Executive decision that at 987 posts we're moving over!

New challenge - can we fill up 1000 posts before the first babies arrive, given that we managed to keep our legs crossed all through the last one?!

First babies are due, officially, next month but are there any in such a hurry to see the world that they can beat our chatting?

Oooh, Ali I didn't realise your section was so soon! That's so exciting, baby baby baby!!!!!!!

Arch I've given up on nesting and am suppressing the instinct. SPD, exhaustion and the ongoing kitchen saga mean it's just pointless.

Yawn! Am SO tired, mum might come with me for haircut to discuss hair for my sister's wedding (Louis cuts all our hair) so I can always go for a nice coffee with her.

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 22/03/2011 08:31

How is the kitchen, cycle? Or is it best not to ask?

Yeah I know. Shitting myself to be entirely honest. When I had the EMCS with DS I had been in labour for 24+ hours and had all the drugs under the sun so it was just a blessed relief and I didn't have time to worry about the actual surgery.
Really not sure how I feel about going into it sober Hmm
Having said that, I am rapidly going off the idea of VBACing too. My SPD is getting so bad that I can't see myself being able to support myself on my knees in labour, and on my back isn't appealing for a host of reasons - including that I don't know how far apart I will be able to get my knees!

Argh.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/03/2011 08:38

I much prefer abstract and bizarre titles than chi-chi ones Smile

I can't believe this time next week you WILL have your baby Ali, God I'm Envy

DS has started talking about helping me with the baby . Can you tell it doesn't take much to make me emotional?!

I don't enjoy the births on OBEM much either, they are all so medicalised. BUT, when you see those newborns rooting, OMG, it sets me off everytime.

While ds is at pre school this morning I am going to be tackling washing the baby's bedding and moses basket lining. Rock and roll!!

A MW appointment here today, I think it's my 34 week one - but I can't remember my gestation Blush

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/03/2011 08:41

Also meant to say that I was reading an article on your island yesterday frakk. The pictures of the landscape were stunning, not so sure about the volcano though Shock

I think you need a pat on the back for living with the humidity. Dry heat is ok, but humidity is energy zapping. Do you ever get used to it?

Cyclebump · 22/03/2011 08:48

Dunno if it helps Ali, but...

My mum had an EMCS with my older sister, was allowed to labour with me but ended up with another CS after six hours, then she had an ELCS with my younger sister.

She said the ELCS, although a bit reminiscent of a dental appointment, was fine. She said it was super calm, dad was able to be there the whole time and although it was a bit weird she maintains that it was a wonderful experience and she had no problems bfing and recovered quickly.

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 22/03/2011 08:49

ILTMI you win with pregnancy brain!

Volcano is not the blow-your-top explosive type, nor does it spew bast amounts of ash, it just sort of sicks up lava occasionally - thankfully in the opposite direction to where we live.

Nope, you never really get used to the humidity but you do learn to work around it. Thankfully it's not constant - as in we do get a few months a year off - but when it's the rainy season but it doesn't rain and it's hot then life gets pretty unbearable for everyone.

It's so lovely to hear about siblings being excited about the babies! I remember being most unimpressed when my mother told me I was going to be displaced. I resented my sister for years Grin and then my brother came along and I decided that he was even worse because everyone made such fuss of the boy.

Ali I'm sure whichever way it happens it will happen in the best way and you're in good hands. Just look forward to the fact that in a week you can start "April 2011 - kicking back with lactulose cocktails, plastic jugs and riding the maternity surf boards" unless you get beaten to it Grin

Hi all, no word of a lie, I had yesterday off work and have spent and hour and 22 minutes catching up on April beauties since arriving here this morning and have shot dirty evils at anyone distracting me from this task!

Lis so sorry about your Nan, it's so very sad but I love the atrixo and Nivea story, my nan is the exact same, she's 90 but goes nowhere without a set, rinse and her max factor face powder on, aw.

Not another hope all goes well at the scan, I want a bloody scan.

Frakk you are the queen of thread names! and re Sibs, my sister used to regularly bite me when I was born until my ma finally snapped and bit her back....

I myself went to the BF workshop at local hospital on Saturday which was nice. The worst thing was sitting on my poor old ass for 3 hours straight but it was good and I feel like I learned some stuff. The first hour was all about the benefits of BF which was annoying, I know WHY I want to do it, the whole point of going was to help with with how I thought. Anyway, no knitted boobies in sight, a lovely silicon number and a padded material one used to demonstrate what causes an inverted nipple....Also, there were great biscuits - I had 6!!

There was also a poor poor lady with a 7 day old cutie there to give us a demonstration, she cheerfully informed us that she had had an hour and a half sleep the night before and then couldn't do the demonstration because little Oscar was having none of it and wouldn't latch on, instead did two really squelchy poos one after the other. she wasn't the greates advert, bless her.

I myself am wondering about whether a solution to aching lady (the outside of her you understand) would be some of that deep freeze stuff, was it MRSW with the deep heat and the splits? I had such a rubbish night again with lady ache and hips that am seriously wondering if I can cope with another two weeks at work....

Arch I too have that list, and I generally have a little weep when I talk to him about it too, which really freaks him out!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/03/2011 11:11

Sarah - does it help if I tell you that the lady with the 7-day old sounds like the most fabulously realistic example! Grin I'm glad she was cheerful about it though, cheerfulness is good with a newborn!

SarahJinx · 22/03/2011 11:16

ali I did fear as much!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/03/2011 11:18
Grin
SarahJinx · 22/03/2011 11:30

the amusement really came from the fact that the MWs were trying so hard to be all pro BF (needlessly) and their main tactic was this poor lady - so if anyone had come along to be sold into the benefits of BF then it all fell a little bit short! Oh, she also happily announced that she has to used nipple shields due to having inverted nipples, AFTER the MW had told us how irrelevant nipple size/shape is.....

