I think the raspberry leaf tea is 37 weeks.

me23 · 24/01/2011 14:58

you can start with 1 cup of raspberry leaf tea from 32 weeks and gradually increase to 4 cups by term (37 weeks.
kpidgeon let me know how the tour goes, I need to book mine, even though planning a hb things could change.

KPidgeon · 24/01/2011 15:03

WIll do me and thanks both for raspberry tea info.

JoJoB77 · 24/01/2011 16:52

Perine-what massage???!!! Shock Grin

You ladies have made me chuckle today re the hairy leg situ.

I haven't touched mine for months and months mainly as I couldn't be arsed. However I was watching Gok on Saturday and the woman being made up freely admitted to never grooming and the hairs on her legs were almost as long as mine.

So, Saturday afternoon was spent in the bath, carefully manoeuvering myself so that I didn't cut myself to ribbons while not slipping and sliding all over the place. Think I got most of the blighters but I still couldn't reach right down.

Anyway, DH has been celebrating ever since x

Larty74 · 24/01/2011 17:44

I must have ocd about my legs as I can't go anymore than 2 days w/o shaving and somehow have managed to keep it up! must be the yoga. Grin

jeffily · 24/01/2011 18:33

Kpigeon the raspberry leaf tea is from 32 weeks, though some places say 34 weeks. It is supposed to build up in your system so is no good to wait till you are overdue and try it then! Doesn't bring on labour but is supposed to tone your cervix ready and make the third stage of labour faster, also to prevent both going overdue and being premature. All anecdotal though, I don't think there is any research that backs it up. I thought it was worth a try though, and I actually quite like it. Not sure I'd bother if I didn't!

StrangewaysHereICome · 24/01/2011 19:29

Hello ladies

Lovely to read all your news. Goodness it's all getting quite exciting now! Like Mama I am fed up with being pregnant but not sure I am ready for a baby - will I remember waht to do??!

The mw came today and delivered the birth box so that is showing me how close we are - 2 weeks til full term!!! We did some major sorting this weekend and dd's are now sharing a room but the excitement led to not much sleep last night as they were chattering away til all hours Hmm. Hopefully tonight the novelty factor will be outweighed by their tiredness!

While she was here she took blood and had a quick check of baby's position but she still can't be sure it's not breech so I am being sent for a scan to be on the safe side. Saying that I went to the hosp this afternoon for my Anti-D (ouch!) and they gave me a full check and the mw said she was sure the baby was head down. Will be nice to have a scan to be sure though. Everything else is fine.

My new ache is my ribs which are really ouchy it is making getting comfy at night really tricky. Still it's not for much longer and I am getting very excited now Grin.

Take care everyone Smile.

TooImmature2BMum · 24/01/2011 19:42

My stepmother was telling me about the raspberry leaf tea last night - she said obviously she has no idea whether it worked or not, but all the same she would recommend it. Her babies were born at 40+7, 40+1 and, I think, 40+4, so the raspberry tea might have helped prevent an induction, but then again, maybe not. Confused

Giggling about the perineal massage! Haven't tried it yet...not sure if I want to! I can only shave my legs in the shower now. I sit down in the shower tray and lean my back against one wall and put my foot up on the opposite wall. So far, so good. I tried in the bath a couple of weeks ago and it was impossible to hold my leg clear of the water without nearly drowning! Got DH to do some maintenance on my bikini line on Saturday because we were going to go swimming, but wound up going out for lunch and eating like pigs instead. Blush It is nice to know that no matter how much I eat, my bloated tummy is disguised by my bump (if you see what I mean).

My tummy button is half in and half out! The top part is out, sort of - there is a little bump there, and the lower part is shallower, but not properly out. I did wonder if my placenta is lying exactly there and that's why only half the tummy button is out...I know it's anterior, so it could be that!

Only 9 days to go until ML...Grin

PipPipPip · 24/01/2011 20:45

Finally bought a pram! So pleased to have it 'out of the way'. It is a mothercare one, but highly recommended by our friend who a) uses it with his baby and b) is a product designer. He did a lot of research before buying it and reckons it is as good as the 'fancy' ones at a snip of the price.

We looked out for one on eBay, so we have a nearly-new £400 pram for £140!

TMI ALERT TMI ALERT *

I've been kinda interested in this product, that assists in perineal massage: www.epi-no.co.uk I have no idea whether to buy it or not. It is ridiculously expensive but, then again, perhaps I'm willing to splash out if it means my v*** remains in one piece. I've heard good things about it on Mumsnet, and apparently some midwives recommend it.

Two months to go. I swing between hugely excited and absolutely shitting myself!

edeluna · 24/01/2011 21:06

Such exciting times! Sounds like everyone's doing well despite some aches and pains. I've been feeling pretty good, but I think I'm definitely starting to slow down and feel more tired again. Took a nap yesterday afternoon for the first time since October.

