PS. Pols I think blackbirds are called Turdus something so could be much, much worse Grin

LadyGG I am convinced your scales must be wrong. I do not believe for a minute your arse weighs 2 stone more than usual.

HighPriestessBoo · 14/03/2011 11:09

Polly Btw I used to be into birds and trees and nature and stuff as a child (still am), I remember being tres amused about troglodytes troglodytes, what a luffly luffly name you chose.

LadyGoneGaga · 14/03/2011 11:15

Fanks Owlie...20 week scans are a bit scary I think. But hope everything fine for you. Don't overdo the water, you don't need a full bladder for 20 weeks and at 3pm you might have to wait around for a bit. I like both your potential names too.

Sadly the scales are right. Boobs are big, bump is big, arse is big, thighs are big. I'm like one of those clay stone age fertility statues. Can no longer bend over properly. Can't see to do bikini line. Is all ace and lovely and my baybee but I was freaking huge by the end last time and could end up bigger if this carries on!!! Scorps perhaps this is the Derbyshire mode of doing pregnant?

Differs yoga tonight, shall be zen about everything.

Ivegotmrbitey · 14/03/2011 11:17

laGG Put the scales in the attic!

I am not stepping back on my scales until my pre diffment jeans fit me again. I do not want to know!

Don't be scared owlie, with the amount of dancing that owlet has been doing the only problem will be getting him or her to keep still long enough to have a good look Smile. Easy for me to say - I have a midwife appointment at lunchtime and should be getting the doppler for the first time. Am also shitting myself but just concentrating on happy I am going to feel when all is well.

That is the foot dragging husband's argument pol, and you are both quite right, it will be be very surprising! But lady's point also good and I think will be motivating on the day. Oh, I don't know! I might have to see how I feel at the scan!

owlbooty · 14/03/2011 11:29

Ooooh the doppler thingy is so luffly. I actually preferred it to the scans. Do not fret if it takes her a while to find it, Bites , it seems to depend massively on whether the baybee is buggering about in one's pelvis or not. Plus having doppler today should mean nice calmer scan tomorrow?

GG I have differs pilates tonight. There will be a cloud of zen calmness over the Deli :) Perhaps we could do a buttock exchange? I am worried I have not put on enough still (this is not something I normally ever have difficulty doing).

Orchid12 · 14/03/2011 11:32

Bitey - one of my closest friends told me when I having mini O that she liked not knowing as it gave her something to work for in labour. I liked her way of thinking and we didn't find out. I can't say I thought much/at all about what sex the baby was when I actually went in labour but it was nice to find out at the end of it all. This time, I have to cheekily admit that we had a private scan done a week or so ago and we do now know what this one is. They couldn't find out at the 20 week scan as baby was very shy, and Mr O was very happy to not know. It was bugging me though and I managed to persuade him that it would give me something nice to think about for the remainder of this PG. We haven't told anyone that we know what sex it is as I don't want people reading into everything that I say, but it's nice to have it as out little secret. My mum made several comments over the weekend about which sex she wanted the baby to be and it made me laugh each time as she's not getting the flava she wants!!

Booty good luck for the scan. The 20 week scan is lovely as you get to see so much of the little tyke.

LGG worry not about the weight! I can't believe you got back to a size 10 after PG in the first place so you clearly have good genes Smile

Scorps where are you meeting these NCT people? I am Confused at the thought of taking pot to the hozzie to being the placenta home in!! I wanted to have a look at mine, but was never keen to stick it in tupperware!

rocketleaf · 14/03/2011 11:49

Weirdly, was just reading the bit about what people do with the placenta in my birthing book. And a lot of people do take it home and bury it under a tree or whatever. I thought it was strange until you think about it as the connective organ between you and your baby, the thing that has been keeping your baby alive for 9 months and hence a very important part of you both. When you think of it like that then it does seem a little clinical (or ungrateful?) just to stick it in the incinerator at the hospital. (wooooooo!)

pol lovely to see you lady. and very glad you are feeling your old self again! yey for happy pills :o had to chortle at troglydytes but as has been mentioned not sure a keen interest in ornithology and a tendency to bully would go hand in hand.

owlie good luck for the scan, I LOVED the 20 week one but of course its a little nerve racking before hand. But its really nice if you get a chatty sonographer who explains everything. If not, don't be afraid to ask whats going on as you won't get another chance!

