Me too rocket it is super bright here this morning, I have been up for hours. I am enjoying the novelty of the peace and quiet as well as the sunshine, it feels like spring here for the first time.

Our middle name for a girl will be Eirlys after both our grandmothers. It sounds similar to Iris but actually means snowdrop ( one for the fact fans there). Still completely undecided on anything else, but you have 42 post natal days to make your mind up of the worst comes to the worst!

Congratulations score on the arrival of the lad's second cousin Smile

how the twinges medee?

morning everyone else!

rocketleaf · 13/03/2011 10:24

Lovely name bitey

milanomum · 13/03/2011 10:55

I can't sleep past 7 am these days either Confused

Scorps Glad it all went well at the class and that TYF has commented on how important they are - he doesn't really have to talk to anyone does he? I love that you got in a comment on fanjo veins Grin Congrats on the new arrival to the family too!

Cass How are you feeling this morning? what about one of <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.it/imgres?imgurl=2.bp.blogspot.com/_MXIsdPeY9w0/TIcxlU233CI/AAAAAAAAAT8/Sogi2Dsn9Os/s1600/bedpan.jpg&imgrefurl=visfinger.blogspot.com/2010/09/anyone-for-some-pissky.html&usg=__h5kjacVMYCgX6nANO_TwzhH6CP4=&h=517&w=650&sz=26&hl=it&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=DgA2_gtihgq0lM:&tbnh=150&tbnw=180&ei=lqJ8Tfq5J8et8gO_l_G3BA&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbedpan%26hl%3Dit%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D608%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=199&oei=lqJ8Tfq5J8et8gO_l_G3BA&page=1&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0&tx=80&ty=56" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">these?

LGG I love all these names taken from special people - it will be so nice to tell the children why they are called what they are called one day too. We didn't do a middle name for Thechild because it doesn't exist in Italy as a purely decorative name. It becomes a kind of double-barrelled first name which needs to be used in any official signatures or school, or anything like that so it becomes a bit too 'weighty' if you see what I mean.

As for clothes, maybe we could all share any ESH-tastic links? You can tell it's pissing down here and I have nothing to do, can't you?

milanomum · 13/03/2011 10:56

Bitey - lovely name!

rocketleaf · 13/03/2011 11:24

Well I have sacked off the carboot sale I was going to do today because it was pissing it down this morning and now the suns out, harrumph. Still bloody freezing out there tho and lets face it I am too lazy. Going to Ebay the decent stuff and charity shop the rest. It'll probably net me the same for less effort

milano links I like:

Jojomamanbebe courtesy of Medee originally I think, still dithering over the stripey sleep suits as although they are very cute, I think they are fairly expensive at 2 for £25

Scorpette · 13/03/2011 12:02

LOVE Eirlys, Bitey. S'Welsh, innit? I love Welsh names, being a bit Taffy myself, but TYF wasn't keen. I really like Angharad for a girl and boys' names like Euros and Idris.

Our chosen first name means 'Gift from God', which gives us no end of ironic Atheist chuckles Grin

Good plan sacking off the carboot, Rocket. Drizzly March mornings are so bleeeeh. Love the name too, if I've worked it out right.

I must tell you about the funniest thing that happened at the class yesterday. The lady separated us into menz and wimminz and gave both groups a bag full of stuff you'll probably need in a labour bag and we had to work out and discuss what they were and what their function was. Then we went back into one group and had to show 'n' tell. The geezer-men were doing all the talking for the menz. When they got to describe a v small tupperware pot, they said they thought it was for bringing the umbilical cord and placenta home in!!! I'm afraid that I burst out laughing and said, 'you think a placenta could fit in THAT?!?!?!' (cue more dead-eyes from them - I'm Little Miss Popularity already, huh?!). I couldn't help it, it was so bonkers. The tutor then said it represented taking some food in, which made TYF and a few other men exchange meaningful looks.

When I asked him about it afterwards, he said that he and some other men had suggested it was for food, but the geezer-men had basically gone 'DURR! It's too small!', like the others were thickos and when TYF said 'I think it's just representational, not actual size', they mocked him and continued working out odd uses for it.

I love it when people ignore the bleedin' obvious and find convoluted explanations for things but I feel sorry for their ladies! BTW, one of the men did also ask what you brought the umbilical cord and placenta in and seemed surprised the hossie gets rid of them for you. WTF?! And no, his surname was not Fearnley-Whittingstall Wink

Scorpette · 13/03/2011 12:06

Oh dear, I think that might be a 'you have to have been there' anecdote Blush

rocketleaf · 13/03/2011 12:29

No thats really funny. I wish you had asked them what they were planning on doing with the cord and placenta when they got it home? Ritual burial in the back garden or just pop it in the freezer?

Sun is out now and Ebaying is tedious!! Although it is a damn sight easier that it used to be, no HTML fecking about anyway.

Medee · 13/03/2011 14:51

glad the NCT class went fairly well, Scorps, though sounds like it may be a while for the "bonding" to kick in!

Theoretically, I am meeting my NCT ladies tomorrow afternoon, minus the one who has popped already. No signs from me, but the spicy pizza last night did have a clearing effect!

My very close friend who was due last Wednesday had her baby yesterday morning - a wee girl - so perhaps if she has my due date, I'll take her induction date of next Wednesday!

Scorpette · 13/03/2011 17:58

Good swapping plan, Medee :) Keep up the spicy food-fest!

We do really like a couple of the, erm, couples on the course already and everyone is actually really nice, even the geezer-men (well, there's one non-geezer-man who is irritating, but there's always one). They probably think we're poncy indie brainbox types, so each to their own.

milanomum · 13/03/2011 18:10

medee that sounds like a plan - hope it works out!

no spicy food tonight, but did have cauliflower cheese with our roast chicken, so might not be popular with the midwives if I did go into labour tonight!

owlbooty · 13/03/2011 19:33

Mr T Tshirt! Genius Grin

The Boden stuff is gorgeous as is the stuff on Loveitx3. Why is it all so expensive? Why???

