Amazing, Kate! Sounds like a wonderful experience and you were so right to be patient - it really paid off. Welcome to the world, little man!

Now, we really do need some BESHes to come over and fill these vacancies.

BarbiesBeaver · 18/02/2011 09:30

Oh Kate so pleased you got the birth you wanted after waiting so patiently. And muchos congrats to Muse as well for her speedy birth.

rocketleaf · 18/02/2011 09:43

Oh Kate that's brilliant news!! I am so chuffed for you!!! Welcome to the world littlechick

Ah good stuff! I needed to hear that after getting details yesterday of my friends rather nightmarish experience this weekend (3 day labour, cervix refused to open, transfer to birthing suite and inevitable EMCS) I need to know fluffy hippo water HB can happen too! Yey!

TwinkleToes76 · 18/02/2011 09:46

Brilliant news Clucky! Birth sounds lovely.

PerfectDromedary · 18/02/2011 09:50

Hurray! Well done, CK - sounds wonderful!

Ivegotmrbitey · 18/02/2011 10:25

Congratulations! Sounds like your amazing stoicism and patience was repaid in full! Welcome to the world chicklet Smile

Truffkin · 18/02/2011 10:57

Am just popping in to add my huge congrats to the growing list for Kate and miniChick as have been reading with admiration her long wait to meet him. Am hoping inspiration of many newly created spaces in the deli will encourage lots of wins in the palais this month!

laurielou · 18/02/2011 11:39

Dear God, I do some actual work & miss this! Kate BIG CONGRATULATIONS! Not only on finally welcoming LittleChick into the world but proving that sometimes, just sometimes, births can go to plan.

You have been an absoltute inspiration during the past few weeks. Well done you!

I can't believe how many BESH babies we've welcomed recently - its been absolutely marvellous. Well done all of you. And more to come next week .

Then I think we'll take a well deserved rest. Don't know about all you birthers, I'm exhausted Grin Grin

Backinthebox · 18/02/2011 12:50

Hurray for Kate! I'm just finishing off my lunch then going round to see them. TT is extremely excited that the baby is actually out now. I have to admit I was wondering what they would actually do with her today if he didn't come out of his own accord, though!

As an aside, Kate told me the fabulous MW she has, an NHS community MW who is very experienced in HBs and who helped her fend off the attentions of the hospital, thus ensuring she got the birth she wanted, is being made to move to another area within the NHS trust after 28 years, as they feel she is too comfy and needs new challenges. She has delivered babies all over our little town, and is known by most of the women in the area. Her aim is to make childbirth easier, not challenging! If there were more MWs like her around people like me wouldn't have to go private to guarantee a good one - Kate lucked out with her. So WTF move her? The NHS is just a bag of shite sometimes!

Medee · 18/02/2011 12:57

It?s BabyDrom next week, and then let?s have a couple of weeks? breather before we start pacing for mine.

We had our final NCT AN class last night ? would like to say I feel ready, but as I have said elsewhere, I feel like I know all the theory and absolutely none of the practical. Ah well! Got some disappointing news at AN class. Remember the super duper spa-like new pool at my local hospital ? apparently it isn?t actually installed yet, and reports varied between ?a couple of weeks? and ?April?. And of course, as they only have one pool, that means there is potentially none available because the old one is out to make way for the new one. Ach well, just have to keep my mind open to land-birth (which obviously I was trying to do anyway!)

Scorpette · 18/02/2011 13:13

Ooooh, Cluckers, you sneaky mare Grin Am overjoyed for you and your gorgeous little chick and that you got the birth you wanted - the best things really ARE worth waiting for, eh? And what's more, you've given us some well-needed PESHpiration that birth plans can go as desired, so cheers! Am going to go rad your story as soon as I post this. Big smooches to you and your tiny bundle of joy :)

V sad & bad, however, that they're messing The MW of Perfection about; if it ain't broke, why fix it? Bah! Angry

Drom, a friend of mine has 4 kids and had an elcs for the last 2 (twinz) and said it was actually enjoyable! They played all the music she wanted, the guys doing it cracked loads of cheeky banter (says they had to tone it down eventually cos they were making her stomach ripple with laughter) and they'd already planned her recovery drucks regime, so she never felt crappy once.

