welcome back Honey, the arrows were just to mark active posters, we weren't sure if the non-active posters still wanted to be on the thread list.

Larty74 · 04/02/2011 17:47

Congrats and welcome home to those who start ML today! Grin

jeffily · 04/02/2011 18:19

Hi Shelbee and welcome!

Lozario DD was born at 34 weeks exactly. It was all a bit of a shock TBH, but she came home after only a week in the SCBU and as I type is standing naked with her towel around her ankles watching Waybuloo! She has totally caught up, but it does mean that this stretch is all unchartered waters for me...

Congrats on starting ML Jupiter! It's unreal- we really are onto the last stretch now...

Well DH and I are off out tonight for dinner, we have a rare babysitter and I am really excited, despite the place I really wanted to go to being fully booked. I think I might even treat myself to one glass of wine. And if it's only one I can choose the most expensive on the menu, right?!

Have a nice evening all.

jeffily · 04/02/2011 18:20

OMG, just spotted Wine!!!!!!!
Guess that one might feature more in our post-natal club!

jammiedodger2 · 04/02/2011 19:04

I officially hate my job today! two and a half weeks to go and counting!
I am starting to be quite achey and tired so also very grumpy and irritable. DH, DS and DD catching the worse of it. I do have two lovely friends to dinner tonight (which they are bringing!)so hopefully that should help.
I have just about everything I need now, just want a couple of little new-born hats. I saw some on the asda website but they didn't have any in the store. I might go to matalan's on monday (we've just had a new one open in town)and have a look. I'm going for the cheaper brands cos ds and dd both had quite small heads!
Have decided I will have a smallWine tonight!

StrangewaysHereICome · 04/02/2011 20:35

Well I had my scan today and I got all teary as it was so amazing to see bubs again. The picture was really clear and it's little face and profile was lovely. And it's head down and ready which is a relief to be sure. The only slight worry is that the midwife kept saying the "ooh it's a big one" and "what a good size" which I heard as that's going to be fun pushing that out of your fango!! Where's a cross-eyed profusely sweating emoticon when you need it!!

After that I have been on a bit of a high all day, but have now flopped in a state of exhaustion. The homebirth is definitely on, so it's a case of waiting now Grin.

I think I have everything ready, but you have just reminded me of hats jammie, I must get a couple as I can't find the ones I used before.

HOpe you have a lovely evening Jeffily - I had a small Wine last night and it was really lovely and relaxing.

Lozario overdue is not a word in my vocabulary!!! No late babies please Wink.

I hope you all have relaxing weekends x

StrangewaysHereICome · 04/02/2011 20:42

Oh and is anyone else dropping everything? It's driving me nuts, I can't open the door without dropping the keys however much I concentrate - and it's so hard to bend over to pick them up grrr!! And when I managed it I dropped my phone!

niamh29 · 04/02/2011 20:42

Hi guys, I'm 33 weeks and not start ml for 4 more weeks, it's seems like a long time as I'm still very tired all the time.

I had a scan yesterday and obe said baby is breech, I had a cs last time for breech and I said "well there's still 7 more weeks for her to turn right?" but he didn't seem very hopeful, anyone else breech at the moment? I'm not keen on another cs but what will be will be I guess.

StrangewaysHereICome · 04/02/2011 20:46

Oh niamh there is still plenty of time for the baby to turn. Mine was breech then and has turned. Have you got a birth ball to sit on to keep your pelvis wide? There is a website called spinning babies that give tips on turning a baby and some people swear by an acupuncture technique which I have forgotten the name of, but you could google?

Ah I have remembered now it's moxibustion - there might be some threads on here somewhere.

emma31177 · 04/02/2011 20:54

hi love reading everyone post its nice to no we going through the same things,, 7 weeks to go i cant wait had enough now cant sleep feel sick all night cant walk far due to pressure ohh the joys of it

had growth scan today baby still on the large size weighing so far 5lbs 7oz and baby is breech first time since ive been preg hope he turns back really dont want a cs the thought of not driving for a few weeks would drive me crazy lol

hope everyone has a great weekend xx

1Catherine1 · 04/02/2011 21:11

Evening all. After what feels like the longest day ever I came home and went to sleep, I've only just woken up. Tbh I was a little unwell this morning and was quite sick - I know it wasn't morning sickness resurfacing because it felt different. Think there was something wrong with my dinner last night :( I passed it off as morning sickness to work when I arrived at the end of registration because it had made me late for work. I don't understand why staff tell my tutor group why I am late though, I was greeted with 12 year olds asking me if I'd been sick this morning just coz they're slightly odd. Working again tomorrow - I don't remember signing up for a 6 day week! It is extra money though and I could do with it.

