LOL Hattie i didn't notice that your baby was crowing!!!

Glad you mentioned the tightness in throat Tooimmature cos thats exactly how it starts off but i don't have any acidness..weird!

matalan for pants for me!! And they had loads of size 14's!!!

Chickie funny you should mention tender belly buttons mine has been a bit sore today but i guess thats going to happen when your tummy expands so quickly!!

Well, my sister is home tomorrow evening with my moses basket and monitor etc Grin finally i can get it all set up, and most importantly try and teach the cat not to sleep in it!!

Did i read that there was a website to tell you what to pack in your hospital bag? really i should:
a) have done it by now am 36 weeks
B) know what to put in it it is my 2nd!

But in my defence it was 6yrs ago!!!!

Well, here's hoping that we all have at least a 4 hour stretch of sleep tonight Wink if nothing i will be sleep deprived before baby gets here so will be used to it!!!

Jupiter118 · 02/02/2011 23:07

Sam not packed mine either although maybe more time (33 weeks atm) - have purchased contents but can't remember what actually needed used last time (4 years ago).

Paper pants here. Had some good ones from JoJO Mam Bebe last time so have ordered in bulk. Seem to remember the mothercare ones being particularly tight - ouch!!

Hattie LOL at your request for pants ripping.

Swollen ankles tonight - uggggghhhhh!

GeekLove · 02/02/2011 23:21

Plough don't get me started on the paper pants. jupiter is right about mothercare ones - you will need to buy them at least 2 sizes bigger. I remember trying on a pair and having to cut them off!

Have managed something other than procrastination today - I have finally ordered my homebirth kit. That has managed to account for my maternity grant though. Note that the mini birth pool in a box is out of stock and won't be available until March. I bought the La Bassine one from homebirthsupplies.co.uk

Also if you can go swimming please do for all of us on ML now - tiring but you do feel better for it.

1Catherine1 · 03/02/2011 00:21

Geeklove, nice to see people getting organised. I'm pretend organised already :) I have a hospital bag packed but with key things missing and lots of baby things with key things missing Grin I'll sort it soon enough.

My ML cover told my HoD yesterday that he isn't staying (she told me today and apparently he is to tell the head tomorrow) so my OH has had to spend all evening listening to me bitch about him. He's been there for 2 bloody weeks now taking it easy and "settling in". Getting paid for nothing more like!! Now they have 4 teaching weeks (+1 day) to find a replacement for me. My HoD keeps joking that I should do as they do in other countries and just stop for labour - give birth under the table and then carry on teaching. Hmm Well I hope she's joking - it is getting awfully close now. Just what I need, what am I going to tell my kids?! At this rate we're going to end up with an RE teacher covering my classes out of desperation (no disrespect meant to RE teachers but its the least mathematical subject I could think off Wink). Did a count today, got 20 teaching days left - how exciting, or it was until I started worrying about my kids again.

Anyway... off to bed, hoping I can sleep. Feeling really stressed about everything atm. Work, money, childcare (for September), the future, I'm over-obsessing and can't stop!! If only I could blame it on pregnancy Wink Idk how my OH puts up with me!!

JoJoB77 · 03/02/2011 06:22

Morning ladies

Hope you are all well and had lots of sleep?!? DH has gone to London today so I've been up since 4.30am, just couldn't sleep when he'd got up plus I get up at 5.30am anyway so thought the extra hour would be productive but I've found myself on here!

Re belly buttons, mine has always been an innie but is slowly popping out, depending on how baby is lying though. Don't you think the skin there is really soft Grin

I have a hospital bag, nothing in it yet, I'm only 32 weeks tho but plan to have it readyby 36 weeks.

Only 4 weeks to go until ML - woop! Really can't wait. I plan to do lots of swimming as geeklove suggests. I'd been pretty fit before getting preggers but have done nothing since finding out so am looking forward to it.

Right then, better let the chickens out and head off to work.

Have a lovely day all x

Larty74 · 03/02/2011 08:13

Hattie - love your knickers story! Grin

sam26oscar · 03/02/2011 08:37

Morning all just thought i would brag tell you that i only woke once last night and therefore managed an impressive 7 hours sleep!!! Of course woke up thinking i had laid on tummy/back and suffocated baby Shock

Medee · 03/02/2011 09:10

I bought Mothercare paper ones, so a bit bothered that they might be too small. Actually, am annoyed with myself for forgetting the ?just buy Primark ones? tip, but as I need to go to Asda soon to get my free Huggies, might pop into their clothes bit.

Jupiter118 · 03/02/2011 09:24

Like Sam I managed 7 hours last night - what a relief - obviously no limbs near bladder last night.

catherine work sounds rubbish!

