Hi folks! I am glad were on the home stretch! Am feeling a lot better since the Cold of Doom was infected sinuses which I had since 25weeks!

OBEM - I wish I looked that good when I was giving birth - looked more like a pygmy hippo I suspect.

Got to the stage where I have to have 2 pillows in bed (one under a side, other between knees). I am SO looking forward to ML - just over 1 week to go, but I am really up against the wire since I have to catch up from when I was ill and was shambling around like a zombie!

doubleshotlatte

I have had none of my 3rd trimester MW appointments on the 'proper' weeks either mostly due to holiday - hope that the blood tests come in before my 34wk appointment 'cause I can't get it done before Friday!

Baby is very active - distracting when you are trying to work at the desk and you keep getting kicked in the bladder.

Jupiter118 · 18/01/2011 14:51

Me Strangeways ? I am also teary more frequently ? must be the hormones I think?? Also have mega spot brewing on chin (the horrible hard kind) which must also be the hormones.

Catherine ? That year 10 girl sounds horrid ? not what you need at all ? hope it pans out ok.

Niamh ? also not sleeping well ? much weeing in the night, can?t get comfy and DH has developed hideous snoring in the last few days (he doesn?t normally) and is like sharing a bed with some creature!!! Think it is just mother nature?s way of prepping you for being up in the night ? cruel though!

Spilt ? nice to hear from you and keeping everything crossed for you for the scan. Keep us updated.

To immature ? 5 cup sizes goodness Shock

Jeffily ? you are v organised in having got bag packed. For my bag I so far have disposable pants and nothing else.

Darns ? lactation how exciting!!

OBEM ? i only saw the last 15 mins, but wish I looked as good as that women in the last 15 minutes.

Bit of horrible morning chez Jupiter. Have had headache since Sunday. Went to GP yesterday to have BP/wee checked yesterday am and was all fine. But paracetemol wasn?t touching the headache and then baby Jupiter went a bit quiet on me. So called delivery triage this morning and went in to get the once over ? was there hours. Had BP and wee done again ? BP higher, but not too high ? phew. I had a fetal heart trace ? typical that as soon as I walked through the door lots and lots of kicking started. It spent some time asleep whilst on the monitor, but woke up and then kicked quite a lot and is kicking hard now that I am home - so staff were happy with that (as was I). Had doctor that checked out headache and after lots of bizarre reflex tests and looking at the back of my eyes I got given some codeine ? brief panic when she mooted keeping me in for monitoring. The codeine seems like a wonder drug and I feel much less foggy and pain is now going thank goodness. Also had bloods done ? so await results, but hope is not an early sin of pre-eclampsia or anything.

Can?t fault the NHS though ? v good service.

Back to day time TV? needless to say haven?t gone to work.

Sorry mammouth post.

Anybody else starting to feel really hot whenever in a warm room? At least it will save on heating (unless I have to dry laundry).

Irishqueen have I got the correct date? and number?

1Catherine1 · 18/01/2011 15:31

GeekLove, I'm driving all my students mad atm by insisting on having every window open in my classroom as I am always so dam hot!! I am there with just a t-shirt and they have their shirts, jumpers and blazers on and are complaining of being cold - nice to pull rank that it is my classroom. :)

Jupiter, I'm glad everything was ok with LO. Must have had you worried sick. Mine has been a little unpredictable for the last 2 or 3 days but everytime I start to worry she gives me a little kick. I'm getting quite excited to meet her now.

OBEM - I watched it last night on my laptop thinking OH wouldn't watch it (as he refused last week) but he came into the kitchen and stood up watching it for nearly half an hour. He actually seemed interested. I was glad. He still insists they'll be no getting in the water with me but he'll be sat right on the outside for me. I was really jealous of that woman - she was so calm and controlled, I hope I manage that well.

I've taken on a bit extra work for a few weeks at school - hoping to bank £250 for 10 tutoring sessions which should pay for my trip to Spain in June with baby even if it kills me now. Going home now - lots of marking that I actually have to do tonight rather than just look at it like last night.

TooImmature2BMum · 18/01/2011 20:47

Hello all!