Jeffily, I'd like to say I'm not an obsessive planner but since I timed pregnancy so that ML wouldn't possibly run into the summer holidays and since I'm already planning childcare I think I would be kidding myself. Maybe its a teacher trait, more likely a crazy woman trait Grin. I hope your LO appreciates that you have a schedule to keep and doesn't decide that its much nicer to stay put.

I hope you all enjoy your evenings and weekends with all the wonderful things you have planned :) xx

Niamh mine is currently breech - head in ribs last night v uncomfy. Felt it turn - it woke me as quite unpleasant experience. That was at 31+2 and hasn't turned back yet. Must get on birth ball or scrub some floors. Thought it would be least of worries as was head down and in good position at 28weeks. Oh well que sera sera -hope it might turn though. Hope yours does too!

emma - as well as breech also been told it is big. Tho they said that with DS and he was only 7lb3.

catherine hope the sickness has passed. My MS is back a little bit now and again - the sick voice as DS likes to call it.

strangeways glad all set for homebirth. I had a glass of Wine last night so not having one tonight - just tonic water as seems to be good for not getting cramp.

jammie hang in there re: work - not long to go. Could you take a sick day or two if it's really bad.

jeffily hope dinner was good.

Am generally on a bit of a high as now on ML (well holiday) and no more work. Felt a little bit emotional about it which I put down to hormones. Everything and anything makes me cry atm.

coraltoes · 05/02/2011 07:48

4 hours sleep thanks to heartburn from hell, and no ice-cream in the house!!! Got a busy day ahead with no gaps for a nap either. ugh.

Must say i'm surprised at how many babies on this thread are breech! You're led to believe it is quite rare, but seems more common than i imagined. Still upside down or not, as long as they are all healthy and happy (and not too gianormous emma ) thats what counts.

catherine sounds like a long week for you. I hope you have a relaxing Sunday in the diary.

anyone else got crazy strong winds in their area? I'm in London and the trees outside my house are swaying violently! Could do with them not toppling over.

strangeways great news that homebirth is still going ahead. Are you hiring a pool? Have you picked a room for the birth? I think i'd struggle to know which room i'd be most comfortable in. I've bought two hats but am sure both will be too big. I do have a pramsuit thing with a hood for the trip home, so am sure she'll survive the 15 min drive!

StrangewaysHereICome · 05/02/2011 08:37

Hi Coral oh it's horrid when you have a bad night and busy day ahead. I bet you start dreaming of when you can get back in bed. Hope you have a better night tonight.

Much as I would like a waterbirth we really don't have the room for a pool. It would have to be up in the living room and no doubt the dog would stick his nose in it! Then if I didn't like it I would be stuck for room to give birth on dry land!! Dripping my way up the stairs on a cream carpet to get to the bedroom might be risky!!My other concern is emptying it. DH is really squeamish and it doesn't seem fair to leave him to empty a pool full of yucky stuff Wink.

I am keeping the choice of room flexible atm depending on the time of day things happen. If it's at night I will use the living room (which I did last time) so as not to wake the children upstairs. If it's during the day I will probably be in the bedroom for more privacy and comfort. We have a wooden floor downstairs and I remember my knees hurting (I gave birth leaning over my birth ball) despite kneeling on old pillows. It also wasn't so comfy sitting on the floor trying to bf either!!

Are you thinking about a hb Coral?

GeekLove · 05/02/2011 15:28

Ok folks I have finally opened my Birth Pool in a box. The birth pool itself doesn't take up that much space when deflated. There is also a 15m hose, two different connectors, a non slip mat, liner + spare liner, digital thermometer, submersible pump and a strainer.
I do remember the first time when I saw the strainer being deployed I couldn't stop thinking about South Park and Mr Hanky!