Hope you enjoy the doppler bitey and like owlshoes says it can take a while to find it when they are still small so stay calm. Think lozzers has MW appointment today too so hope is going well also.

Sun is out, I think a walk round the park is in order. (when i really should be ebaying more stuff)

Muser · 14/03/2011 11:51

Scorps, next week at NCT you have to ask about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotus_birth lotus birthing. I'd love to see what the geezers make of it.

Muser · 14/03/2011 11:52

Damn, link fail.

LadyGoneGaga · 14/03/2011 12:10

Yuck, Muse - that's a bit too woo even for me!

Scorpette · 14/03/2011 12:14

Bitey, everyone has their own opinion on flavour-finding-out and each one is valid. When we said we were going to find out, a lot of people said 'but you won't have a surprise when the baby is born!' to which we answered exactly what Pol says - having an actual baybee will be pretty bloody surprising in itself! Mind you, as you know, we didn't have a choice - ours was desperate to flaunt his goodies as soon as the gel hit my bump! Grin

Finding out was still a surprise for us and knowing has helped us really bond with The Lad because we chose his name and already think of him as a 'real' person (iykwim), etc., but that doesn't mean we're any more bonded or prepared than couples who don't know; it's just what worked for us :)

Lovely to see you, Poostink and so glad you're continuing to feel better. BB's name is gorgeous and no-one EVER is going to think 'oooh, Troglodyte!' - unless you bump into Bill Oddie, perhaps! It makes me think of a lovely, brave little bird.

We're going the other route - fairly 'normal' name, more eccentric middle name. But not as bad as elder BIL, whose middle name is Marmaduke!

Good luck, Booty! Love your names - but couldn't Robin be for a girl too? 'Tis unisex. But love Rosalyn too. We quite liked Rosamund (though not no. 1 name) for a girl, but we have so many Rs in both our surnames that we've had to avoid names with Rs in. I think it would have practically ensured that the poor child would have a Jonathan Ross-esque speech impediment.

GG, as Derbyshire lasses, we are clearly goddesses. Unfortunately, when pg that seems to mean Venus of Willendorf Sad However, I refuse to imagine you as anything but stunning, so NAH.

Muser, 'innocent' questions about Lotus birthing are an excellent idea! I welcome all suggestions from all evil ESH for subtly asking about stuff that will embarrass people Grin Grin We're talking about labour positions this Sat., so will defo be working in questions about shitting yourself in labour, etc., buahaha.

rocketleaf · 14/03/2011 12:22

We like Robyn for a girl too. But its not number one on the list as yet. I like natural names, and R names. I like Rowanne too but TBs not too keen so that probably out too.

Gah, just got my MA1 back in the post. it would seem I filled it out wrong despite repeated rereading of the accompanying leaflet. I wonder if they make it needlessly complex just to avoid paying out. Hmm

LadyGoneGaga · 14/03/2011 12:23

Scorps just ask them what the sieve is for in the birthing pool...

Orchid12 · 14/03/2011 12:33

Scorps you could try asking about the role that natural prostaglandins play in labour as opposed to synthetic ones and see if that raises any eyebrows?

Scorpette · 14/03/2011 12:38

OH yes, the sieve! Nice one, GG Grin

Rocket, those forms are always insane. I once got an Inland Revenue form sent back to me because they insisted my age wasn't compatible with my DOB. It was 2008 and my YOB is 1972. Because I'd put 35 as my age - which it was, as my b-day was months away - they insisted this was wrong, ie born in 72, year is 08, so she has to be 36 Confused I actually had to ring up and (im)patiently point out that I didn't miraculously turn a new age the second the clocks struck midnight at New Year... Talk about Computer Says No!

Scorpette · 14/03/2011 12:42

I would, Orchid, but I'd feel fraudulent, as I suspect I won't be using that particular method myself to get things moving. Am now so unwieldy that I can't face secksy times Sad Do feel quite horny but it'd be such a comedic trial and effort that it'd suck all the turn-on out of it (no jokes about sucking the turn-on out of TYF, thank you).

