Oh hooray a baby announcement - many congratulations to the musers. Suddenly it all seems very real, I can't believe that finally we are all nearly ready to pop!!! I hope it all went well muser and you and bubs are well - can't wait to hear more Grin.

I hope jeffily is okay, she really should have an internet phone Wink. Lets hope we hear some more lovely news soon.

rockchick try not to worry too much, theya re very good at monitoring possible pre-eclampsia - it is eclampsia that is very dangerous, so if they are worried they will probably induce you. But if your bp is still in normal range and the protein is low I should think it will be okay. Take care x

niamh at least you know to be vigilant and lets hope baby turns to a less awkward position soon. Lots of crawling around with your bum in the air might help!

Aw try not to worry about labours peeps, the hypno lady panicked - which is easy to do, but her mum was brilliant I thought -being strong for her. And as soon as they are born you do forget the pain. Don't be afraid to ask for more pain relief if you need it.

I'm still here and have managed two reasonable nights sleep Smile. Everything is ready, except the baby it seems Hmm. The mw has phoned to say she is too busy to come today, so will have to wait til Saturday- I just hope I don't go into labour over the weekend as my least favourite mw is on duty Wink, but hey ho.

Take care all x

KPidgeon · 16/02/2011 09:55

MUSER! Amazing news- take care of you and your little girl and can't wait to find out more!

TooImmature2BMum · 16/02/2011 10:13

Hurray for baby number 1! Congratulations Muser from me too.

Niamh, last week the MW thought I might have pre-eclampsia due to higher blood pressure and protein in urine, but yesterday she said that there actually wasn't protein in the sample after all. My blood pressure is still higher than before (yesterday's was higher than previous week), but she thought I was basically fine because my platelets hadn't dropped at all. Hopefully it'll be a similar story for you.

My SPD is annoying me - I had a physio appt yesterday and felt a bit of a fraud because it was so much better. An hour later, back home, I was suddenly in agony just sitting on the sofa! Can't win. The physio also gave me pelvic floor exercises to do sitting on my gym ball, so I suppose I ought to start.

Still no news from Jeffily?

TooImmature2BMum · 16/02/2011 10:15

Oops, I mean rock chick, not niamh! Sorry! Blush

mixedmamameansbusiness · 16/02/2011 10:19

Wow - massive congrats Muser Family.

Still thinking of Jeffily.

OBEM - the thing is labour can be long and I thought the hypno birth thing worked really well for her, I was yelping like a banshee waaaaay before she got there so I think it actually did help her manage the labour. DH was highly amused as when she was saying she wanted to do it without pain relief etc he was like "haha will be so funny if she asks for it" then she did and he was very smug. However, she did do it without as she wanted. What I liked was that she didnt scream epidural but asked for pethidine showing the other options that are available.

edeluna · 16/02/2011 10:27

Wow! Congratulations Muser. How exciting. All the very best as you settle in with your little girl!

Jeffily, hope all's going well with you.

I'm due four weeks from tomorrow. Have had loads of friends give birth three weeks early but still can't quite wrap my head around the possibility that she could arrive as early as next week! We're still building the nursery furniture, baby, so please wait!!!

My mega-checklist is mostly all checked off, so I'm hoping for a couple of weeks of downtime before she arrives. Fantasizing about West End matinees, museum visits, afternoon tea ... but for all I know, they'll remain fantasies, which wouldn't be bad if it means meeting the baby instead!

Otherwise, all fine here except for some lower back pain that started two evenings ago after a marathon cooking spree. I have my 36-week scan on Friday and am going to a "meet the midwives" event at UCLH tomorrow, so hoping to get a definitive answer about whether or not the birthing centre is an option given my fibroids.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

coraltoes · 16/02/2011 10:30

congratulations Muser! Wonderful news!! Grin

mixedmamameansbusiness · 16/02/2011 10:39

Ahhh just seen Musers due date was 27 Feb, feel slightly more relaxed about not being ready for the hospital dash now.

DH produced a bag that I had stashed away with a pack of 10 maternity pads and about 12 breast pads and now feels we are ready for hospital. Had to let him know that 10 maternity pads will probably last me a day, I remember 2 at a time whilst in hospital.

jeffily · 16/02/2011 10:41

Sam is top of the list because she is scheduled for a C-Section that day. Her actual due date isn't till a week or so later I think so maybe she is just busy.

ckny1 · 16/02/2011 13:23

Congratulations to Mr, Mrs, and Baby Girl Muser and Jeffily!!!!!!! Very difficult to fight back the tears of joy! Am looking forward to your stories, and to discovering who's next and whether we'll have 3 girls in a row! :)

Seems so much has happened after a week away from this thread! Last I checked everyone was packing hospital bags, nesting, and going on mat leave. Now many of us are going through new levels of (dis)comfort, and ready to pop!

Am impressed that some of you are still travelling and watching OBEM! I'm in total queezy denial and cannot bring myself to watching it...

Our bag is packed and we've trained ourselves to use and dismantle the pram, so we're partially ready for the coming weeks. Only gigantic prob is that we will be moving flats a week AFTER the due date, and I am living in storage HELL at the moment, not able to do anything for the baby's room, and living with boxes surrounding me...DH assures me that all will be fine, as he is very efficient with contingency plans, etc, but I would have loved the opp to walk into the LO's room right about now.

Consultant would like to schedule my ELCS on March 9th, though I've expressed to her that I would much rather prefer a natural birth. She is concerned that the baby won't drop b/c of my fibroids...can she really determine that? She said if he does drop before the 9th and I go into labour, then we'll give it a go the natural way. I still don't know what to make of this!!! Confused

Good luck to everyone, and hope that you are all enjoying final days of rest and quality time with your kicking and contracting bumps! :)
