Medee a bit of the labour has just come back to me and I know now the definite reason why I couldn't go to the birth centre and use the pool. Because I was getting proper bleeding they were concerned about potential placenta problems. I've suddenly remembered hearing them looking at my notes and discussing that I had a high anterior placenta so the bleeding was likely to just be from pushing while not fully dilated. It all suddenly makes sense to me now.

rocketleaf · 19/02/2011 19:26

I wonder if more details will start coming back muse? It must seem such a blur straight afterwards but then perhaps other things will trigger more memories like when you 'break' a dream.

Sorry score but yes bits of her nipples actually came off in her baybees mouth My midwife told me I would probably have it worse than most as 'fair' skinned people (ie: ginger freckly moonbathers) such as myself have the most sensitive skin (my friend is fairly dark as she is half chinese) but I am all 'lalalala' on that point. To be fair I dont think she had the latch right as he was very pursed lip sucking on the end of her nip rather than full mouth on the aureola/breast which my MW had told me the day before was not right. However, I didn't think it was right (and might seem critical) for me to advise when I haven't actually done it myself. So hopefully the BF adviser will have sorted her out that avo.

Scorpette · 19/02/2011 19:46

Oh sweet Jesus. Shock

The obvious question is, do the fallen-off bits grow back? I'm sure this sounds daft but it's freaking me out!

I am redonkulously pale and before pg made my nips a bit browner, mine were pale pink (TMI?), so this is Not Good News. I have been reading a lot about the correct latch and it seems to be that you need to get loads of the whole nip area in their gob and have the nip pointed towards the roof of their mouth (FESH may correct me, please).

Am just praying that The Lad shares his father's breast fixation and will know exactly what to do with them. Wait... does that sound creepy?

I do love how we first-timers ponder and fret about virtually everything but when it comes to it, all our researching and worrying won't count for much when we're thrown in at the deep end! But all the wondering is part of the fun :)

CurlyCasper · 19/02/2011 19:59

yes, i suffered, as a ginger, pink-nips. But they heal very quickly,

rocketleaf · 19/02/2011 20:02

I think it was just bits of rough skin rather than actual chunks of nip iyswim. They looked ok to me when she fed him yesterday although obviously I wasn't inspecting them closely. :o

Snap on the nipple colour , almost invisible unless ahem erect (TMI?) Do you think we might be nipple twinz? :o Oh well, sure we will be laughing (???) and swapping nip horror stories by end of June (while happily BFing our ickle angels ) After the hell you have been thru with the migraines I reckon a bit of nipchaff will be a walk in the park in comparison.

I think medee summed it up perfectly with the driving theory analogy. Tis the difference between knowledge and experience.

rocketleaf · 19/02/2011 20:05

Nice one casp :S My friend told me to get to work hardening them up with a nail brush prior to birth. I cannot believe this is sensible advice Hmm

HighPriestessBoo · 19/02/2011 22:00

Just feel the need to let you gorgeouses know that I have been breastfeeding smallboy for 3 years now and I have never ever had any part of my nipple fall off. Slight soreness yes, sorted by some Lansinoh. Nipples have stayed firmly on. It's not par for the course - and is usually all about the latch, which is a bit tricky at first.

Scorpette · 19/02/2011 22:12

You underestimate what a pathetic wimp I am in the face of imaginary potential pain, Rocky Grin Blush Rough bits of skin sounds bearable (my nips have been v dry most of the pg, although I imagine that's pretty common).

My nips were actually a lovely lilac-y colour. I kinda wish I'd taken a picture of them (and my lovely smooth, flawless-skinned belly) before pg!

Nail brush, my arse! I practically weep if I put my bra on too brusquely [confuse] Good to know they recover, cheers fellow Pale Nips Casper. Do we, y'know, get to see them to check for ourselves (GERREM AHT!)? Wink Same goes for you, Boo! Cheers for more reassurance.

Awww, TYF is making us allergy-free cupcakes after discovering I've not eaten one since 1994! It (almost) makes up for him leaving the toilet seat up when I have to rush to the loo every hour like a right incontinent old biddy.

