Oh Polls sorry to hear PND has struck again. But I'm glad that its been diagnosed early & pills prescribed. You haven't failed BB in any way. You tried BF, it wasn't for you. I'm sure BB is just fine on FF. Thank God for a supportive HV as well.

I really hope things start to pick up for you. Have a snog & a slap round the chops, x

rocketleaf · 21/02/2011 10:16

Sorry to hear about your rough times polly hope you have turned a corner and things start to get better. Don't feel guilty!! You love your girl and put yourself through a lot try and do the BF thing. She will be fine on FF. Its much better for you to be happy so you can make her happy.

drom cass already said it all really but I was talking to my sister about her electives yesterday. She said the first one was hard because she had focussed so much on having a HB right until the last minute that when she couldn't she didn't really have an alternative plan and just left the hospital to do everything (woke up with fully dressed baby in recovery) Second time round it was planned in advance like yours so she felt much more in control of everything and had the birth she wanted, skin to skin etc. She was really positive about it. I think you just have to remember it is still your birth experience and you have the right to have it done the way you want even if it is a more 'medicalised' you still have choices. Loads of luck, so excited for you to be meeting Berwhale in just a few days time!

off to look for kellymom...

owlbooty · 21/02/2011 10:17

You poor thing. Do not, please, feel even the remotest shred of guilt for going on to FF. Your HV is absolutely right and the little 'un will be absolutely fine. Hope you are feeling much better soon and tis excellent that it's been picked up early this time around.x

Scorpette · 21/02/2011 10:19

Firstly, big healing magic kisses to poor little MiniG Sad (And his tired old Mum) Hope he gets better soon.

That was a lovely post, Cass, and wise and true too. Drom, I have a few friends/family who've had elcs and every one of them has raved about how great it was. The thing is, hossie births can be great or go haywire BUT home births can equally be great or go haywire. The key is the safety of you and the baby and for you, that's an elcs. Although I love the stories of homebirths and am always so happy for everyone who enjoys them, I will always want to have a hospital birth. My Mum would've died having my brother if she hadn't have been in hossie (and the problem wasn't discovered until late in her labour), so I am very pro-hospital! And that's not to scare the home-birthers, either, as it was something incredibly rare.

My heart goes out to poor Pol. It must be bloody awful, my old stick But on the bright side, it's been picked up quickly and you've got your drucks and you'v already seen some improvement, so that's good. Don't feel guilty about FFing BB - you've given her 6 weeks of booby goodness (and the first 6 weeks of milk are the most important, I've read) and all the lovely initial bonding that entailed and you'll continue to bond as you get better and better and lovingly bottle-feed her, knowing you're doing everything right to be a top mum (which you are already, anyway)

Drom, seeing as you're about to meet gorgeous Berwhale and we're about to start a new fred, would it be a good idea to start the new one with your name and date in the BESH Baybees list or would it feel like tempting fate or whatever? Just a thought.

PS GG re: going to TYF's colleague's to check out his offerings; he lives a long way away and commutes, so is not an option, really. Still, we'll sort it out :)

LadyGoneGaga · 21/02/2011 10:41

Doctor says virus - keep doing what you're doing. He seems pretty ok now. Will just keep eye on him today and hopefully pack him off to nursery tomorrow.

Sorry you've been feeling a bit shit, Pol. Fab though that they/you have picked it up early and are treating it. And like Score says, don't beat yourself up on the breastfeeding front. You did your best and she's had a great big boost to her immune system and you did that.

What a lovely post, Cass. I second all the advice about resting, treating yourself and getting a hefty dose of me time before you get to meet your gorgeous baby, Drom. Not long now!

How far is far, Score? Because if it saves you a few hundred quid it might be worth a day trip out on a weekend even if miles away.

OP posts:
Medee · 21/02/2011 10:44

So sorry to hear about the PND, pols but glad you have managed to get help earlier. Don?t beat yourself up about the feeding; you got several good weeks into BB and she?ll be completely fine on formula.

lou I went to a rather stern but efficient lady at John Lewis for fitting (no appointment necessary). You can try measuring yourself but nothing beats trying on lots of bras. I ended up with three bras, which are just doing me to the end of my pregnancy. I asked my Best Mate, veteran of three babies, for nursing bra advice and she suggested just nursing vests for the first few weeks, until your boobs settle to a new size, so think I shall try that. I am not so big that I need proper bras, the support from a vest is probably sufficient, especially if I?m feeding 10 times a day and not actually going anywhere.

Poor wee thing, LadyGG, hope you manage to get him to the doctor.

I spent last night playing with all the new things that we brought back from my mum and dad?s; Moses basket, changing mat, lots of clothes, sleeping bags, etc. Feeling a lot more organised now, barring just the pram coming next Tuesday. Speaking of which, returned to a letter from Mothercare confirming delivery details, (8am-8pm, no more specific than that!) which had a disclaimer at the bottom that due to public liability reasons their couriers could only deliver to the door and could not enter your property. Yes, that?s going to work when your demographic is heavily pregnant women!

Scorpette · 21/02/2011 10:50

Nearly 2 hours away, GG. And TYF doesn't know him well enough (and of course, is cripplingly shy) to invite himself. Is v hard - don't want to appear like we're saying, hey your stuff might be manky, tasteless crap so we're coming to yours to sneer at it! Real prob is those 2 being typical men - one offers, t'other says cheers then nothing else is mentioned or done about it! Angry I'm just being silly, though - although I'd like to get everything NOW, which is fuelling my need to get all this sorted, I realise we don't actually have to. Am focusing on trivial crap to take mind off fact I am rapidly creeping up that list Confused

owlbooty · 21/02/2011 10:55

GG you could see the kick on the outside?

