pixiestix · 13/05/2011 16:33

Yay, well done Cherry! Smile Can't wait to hear what she's called.

You're next then Crazy!

crazybutterflylady · 13/05/2011 17:37

Well, hopefully!

haloflo · 13/05/2011 17:45

Huge congrats cherry I can't wait for details! So glad you and baby are well.

highheelsandequations · 13/05/2011 21:37

Congratulations to cherry and hope you meet your LO very soon crazyb :)

Anyone got any tips for swollen feet and ankles? My ankles have vanished and I can't fit my shoes on! Don't mind the enormous belly, and was even accepting that my thighs and bum are expanding, but hate the fat ankles.

crazybutterflylady · 13/05/2011 21:44

highheels elevate your feet whenever possible, above your heart if you can! In yoga we used to lie on our back with our legs up against the wall -only up to 28 weeks tho. Otherwise massage your ankles but upwards only, as it will push the fluid back up the legs and away from the ankles.
And lotions with peppermint in it is good too!

TomboyWife · 14/05/2011 09:57

Huge congrats cherry! Smile

mumnerves · 14/05/2011 19:37

Congrats Cherry! What a punctual considerate baby, hope it all went well x

CrazyAlien06 · 15/05/2011 09:20

Congrats Cherry :-) x

CrazyAlien06 · 15/05/2011 09:21

Hope you are all well. I have my 20 weeks scan this coming week and am terrifies about it x

crazybutterflylady · 16/05/2011 09:25

CrazyA don't worry, the scan will be fine. Try to stay positive and look forward to seeing your LO instead if you possibly can. It's better for you!

Have you thought about whether you'll ask to find put the sex?

pixiestix · 16/05/2011 09:55

How are you feeling CrazyButterfly? Are you more impatient or terrified this morning? I hated the very final bit, I pinballed around every emotion. Have you got your names all chosen?

crazybutterflylady · 16/05/2011 10:15

hi pixie
I'm ok, feeling a bit fed up but am trying to remember that I am only 3 days over and i could have 11 more to go before anything happens - even then I want to avoid being induced.
We are very close to the name but are waiting to see what she looks like (though I laugh at that when others say it! Confused
how are you?

MrsWajs · 16/05/2011 12:33

Congratulations Cherry :) I do like a punctual baby!! Wink

CrazyAlien06 · 16/05/2011 12:49

Hi no not finding out the sex, just happy knowing it is healthy x

pixiestix · 16/05/2011 14:15

We are good, thanks Crazy - Tegs is sitting up and has cut her first tooth so is getting to be a proper little girl. She has a cold this week so things are a bit more difficult but she is getting through it, with much nose-blowing on whatever I am wearing! Confused
We had two names and waited to see what she looked like when she emerged, it was kind of strange as I kept thinking of her as the "other" name accidentally for a few days, but it soon wore off and now I couldn't imagine her as anything else.
Hope you aren't kept waiting too long for your little lass.

highheelsandequations · 16/05/2011 20:07

Thanks for the foot tips crazyb, I think I just need to try and relax more but feel guilty if I sit on my bum all evening! Also feeling guilty that I'm only managing to do "proper" exercise sessions a couple of times a week, plus maybe a walk at the weekend. My books keep telling me I should keep up the exercise but sometimes I'm just so exhausted.

crazya I was terrified before every scan but as crazyb says, try to relax and enjoy it, it'll be the last time you "see" your LO till the big day :o We didn't find out the sex and it's nice having the surprise to look forward to.

Things okay here, have finally started shopping so feeling a lot more relaxed. Now have a cot bed, nappies, moses basket, clothes, most feeding stuff and ordering bedding this evening once DP has looked. Still have quite a bit to do in the house but I can see things progressing so trying not to stress out too much. Getting very fed up with work, just seems like there is so much to do just now, have ended up being back to 8am-6pm in school some days and it's just too much. Wish I could wind down a little in my last weeks but no chance! We have a list of names (about 20!!) but I cannot make up my mind and probably won't until pip arrives to be honest, some days I'm more inclined to one than another then I change my mind. And there seem to be many more girls' names I really like than boys'.

Need some ideas, I want to get DP a present for when pip's born and cannot think of anything to get. I was trying to think of a sort of male jewellry equivalent but he doesn't wear any jewellry and would rarely wear cufflinks. Only thing I've come up with so far is an engraved photo frame for him to put his first daddy and pip photo in but don't know if that's exactly what I want... Any suggestions?

Hope everyone else is okay. I've MW app in the morning so get a lie in :) Hope they measure me this time as they didn't bother last time and I want to be sure everything's going okay...

ToriaPumpkin · 16/05/2011 22:51

Congratulations Cherry!

HH How about a watch? I'll do you a good deal Wink

Sorry for the radio silence up here ladies, been a bit of a long week. A friend of mine is in hospital with complications following Meningitis, another has just split up with her husband, my father is staying with us which is always an ordeal and on Friday I found out I'm being made redundant by August! I also have a GTT tomorrow as all my previous tests have shown glucose so that should be fun. On the upside, I've just started a week's holiday, my dad's away tomorrow and on Wed I'm going down to Edinburgh to chill out and sleep!

