I always come out of differs yoga wanting chips - thankfully I know dinner will be waiting for me at home, as I pass a chippy on the drive back.

Scorpette · 16/02/2011 22:11

Glad you're okay, Kate :) Am loving hearing about your drunken exploits - I think Boxcutter is trying to embarrass you into labour Wink

Scorpette · 16/02/2011 22:13

PS Chips are apparently the most common diff-craving. Is certainly true for me and my Mum always laughs about how all she wanted to eat was chips during both pgs :)

God, I want chips SOOO badly now!

Medee · 16/02/2011 22:16

If anyone was interested in the BT baby monitor 150, it is a further few quid off now till Sunday on Ebay, now £43.99.

(so between that, the TENS, packing my bag and starting to listen to the hippo CD, can you tell that I am panicked by these early lays?!)

Medee · 16/02/2011 22:20

not Ebay, Amazon.

Ivegotmrbitey · 16/02/2011 22:20

They were pretty bloody good! Have got terrific indigestion now though!

Scorpette · 16/02/2011 22:26

Were, not was, gah! Epic grammar fail Blush Thanks for the tip-off, lovely calm Medee Wink

HighPriestessBoo · 16/02/2011 22:30

I am craving chips now. Does this mean I might be diffed? :o

Scorpette · 16/02/2011 23:08

Hope so Boo! :)

Muser · 17/02/2011 04:10

God I could murder some chips right now.

Hello! I am home. There is a brief birth story in FESH for those who like that sort of thing.

Ivegotmrbitey · 17/02/2011 07:22

Welcome home muse and baybeemuse! hope you had a good first night?

rocketleaf · 17/02/2011 07:43

Please tell me they did not discharge you at 4 am muse :o hope minimuse is settling in well at home.

I don't think I have eaten chips since a breif flirtation with those slimming world ones in the first trimester. My preferred format of spud is roasted, yum. Or extremely well done jacket. Gah, now I am going to have to get up and have some breakie.

Got 25 week MW today. Will I get to hear the heart beat again? I have a list of questions as long as your arm including the cold prawn debate and swimming styles, she is going to think I am bonkers.

Then I hopefully I am off to see my friends new born. Whoop!!

laurielou · 17/02/2011 08:20

Morning all!

Welcome home Muse and Minimuse. Your pics are just bloody gorgeous. Will take a trip over the the Spa soon.

Rocket I had my 25 week appointment on Mon & got to hear HB again Smile. MW also scrunched tummy quite hard to find position of baby, but made up for it with HB shenanigans. Good luck!

Kate you're doing BRILLIANTLY. To wait this long before you had a - what has to be said mini & frankly not very good Wink - strop is amaze. Laughter could be the way to go - my friend went into her first labour watching Only Fools & Horses where baby Damian was born. Oh, & from a fellow fall-over-my-own-feet, try & stay upright today.

Drom Same friend as mentioned above went on to have 2 planned C-Sections after her 1st ended up emergency CS. All of her children are AMAZE. She had no problems with any bonding, they show no hallmarks of being any different to naturally born kiddies. My friend also has some lovely pics of her leaving the house on D-Day, just glowing & calm, knowing that she's going to be holding her baby in a few short hours. Her husband was with her the entire time, & they decided to distract themselves by trying to name all the USA states in alphabetical order. When her husband flustered "Africa" they began laughing & were surprised when surgeon interrupted to introduce them to their beautiful daughter.

After 3rd C-section, she had a wonderful picture of her sitting on the bed with her 3 kids all around her. Her husband had this picture on his work desk. A colleague saw the picture & said "I thought you had 3 children, not 4". When he pointed out that the 4th "child" was his wife*, there was much embarrassment all round.

  • Husband is 5 days older than wife & she was 33 in the picture. That's how fab she looked.

Sorry this is so long, just hope it gives some reassurance. This friend of mine is my all time parental inspiration. I luffs her muchly.

LadyGoneGaga · 17/02/2011 08:35

Ah, lovely story, Lozza.