That is so very luffly and exciting so early on. Hope MiniGG is better soon btw.

I am still wondering if what I am occasionally feeling is wibbly flutterings or just indigestion. Not sure. Am so hoping it is flutterings. Have just had massive attack of Teh Rage at stupid courier company and now am feeling them again which is poss. not a good thing as adrenalin presumably may have travelled and is making baybee jumpy.

Does it work like that?

PerfectDromedary · 21/02/2011 10:59

scorps Is stuff being offered free, or are you paying for it? Because if free, you could always just grab and bin if you don't like it! I'm assuming you would have thought that, though, and so it's stuff you have to pay for. What are they offering?

I'd rather not go on the new list as a) am too superstitious and b) will not know what sex Berwhale is until Wednesday.

PerfectDromedary · 21/02/2011 11:02

booty I have turned my poor child into a caffeine and sugar addict because I found it so amusing to make it move...At this stage, putting ice cubes on my stomach makes it jump, too. I'm guessing adrenalin could have an impact.

Scorpette · 21/02/2011 11:18

Good points about the list, Drom. Am just excited for you!

Stuff we're being offered is free: pram, cot and changing station. V generous, v nice. But TYF is too shy to ask about them unless colleague brings it up and colleague is v laidback and kinda 'I'll sort them out for you in April, seeing as the baby's due in May'. Is minefield, cos don't want to appear grasping or ungrateful, but both of them are too 'whatevs' about it all for my liking (massive control freak, so not knowing what's going on with stuff sends me mental - and that's when I'm not pg and hormonal!). Mind you, am not really as worried as I might be coming across as - just fancied a moan about those 2 dragging their feet over sorting things out. Have told TYF to just accept everything and if they're awful/unsuitable we'll take it from there, but we don't have enough room to house them at the mo even if they're fab!

I am using The Lad's activity to make my decisions for me: Shall I make a huge batch of flapjacks? Okay, if you insist. Shall I do the hoovering? .......... or read loads of mags? Mags it is, cheers!

Of course, I am getting used to intuiting when it's a yes kick or no kick, so sometimes if he kicks when I'm suggesting housework, I know he means 'don't do it, Mummy!'. Wise child.

LadyGoneGaga · 21/02/2011 11:44

Just a tiny little twitch, Booty, but yes, I could see it!

If you can feel stuff and you don't immediately fart afterwards then it is most likely the baybee.

Bloody men, Score!

score could you ask TYF for the guys email and sort it out directly? You could just say you wanted to thank him in person and then email him and say how grateful you are but if its ok with him do you think he could bring the stuff a little earlier as you are madly nesting and really want to get things sorted before you get very big? I mean all that sounds perfectly reasonable to me and if you make a bit of a joke of it I am sure he wouldn't think it was pushy.

drom longer you stay on our part of the list the better from my perspective

Drom and Scorps that is quality advice. I'm off to Starbucks right now Grin GG if that is so then tis a baybee in there. OMG.

laurielou · 21/02/2011 12:15

If you can feel stuff and you don't immediately fart afterwards then it is most likely the baybee

love it! Not really the most romantic notion but oh so true.

My mum keeps telling me to rest a hot drink on bump to make him/her move, I just keep gently poking belly. Mr Loz thinks we are both cruel & should just leave Bug alone Grin. Apparently when I was a baybee mum would just get me off to sleep, dad would come home from work & "accidentally" jangle his keys by me - me jumping made him laugh, then I'd be awake for a play. Not sure mum was too impressed though Grin

LadyG Glad MiniG is feeling a bit better. Sorry, I missed your belly-moving post. I've only seen it once, & its just the craziest thing ever.

I haz been told of a new baybee shop!* My friend kept insisting it was called Eversheds, but apprently its called Edershaws. So I'm off on some "very important business" at lunchtime for a little look around.

*I should say baybee equipment shop. I don't think they sell real live baybees.....

laurielou · 21/02/2011 12:17

Wah! Pliz to stop posting the list! Twas scary enough first time, am now starting to crap myself.

Thanking you pliz Grin

LadyGoneGaga · 21/02/2011 12:26

Yes, but the list is deceptive as we are a bit more spread out now. I had MiniG in May and the thing that freaked me out about him coming soon was when the daffodils started coming out. Up to then I could fool myself it was still winter and therefor aaaages away. This time will be the blossom in May that bothers me Grin

OP posts:
Scorpette · 21/02/2011 12:34

WHY have I not thought of that option, Rocket? DURR! I shall ask TYF for the guy's email address tonight (he used to be in an obscure 90s band which my brother used to like, so I can smarm him up summat rotten!). You are wiser than I (not hard, TBH) :)

Lozza, my folks used to take me out in the car to get me off to sleep when I was little. This may explain why I have insomnia but as soon as I'm in/on any kind of transport I'm actively struggling to stay awake. Confused Maybe I ought to get one of those tacky novelty car beds kids have but in an adult size?

PS Does anyone else's bump/tum hurt when they turn over in bed? Is it the weight or my puny muscles/ligaments, I wonder.

PollyPoo · 21/02/2011 12:38

Thanks all. I do feel like i have turned a corner. I know there will still be bad days but hopefully they won't be quite as bad as the last few weeks. I wasn't going to post anything about having PND but I reckon it is better to be open. It is not something to be ashamed of and I have to get my head around that. Also, if any of you lot end up with it (and I hope to god no-one does) then at least you know are not alone. No headbuts Gin?! Bloody hell... you have gone soft. Wink

Re: the list, BB's birthday is indeed the 5 Jan, so please can we drop the question mark? Ta very muchly.

and yes, I do, Scorps. I'm assuming it's the weight of the bump.
