Good luck with your sweep Crysty, I really hope it works for you. Sorry that your contractions have stopped cupcakes, but look on the bright side, they must have been doing something, even if only softening the cervix.

I have calmed down slightly after forcing a bit of toast down and sat quietly for an hour. I guess the problem is that everything feels out of my control and I suppose until it all kicks off on Thursday I will be in limbo. So much for practicng my bloody breathing lol, I have been too anxious to even think about it, I am going to make an effort to do it later.

I have also decided no more big or heavy meals before Thursday or I will just feel worse. I may make myself an omelette tonight, light but filling and lots of fluids to keep hydrated, anything to make me feel better :).

CupcakesHay · 01/02/2011 10:10

Sadly running i checked ages ago, but they said no - a bit annoying, but I'm having it in Plymouth and they said if they started doing it they'd be inundated with people wanting babies early so there husband's could go back to join their navy ships Hmm

YES go and buy a netbook Smile

Bubba those photos are gorgeous, Lachlan's cheeks are so scrummy.
Cupcakes changing mat is from Mothercare, it's got very cute looking elephants in the middle too (easily pleased me).
Good luck with the sweeps going on today.
Rock hope you're feeling a bit better now. Do you know how they are planning on doing the induction? Friend of mine only needed her eaters breaking and that got it going so you may well get away with out drugs to start it of.
Right more feeding, not sure where he puts it all!

LadyBuzz · 01/02/2011 11:56

sara congratulations and what a birth story.

we do seem to have alot more boys then girls.

just waiting for my first HV visit, see if this guzzler has put on any weight!

Crystylline · 01/02/2011 12:02

back from sweep and i'm the owner of the naughtiest cervix in the pregnant world. bishops' score = 0

yes, that's 0. no dilation at all and completely closed.

booked for another attempt on friday and being induced on monday 7th.

crappidy-crap-crap.

Grin
loopeylu · 01/02/2011 12:08

Crystylline - sounds like your cervix is as clamped shut as mine! Was due yesterday and at the moment due for an induction on 8th. I was induced with my first pregnancy after my cervix showed no signs of playing ball and think it will be the same again now. So dull.

Off for an examination tomorrow morning (they examined me last Thursday and said my cervix was so closed that they couldn't hope to perform a sweep).

To top it all off,I know this baby is a whopper again. Gulp.

Off for a half hour walk now in the hope of getting things going.

When was your due date and is this your first?

Crystylline · 01/02/2011 12:13

loopeylou

i was due on the 26th and yes, it's my first. MW is not that surprised, as he's lying in an odd slightly oblique position, but went into early labour three times between 32 and 34 weeks, so it's so annoying/weird that all is not moving along now i'm so late!

walking is def on my to do list for this afternoon and reflexology.

i'm also bored witless now too. still, comfort is that by early week we'll both be meeting our LOs! Smile

CupcakesHay · 01/02/2011 12:50

Bugger - i'm jealous of you loopeylou - i was due on 30th and not due to be induced til 11 or 12th. BUGGER.

(sorry - hello loopey!) - is this your second? do you know what you are having? what have you got already?

I'm in a shit mood.... only 2 days over and already bored and peed off and thought baby would be here by now. and had 2 texts - is the baby here. grr Angry

And poor you crysty - naughty cervix.

And the m/w hasn't called me - so i'm hoping she calls soon and says YES come in for sweep - but not feeling hopeful. Sad

I hate being in a bad mood.

Tell us how Lachlan gets on bubba - i'm still so in love with him!

Going to look at changing mats on mothercare now! will that cheer me up? i hate feeling down.... i feel like everyone in our house is just waiting for me to pop. my poor dad's on tenterhooks cos of driving and mum's all angsty - even DH isn't sleeping that well - and normally he does.

Also - anyone noticed (god - i'm sure i'll curse her here....) no pootle - please please let someone have had their baby! come on pootle! Smile

Thanks for your welcomes! I have been on mumsnet a little while but have not really used the chat.

This will be my first baby, so I'm having a bit of an anxious wait for something to happen, it helped to read your posts and to know others are in the same boat!

I am due a sweep tomorrow and induction on Saturday if baby doesn't make an appearance. I am hoping not to be induced as the alternative will be a natural birth at a birthing centre where the mid-wives seem really nice.