Medee · 14/03/2011 14:04

today's update; MW appointment confirmed that I have dropped in the last day or so, so now 2/5 engaged. All well otherwise, and baby happy and in right position. Have an induction appointment already for the 24th! Assumed it was just a systematic thing ("most women don't get there") and to defer the "and what if I refuse?" discussion.

OP posts:
milanomum · 14/03/2011 14:08

booty Best of luck today!

I am trying not to think of names just yet but I adore these the bird names. I found out the flavour with Thechild and will do with this one if he/she lets us. It's mostly for practical reasons and because I'd like to be able to speak about a 'brother' or 'sister' to TheChild, rather than just 'a baybee' (and because TIS might try to slap a crap name on him/her while I am in hospital) but also because I am so curious - Orchid much respect to you for keeping it secret. I am thinking about telling people that we couldn't see anything and then announce it at the 30-ish wk scan but I'd probably give it away.

Laydees - get the sechs now while you still can!

milanomum · 14/03/2011 14:10

oooh Medee Sounds good! 24th is also aaaaggges away Smile

rocketleaf · 14/03/2011 14:11

ohh meds you are nearly there, sure the induction thing is just a formality, you could be snuffling minimed by then end of the week!! Wooo!!! Anymore 'twinges'? Sending you pineapple flavoured nipple tweaks.

Ivegotmrbitey · 14/03/2011 14:20

Hello! Am back and very happy to have heard the baybee's heart beating like the clappers Smile
MW examined me and asked if I had felt much movement. I told her about the solitary nudge and she laughed and said the baybee has his/her back facing outwards and will be kicking like a good un but into the womble and fluid which explains the lack of wriggling felt.
She also said the baybee may take the decision out of our hands tomorrow if he/she doesn't shift over. Oh and going by feel the MW said that I may be due ealrier than orginally thought as fudnus is slightly bigger than usual for the date. Nothing to worry about, just means I might meet himself/herself earlier. Can't wait for tomorrow now!

rocket d'you want me to do your form? I love a good form and set a personal best with this decade's census

score natural prostaglastins can be taken orally too Wink

Small bird names are all sounding lovely, does owlette count? No? Robin is much nicer anyway! Did a quick google on trogladyte and it is beautiful pol, sorry for nosiness but just couldn't help it.

Medee · 14/03/2011 14:23

good news, Bitey.

OP posts:
Ivegotmrbitey · 14/03/2011 14:27

You too meds, spectacular cross post there caused by kitten pouncing on my typing fingers. It must be lovely to know that things are progressing and that you will be snuffling soon Smile

Was about to offer you a chicken thaal but have recently heard a horror story from my SIL about post laying poo combined with curry aftermath and will persoanlly be eating very bland food for the final furlong!

rocketleaf · 14/03/2011 14:30

I normally like a good form too bitey but this one is a task because my employment history isn't straight forward. Have sorted and reposted it now anyway.

BTW you did one thing on the census form wrong, you filled it in too early! How do you know you wont have an unexpected visitor staying in your house on the 27th? You might even have to house them in the shed with the donkey.

Scorpette · 14/03/2011 14:56

We haven't got the thing through from the Census people to let us take it yet Angry I do actually like filling stuff like that out, hmmph!

Good stuff about your MW appointment, Medee. Sounds like your baybee is getting ready :) You'll be snuffling him/her within the next 10 days, yippee!

And yay for yours too, Bitey :) Sounds like everything is perfect. I has a big fundus too (Matron! etc.), which would tally with my early-laying genes. I never thought about the aftermath of necking hot curries to hurry things along - no-one wants a double Ring of Fire, do they?! Shock

As for oral prostaglandins, well, I've started feeling a bit sick again and gagging v easily, so that might be out too Confused

I've had to start sleeping on the sofa every night to be able to sleep (we don't have a spare bed, arse). Is crap and I miss TYF - especially when he talks and acts out his dreams whilst asleep (it's so funny)! - but getting the zzzzs in and taking the iron tabs are making me feel a lot less fatigued.
