posting this made me realise that I hadn't felt much today apart from the odd sleepy wriggle, so I just gave the baby's bottom and back a good rub and now it is kicking away like mad.

Cycle - it sounds a nightmare, but at least you are getting it done before the baby arrives! We had a new kitchen put in when DS was 5 weeks old, and I decamped to my parents for a week with DS and left DH to supervise. When he came to take me home (I couldn't drive because of slow-healing c-section) he had already cleaned everywhere and put everything back in the cupboards, bless him Grin

kitstwins · 27/02/2011 21:13

Wheeeeeeeee! Well. Full fat coke is interesting. I'm buzzing, baby is hiccuping and kicking so all is well. Thanks all. Big relief! I'd like to say I can sleep easily tonight but I suspect I'll be boinging around the house.

LisMcA · 27/02/2011 21:20

Lol at your full fat Coke high Kitstwins!!

Try having some hot milk before bed to take the edge off!