That little chap was super cute though

chillikat · 22/03/2011 11:33

Morning all, just finishing off the RLT and eating fig rolls to take the taste away, whilst telling myself the fig content will be good for my digestive system :)
I've avoided OBEM after not sleeping after watching it a month or so ago!
I accidentally missed my midwife appointment last week - the date was right but it was written as 38 weeks, which would be this week - no wonder I was confused. Have a GP appointment this week instead but he does tend to guess my measurement rather than actually measure!
Sarah the biscuits were the best bit of the breastfeeding workshop we attended. Most of the content had been covered in our antenatal classes and the woman leading it was patronising toward the dads to be which wasn't good.

MrsWajs · 22/03/2011 11:41

Nope wasn't me with the deep heat and the splits SJ not sure who it was. Although i would like to steal a little bit of credit for the thread titles!!

Also could i make a special request that we are eating coc pops whilst bouncing on our yoda balls for the next one!!? :)

BeetleBaby · 22/03/2011 11:42

Sarah I'd actually find it quite reassuring to know that it is possible to stay cheerful despite things not working perfectly when baby doesn't cooperate!

I can't remember how I reacted when DSis 1 & 2 were born but remember very clearly being annoyed that DSis 3 was a girl not a boy! I mean, I'd asked Santa and everything! Apparently (after the 6am 'It's a(nother) girl' call) I muttered "Another bloomin' sister, I wanted a brother..." and went back to bed!

I'm very Envy of people getting hair cuts and beautification! I really want my hair chopped before Little Insect arrives but have to wait until payday which may be a little too close to due date! And I'm not brave enough to face waxing, might see if I can still reach to epilate my legs...

Frakk I second your crowning as 'Queen of Thread Names'!

Suppose I should get my arse in gear and get something done today, MW at 4pm so I might have a toddle round town before hand if my pelvis and hips feel up to it.

SarahJinx · 22/03/2011 11:48

Ok so it was Kit and if it's ok to put Deep Heat on pubic bone, surely same applies to Deep Freeze...? I'm getting some. Today.

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 22/03/2011 12:52

Indeed this thread title and the postnatal one is courtesy of MrsWajs and not me, we just had to cut it in two and modify a bit because MN impose a limit on thread title length.

Speaking of which it's probably time to move....

Lis sorry to hear about your Grandma, hugs sent your way.

Ali How exciting, very very jealous, baby time !

Just spent a couple of hours catching up on MN as hadnt been on since Friday, woh what a lot of posts!

Well exactly 37 weeks todays and birth centre assesment Wednesday, dont know what they do to see if im low risk but hoping it might involve a scan (Wishful thinking I think)

Have been ticking bit off my lists of "To Do" or "To Buy" and then keep adding new things i think of which now include, brazilian, leg, under arm and eyebrow wax, plus hair cut, wash & blowdry and manicure/pedicure for the weekend before im due. Is that to late ?

How many outfits & nappies is everyone packing to take to hospital, is 6 sleepsuits and 15 nappies enough ?

Good week all

OP posts:
SnapFrakkleAndPop · 22/03/2011 13:01

Aussie I suspect that rather depends on how long you're likely to stay in whether 15 nappies will be enough!

OP posts:
NotAnotherNewNappy · 22/03/2011 19:13

So sorry but I really need an energency moan....

Had scan today - AFI (amniotic fluid index) has shot up from 24 to 36
!! I don't really know what that means, except I have half as much fluid again as I had two weeks ago, and that was already too much Shock MW measured bump at 45cm at 37+4!! All signs are that everyrhing is fine with baby, but of course I can't stop worrying that something is wrong.

I'm seeing Obs on friday, MW says she will probably offer to induce me. In the meantime I am just a huge stretchmarky freak who is growing bigger by the minute. It's so frustrating to have absolutely no control over my own body. DH and even went to our lucky mexican restaurant for lunch (i.e. Where I ate my last meal before DD1) in an effort to kick things off. I ordered exactly the same meal and I ate loads of jalepenos but still nothing Angry

Oh, and after boasting about my nice hair yesterday... I put some fish fingers under the grill for DD, took a bit too long to light the gas, and singed my fringe and the front layers of my new bob [mummy at the end of her tether emoticon]

PS On OBEM, surely she must have had a phobia of the dentist?

hippy3 · 24/03/2011 16:07

petalouda got your message on the other thread.... AM Still pregnant with twins at 34 plus 5 days.....and cannot believe it. I havent been on here for an age so apologies..... have been on the twin antenatal thread, and have moved house, and have been generally a bit all over the place.....! am the size of a small....LARGE house, and am waiting for them to arrive any day now. My consultant cannot believe I have carried the two of them for this long, as twins are very often premature.... which they will be if they come now but stand a really good chance.... am just waiting every day for them to arrive and honestly am a bit BORED on maternity leave....... Everything is set up and my bag has been packed for weeks juts incase and it is literally a case of just waiting now.

I will take some time to read through this thread but it seems you ladies have been very active over the last few months !!!! cant believe its nearly time to go.... I will be induced if they arent here before around the 11th, as that is as long as they will let me go with ID twins.... so my EDD is now 11/4....really not very long !

cant wait...bring it on I say...am looking forward to the labour and birth..... Smile

JustKeepSwimming · 26/03/2011 09:06

Hi Hippy glad to hear you are still pg, and all is well.

We have moved to here if you get a chance to come back on before the twins arrive :)