I'll try and get back on when I'm back from the hospital tomorrow and be more sociable but for now I need a kip and everyone else has finally stopped moving about and gone to bed so I might stand a chance of getting to sleep!

highheelsandequations · 17/05/2011 08:06

Toria sorry you're going through such a stressful stage just now, sending hugs and lots of Brew and Biscuit your way.

crazybutterflylady · 17/05/2011 08:21

pixi that seems to have gone so quickly!! I can't believe she nearly has a tooth already Shock. Have you used one of those nasal aspirator things when she gets a cold? I bought one but wasn't sure how effective they would be... they suck the snot out (gross!!).

I am hoping she won't keep us waiting too much longer too - I feel very tender around my bits today, like I am about to have a really heavy period... so could be a sign? Am trying not to get my hopes up though just in case it's nothing.

highheels I wasn't measured till around 24 weeks, I think they avoid doing it because they know how much we worry if things are smaller than we think they should be and everyone is so different until you really 'pop'!

In terms of exercise, I did a LOT before I fell pregnant and embarrassingly have done absolutely nothing for the whole pregnancy, other than pregnancy yoga once a week and walking now and again. It was hard at first but the baby really takes everything from your system before you get a look-in, so if you're exercising a lot as well you're going to be shattered! No wonder your poor ankles are sore. But fear not, when you get to the third trimester you can't really do much else than slob on the sofa Grin so you will have to just give in to it!

For a present for DH, how about something that's JUST for him and the baby? I bought DH a running buggy and then for our anniversary a special papoose (he is v tall so needed a 'sport' type one, I got http://www.naturalnursery.co.uk/baby-carriers-and-slings/ergo-baby-carrier-sport.html this ) because I have had so much time with her and he's not yet. The great thing about these sorts of presents is they encourage him to take the LO out so I can get to the gym/have a bath/have some quiet time...wooohoo! He was really chuffed with both and says he can't wait to use them. The running buggy will have to wait a good 4/5 months though, sadly!

Toria really sorry to hear you're having a tough time :( hope you make the most of your time off to catch up on rest and relaxation, lots of baths, crap films and chocolate are in order!!

crazybutterflylady · 17/05/2011 08:21

ok link didn't work - this

bunnygirl80 · 17/05/2011 10:09

Congrats cherry

ToriaPumpkin · 17/05/2011 14:04

Thanks for the tea and sympathy ladies :)

The GTT wasn't too awful, even though she did have some trouble getting blood from me, I have dislocated elbows and she decided this meant she couldn't use one arm (not sure why, I've had blood taken from it before) and then the second time the bleeding didn't stop (how can so much blood come from one tiny hole?) Very sore now and feeling a bit sorry for myself but I've at least had something to eat!

My dad has gone, so that's one less thing to worry about, and the friend in hospital is updating bookface regularly so she must be on the mend! The other one's ex is taking the piss a bit but it's spurring her on to get things sorted quicker so hopefully it's a blessing in disguise. As for work, OH and I were already considering the prospect of me being a SAHM, I'll just have to start a little earlier than planned! Still terrible news for some of the girls I work with who are also being made redundant (one after ten years!) but they seem to be trying to just get on with it, and we've got a night out planned.

So now my GTT is over my holiday can begin properly! My best friend has just text me to tell me we've got a table booked in our favourite restaurant for Friday, and I'm going to my old local tomorrow night, I can feel the tension slipping away already! About to go and pack and then I think we shall have some rubbish films and chocolate Grin

HH I was measured at my 15 week appt with the midwife, but they don't look for a heartbeat until 22 weeks so the procedures seem to vary wildly. I asked mum and she said that she doesn't measure at all, she just goes by touch and will use a doppler as early as 12 weeks if the mother is calm enough. I think it just depends on your midwife. If you're worried and ask I'm sure they'll measure you to put your mind at rest. What kind of nursery furniture are you going for btw? We've been looking for ideas as OH wants to make our cot and needs to get it done before the summer holidays!

CrazyB That sounds promising! Hope she doesn't keep you waiting too much longer.

highheelsandequations · 17/05/2011 18:22

crazyb I'm already in the third trimester, 32 weeks tomorrow! Wish I had time to slob on the sofa though :) Thanks for the pressie ideas, will check out your suggestions. Like the idea of something for him and the baby, will get my thinking cap on.

Toria sounds like you have some fun things planned to get over the stress. Glad the GTT wasn't too bad. Know exactly what you mean about things varying, I didn't see a midwife except my booking app and scans until 24 weeks here! They did measure me today, 31 cm so almost spot on. We have a mishmash of furniture for the nursery, DPs old moses basket (that I still need to sort dressings for), a chair from my mum and dad's house that I've recovered the cushion on and this cotbed that we got with our clubcard vouchers in the double points exchange. Also have a chest of drawers and bookshelf that we already had from ikea. Nothing matches and have yet to see whether it all works together but I have confidence it will look great! Not a huge fan of nurseries where everything is matching and perfect anyway. Watch would be a good idea but he already has his fancy diving watch so not sure whether he'd wear a different one.

Have to go and organise dinner, then going to try and have a relax and an early night tonight, although knowing me it'll never happen!