GeekLove, I am dying of heat at work! No one else seems uncomfortable, but I am constantly overheated, pink-faced and thirsty. The office has such stupid windows that don't open properly, and the heating is on high because it is January - how unreasonable of Facilities Management! Grin

How many people want a water birth after watching OBEM? I do! It looked relaxing (in between the labour pains, naturally). I don't want DH in with me, though - he can sit on the outside and rub my back.

Okay, must go finish hanging out the washing. I abandoned it halfway through because dinner was ready, and I can't leave it crumpled in the basket all night.

Larty74 · 18/01/2011 20:59

I do TooImmature! I've always had it in the back of my mind, but yet don't want to set my heart on it either.

GeekLove · 18/01/2011 22:15

I do recommend a waterbirth as I had one with my DS. I was in there for 10 hours though.
Some words of advice though - it does relax the muscles so if you get in there earlyish (often hard to tell) you might end up loosing some of the assistance gravity gives you.
Also as it is so relaxing there is a danger of the pool ending up like a shark attack in a toilet - hence the fishing nets!

jammiedodger2 · 18/01/2011 22:20

Hi ladies
Have been without internet since new year, it's such a relief to get it back!
It's really re-assuring to hear all your news, sometimes it can feel a bit lonely. DH is a lovely man but he really doesn't get it until the babies are on the outside.
I've also managed to miss booking ant-natal classes (again! thats 2 pregnancies!)and the whole uncertainty of where I am going to deliver has been stressing me out a bit.
BUT the good news is I met the consultant from the john radcliffe last week and they are happy to have me deliver there and also very positive about VBAC which is great. I'm back again in 4 weeks and will see a cardiologist at the same time which is fab as I have just started to have palpitations.
I haven't packed my bag yet but started collecting bits together. With dd I was determined I was going to wait until 37 weeks and ended up having a emcs at 35. My DH had to bring a bag of stuff for me which included my pre-pregnancy jeans Sad
Sill 5 weeks to go until ML and work v busy as two of my families are going to court and I'm trying to get reports written really well so I don't get called to testify.
Am loving OBEM.
take care
jx

Larty74 · 18/01/2011 22:27

LOL @ Geeklove but good to know these things!

Jammie I'm set to deliver at JR as well

sittinghippo · 19/01/2011 10:01

Gosh you lot are chatty, it's a struggle to keep up!

Jupiter I had something similar in the second trimester, and went to the Delivery Suite at the hospital for check ups, everything was fine and they gave me codeine too, as the paracetamol did nothing! They could find no cause for the headache, other than it being 'one of those pregnancy things.'

33 weeks today, and boy do I feel it now. Am also one with the mountain of pillows, and last night I actually slept through - miracle!!

Had swine flu jab on Monday morning and my right arm is so so painful now with a huge red lump and I cant lie on that side at all.
Add to that my DD waking me up at 1am Monday night, and needing to go to loo twice during the night, I sat on the edge of my bed crying my eyes out inconsolably for about ten minutes! Bloody hormones and lack of sleep grrr Angry DH slept through my sobbing though, which only made me feel worse!

Anyway, as I said, slept through last night so feel a whole lot better today, and debating going and sorting out my hospital bag right now... just in case...

Medee · 19/01/2011 10:27

Too my office is really hot at the moment, and it?s not just me, the temperature gauge says so too. But I can?t reach the windows in my present condition!

I was definitely leaning towards a water-birth and every one I see on OBEM convinces me further. Shall discuss with my MW at my next appointment.

KPidgeon · 19/01/2011 11:35

Ladies- a quick question- my baby movement seems to have decreased loads in the past week or so- I'm 30 weeks & 2 days- I know the baby is low down and if I do feel anything it tends to be either side of my tummy. I guess he's bigger now and so can't move about or kick like he used too but just want to check whether you also had a decrease in movement or should I get this checked out? No pain or bleeding or anything just not so aware of him moving..

Thanks.
K

spaceal · 19/01/2011 12:04

Hi all.

