Score, Spatone is, to my knowledge, water from a spring that wells up through ground with a high iron content. It is just water With iron naturally dissolved in it. No added ingredients. It's recommended you take it in juice as you need the vit c to absorb the iron. This maybe your only problem?

Sorry for random capitalisation, damn phone!

I bought some really cute sleep suits in mothervare sale, and some more cot sheets (don't even have cot yet!) I have had to but then in the car to stop myself drewling all over them.

Dad is making me watch rugby, quite shocked that I understand what is going on.

Scorpette · 26/02/2011 18:21

Yay! Thanks, Cass :) That's such a relief (Durr to me not checking the FAQs Blush). Mind you, not keen on the bit about it possibly staining one's teeth - 'tis not like I have blindingly-white gnashers to start off with! Shall ask Doc if can get it on prescription - nothing ventured, nothing gained, eh?!

rocketleaf · 26/02/2011 18:24

Sorry cas I'm not sure exactly. It was part of a convo we had when I started my treatment. I just know that the doc had said I was borderline but ok so no treatment required but my acupuncturist didn't agree. Obviously I wasn't dangerously low but by TCM standards any imbalance should be sorted whereas with western med if you are above such and such a threshold then it's 'not a problem' A basic difference in philosophy I guess? and one of my friends has been told the same thing by her TCM guy (one of the top fertility practitioners in the NW)

Casserole · 26/02/2011 18:45

I'll check my drucks book later Scorps but I have a feeling you can only get the bog standard ones on scrip.

No worries Rockette Smile

Scorpette · 26/02/2011 18:55

Thanks, Cass, really appreciate that. Have been googling Floradix and there is a yeast- and gluten-free version I could have and I think that's available on Prescription. I mean, I would still get Spatone with me own cash if it would help, obviously.

Ivegotmrbitey · 26/02/2011 19:34

Just looking at the spatone box now, is just water that has very high iron content- 34% of your rda. Each sachet is 20ml so you could do it as a shot, but I find the iron taste too atrong for that and mix it with juice plus the vitamin c aids absorbtion. Iron tablets give me constipation and cramps and I already have enough of that going on!

Snooze was lovely except I went to bed alone and woke up when the fdh got in and again when the cat joined us - we are like the family van winkle here Smile

Casserole · 26/02/2011 19:35

Well the bad news is that it doesn't list Spatone or Floradix as script items Score.

The good news is that it DOES list about 12 different preparations that are; so if one doesn't agree with you others may.

It says although the usual advice is to take on an empty stomach; if there are gastrointestinal issues then you can take them with food which should sort that. It doesn't mention anything about them exacerbating headaches.

I think I might get me some spatone.

Ivegotmrbitey · 26/02/2011 19:35

Please excuse lack of punctuation- am on iPod without my glasses and reliant on the auto change!

rocketleaf · 26/02/2011 19:39

Ha bitey I have a picture on my phone from the other week when I went to have a nap. 2 minutes after I got comfy the cat got on ME, hind legs on bump and pillow supporting bump, front legs on my side/ribs. No nap for me then (cat is fairly enormous) :o

Medee · 26/02/2011 19:46

Hello all! Have failed to read properly to catch up but hope you are all OK. I did gather that medical things continue to plague scorps, that rocket has been missing TB and that thelovelyPolls has turned a corner.

I waved my pals off this afternoon, and had a lovely 24 hours with them. My BM of 3 kids brought me loads of stuff - lots of reusable nappies (enough apparently to do a wash every other day, and have had a lesson in using them), a Baby Bjorn, which MrM looked very lovely sporting, a Bumbo, and a pile of clothes and sleeping bags. Also, another friend gifted a beautiful bamboo blanket.

Plus, I "won" the nappy bucket I was bidding for on Ebay.

Medee · 26/02/2011 19:47

why I bolded TB I'm not sure, unless he too skim reads the site!

Ivegotmrbitey · 26/02/2011 19:49

Cats do seem to love a bump! And can sniff out a warm sleepy person from 50 miles away!

Scorpette · 26/02/2011 20:03

Thanks for that info, Cass, is v useful, esp. the part about there being lots of different preps to try :) You've really put my mind at ease. Will be stocking up on spinach and vit c!