Ivegotmrbitey · 19/02/2011 22:17

la la la can't hear you! scorps am feeling your shopping pain, have gone up two back and two cup sizes and am only fit for nana bras in marks. Also had a little cry in dorothy Perkins when directed to more jeans and stripey tee-shirtsBlush

FDH is watching aliens and quite failing to understand my reluctance to join him!

rocketleaf · 19/02/2011 22:21

Well now I don't feel so bad at having had a flabby white cellulite ridden pot belly all my life so that I can have an unstretch marked flabby white pot belly during pregnancy :o

Dont worry score I'll be here to shout HTFU at you when your nips drop off Wink

Thanks for that boo as I said i definitely don't think she had the latch sorted so hope things will get much better for her from now on.

Bless TYF, I am on day one of 7 days at the rentals and I am missing TB already

Ivegotmrbitey · 19/02/2011 22:22

Acutally, have just been reminded by fdh of the time I went surfing with just my knickers on under my wetsuit. Lost pieces of nipple then in the resulting rash and it didn't actually hurt! Looked horrific though!

rocketleaf · 19/02/2011 22:23

I wish I could watch those bitey but I am too much of a woose.

rocketleaf · 19/02/2011 22:24

Alien films not your red raw nipples that is.

Scorpette · 19/02/2011 22:30

Bitey, my headaches have an unexpected bonus - all the loud noises and clanging spfx, etc. of Man Films exacerbate them so I can justify banning them from the house Grin

The Mamas & Papas boyfriend jeans were odd - they have a big comfy over-bump panel but a really stiff, tight denim waistband underneath. And if I see another ribbed stretch t-shirt I will scream. I bloody hate ribbed jersey and it makes anyone over 8 stone look humungous. BTW, I just went straight for some feeding bras when I went up 2 cup sizes to save money. Not sexy but immensely comfy. Also, unhooking them then flashing TYF and making him bump into things/spit out whatever he's drinking never stops being amusing Grin

Ivegotmrbitey · 19/02/2011 22:42

I had some of those scorps from marks (there are very few shops where I lice) it was ace! Leopard print flasher bra! The nana bras are supercomfy but just hideous to look at.

I tried on loads of M & P trousers today, they are very oddly sized! I was getting swamped in the short keg length and am 5ft7!

Scorpette · 19/02/2011 22:42

Rocket, I have stretchmarks basically everywhere but no cellulite. It's definitely Mother Nature's apology!

Poor you, being apart from Yo Man. I bet TB is missing you even more :)

rocketleaf · 19/02/2011 22:44

I think I am growing out of my new bras already If I get more I am definitely going to get feeding ones this time.

I have lived in these Next jeggings since they arrived. So comfy. Also i wangled free delivery out of Next this morning because i returned the faulty tankini top to store yesterday and it is now out of stock. I don't see why I should have to pay for delivery on a different style when that might not fit as well and they sent me a broken one in the first place. Have to say their CS is very good as she offered it with no quibbles.

rocketleaf · 19/02/2011 22:47

I think he is consoling himself by setting up some sort of futuristic wifi driven server system in our house, which no doubt it will take me months to figure out how to work. Lots of bits of computer have been getting delivered this week. But yes, he says he is missing me

Scorpette · 19/02/2011 22:58

Although I know 'keg' was a typo, it kinda describes the differ figure quite well Grin

I didn't see a leopard print preggo bra - must go investigate!

Ivegotmrbitey · 19/02/2011 23:02

Aww, I love being away from the fdh for a bit because missing each other is so nice in a bitter sweet kind of way. Also enjoy lying in double bed like a starfish and get a bit resentful when we are reunited!

Scorpette · 19/02/2011 23:03

Awwww, Rocket, men and their gizmos. He's clearly taking his mind off missing you, doing all that. TYF has become a bit obsessed with making sure all our electricals and entertainment stuff are in top working order - think it's their version of nesting!

Oh my god, the buns are SOOO good

rocketleaf · 19/02/2011 23:07

Same here bitey but its only 2 weeks since he was away for a week. I won't be home til next Sunday then he is away the following weekend so its all a bit too much of the missing to be nice. Oh well, its for a good cause and I am goign to see some of my bezzies and spend quality time with PapaLeaf so its all good.

gissa a "bun" score

Scorpette · 19/02/2011 23:12
Ivegotmrbitey · 19/02/2011 23:17

That is a lot of missing rockcake, it's hard too isn't it?
The fdh has got two weekends away coming up in march and I aleady have the arse a bit!

scorpedo they were a twin pack, one good girl grey and one racy leopard print Wink

rocketleaf · 19/02/2011 23:18

I don't think rabies infects felines score but it's an enduring image

i really should go to bed i suppose.