Eirlys is gorgeous name, Bites - Mr Boots doesn't know this yet but if Owlet does turn out to be of the pink flava she's going to have Joyce as a middle name whether he likes it or not. Unfortunately my family names are all either far too common e.g. Jack or far too old-lady.

Scorps glad TYF survived the class - it gives me hope for all the BESHchaps who aren't good at that sort of thing (mine included).

Medee · 13/03/2011 19:35

oh yes, I did buy pineapple at Sainsbury's this afternoon.

Medee · 13/03/2011 20:19

ooh, having just been looking at scrunchy photos of my friend's newborn - is it weird to be broody when your own is just around the corner?!

OP posts:
HighPriestessBoo · 13/03/2011 20:52

Rocket Is it my name? Wink Grin

Bitey That name is just beautiful.

Scorps I love the NCT class placenta story. My friend kept her placenta from her first home birth. She had originally planned to eat it, but couldn't bring herself to. They had a small fridge in her cellar so they kept it in that to keep it away from their food (she's vegetarian :o) . When they moved house they forgot about it, so she sent her husband back to fetch it as she had decided to plant a tree and bury it under it. He was really worried that they would have already found it, and would think they were serial killers or something. I don't know what he said when he went back, but I know he felt incredibly dodgy Grin.

Scorpette · 13/03/2011 21:42

Completely normal, Medee. I go super-melty just looking at all the pics of the FESH offspring on FB.

Boo, I wish someone could've filmed your mate's DH explaining that he needed to get a placenta from his old freezer Confused Priceless!

Milano, great taste in baby togs. One of our RL nicknames for The Lad is actually Mr T, so I really should get him that Mr T tee! I could buy EVERYTHING for baybees from Boden... if I was made of money Sad

We did over 3 hours of decluttering and housework this avo (okay, mainly TYF) but the flat still looks basically the same but cleaner. How does that work?!

Ivegotmrbitey · 14/03/2011 10:40

Not at all meds I am fidning it very hard to not to visit my friend and her new born every day!

Am off to have a lok at all these shops now, I did crack at the weekend and bought a newborn essentials kit in the M&S sale. We were cooing over how tiny they were and then I rested a baby grow on my tummy and realised that it may be tiny but it's still huge and felt a bit faint!

PollyPoo · 14/03/2011 10:51

Hello all. Soz for radio silence. Feeling much better - more like my old self now so tablets definitely working.

Just thought I'd pop in to see how everyone is doing. Glad to hear NCT went well Scropes. And Meds - I m watching you.... And Cass for that matter.

BItey, love that name. BB's name is also that of a small bird. Found out last week that the latin name for the bird is Troglodytes Troglodytes. Hmm TG is very upset about this and says he wouldn't have named her that if he'd known. I just sniggered a lot and praised Alan that we gave her a very traditional middle name (elizabeth) so she can use that if she prefers. Grin

Nipple twists to Meds and flaming sambucas with bacon and brie sarnies for everyone else.

Ivegotmrbitey · 14/03/2011 10:51

Those clothes are absolutely gorgeous! Am tickled pink by the idea of seeing a baybee in a Mr T Tishirt and wondering which of the ESH is his/ her mummy!

The FDH and I are thinking about finding out the flavour tomorrow at the twenty week scan. I really want a surprise but am also desperate to know! It would still be a surprise to find out tomorrow wouldn't it???

It's owlie's 20 wk scan today isn't it? Hope you are having a lovely time watching a wriggling owlet!

Placenta story is just bizarre scorps, but an insight into the minds of geezer men. When I look at a tupperware pot, the last thing on my mind would be placenta and not just because I am obsessed with knowing where my next snack is

HighPriestessBoo · 14/03/2011 10:52

Elizabeth is, of course, one of the best names anyone could give a child :o

HighPriestessBoo · 14/03/2011 10:53

Bitey We found out the secha at 20 weeks. I don't regret it. 'Twas ace.

PollyPoo · 14/03/2011 11:01

Bitey I think giving birth to a RL ackshul baybee is a very surprising event anyway, regardless of whether you know the sex!

Boo I quite agree - it is my mum's name too. [wink[

LadyGoneGaga · 14/03/2011 11:02

On other hand, Bitey I loved finding out the sex at the birth! Kept me going through last dificult hours. Enjoy the scan whatever you decide to do.

Am miffed. Got on scales today. BIG mistake. Total gained so far - over 2 stone. Fuxache. I don't even think the baybee is big according to scan. Just my arse then. Only 21 weeks.

I love that name, Bitey - is quite like the name we are giving our girl (if it is a girl) only not welsh version.

Hellooo Pol - meant to say, thanks for sending the birfing ball. Back from hols hence not replying to you to say thnaks sooner. Glad you're feeling better. And like anyone is going to know about the latin name for that particular bird FFS. They would have to be a highly educated bully and very keen on ornithology - not normally a combo you associate.

Good luck with scan, Owlster.

owlbooty · 14/03/2011 11:03

Tis not til 3pm - in all honesty I am absolutely crapping myself with fear and wishing I had worn the brown trousers today.

Tupperware pot = fruit and nut snack container - or, god forbid, Gillian McKeith.

Owlet is currently theoretically called Robin, at least, that seems to be Mr Boot's plan and I quite like it so that is okay. Small birds are obviously tres chic at the moment :) If he turns out to be a she I am thinking Rosalyn.

4 hours to go. Gah.