Going for my 32-week scan tomorrow to see if my fibroids are getting in the way at all and might compromise a normal delivery. Everything looked fine at 28 weeks, so fingers crossed that it has stayed that way.

Planning to head over to Neal's Yard afterwards and get some raspberry leaf tea. I very much like the idea that many people seem to have that it may shorten labour and am willing to give it a try.

Have spent the last several days washing baby clothes and trying to get organized. Still a lot to do!

I think someone asked about reusable nappies recently. I'm definitely planning to go that route. Someone on one of the other forums recommended thenappylady.co.uk. It's brilliant. You fill out a survey with details about your lifestyle, reasons for using reusables, etc and you get a lovely long reply with a personalized recommendation or two about which brands would be most suitable. The prices are quite good, too, I think, and there are videos about many of the different products. Really helpful! Has anyone else used the service? I'd be curious to know how well the Nappy Lady's recommendations worked for you.

niamh29 · 24/01/2011 21:09

Tired of being pregnant now: while going for lunch I had a bad dizzy spell, only lasted a few seconds but then just after lunch I had to run and throw up, was so so tired and weak afterwards. It's not unusual for me to be sick during pregnancy but it hasn't happened this pregnancy at all so I'm just so drained now and not looking forward to the next 8 weeks if it's gonna be like this.

Sorry, feel like I'm just moaning on this thread lately!

BTW: I must be totally naive but after 3 pregnancies I don't know what perennial massage is or why you would do it????

Medee · 24/01/2011 22:13

I'm guessing that after 2 births you won't need to Niamh!

Jupiter118 · 24/01/2011 23:08

Arrrghhh just lost post...

How many posts today ladies??

No temptation to do P massage here - didn't last time, didn't tear or anything - probably luck, but relying on it for this time also. Hoping it will just drop out Grin.

Hurrah for all the shopping we have collectively done.

Niamh - dizziness not good - hope eases!

Tiredness - why is it that now at almost 11pm I am wide awake, but at 3pm I could go to sleep for about 10 hours.

Work - also only 9 days to go - thank god. AIBU?? Received appointment at 5pm today for my appraisal which is next Wed - 2nd Feb two days before I finish. Boss has known since November when I was finishing Angry I am supposed to get feedback forms from 5-10 people by this Friday and do my own sodding forms by Tue. Unimpressed - not least when work know that I was off for a large part of last week attending the hospital. Shouldn't they be trying not to raise my BP. Half considering sick leave, but don't know the ins and outs. Sorry for the rant, but arrrggghhh.

Body hair - can still do legs in bath, tho getting back out of the bath increasingly tricky. Bikini line though - practically knee to waist beard ShockBlush. Must remedy - normally veet, but not sure if can use when preggers or if could manage it myself (not sure DH willing - understandable I'm not I would be willing). So waxing - is 32 + weeks a good time to have first wax - advice welcomed please??

Hoping for better week this week - have one scheduled hosp appointment - 32w scan and consultant - hoping only time I will need to go.

Take care everyone - hope aches pains and general woes of late preggers not getting anyone down too much.

x

am988 · 25/01/2011 10:51

Hi All,
It is getting very exciting now - i enjoy reading posts - similar feelings about the hair - seems i lost most of that on my legs just a few fine hairs on knee but that's it! I have no idea what's going on on the bikini - I'm pretty sure it is not any thinner! i looked up the p** massage had no idea what it was before you ladies mentioned it - not too excited about it - I'll give it a miss and trust midwife I think.

edeluna was relieved to hear someone else has fibriods, my appt with consultant (+scan) is in a week, so I'm also hoping and praying fibriod is not in awkward place for baby - and that it didn't grow! B**y fibroids!

take care all, & hope your tuesday is going well - got my goodbye lunch with work today - although i go on Friday - seems weird - hopefully wont feel too embarrased!

xx A

gem3225 · 25/01/2011 11:52

HELP ME......... i cant be bothered to do any work. so wish i could go home and go to sleep. feel very uncomfortable. Sad

catherine thats a bargin for the carrycot, well done. I just love the quinny dont you? especially as the wheels come off which is kinda cool. I just need a cosy toes thing but i guess i wont be needing it just yet. What colour carrycot did you go for ?

jenchandler make the most of your day off and just stay in your pj's.

i tapped OBEM so i cant wait to watch it, hope it was a good one.

Jupiter118 · 25/01/2011 12:03

Gem - I can't be bothered either and someone at work is trying to get me take on a fairly substantial bit if work that needs doing by next Friday! Am working at home today though - pjs all the way.

gem3225 · 25/01/2011 12:07

jupiter i am so jealous...dont let them bully you.

you know what sometimes these so called work "mates" just seem to let you carry on like normal and forget you are absolutely exhausted. i hate that sometimes

think i must be in a bad mood today, lack of sleep. Angry

angelbabe1982 · 25/01/2011 12:07

Hi everyone - its getting closer! Was at Drs today as I thought I had tonsillitis and a cold. Turns out I have flu! Wish I'd got the jab now! Tamiflu prescribed and DM and MIL looking after DS while hubby at work.