jammiedodger2 · 05/02/2011 15:42

hi Ladies
had a lovely evening last night and am feeling slightly better. I'm a health visitor and usually think I have the best job in the world but it's just got a bit shitty in the last month. Two of my child protection cases have gone to court and I have to testify and I heard yesterday that there are going to be criminal proceedings against one of my mums (who I happen to be quite fond of, don't think she should be a mum, but still really like her) so I have to give a police statement and potentially be be called to testify at that case also. This is not what I went into health visiting to do!
I think baby is still head down. I haven't seen mw since 28 weeks and although I saw the concultant at 32 he didn't check me over at all but I don't think baby has turned. am seeing the consultant in 2 weeks (36 weeks) so I expect someone will check then!I heard that walking up and down stairs sideways can help turn breech babies.
Take care ladies
jx

jeffily · 05/02/2011 19:37

Hi all
Funny old day here today. Had a lovely evening last night with DH and delish dinner- and much cheaper than I was expecting (was my treat) so that was a bonus! Was so relaxing to get out just the two of us and get excited about the new baby and our impending move to Devon. But then DH decided to go to some birthday party thing, I came home for the babysitter and he has been on a right downer all day today. He's really social and last night apparently he just felt really awkward and out of it- like no one at the party was interested in talking to him. Today he has been down and keeps going on about how he has no friends anymore Sad.

Anyway, all is well with the LO, kicking and pushing me to bits! We took DD to the pet shop to look at the fish and she squealed so loudly the baby kicked me in response! Anyway DH is here reading over my shoulder now so I am going to have to go. will check in tomorrow. Hope everyone is well xxx

KPidgeon · 05/02/2011 21:25

Hello all. Gosh- lots to catch up on again. Hope all you breech baby ladies get them to turn. My doctor insists baby is head down but I never feel feet up the top- just at the side so he is in a very odd yogic position!

Bought my first ever car today- yikes. 2nd hand but still the most money I've ever spent it one go. We don't have one living in London and as we're soon to move out to the country and baby on the way we bit the bullet. Feels like a grown-up thing to do! Just hope the pushchair will fit in the boot now!

Just imagining the adventures will have down to the coast and the woods with our LO. Lovely planning it all and dreaming about it.

Hope your DH is okay jeffily

And hope you feel better Catherine- seems very unfair that any sickness should show it's evil self back again at this stage of proceedings.

I'll be very interested to hear how your home births go. As I said- we're in a rented flat and the neighbours aren't particularly nice/friendly and are pretty loud so it's not a relaxing place to be (we're moving soon though-yeay) but otherwise I'd be really interested in a home birth.

Take care all- hope you all have relaxing sundays. xx

Muser · 05/02/2011 22:24

I think there's still plenty of time for those babies to turn. No slumping on the sofa, lots of floor scrubbing!

I am feeling very ready for this baby to arrive, definitely getting more uncomfortable. Freaked out a bit today as there wasn't much movement. But then my belly starte shaking as the baby got the hiccups and I relaxed!

me23 · 05/02/2011 22:41

Hi Everyone,
I just had to cook myself a curry at 10pm and I had dinner earlier Blush had to satisfy my craving and it hit the spot Smile

I have 34 week mw appt on thurs, They will want to do another blood test as I was anaemic last time, probably still am as the iron tablets/liquid really don't agree with me they make me feel so ill so I can't bear to take them.

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 05/02/2011 23:13

Me know what you mean - had a huge Chinese takeaway this evening but then had to cook pop corn (and burnt first batch Blush ) although wasn't hungry just had to have it!

I've had a stinking cold since Weds and am feeling v sorry for myself. At least I finished my work assignment on Thurs so now really only have flat move and sorting baby stuff out. Thank god I'm due four weeks today - although suspect the hard bits (labour and motherhood) are still to come!

StrangewaysHereICome · 06/02/2011 10:08

Hi all

Just checking in - have had a terrible night, waking with pains at 2.30am. I am having regulary BH's with period type pain/discomfort. I managed to drop off again after 3 hours of wakefulness and worrying. I have no idea if things are starting to happen or not (my other labours started with waters breaking first). I am feeling a bit edgy and unprepared suddenly.

It's probably nothing, but I am feeling a tad nervy and excited!

We had a nice day yesterday and took the girls to see Tangled which was very good indeed. We had tea out and DH joked about me going into labour as the last two times it happened after a meal out!!

Jeffily hope your DH is okay?

Muser · 06/02/2011 10:11

Ooh, Strangeways, maybe things are starting up. Very exciting! We are due date twins and I have no signs at all. I wish I did, I'm ready to meet this baby and the thought it could be another 5 weeks is no fun. 37 weeks today, full term, come on babies!