Congratulations to BubbaAndBumps and SaraL77 on your new arrivals, it was moving to read your birth stories.

Good luck to the others who are still waiting! Smile

RockLover · 01/02/2011 13:12

Hi all, I'm still feeling very sick and have constant tummy ache (not baby related sadly) and I know it's all due to stupid anxiety. Very annoyed with myself for being so pathetic!

Fuzzy, I am going to have a pessary inserted, then that will be left for 24 hours, after that the next stage is to break my waters if possible and the last resort is the hormone drip.

I think I will question the dr a bit more about the drip as I know they are not always recommended for women who have had a previous section, so I am a bit nervous about that. I just hope that the pessary will work on it's own. At least I know from my sweep that my cervix is soft, and 1-2 cm dilated, so at least there is some chance that it won't take much to push me into labour.

RunningKatie · 01/02/2011 14:55

Rock, is it just one pessary or do they give it three attempts and then move on to breaking waters? I think here we get one, if that doesn't work then another 5 hours later etc.

Right, I have been to IKEA and also bought a Netbook at Tescos and I still have no baby. I was accosted by some random individual in Tescos who told me I looked like I was about to drop. At least she didn't tell me to come home and seduce DP or eat pineapple!

Crysty, much sympathy on the naughty cervix front. I'm really hoping for another sweep tomorrow if MW can see me, but after last week when I was told I was nowhere near I'm not sure DP can face me coming out and sobbing everywhere.

Right, off for a walk to the library with DP as the sun is shining.

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 01/02/2011 15:04

rock I was told I could have the drip and the waters breaking, but not the pessary because of my previous c-section? may be worth checking out?

RockLover · 01/02/2011 15:39

I think it depends running, some places use a 24 hour acting pessary (with a string like a tampon, nice), other places use a small tablet type thing that only last 6 hours or so, hence having more than one.

The mw never mentioned that to me bubba, it's a bit scary that each health authority seems to have different rules. I will make sure I ask lots of questions before they give me anything!

CupcakesHay · 01/02/2011 15:49

Ho hum. Managed to see midwife but even though sweep attempted - couldn't do it. She thinks although baby is lying with head down - 3/5ths - she thinks he's lying back-to-back (the bad way right) - so couldn't do it... dSad but heh - at least i now know what an attempted sweep feels like Wink

Bit despondant - going to see her again on monday, and she said we can try another sweep then and then she'll book me in for induction - but couldn't even tell me if it will be for the 11th or the 12th Sad.

Have a horrid feeling baby won't come naturally - and now so desperate that DH doesn't just waste his bloody leave sitting around and then only have 10 days with baby and not be able to see him for another month. Sad

Been told to try actual swimming (ugh) rather than just wiggling legs up and down.... so doing that thurs. And of course been told pinepple, sex and also - turkey (?) - do you think turkey drummers count?

Plus side - 2cm dilated, heartbeat good, BP good. Minus side - can;t blame my farting nad burping on baby apparently Grin

Damn - no free meatballs for life for you running - but hope your netwbook is fab!

Pleased we're able to keep you company for a bit faraway - and once your baby comes, it's very nice to have some friends on mumsnet to ask all those stupid questions too - especially being a first timer. The already mums are soooooo wise Grin

And rock sorry you are feeling so sick still. I must admit heartburn and burping has Shock put me off marmite. UNHEARD of!

OP posts:
RockLover · 01/02/2011 16:02

2cm dilated is a good start though cupcakes, all those contractions have obviously been doing something. If I were you I'd just keep active (like the swimming), but relaxed.

With DD I had no BH, period pains, a show or anything and went into labour naturally at only 5 days over, which isn't too bad. So don't be too despondent you never know what's going to happen!

This little one is very low down and the mw said she could easily feel his head on Sat, but here I am with still no signs of labour. So I guess no-one can ever tell when they're likely to pop.

CupcakesHay · 01/02/2011 16:05

Thanks rock you've cheered me up a bit... and hopefully pootle will pop in and tell us all about baby pootle - either she's had her baby or she;s too stuffed from Krispy Kremes! Grin

If it wasn;t for the whole DH going away again, i'd be ok, IYSWIM.

