Ooh another one! Congrats mendip x

Medee · 22/02/2011 09:53

Congratulations Mendip, hope you get home soon.

Pigeon I can sympathise, I am not convinced my late-20s brother is that interested either, but I can?t blame him to be honest. My parents though are very excited (well, my mum in particular).

spaceal · 22/02/2011 10:33

Congratulations, mendip - another girl!

And good luck, sam.

No signs of imminent labour here, all feels much like it has done for the past few weeks, though quite a lot of movement and BHs, especially in the evenings.

Just seems like it's a waiting game now...

KPidgeon · 22/02/2011 10:40

Thanks Medee. Sat and dwelt on it for ages then realised I was being oversensitive and irrational- think that's partly hormones partly me! Hope all this hormonal upset isn't affecting the baby!!

superpenguin · 22/02/2011 10:43

oh another baby! CONGRATULATIONS mendipgirl ! :)

Very nicely done superpenguin Grin

1Catherine1 · 22/02/2011 12:07

I second that SuperP, I was wondering how it could be done nicely and that looks just perfect! :) We really need some boys on that list though!! Hurry up those of you expecting a DS.

Well today is a day of forced nesting - if the nesting won't kick in alone I'll just have to fake it. Whole house has to be cleaned for a "property check" from the landlord on Thursday, haven't told him I'm pregnant, I wonder if he'll notice. Hmm What do you think will be the biggest giveaway - my belly or the cot in my bedroom and the pram in the hallway?

Hope you're all enjoying half term / maternity leave! Those of you still working hope you aren't overdoing it. I'm back to work next week but needing my mid-day snoozes atm.

Hello ladies

Congratulations Mendipgirl! Lovely news. It's all starting now isn't it!

Well I've admitted defeat and have changed my last day at work to this Friday as opposed to next Friday. I am so exhausted with all the travelling and the long hours so it had to give.

I'm the last on the list so I still have 5 weeks to go, but I guess baby could make an appearance any time he/she wanted too!

I'm so excited to meet the little one now.

Hope you are all well and having a lovely Tuesday x

Lozario · 22/02/2011 13:17

Nice one SuperP that looks ace.

I went to the docs this morning about the pelvic pain, probably going to get one of those suppport bands for the bump, hardly feels worth it though it 4 weeks to go until due date. Also had really weird thing happen yesterday, felt dizzy, blurred vision and one hand went numb (?!) so he checked my blood pressure too but it was fine. Really weird though! He thought migraine-related.

I've delegated my nesting to two polish builders who are currently upstairs painting DS1's room and testing DS's napping skills to the limit - he's currently in our room next door somehow sleeping through the Polish chat, dance music and clattering around! I suppose it's a good thing he's getting used to a little (!) disruption at this point but I'm really missing my nap between 1-3! They should finish by the end of tomorrow so normal service will resume by the end of the week. Really glad we've got it all done now- the room had to be completely re-plastered and we'd never have got it done once the new baby is here otherwise. Now just have to sort out the newborn clothes from the loft, moses basket and get some black-out blinds up in our room and we're just about there!!! Shock

Anyone else gonna get any acupuncture to get labour going? It worked for me with DS1 and so I'm going to get a couple of sessions in around my due date to help things along.

superpenguin · 22/02/2011 15:06

Hellos again. I went for my 38 week midwife appt today (am 38+4) and after much prodding and poking of bump, unable to feel baby's head, and then listening to heartbeat, which was today much clearer heard from top half of bump, midwife thought baby might be breech, so sent me to the antenatal day unit at the hospital for a presentation scan! Given that I only had a scan 5 weeks ago at 33-weeks-ish, and baby was definitely head down then, and was thought to be head down at my last 2 appts, I was amazed that baby would suddenly decide to go breech at this stage, but it did seem that way on today's evidence.
So off I went. Anyway, upshot was - baby is head down after all, so all is ok! :) One less thing to worry about anyway! Apparently baby's head is now very deeply engaged in the pelvis which was why they couldn't feel it. Hmm

jeffily · 22/02/2011 15:19

hello all,
just checking in. Having a quiet family day today, DD1 and DH napping and Leila asleep on my lap. Ventured out for the first time today with the two of them which was a relative success- although I did have DH with me and DD1 did have a melt down at the end- but then it was too late for her nap as getting out of the house took me at least three times as long as it usually does. I hope it will get easier though!

Looking forward to hearing of other new arrivals. Just watched OBEM on 4OD and was in floods of tears! I want to read some birth stories ladies! Get drinking that raspberry leaf tea.

Better go and wake up DD1 so that she is tired for bedtime later. Love to you all.

afterivf · 22/02/2011 15:38

I have been the ultimate lurker but I thought I would update the list. While I have not contributed to the conversations I have found them very helpful over the last few months. Thank you ladies. I also want to thank the staff at our IVF clinic who made the possibility for us to have a baby come true.

A very happy new mummy!

Welcome and Congratulations, AfterIVF!

emma31177 · 22/02/2011 16:11

congatulations afterivf to you and your family
we needs somes boys now or the boys are being very lazy and will be born last lol

Jupiter118 · 22/02/2011 16:13

afterivf congratulations!!!

Oh my just waddled further than I have for a while and the BH and cramps are really uncomfortable now. Did have hot chocolate and cake in a nice French cafe between walking there and back, but even so - feel like it might all drop out (sorry tmi).

Hope a are well - I wonder if we will have any other new arrivals today??

StrangewaysHereICome · 22/02/2011 16:15

Many congratulations AfterIVF Smile. Lovely name too (dd1 is an Isabel Wink).