Yoga always made me fancy chips too - not sure why. My sessions start in a couple of weeks!

Am feeling shattered at the moment - going to get back on the Spatone even though iron count was fine last visit. Might work from home today, not decided yet.

Hopefully today will be the day that Clucky lays her baybee. I think you've been amazingly patient. I know you want this all to happen naturally but a sweep might just help it all kick off - I don't think it would effect the outcome of the labour? But I think I am much more impatient than you Smile

rocketleaf · 17/02/2011 09:21

Such a lovely tale lozzerlou My sister also had both my nieces by planned CS as they were both breech. With the eldest she was 2 weeks over due and showing no signs of turning even with manipulation, with the 2nd it was obviously going to be the same so they booked her for her due date. You know it's never even occured to my to think they might be any different if they were born 'naturally' they are both so gorgeous! She was a bit dissapointed with the eldest having planned a home birth right until the end but at the end of the day she was just happy to get her baby safely!

I think the main draw back was a/ having to stay in hospital a bit longer and b/ not being able to drive for 6 weeks which was s bit if a PITA. Neither of which were disasters as she a/ got more help with BFing and b/ had a great excuse to make BIL do all the shopping :)

Don't know why I need to hear the heartbeat really. It's not like I can't feel (and see) sprout dancing the quadrill on the back if my belly button. Be interesting to see which way up she is tho as kicks are feeling much higher up and less bladder busting which hopefully is a good sign.

lady I was only thinking yesterday I might get back on the Spatone for a month. Was peering at my inner eyelids to see if they were a bit pasty but j can't really tell. Might just get back on the stout instead :o

LadyGoneGaga · 17/02/2011 09:33

Good call on the Stout Grin. Have been craving (and eating) a lot of red meat lately which could also indicate need more iron. Have been a bad girl and eaten it pink too - someone told me was ok if steak or say roast beef as long as nicely seared on outside. But it was so yummy. And I also bought some blue cheese the other day on impulse. Oxford Blue from the posh butchers/deli. Haven't eaten it yet and is staring at me accusingly from the fridge. Oh, and I can actually enjoy a small glass of wine again rather than it tasting of hairspray like before. I think am going to be French for the rest of this pregnancy Grin. Apart from the labour.

LadyGoneGaga · 17/02/2011 09:36

Oh and my sis had three c-sections. First one was a nightmare emergency one but next two sounded nice and chilled (one transverse baby, one breech)! I was born by c-section too - hasn't done me any harm.

Flipside is big sis now teases me about being flappy downstairs. Cheers sis Smile (I'm not by the way, pelvic floor exercises are marvellous things)

OP posts:
Backinthebox · 17/02/2011 09:53

LGG I'm sure she only teases you tongue-in-cheek, but how on earth would she know whether you are flappy or not? Speaking from experience, a long labour with 4 hrs unsuccessful pushing, then a go at a ventouse extraction, then stuffing the baby back up THEN having a CS left me needing the post birth exercises much more than a quick ping-pong baby flying out the fanjo!

FFS I get irate at being told I was too posh to push with TT, and now it turns out there's people out there who accuse you (even nicely) of having a flappy fanny if you don't have a 100% CS hit rate. It just shows you can't win. Hmm

No news fro Kate today so far. This means she's either gone on a 4hr route march or she has LittleChick filling up her birth pool and calling the MW. Either are possible!

rocketleaf · 17/02/2011 09:57

I did jamies curried steak dinner the other day and I think that's the only red meat I've eaten this pregnancy (never been a huge fan) I accidentally did it well done as ^completly forgot that you're not supposed to have it rare and was aiming for med rare as that's how TB prefers it. School girl error! It was really tasty tho so might get some more in although cooking it ponged the house out and set the smoke alarm off. Can't wait til BBQ season!

LadyGoneGaga · 17/02/2011 10:16

Oh she was only teasing nicely, Box. Your labour sounds just like mine, right down to the 4 hours of push...only the ventouse worked thankfully. They were poised to dash me to theatre next...meant to be much easier second time round, right?