KPidgeon my movement definitely changed after 30 weeks or so, it's now less 'violent' and more kind of routine. Smaller movements more often, IYSWIM. Definitely far fewer big kicks. HTH. Oh I'm 33 weeks tomorrow, so this change has been over last few weeks.

Anyone else think they're having Braxton Hicks? My belly felt a bit strange on and off yesterday evening. I wondered whether it was the LO turning, but she still seems to be breech this morning. It kind of felt like pressure/tightening on my belly for a few seconds at uneven intervals for a few hours. No pain or anything and nothing this morning. Wondered whether this might have been BH, or just odd movements.

I'm really teary and tired at the moment too. Anything can set me off Sad - this morning it was having to get up before my OH and wishing I could have had a lie-in.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 19/01/2011 14:18

ahhh lost you all. marking my spot and now catching up.

me23 · 19/01/2011 14:44

kpidgeon if movement has decreased loads, personally I would get it checked out for piece of mind, I'm 31 weeks today and my baby is moving more than ever. so further along in pregnancy doesn't mean less movements but the type of movements can change.

KPidgeon · 19/01/2011 15:03

Thanks me and Spaceal. I think I will.. he moved a little bit when I had a cold drink and again a tiny bit when I ate my lunch but much less than he was. Think I'll call my midwife tomorrow AM and just get them to listen tomorrow AM for my own reassurance.

coraltoes · 19/01/2011 15:57

Kpidgeon my movements changed quite a bit from 31 weeks. Gone are the rhythmic kicks and punches, and instead i get these tai-chi like stretches across my bump. Sometimes it feels like she might even have taken up yoga as one end pokes hard out of the bump followed by te other. So whilst the speed and intensity of movement has changed, the presence of movement has not. I hope that makes sense. I'm sure the MWives will provide some good reassurance.

I am definitely at the stage of needing afternoon naps. Roll on Maternity Leave!!! Anyone else feeling wiped out mid afternoon? It doesnt help that i pee twice a night every night without fail...1am...6am (ok thats not quite night anymore but i only get up at 7 for work so could do without it). On the rare night i sleep through i wake up panicking that i may have wet myself! Isnt that tragic!! :o

Our buggy and car seat should arrive next week. Keen to have everything in place as I know a few people who went into labour 5 or 6 weeks early and I dont want to be caught out! Same goes for hospital bag. Just packed it this weekend and put some snacks in (non perishable)...the chances of not raiding that bag for a guilty snack are very slim. I'll get to hospital and find only crumbs in there wont i.

A lady at work who had a child 16 yrs ago keeps giving me unsolicited advice. i am so desparate to shout THINGS HAVE CHANGED but find i am too nice to smile and nod. "oh you MUST get an epidural" "oh you wont get anything from a tens machine" argh, just cos 1 thing worked for you it doesnt work for everyone, we're all different!!! I am open minded but would like to at least attempt some non "invasive" (not sure thats the best word) forms of pain relief.

Like others on here I'm planning on using the pool. Fingers crossed nothing happens between now and labour to mean i cant use the Midwife led unit in the hospital (consultant bit is down the corridor so not far)

mixedmamameansbusiness · 19/01/2011 17:01

Ah all caught up.

I love OBEM, cannot get enough of it and I just loved the African couple they were so funny.

I used the pool for DS1 although as I was so addicted to the gas and air I chose to get out after a while but it was brilliant for making me feel weightless and more comfy. I was thinking about using the big corner baths this time as I think i might prefer to deliver out of the pool but want to use the water for pain relief and dont want to take up the pool from someone who might want a "proper" water birth.

I think I am going to start getting my bag ready I have a few baby bits need maternity pads etc. DH bought me a lovely Louis Vuitton overnight bag when i was pregnant with DS2 as my hosp bag so am definitely pulling that out again. Alas, money for Louis Vuitton not available this time :-)

I am going to log onto the Asda website later and place and order for all the bits and pieces I might need, cant face traipsing around.