Oooh it won't be long til I am top of the list -eek (good luck Sam Smile). I am getting fed up with trying to spot signs of imminent labour Confused I can't believe it's over 2 weeks since I thought it was all starting Shock! I managed to take DD's swimming this morning, well I bobbed about feeling jolly uncomfortable and felt a bit faint and wobbly when I got out. As they were so good I treated them to lunch at McDonalds (I know how to live Wink!!)

So the waiting goes on ....

Superpenguin well done for sorting the list, it's lovely watching the arrivals list grow Smile.

Larty74 · 22/02/2011 17:00

Welcome afterivf and many congratulations to you!

I am relaying the "boy" vibes to my LO whilst drinking my rasp leaf tea. Smile

I have to record OBEM as our NCT class is on a Mon eve, and also was in floods of tears! I don't think it was the content of the programme, but at lunch today DH said in passing conversation, "Do you realise that we have 6 nights left of being a couple?" (my parents arrive one week from today - unless baby does first) And it made me really sad. really sad. this, by the way, is not the first time this has dawned on me, and probably alot to do with hormones, and I'm sure what lies ahead will be the best thing ever, but any words of encourgament would be most helpful! or another announcement would perk me up i'm sure! Smile

ckny1 · 22/02/2011 17:10

Congratulations Mendipgirl and Afterivf!!! The boys really are going to come late now, aren't they? Unless one is in the process of descending! :)

A colleague of mine in the NY office with the same due date as me just had her baby girl (so the girl seem to be taking over transatlantically)! I wonder who won the office pool (yes, our boss was exploiting our LOs!) Wink

Strangeways, I'm impressed by the swimming (and McD's)! I just returned from Pilates and am knackered! MIL sent us a little care package today so I look forward to treating myself to some organic fairtrade 70% choccies after dinner! :)

jeffily · 22/02/2011 18:20

larty was supposed to be reading not posting, but felt I had to respond to your post. I know what you mean, I felt similar after DD1 was born, but what you lose from being a couple is more than made up for with the joy of being a family. Really. The daily rewards of seeing your LO grow and change and develop are massive and it is wonderful to have someone you love to share that with. I have found that having children with my DH has allowed me to love him in a different way, not just as my partner, best friend and lover, but also as a wonderful father. As he said himself, when you have children there is just more love to go round. It will take some adjustment, but you will get there!

Congratulations afterivf.

Lots of girls so far - when I had dd there just seemed to be little boys everywhere. In my nct group, out of 8 couples, we had the only girl!

larty I agree with jeffily, your relationship will change but in a positive way.

I have my vbac appointment tomorrow and I'm not sure what to expect from it - any pointers? Thanks x.

Hi there, just popping in from the March 2010 antenatal thread to wish you all good luck (and congratulate those who've already had their babies). My DD was born on the 7th of March last year. It really doesn't seem like a year ago that I was where you are.

I hope these last few days/weeks aren't too interminable and uncomfortable. The babies will be here before you know it. Lots of luck :)

Wow, another baby already! Congratulations afterivf.

I had a lovely meeting with the head of the UCLH birth centre today. I unfortunately can't have my baby there because of my fibroids, but I got to see the labour ward and I'm confident that I'll be in good hands and be able to have an experience as close to the birth centre option as possible given the circumstances.

I've been so impressed with UCLH from the very beginning. It was so sweet today the way everyone wanted to get me water and carry my bag and make sure I was comfortable -- I guess it's pretty clear to everyone that I could be checking in at any time! It made me look forward to the birth. I also left with a birthing ball they offered to lend me since I've been having some back pain. How nice is that?

AHH bless you BusyMissIzzy thats really sweet, it must take you back to how you were feeling 12 months ago!!!!

Had my pre op today and i must say the aneathatist (sorry about the shocking spelling Blush) was GORGEOUS!!!!! Unfortunately he's not going to be on duty thurs....isn't that just typical!!! Neither is my consultant who i thought was doing the actual operation Confused

I have been given my meds and some lovely surgical stockings that i have to wear...may try them on as they could possibly help with my beautiful cankles!!!! Also had bloods taken and weighed for the first time since i booked in with the midwife all those weeks ago!!!

So all ready to go really!! DH back home from Scotland tonight and we are planning to spend a wonderful day with DS doing whatever he wants before the baby comes...although he wants it to be here now too!!!

Am finally getting excited....but that could be the prospect of actually being able to shrug off all the cumbersome ailments that go with final stages of pregnancy Wink

Anyway going to bed now to dream about being able to sleep on stomach, do shoes up,..sleep (albeit in short bursts at least it won't be a wee waking me up!!!)

Nite nite x

Huge congratulations afterIVF - such a beautiful name Smile

Jeffily some really lovely, profound thoughts from you recently - I wholeheartedly agree! Just touching on what you were saying larty... Your whole world changes with the arrival of your first child, however when you get the chance to reflect on things, probably not till your child is about 6 months old (!), you realise that it's all changed for the better. As much as I would love a date night with my husband, a Sunday morning lie in with the papers or the ability to really enjoy my maternity leave this time by napping whenever I wouldn't change anything at all. The small things that your children do make everything worthwhile. Almost 2 1/2 years after our son was born I still have something (either a funny story, an anecdote, a minor achievement) to tell my husband when he gets in from work about what he's been up to. He never fails to make me laugh. It will give you an extra dimension to your relationship with your DH. I do remember feeling how you are now back in October 2008, in fact DH reminded me last night about how stressed I got about 2 weeks before DS was born worrying about what we'd done, whether we'd made the right decision etc. He helpfully told me at the time that it was too late to do anything about it! I hope what I am trying to say has come across ok, all i'm trying to say is that most of us will have felt the same at some point!

I've spent the last 24 hours worrying about whether i've made the right decision to attempt a VBAC, I'm seriously losing my nerve with it i think Confused

Excitedly anticipating the next arrival - good luck everyone Grin