Medee · 25/01/2011 12:18

Jupiter I?m a regular waxer ? every 6-8 weeks for the last umpteen years, and I found it a trifle sorer than usual last week, wh ich could be due to extra sensitivity to pain, or just that it was all a little bit more awkward than usual. That said, it is by far and away the best way, IMO, of removing the hair and you won?t need to worry about it again for several weeks. If you can get a decent beauty therapist who?s happy to work around your bump (can?t think any would have an issue tbh), you?ll be fine.

Jupiter118 · 25/01/2011 12:38

Medee thank you for advice - might book an appointment this pm and just go for it!!

Angel - flu - yuck - hope you are not feeling too bad and the drugs kick in soon.

Gem - know what you mean about so called work mates. Think I am also in bad mood today - hormonal pregnancy rage of first trimester seems to be returning with a vengeance.

Am enjoy your lunch!

Talking of which...

1Catherine1 · 25/01/2011 12:59

RE: managing hair waist down, I'm still managing to do my legs when I get out of the shower. I can't lean down but I sit on the toilet lid and rest my legs on the cover of the cats litter tray - so far I'm managing well :) As for bikini area, as I cannot see it anymore I'm relying on my Wilkinson-Sword bikini razor to keep it tidy and short enough that it doesn't drive me mad. Since it has a little protector bit on the electric bit I'm not worried about cutting myself as I would be with the normal razor end. That's the best I can manage atm.

Pip, I'm also swapping between excitement and fear. I am really bored of being pregnant though. I'd just like to be able to sleep all night or get to 3:30pm without feeling like I want to go to sleep!! Although... I guess LO arriving doesn't get me either of them. Confused

Angel, I hope you feel better soon!

Gem - Tbh I had little choice in the matter on which pram to get. This was the only one that would fit in my tiny car boot. With the carrycot too I guess I'll be doing all my food shopping online from now on.

I think I'm quite lucky atm, work are looking after me fantastically. My HoD always asks me how I'm feeling and the nasty year 10 girl I mentioned last week may well be on her way out of my class again! And they say complaining doesn't get me anyway Grin

Anyway... time to teach again. 2 hours till home time!

spaceal · 25/01/2011 13:46

Hi all.

I gave up on shaving months ago, and was very embarrassed at the pregnancy massage place last week when I realised quite how long my leg hair was Blush But I figure I'm really not going to care when I'm in labour so have no intention of making any effort any time soon Grin

We're moving house next Friday and I'm just starting to panic about all that needs to be done. We're getting the removal people to pack but there still seems to be loads I need to do before then, not least chuck out a load of stuff that really doesn't need to move with us! We're also putting our current flat on the market and have the estate agent coming round today to take photos, hopefully avoiding the piles of nappies, wipes, maternity pads, sleepsuits, changing bag/mat etc. etc. etc.

Am supposed to working through to 18th Feb but not sure I'm going to manage so I'm thinking about asking to go a week earlier. That feels a lot more manageable.

Get well soon, Angel, glad DM and MIL are around to help.

KPidgeon · 25/01/2011 13:57

Hi everyone,

Glad I'm not the only hairy mary out there!

Me I had the maternity ward tour at St. George's yesterday. I'm glad we went. The Carmen Suite looks lovely so we'll put our names down for that as I'd prefer not to have an epidural- though I may be very naive about the pain in saying that. And also would like to try the birthing pool. My friend didn't get into the Carmen suite at her birth because they were so busy but it was very quiet yesterday so it's just luck I guess.
V. nice mid-wife and a nice relaxed feeling throughout the ward so felt reassured. Good just to get things like the parking system protocol straight too- one less thing to fret about!

I'm on a major countdown. 3.5 weeks left of ML/AL.. cannot WAIT!

Angel- hope you get better soon. Flu & heavy pregnancy can't be much fun.

Edeluna I did do the nappy lady thing but found the info too much! I went for the type that reviewed well on mumsnet in the end. Plus have been given some others by a work colleague who used them so I'm all set- just need to cope with the nitty gritty of cleaning the pooh myself now!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 25/01/2011 14:28

Afternoon.

Quick update at 34 weeks had MW app today. I measured 37 weeks so she is sending me for another scan. Looking forward to seeing baby again.

All the staff seem to be so nice and am up to fortnightly appointments now.

Have just got the cot out of the box and DH and DSs going to put it up in our room whulst I have a bath - not sure he has selected the right help - a 5 yr old and 3 yr old but I am staying out of it. It llooks like it is going to fit exactly into the space provided for it.

Love to all.

Jenchandler · 25/01/2011 14:50

Hey all

Shaving my legs isnt my problem - its the bikini line - I cannot see it! Think I may need to book in for a wax- ouch!
Enjoyed OBEM again last night. I think I maight fancy getting in the water, it seemed to help this week and last week!
Just making lemon meringue cupcakes yum yum!!