Hopefully t'is the latter for Cluck - so exciting. She needs to lay this fred though to make it an extra-bumper baybee edition.Hmm

Ha - saw your notes on the washing up post-dinner, Leafy. We had the same issues with the ones we tried. Was the steak one nice then? I was put off as culturally seemed a bit incongruous - like the beef curry you used to get at school but might give it a go if is good!

LadyGoneGaga · 17/02/2011 10:17

Come BBQ season we will have new baybees!

Medee · 17/02/2011 10:28

Hope MW goes well today, rocks. I usually turn up to my appointments with a list of random questions. I think my MW does quite well to answer them without rolling her eyes at me! I?ve heard the HB at every appointment since 16 weeks. Always very reassuring.

LadyGG I?ve been eating my meat pink too for most of the pregnancy ? only once did I really worry about it afterwards, as it was rare rather than medium rare, but as you say, if it has been cooked properly on outside and properly looked after till then, you?ll probably be fine.

I haven?t completely denied myself wine either. Though I threw a slight strop recently as we always seemed to have the same bottle of wine in the house (not the same actual bottle!) and I was getting fed up that that was my only glass of wine, when it wasn?t an issue for MrM as he had other drinks for variety, so he got us a lovely bottle of white wine last weekend. Normally I prefer red, but sometimes there is nothing better than a cold, crisp dry white wine. Mmmm.

rocketleaf · 17/02/2011 10:42

I have been having the odd glass of wine too although I actually prefer to pinch sips of other peoples than to have a whole glass to myself. I just can't seem to manage a whole glass these days (weak sauce!)

Yey for hearing heart beats, it gives you something to look forward to other than WIAR.

Lady BBQ season comes early round these parts since we invested in a gas one, as soon as its above 12 degrees and not pissing it down every day we will drag it out of the shed and put it to work. So I am hoping to get a fair few in pre laying. Shame as we normally have an annual (or biannual) BBQ/party on the 2nd weekend in June for TBs birthday, I can't see that happening this year somehow! :o

laurielou · 17/02/2011 10:42

I like my meat cremated at the best of times, so no problems for me here!

Rocket Like you I can feel Bug dancing around all the time, but hearing the HB is just another lovely reassurance. Bug was particularly active last night just as I went to bed. I asked Mr Loz if he wanted a feel - bless, his little eyes lit up until he realised what I meant. He's felt the occasional kick before, but as he put it last night "Baby's gone mental!" as it felt like a boxercise class.

Though, where the "kicking" was happening was where the head was during MW appt Confused. I know there's still plenty of room for baby to spin around, but I seem to get kicks / punches / headbutts all over.

ginhag · 17/02/2011 10:57

I have very little idea what is going on as I currently exist in a bubble BUT

Kate you are a star and a truly mighty pesh. You have been amazing throughout the past couple of weeks. Thinking of you loads.

squeezymuse welcome home lovely.

drom am happy to chat re cs stuff if I can be any help. I am not sure I believe in any kind of birth being perfect, there are pros n cons all round, but I can def say a prepared-for elcs is a lot better than an emcs. And an emcs is alright if it means everyone comes out in one piece iyswim. Also I recommend the xx as thoroughly calming/distracting music :) Although they have now been used on tv etc so much, as mr g pointed out, it was suddenly like we were in a docu drama or summat!

Also, you don't always get stuck in hosp for long. I had cs fri morning, home sun morning. Try n get a private room if you can so you have the chance of some sleep. I managed to bag one for the second night and it made a HUGE difference.

Even with my emcs I was out within 2 days Although I was lucky that it was fairly straightforward.

Now, go and buy some MaSSIVE pants.

Oh, re shaving, they just take a bit off the top. No need for a full Hollywood :)

everyone sorry I have run out of brain now. I have put a couple of fairly rubbish pics of my boy up on fb (incidentally, who has sent me a friend request? Am sure tis one of you lot but I can't make out who)

Snogs, tequila, headbutts all round xxx