Glad you've had a lovely time with your pals, Medee. Sounds like you're getting v sorted with all your baybee stuff and I like the sound of your very own Athena poster moment with Mr M Grin And yay for the eBay win!

rocketleaf · 27/02/2011 10:09

Medee, you sound so organised! Its very exciting. Had to google Bumbo so at least now I know what the weird sitty up thing my cousin has offered me is called :o

I feel like poop today, went out with lovely friend for lunch yesterday, she had been quite poorly and went to docs to make sure she wasn't contagious (bless her!) before meeting me. I stupidly told her that I hadn't been ill since getting diffed and thought my immune system had some secret prego power. Cue the burning sinuses I always get before a cold starting at 1 this morning. Situation not really helped by me titting about in Chat until 2.30 this morning. Anyway I'm am sure nothing to do with lovely friend, probably caught it off the self service til in T'asda. (or just the universe telling me to fuck off for being a smug git :o)

And besides which nothing can dampen the fact I am GOING HOME TODAY!!!!!! Whoot!

Medee · 27/02/2011 12:59

I need to be Rocket, I'm due in less than two week!

Enjoy going home!

rocketleaf · 27/02/2011 14:18

This is true meds SQUUEEEEEEEEEEE!!

Ivegotmrbitey · 27/02/2011 16:19

Less than two weeks medeeracake? yowzer!

Happy home coming lambsleaf, have a lovely reunion!

I have been shopping with a christmas Argos voucher and bought a baybee monitor, it was £75 down to £48 and had free travel sterilizer and closer to nature bottle. Not sure if we'll need these if the planned BFing works but you never know? There are lots of baybee items on special in Argos at the moment btw. Also bio-oil is three for two in boots Smile

Medee · 27/02/2011 16:29

bitey was it you who got the free Boots changing bag just the other day? Do you just lift it off the shelf and go to the till with your coupon and the nappies you need to buy?

OP posts:
Ivegotmrbitey · 27/02/2011 16:52

That was me, am all about the free stuff! Yes, you just take it off the shelf and take it to the till. It's a nice bag actually and has a travel change mat inside.

Medee · 27/02/2011 20:14

splendid, thanks, Bitey. Going to pop to our big branch and pick it up this week, hopefully.

OP posts:
rocketleaf · 28/02/2011 07:58

I luffs the free stuff too. I am going to have to go and join boots club then aren't I? Although the lovelyboo has offered to organise my girl friends to get me a posh one. Which is lovely as it's a present for the baby but for me too iyswim.

Cold in full effect and my substitute baybee has come in with a poorly back leg today so just waiting til the vets opens see if I can get him an emergency appointment.

laurielou · 28/02/2011 08:27

Morning all!

Cass thanks for making me feel better about my fat-feet. Swollen thighs Shock. That really is going some, lady!

Poll I can't tell you how happy I am that you feel you've turned a corner. Long may it continue. Am I too late for the tequila?

Scorps I'm glad your GP at least has a plan, but sorry that your list of ailments just seems to continue.

Mr Loz bought a changing bag on Sat, so don't mention the Boots freebie. In fact I think we bought everything Mamas & Papas has ever made Blush. They had a lot of 3 for 2 offers + 10% discount this weekend. So we went in & bought cot, mattress, wardrobe, chest of drawers with changing unit, moses basket stand, pram / car seat travel system thing, with matching change bag, parasol & foot muff. To cover all weather eventualities. Is fair to say I we got a bit carried away Blush. Mr Loz whipped out his credit card & paid for the lot. Then he let me down getting excited arranging for it to be delivered on May 4th (Star Wars day). Can't have it all.

I feel a bit better for getting some shiz organised. My friend's sister has offered all manner of sheets, which is a help. I also found a list in one of the many catalogues I have acumulated of "first time essentials". I thought we were doing really well - until I dropped the list & realised it continued over the page. Arse.

To recover from that we too spent the rest of the weekend ogling Italian men in tight shorts watching the rugby.

Oh, & we've booked our few days away in Cornwall.

Tesco value beans for dinner this week!

milanomum · 28/02/2011 08:49

Now, just need to see if I can write this before computer battery dies.

Poll so glad to hear things are getting better! Is it too early for more tequilla?

loz just reading that list of stuff you bought made me tired Wink. It sounds like you got a great deal though and at least now you can relax knowing that there is 'stuff'!

Those Boots freebie bags sound great. I suppose I'll have to make do with the old one I've got. But I remember it being a bit small. And a bit uncomfortable I want one of these

scorps I just really feel for you and all your headache stuff.

milanomum · 28/02/2011 08:49

oh! And... I luffs Colin Firth.

Ariesgirl · 28/02/2011 09:12

Loz where are you going in Cornwall? Apart from coming to visit me obv?
