Hope Sam is snuggling him or her right now!

haloflo · 24/02/2011 10:41

Hi all, I've started mat leave now so time to catch up!

Firstly huge congrats to our mums on the arrival of their baby girls muser, jeffily, afterivf and mendipgirl Thank you for your story jeffily you sound like you coped really well. Leila is a beautiful name too.

Also best of luck sam I hope it is done now and you are cuddling your LO. Can't wait to find out if the thread will have its first boy.

catherine Hope you get the car fixed quickly and it doesn't cost too much. Like you say its not the time to be without a car.

superpenguin Glad baby wasn't breech. As you are fully engaged now did they say if they expect your LO to arrive sooner rather than later? I am on bump watch at the moment trying to work out if I am any more engaged (3/5 at 35 + 4 - 1 week ago) At the moment I feel I want this baby to be on time but mostly I just want to know when to expect it.

Kpigeon I'm watched 5 episodes of greys anatomy yesterday, not sure what i'll watch when thats finished. I can't face anything too serious at the moment but daytime tv is just so bad! You definatly need a digi box (preferably a recording one!)

Lucklily I am meeting my mum today for some shopping so will get out the house. Medee Glee sounds ideal!

I have a few things on next week but mostly I'll do what all the mums I've spoken to have suggested and rest. I don't need much prompting though, work exhausted me and I was ready to finish.

Purplefan · 24/02/2011 11:34

Hi all,
Hope all is going/gone well today for sam

I am exhausted.... DD1 woke me up at 1am with D&V - I lept out of bed (not a good thing to do in our condition!!) and managed to get her to the bathroom in time!! phew! Then had a very restless night looking after her.

Today we have cancelled all plans and are snuggling up on the sofa - a rest for both of us! Just keeping fingers crossed that she doesn't pass this bug to me!! Hmm

spaceal · 24/02/2011 11:49

Hope all is going well for Sam.

Ended up in assessment unit yesterday after over zealous stand-in midwife started fretting about my blood pressure. Was seen very quickly and midwives in the unit were fab and all was ok, blood pressure fine but it did cross our minds that we'd end up with an emergency c-section yesterday afternoon!

Then after all that I had more hideous heartburn overnight, awake for 3 hours in excruciating pain which seemed to get even worse when combined with BHs Sad So I'm with you today purplefan, having a very lazy day recovering.

Slightly more positively, the first of our antenatal group had their baby yesterday, 8 hours labour with just TENS and G&A, not too bad.

me23 · 24/02/2011 12:16

Good luck Sam
hattie my haemoglobin is 9.5 however I am sure it is just normal haemodilution of late pregnancy rather than geniune anaemia as my mean cell volume is normal as is my ferritin levels and I am not symptomatic. PLus NICE GUIDELINE say women with hb below 8.5 should be advised to give birth in obstetric unit. Also in the research I have done suggest 9.5 is actually an ideal hb for end of pregnancy and women in this group were associated with the least amount of adverse outcomes.
The other really silly reasons are I had borderline TFT very before pregnancy and if early pregnancy (about 4 weeks) gp was not concerned and just said to repeat it at booking which I did and was normal and at 26 and 35 weeks normal!
I do not have a thyroid problme have never been diagnosed with one, yet now at the end of pregnancy they want to send me to a consultant when really it has no effect on labour and if it ws needed should have been done in the first trimester as this is when the risk to the baby occurs.
I know the cons will be wondering what the hell I am doing there complete waste of both our time!
It has made me very angry esp as there will be a lot of women (without medical knowledge) that naturally trust what this mws are saying and will think they can't have a homebirth when they can!
I look forward to hearing the head of midwifery's response to my letter, I have also said I do not want the mws concerned involved in my care anymore.
oops sorry for long post needed it off my chest!

I didn't get any sleep last night felt really sick still do today.

Medee · 24/02/2011 15:45

I?ve started to notice more happening ? lower back pain, and whenever I got up for the loo last night, the top of my bump felt tight, so my body is definitely starting to get in practice. I was also blooming knackered last night when I got home from work ? not helped by then having to go and do the shopping (MrM did offer to go on his own, but as we were getting stuff for my friends coming I wanted to go too)-but I did have a decent night?s sleep in between the loo trips.

bluebeach · 24/02/2011 15:52

Congratulations everyone who's had their babies!!!

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow but feeling like I am going to be pregnant for the next 3 weeks as not having any real signs. Still pretty mobile though and managing to sleep fine, in fact quite enjoying being pregnant and in slight denial that the baby WILL be here soon.

Blimey.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 24/02/2011 16:32

Congrats to all who have had their LOs.