OP posts:
RockLover · 01/02/2011 16:09

Just read what mw wrote in my notes on Sat and she has written "head -3", I have no idea what the hell that means though. She didn't mention how engaged baby is, so I have no idea how far I have to go.

farawaytrees · 01/02/2011 16:40

Thanks cupcakes I am sure I will have lots of stupid questions for the wise mumsnet mums as I am completely new to all this! I hope your baby comes soon Smile

Crystylline · 01/02/2011 16:42

shal we have a SWEEPstake as to when any of us might finally pop without induction? Grin

all us Devon girls on the late-list... tsk, tsk. it's because we're all so laid back in the country, right?

just had a monster sleep to make up for total sleep deprivation earlier.

feeling a bit more positive on the whole, but like rock need to get rid of the anxiety about the induction.

I truly don't want one, as it will obstruct my being mobile in labour (no more water birth), but hoping to coax bump out over the next few days instead.

rock i think the "head-3" is prob short-hand for 3/5 engaged as a guess!

and yes, hoping that pootle is doing well and did good mooing yesterday.

chin up girls, we'll make it in the end!

oh and meant to ask.... bubba did you get rid of the builders and can you blame them for onset of labour? i'll happily come shout at the builders if it worked for you!

RockLover · 01/02/2011 17:11

OMG, I am soooo fed up of feeling like I need to pee all the time! Nearly bloody wet myself at the school picking DD up and I'd only been to the loo 1/2 an hour earlier.

This baby's head is literally crushing my bladder, I'm thinking of investing in some Tena lady pads (sob).

I am really hoping my pelvic floor muscles won't be shot to pieces after I've given birth.

CupcakesHay · 01/02/2011 17:26

Forgot about bubba's builders too!

And wanted to know if poor salt finally got rid of her piles!

rock i've had tena pads since just before christmas when I couldn't trust my sti=upid bladder and coughing! well over the whole embarrasment thing of it nw - and I think of them like my safety net Grin

Agree about the head.

And let's be honest - my baby's going to be the baby of the group - i seriously reckon he'll have birth date of 12th feb Sad - rather than a nice one like 1/2/11 or 2/2/11...

I reckon it's lack of Krispy Kremes that's causing the Devon girls tardiness...!

Having chinese tonight - that'll cheer me up. Feeling a bit more positive. And like you say crysty this'll all be over soon enough and we'll be cuddling lovely babies and moaning about sore nipples! Grin

ThreeBubbasAndManyBumps · 01/02/2011 19:13

Can't get over sara's birth story!

Naughty cervix crystyll ; must try harder!

Come on babies - we want to move to a postnatal thread!!

Naughty Lachlan (as I've re-christened him) is finding my mahoosive norks difficult to feed from, which is proving a bit trying for us both, but we shall persevere and conquer!! I've got to feed him up for 2nd hv visit tomorrow as he's lost 13ozs already :(, but considering his starting weight, it's not as scary as it sounds, still, want him well-fed for tomorrow...

CupcakesHay · 01/02/2011 20:24

Ok - does sound scary, but yeah - actually they lose 10% of body weight don't they - so you're right - not as bad as it intially sounds bubba. Plus at least his little pyjama buttons won't be threatening to pop off!

Although i can't talk - just scoffed chinese - and you know when you are full, but there's prawn crackers still there - yep - I ate the rest. eeek!

Maybe we'll end up filling another 1000 messages before all the babies come! ha ha!

How are your DDs doing with Lachlan bubba?

And how are the other 2 devon girls tonight? I miss pootle making us jealous about her Krispy Kremes!

And I bet running is too busy putting up flat pack furniture to even look in tonight Hmm

Can you spot the bored girl? My mum is knitting, DH and Dad looking at footie - and i KNOW i should go and do optimum foetal position exercises - but too stuffed to even consider moving for the next 30 mins!

OP posts:
CupcakesHay · 01/02/2011 23:43

Hmmm - very quiet on here tonight. I'm praying that ALL of you girls are having your babies Grin

And even if i'm the last one on this thread - I know that i'll be able to join you all EVENTUALLY - plus i'll be able to benefit from your "been there, done that" advice Grin

NIGHT!

sorry to disappoint cupcakes, but was early doors for me. up at fart o'clock this morning again... grumble

i did lots of floor scrubbing last night and the only thing that seems to have changed is i now have back ache!

i'm going shopping today in protest, which could be exceptionally dangerous to my wallet, but i don't care. need retail therapy and a day away from the house. Smile
