We live a good 20 minute drive from the hospital and DP doesn't drive so he may have an issue getting back home. He can't afford multiple taxis and my Dad doesn't know the area at all so will find it difficult to pick him up.

Not sure quite what will happen if the induction takes ages and there's alot of to-ing and fro-ing from the hospital.

hotel booking sounds v. sensible given the travel times. not worth the risk of missing out, especially when you consider how quick sara was!!

love today's random cleaning katie. yes, i think it is nesting! i've avoided all cleaning today and feeling v. odd, like i've forgotten to do something v. important. sure i'll be found alphabetising my tins or polishing lightbulbs at 4am!

booked my reflexology appointment... let's see if that works!

just need to decide whether i can be arsed to cook tonight, or if i get curry out of the freezer instead, which is naughty as that is supposed to be for after the baby arrives and not before!

Crystylline · 02/02/2011 17:26

xpost - hello jjkm how are the twins doing? Are you all home yet?

That's great progress that they're off breathing support jjkm, pity they can't come home just yet, but it will happen soon enough. :)

My Mum has decided she doesn't feel well enough to come down, so it will just be Dad. I totally understand, but will miss her ever so much as she won't be able to meet the baby until he is about 3 weeks old :(.

I wonder if the fates will allow me to go into labour tonight.

loopeylu · 02/02/2011 18:24

Hi everyone

2 days late now and had a sweep this morning. Apparently my super-uncooperative cervix is slowly starting to do something (soften...) but it is still posterior which isn't so good. Another sweep due on Friday and then induction on Tuesday.

Don't worry about induction ladies - it ain't that bad. I was induced first time round and went through every possible bit (pessary, ARM, synoticin, small ventouse) and all fine really. My only top tip is for goodness sake, keep an eye on your bladders - mine shut down as a result of the propess pessary. I thought needing to pee and not being able to was all part of the joy of childbirth when in actual fact it was a sign of an adverse reaction to the propess. V painful indeed until I was catheterised.

Come on Jan babies...get moving.

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 02/02/2011 18:25

Poor little things jjkm - my baby spent just 24 hrs in SCBU and I thought that was bad enough - I really feel for you all. Wishing strong vibes to you all xx

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 02/02/2011 18:30

oh, and welcome loopey

CupcakesHay · 02/02/2011 20:25

Aaah jjkm seems like they've been in forever - but pleased they are still doing well, and getting better slowly - and same for you. Can you imagine how amazing it will be when you bring them home?

It really seems like forever that they were born! Smile

Sham about your mum rock - but at least your dad's coming - and by the time you see your mum you'll be all calm and settled with the baby.

And loopey - nice that you're able to join the stupid cervix-sweeps not working - let's all be induced group! Angry Sad Wink Grin

Ugh - don't like thought of getting cathetrised either!

Well - just had first bath in about 5 months - v. uncomfy - squeezed in - water didn't cover bump, and then had to get onto all fours to get out of it! Classy!

(BTW - have been showering! Don't think i'm a dirty cow!)

crysty what did you do in the end - curry or cook? And when's your reflexology appt?

My best friend sent me a LOVELY email - saying that the baby still has 9 days to come and might come naturally... amazing how best friends know the right thing to say! Smile

And my other friend sent a text saying that the reason baby wasn't here today was cos it was raining! So those 2 messages made up for the annoying texts about baby, etc!

Rock - in case i don't check in again - or you don't - good luck tomorrow - and dying to hear all about and promise to post picture of baby boy rock! Grin

Fuzzywood · 02/02/2011 21:55

Just popping in to say good luck tomorrow Rock just think you'll soon have your beautiful baby in your arms.

Crystylline · 02/02/2011 21:58

jjkm sorry to hear they're still poorly, but fab that they are improving day by day and that you're well.

rock sorry your mum can't be there tomorrow, but she'll hopefully be well enough to see you soon. fab that your dad is going to be there. hope all goes well tomorrow and that in less than 24 hours you are finally cuddling that wonderful little one.

hi loopey thanks for the induction info. gl to you too. bubba was the previous title holder for the most naughty cervix, so i'm sure she's happy to pass the baton to us tardy late girls!

cupcakes i cooked!! hurrah! then had a bath with clary sage, and then smeared a mixture of it with almond and avocado oil all over the bump! bump likes the smell as much as me i think (i.e not at all). Grin if this works, i'll most happy, as it's so stinky it had better be doing something useful!

reflexology appt is 11.30, and she's a maternity specialist. i love devon; there's all sorts of fab therapists/healers here. so, we'll see...

if not, it's sweeping time again on friday and then induction on monday.

funny, i've gained momentum to help bump move out since i've been given the induction date.

RockLover · 02/02/2011 23:21

Thanks for all your words of encouragement ladies, I am alternately calm and panicky lol. My poor brain and body don't really know what the hell is going on!

Had back pain and period pain earlier and nearly got my hopes up that little one was deciding to make a move himself, but sadly it all stopped after about 1/2 an hour.

I know that I will be a complete wreck tomorrow morning and don't know whether I'll have time to post before I go as I have to phone the ward at 8am to be given a time to come in.

Have just realised that I haven't shaved my legs again since Sat, so I'll have to do it tomorrow morning. I can't go into labour looking like a gorilla now can I?

Anyway, hope you all have a good night and that some babies make an appearance soon.

Pootle78 · 03/02/2011 00:17

Hello!

Haven't read today's posts, was a little busy!

Checking in with baby pootle fast asleep!

Contractions started at 8.30 this morning, went to hospital at 1pm, missed the midwife appointment! And baby boy pootle was born at 19.19 on 2\2\11 weighing 8lb 9oz, only just got to ward and am snacking on chocolate, breakfast was a long time ago!

CAtch up properly v soon!

Fuzzywood · 03/02/2011 01:20

Yay well done Pootle. He's a good size. Hope you're both doing well x

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 03/02/2011 08:40

Hurrah!! Congrats pootle Hope you had a decent night (or did you spend the night gazing adoringly at your little boy wide awake with adrenalin but knackered wishing you could sleep?? :o)

Crystylline · 03/02/2011 08:43

congrats pootle chocolate for midnight snack/breakfast seems entirely appropriate!

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 03/02/2011 09:11

And good luck with sweeps and inductions the rest of you! :)

RunningKatie · 03/02/2011 10:11

Have I missed Rock? Botheration, well, sending positive thoughts to you wherever you are my dear.

Many congrats to Pootle, lovely to hear about your little boy arriving so promptly. Chocolate for a midnight snack sounds entirely deserved. :)

jjkm, good to hear that you and the twins are doing well. Sounds like they are really coming along well, even if getting them home is taking a while.

I've found a maternity reflexologist, wonder if it's worth giving it a try before tomorrows induction. Hmm

Crystylline · 03/02/2011 10:18

katie i'm just off to see the reflexologist now. will be back at lunchtime, so can let you know!

but, if anything it will be wonderfully relaxing, even if it doesn't encourage bump.

p.s clary sage did seem to have some impact. lots of small contractions last night. probably more to do with bump trying to get away from the stuff though - it really stinks!!

CupcakesHay · 03/02/2011 10:33

FINALLY pootle HURRAH! Grin Grin Grin

I'll update list in a minute! Well done - and good for you eating the chocolate!

Yes - let us know how you get on crysty.

I had a huge row with DH last ngiht - think it's just hormones/tensions, etc.... but all OK now!

Off swimming to try and make baby move!

Also - woke up every hour last night Angry so feel pretty shattered this morning. Very annoying!

And love the description of the night afetr baby born bubba! And how was the HV - is Lachlan doing ok weight wise?