We are waiting for our little boy so hopefully he will be less lazy than DS2 who made an appeareance at 40+11 via induction.

I have finally had my iron infusion, which was just horrific really - have never had a canula and firstly twice they missed the vein completely and the final time when they actually managed it they hit the vein so hard that i felt a massive shock through my hand and their was blood absolutely everywhere. I ended up going in at 3pm on Friday, they started the drip at 11pm, I stayed till 7am when the drip finished, came home had a bath and statrted making sandwiches for DS1's birthday party. Crazy. Having said all this I do feel better although I hadnt felt that bad.

Had my 38 week appointment on Tuesday which was just pretty routine really.

I am completely ready.... I need to order a few bits (sheets some more sleepsuits etc) but just want to get on with things now.

Well only 1 week plus a couple of days till due date. We have a dinner out on Friday 4th and the kids have a party on 6th (day before due date) am filling up the diary in the hope that it all just kicks off because we have things on.

Internet at home is capput right now, so if I am not around toomuch that'll be why.

Love to all.

me23 · 24/02/2011 17:17

mixedmama sorry about your experience with iron infusion doesn't sound nice.

wow after me hefty rant earlier (sorry) I recieved a call from the Team leader of my community mws, just checking how I was (hadn't seen her since 28 weeks so not since the whole issues started)

she checked my results saw TFT was fine and agreed with me that consultant appt was a waste of time and is going to cancel it Grin Also she said they will drop off the homebirth kit next friday and she didn't bring up my hb level once Smile
She is a lot better than the other mws, so it looks like I don't need to send the letters now though I will still make them aware of some of their mws attitudes.
Feeling so much better now, no one needs to feel they have to fight to get a chance at the birth they want.

GeekLove · 24/02/2011 17:36

purplefan sorry to hear about your LO. Cleaning up D&V is something you can do without at the best of times!
mixedmama I'm glad you are feeling better after your iron infusion - it does sound like a Taff. Hope that DS1 party went off OK.

As for me I am attempting to get my final set of bloodwork done only to find that the earliest appointment is NEXT FRIDAY. Why does it seem to be that the whole world and their dog want their blood done? Grrrrr
On a brighter note I am at 38wks so if things kick off I can have that homebirth now...

sam26oscar · 24/02/2011 18:36

Hi Girls
Am finally on maternity leave! only 36 +2 but such a relief. My back has finally given up the ghost and I can't really stand for any length of time. Am very grateful to wilkinsons for selling stick on heat pads at such a reasonable cost!
I am also starting to get symptoms from my heart problem. The cardiologist was really pleased with me when I saw him a two weeks ago so I'm hoping I should get a couple more weeks before we have to do anything about it. It has made me a bit freaked out tho and I don't really want to go too far from home. Have just had a slightly frustrating phone call with a lovely friend who doesn't really get it. She wants to go out for the day on saturday and has come up with a plan for us to go to Oxford so I can get to the hospital easily! I have said I will call her tomorrow to let her know but I just want to stay home!
So exciting all these girlies being born! when will we get or first boy??!!!some lovely names too.
Take care
jx

coraltoes · 25/02/2011 08:10

Sam, what wonderful news, and another girl!! Enjoy getting to know eachother!

Jammie- i think you have to be honest with her. Say you just cant walk around much, and even though Oxford isn't massive, it still involves standing around in shops etc, and it does get busy on the weekend! I dont know where you live but maybe you could suggest lunch in a nice country pub not far from either of you? Have you even been to the Trout Tavern? Or maybe somewhere in Woodstock or somewhere closer to you (totally guessing which direction you live in!). Good luck managing her anyway!

Strangeways how are you getting on? I've read some of your other thread, and saw the twinges are still hanging around. How was last night?

I'm getting a few niggley twinges, some lower back pains, but nothing to get excited about yet.

haloflo · 25/02/2011 09:14

Morning all.

sam Huge congratulations! How lovely to meet your DD and such a gorgeous name. I wish you a fast recovery.

niamh Brillant news about baby turning.

Jammie I went shopping with my mum yesterday at 36+4 and am suffering for it today. My hips and legs ache and I've been lucky to have a fairly pain free pregnancy. I would definatly talk to your friend and try to keep walking to a minimum given your pain! I hope you get to go for a lunch or piece of cake instead!.

I am 37 weeks this weekend - can't wait to be full term. Feet firmly up for me today. Smile

Larty74 · 25/02/2011 09:16

Jammiedodger I feel your pain re: the back thing. Mine's given up as well and have ordered crutches from physio. Sad Not long to go, but I just don't feel safe on my feet some days. Take it easy!

Well done Sam and many congratulations to you and your family! Grin