I was talking to my Mum t'other day about feeling a bit scared about laying and she said the v wise words 'you might not get the birth you want but you WILL get the baby you want and that's all that matters'. I am adopting this as my mantra whenever I feel wibbly.

Lozza, I went to a rubbish 'psychic' show year ago - when the man said my Gran was speaking to him, I got a bit spooked. Strangely, death had transformed her from a slim, 4ft 9 Brunette mother of 2 from Derbyshire into a tall, plump blonde Southerner who'd had lots of children... Hmm Hmm Hmm

Am feeling a bit rubbish - a heinous cow bumped into me yesterday in Boots and made my basket shove painfully into my bump and then gave me a mouthful when I said 'OW!' quite loudly (involuntarily). Why are some people so hostile to differs? It still hurts where it hit me and then my headache went so bad later that I started losing my hearing and felt like I was having an out-of-body experience! Rang Doc who said that it might be more serious than they thought but they still won't/can't do anything for me till after the baby is born. Cheers, that's reassuring. Sad

Scorpette · 18/02/2011 15:45

I has broked the fred Sad Blush

HighPriestessBoo · 18/02/2011 16:10

Congratulations to Kate who has had the birth we all dream about. Enjoy snuggling your baybee boy :)

Don't slink off Scorps. Want a bumpless PESH to prowl around Boots with a cattle prod just in case the silly cah comes back? :o

Scorpette · 18/02/2011 16:32

Taser the witch for me, Boo Grin Much appreciated

Backinthebox · 18/02/2011 16:55

Well, I have just been to see the lovely Cluck and BabyChick. It sounds as though she had a sneeze very much along the lines of my sneeze, although I will let her fill you in on the details. I will say that she is looking very lovely and a lot less knackered than last time.

And it turns out that SuperMidwife is even more super than we thought! Clucky will fill you in on that too.

She was doing a check up on Clucky while I was there and basically any person in the area who has ever been born - she said 'ooh, yes. I delivered them too!' Including, it would seem, the future queen of England. Cluck didn't tell me that, a woman at our toddler group who had twins last month was told that. She was her MW too. I had her for my antenatal classes, so even I've seen her while pregnant!

Ivegotmrbitey · 18/02/2011 17:39

Wise words on the laying scorps, I keep thinking that when I watch OBEM. No matter how shrieky or serene the birth is everyone looks absolutely overwhelmed with love for their baybees when it is over. I'm just going to keep thinking about those happy loved-up faces when I get nervous.

Which branch of boots? Am happy to descend on it waving a pitchfork, a bucket of tar and a sack of feathers for you?

Your headache sounds awful, are the medics going to look into them more after theboybeescorp is born?

Muser · 18/02/2011 17:51

Hooray for BabyChick and Clucky, wonderful to here it all went to plan. Boo hiss to messing round lovely midwife though.

I am currently full of praise for the amazing specialist feeding midwife at my hospital. It gets slated for aftercare, but I rang up the community midwives today because BobKate is not feeding properly and was looking very yellow and becoming sleepier and sleepier. Community midwives were going to try and get round to me as well as all their other appointments. But then I get a call saying hospital midwife can see me at any point if I'd prefer that, just head over before she goes off shift at 5pm.

She spent nearly 2 hours working on my latch and getting a full feed sorted. I have a hand expresser and some feeding cups to get things started if Bob is too sleepy to feed, idea is these wake her up and then whack her on the boob and away we go.

I am so glad she was there to help and was so supportive of it all. I was about ready to fall apart.

owlbooty · 18/02/2011 18:17

I thought this week's OBEM was quite nice, really. A bit of transition-type mentalling from hippo birth lady but that is normal as far as I can make out.