1Catherine1 · 19/01/2011 19:11

Evening ladies, today I've had a pain free day! I even managed to teach stood up for 3 lessons without spending the 4th in pain :)

I'm suffering with the exhaustion too though. By 1pm I'm wiped out and just waiting for the day to finish. Only 6 and a half school weeks until ML :)

niamh29 · 19/01/2011 20:12

Thought I was going to have to leave work this morning at 9:30am, felt like I had run a marathon then slept for 2 hours and then gone to work, instead of having the 8 hrs sleep I actually had. Felt awful from pure tiredness, every part of my body was screaming for bed, decided to stick it out for a couple of hours and was feeling a little better by then so stuck it out till home time, then went into town with my 2 DDs, had a latte and a walk in the fresh air and felt like a new woman. I think the next 6 weeks of work are going to be very tough!!!!

sam26oscar · 19/01/2011 22:19

Hi all,

I thought i was being a wimp this week as i have wanted/needed a nap come 1-2pm!!! Thankfully i'm not on my own Grin Its the first time this pregnancy that i have even been tired so it came as a bit of s shock really!!

i agree with coraltoes about the type of movement changing not the amount of movement, i get mexican waves a lot now!!! also feels like break dancing too arms and legs all over the place, its really quite confusing and hurts my brain trying to work out the logistics of it all!!!!

I have been having bh for months now, its really quite tiresome!! Every time i get up, sit down, walk up stairs, get in/out the car its a nightmare! now though they can take my breath away.

I think my stomach/baby having growth spurt as my skin is tight and have pain under bump and also very uncomfortable at the sides of my ribs where it goes in before it explodes out again!! which i seem to recall i had for a couple of days not so long ago so i think i seem to have spurts every couple of weeks?

Hope you all have lovely water births if thats what you have chosen, thats probably the only thing i think i will miss and thats only because i LOVE water and being in a huge bath like that is my idea of bliss, mmm wonder if i could hire one just to have in front room so can relax and watch t.v whilst water supports huge bump????

Have got 3 weeks til M/L and 5 weeks til D-day Grin

Not getting nervous or anything Wink !!!

PipPipPip · 20/01/2011 10:15

KPidgeon - eye mask could be handy in hospital, trying to sleep while the ward is busy. I'll be taking ear plugs and an eye mask with me. My movements have decreased too lately (I'm 29 weeks or so). I'm not too concerned but I miss the big movements - they were so fun. I will mention it to the doctor just in case.

Spilt - hello!! I really wish you and your lovely husband all the luck in the world.

I love One Born Every Minute. I was huge fan before getting pregnant, too. It is such great drama, great characters and editing.

coral thanks- that is how the movement is for me now too. After worrying myself silly yesterday and booking to see the mws this morning I went to the cinema yesterday and the baby went crazy with loads of movement. Very reassuring! Phew! So I think all is okay. Just re-jigging his schedule a bit here!

Saw Blue Valentine which is amazing by the way. I was swooning over Ryan Gosling all the way home.

5 weeks sam! Wow! Can't wait to hear the news of the arrival.. it will be so exciting on here getting those updates.

I have been religiously slathering on cocoa butter on the bump and so far no stretch marks but discovered a few little ones UNDER my boobs. Arggh! Forgot about that bit of me! So trying to make up for lost time now.

Think I'm going to pack my bag(s) this weekend. Mega early as I'm due right at the end of March but I'm excited already!

Morning everyone!

pyjama day over here Grin I don't even care anymore when my friends pop over and see me in such a state. Bodes well I suppose for post baby.

I just printed out hospital bag lists - might start this weekend myself.

I have been using Bio Oil or cocoa butter as well and so far so good. Had DH check under bump recently and all clear there as well. key word being SO FAR. hee hee. We can all hope eh?

There are loads of films I want to see. Might do a few matinees when DH gets home. Black Swam, Blue Valentine, The Kings Speech.....

Back pain eased a bit today. The brace is very helpful when trapsing around shops, but think I have to retire the dog walking. I want to swim, but dont want to pay ridiculous money for a maternity suit for the next what, 6 weeks!

Take care everyone

Larty v, jealous of your pyjama day but I think with all that back pain you need it.

Also can't wait to see Black Swan. Looked brilliant in the trailer. I'm thinking of joining "LoveFilm" whilst on Maternity Leave to while away the insomnia/feeding hours..