Naughty BobKate not feeding and going yellow. Hoorah for the super midwife! Muse hope Bob behaves herself from now on, tis really good you've got support if you need it :)

Scorps I fear the only answer may be a new head. They do head transplants now, right? Also you're going to have to start wearing winklepickers so when arsey cows elbow you in shops you can kick them in the shins. Hard.

Meds that is a right bugger about the absence of pool. It's a shame they don't let you take your own in, y'know, like you would have for a home birth. There's probably a reason why people can't, though. I bet it's insurance or something dull like that.

I splashed out on some proper maternity clothes today. Is astounding how one can look mildly podgy in civillian clothing but magically transform into a differ when you put maternity clothes on. I spent a good half an hour admiring my sticky-outiness in Mothercare's changing room. Am now ridiculously excited about everything.

Scorpette · 18/02/2011 18:36

Aww, is fab you've got such excellent MW support, Muse. Hopefully now BobKate can scoff away to her heart's content and you can feel so much more relieved :)

Booty, it's great when you get some nice diff-fashion and you look bumpalicious, isn't it? V V exciting! BTW, I don't need winklepickers, I could just crush them with my hilarious fatty-feet Grin

Meds, that's crap about the pool. Everything crossed for you that it is actually sorted when your time comes (an excellent excuse to hold on as long as poss, eh?).

Bitey, all the medical peeps says the headaches will go within @48 hours of birth as they are all to do with pg hormones, so I bloody hope they're right! Consultant says I'm the worst they've seen with the condition but still within realms of 'acceptable' (yeah, for them, maybe Hmm), so we have to wait to see how I am after laying before they decide on further testing. Still worried about something 'blowing' in my head when I'm giving birth Confused Love 'boybeescorp', might have to call him that in RL Wink

SilverSky · 18/02/2011 19:32

Huzzah for SuperKate!!!

Casserole · 18/02/2011 19:43

Clucky so pleased to hear your news and the safe arrival of Little Chick Grin

Medee can you take a pool in with you?
There are several of us on here with pools that never got birthed in if so, I'm sure we coud work something out!

rocketleaf · 19/02/2011 09:35

meds that's a shitter about the pool :( I hope they get it installed in time for your easy sneezy.

muse glad you have had some help with the BF and its sorted Bobkate out, hope it is continuing to get easier today. My friend is struggling a bit too and was having the BFMW round yesterday to help sort her out. Hope it worked as her nipples were actually falling off to the point there was a bit of broon in the wee mans baby sick, poor thing must have been sucking blood and milk, little vampire!

He is VERY cute tho, got lots of cuddles and he even stopped crying for me for a bit, massive slushy AWWWWWWW. He was then voguing very prettily in my arms :o

rocketleaf · 19/02/2011 17:35

Uh oh, I haz broken thread with slushy overload :( (Wink)

Scorpette · 19/02/2011 17:56

Dear Mamas & Papas, when designing maternity jeans you might want to take into consideration that the majority of differs have arses substantially larger than Kylie's.

Dear fellow apartment block residents, there are only 6 flats in our block, each with their own bin and there is a large rubbish bin right outside, so why is some skanky fuckwit leaving empty coke cans, crisp packets and fast food wrappers in the communal areas? Sort it the fuck out, you disgrace.

Dear TYF, I heart you so much for squee-ing over a fuschia cuddly donkey and despising grown-up style blue clothes for boys. I think we'll parent pretty well together.

Dear Rocket, you hasn't broke the thread with your slush, worry not. I likes me a bit of slush and newborns deserve utmost slushiness. But when you say her nips were hanging off, you don't mean actually hanging off, do you? Do you mean they were v v painful, only I have a massive phobia about bad things happening to nipples and people often say their nips were hanging off and it's made me scared that such a thing might actually happen and it scares me worse than labour itself. I read summat on a BFing fred here once and a woman said a part of her nip fell off in the shower and I actually did a mini-vom Blush