Last 2 days before ML - still denial from some partners I work with 'what do you mean you are finishing tomorow?' Thinking have you not noticed that I look like a battleship and/or like I might be giving birth in the not too distant future???

Right must do work - no more MN until then.

Kagey · 03/02/2011 09:42

Happy Chinese new year everyone!!

Just thought I would pop in to say hello, no news from me to report except that I have finally been accepted by another hospital for labour as my local hospital's labour service has temporarily shut. It is a nice relief to know where I should be turning up to.

Hope you are all well all things considered!

Purplefan · 03/02/2011 11:36

Hi everyone,
Gosh you lot have been chatty since I last came on here!! Had a quick read through to catch up. Gr8 to hear that all was well in scan spilt
Interesting to read about knicker stories!! I haven't packed bag yet and like some of you, I feel that I should know what to pack as it is 2nd baby, but was 5 years ago for me too and really can't remember!!Wink

I have had 3 appointments this week - I had antenatal with Midwife on Tuesday - all well. Fetal heart scan in Oxford yesterday.. and was told that I can have a local delivery as although there is a slight disproportion in the left and right side it is hopefully within normal limits!!! Grin so local c-section with careful cardiac assessment on birth is the plan!!

Today I had a growth scan.. baby is still following 40th centile and weighs approx 3lb 15. I am 34 weeks tomorrow!!

Must get on with packing that bag!!! Wink hope you are all well. Can't be long till the 1st birth announcement!! x

mixedmamameansbusiness · 03/02/2011 12:32

Hi all.

That is good news Purple.

Hattie - the last blood test I know of was 8.9 , I dont know what this one was a she didnt say but just said it was very low, so i assume lower or at least 8.9.

Right need to get DS2 and me some lunch. Chip sandwiches are my current obsession.

Hattie05 · 03/02/2011 20:20

Glad to cheer you all with my knicker stories!! Seems i'm the only fan of mothercare paper ones Smile.

Mixedmama - fingers crossed for you it goes up!

Purple fan glad you've received good news about your delivery.

sam - i hate that feeling when you wake up on your back. I remember in my first pg i used to totally freak out and wake dp up to help me check there was a baby still in there!

Geeklove what else does your homebirth kit contain - or do you just mean the birthing pool? i'm intrigued.

I get swollen hands and feet too. They're not so bad now i'm not working (sat at a desk for hours). I find the more active i am the less swollen they get. Just wish i could make the round trip to school and pre-school drop off's on foot without having to stop and borrow a loo somewhere! Would make for much more pleasant excercise Grin

Larty74 · 03/02/2011 21:03

Hello everyone -

I think I've had my first ever BH contractions today. either that, or I'm growing or LO's head is a movin down,I just feel really different today. I would describe it as quite low, directly middle/under bump tightening. Sound familiar at all?

1Catherine1 · 03/02/2011 23:32

How exciting Larty. Well, I guess it's exciting until it gets painful. Not long at all left for you now - 4 weeks! I wouldn't know if it was or not, you lot that are weeks ahead of me are quite useful as you get me prepared for my turn :)

Got my ball today... my back and pelvis aren't in as much pain but its bum numbing... Glad I didn't get the smaller one as this feels small at 75cm. I'll try to pump it up a little more tomorrow, maybe it has to stretch a bit - then I might even get the tape measure out Wink

nn ladies... nearly weekend :) (for those of us not on ML yet) Planning on winning the Euromillions tomorrow... decided I would like a holiday Grin

OP posts:
Muser · 04/02/2011 10:23

I'd give it a measure to check it's pumped enough 1Catherine, they pump up a lot more than you'd think. My 65cm is quite huge, I can sit at the dining table on it. You might need to keep going.

Well, today is my last day at my desk in the office. Have a meeting on Monday afternoon, but after that I am done! Very exciting stuff. I can't wait to be on maternity leave, it's just all so tiring at the moment.

37 weeks on Sunday, I'm going to have a baby soon!

KPidgeon · 04/02/2011 11:48

Muser so exciting! Enjoy your leave and relaxation before the new arrival.

sittinghippo · 04/02/2011 11:54

With regards to the fit balls, do you have to take your own with you to the hospital? Or do they have them there for our use?! It's just I cant imagine my DH lugging my huge fit ball all the way through the hospital without feeling like a plum...

1Catherine1 · 04/02/2011 12:21

I know in my hospital (The Royal Surrey) they provide them. You should find out on your hospital tour if they are provided or not. My hospital say they have plenty but perhaps on a busy day you might want to take yours with you. I intend to take one of my fleece blankets to go over the ball though just for my own personal comfort.

OP posts:
Honeymoonmummy · 04/02/2011 12:45

Hi all, I've not been on for ages sorry, finished work last weds so am
Very happy about that. I'm now 34 weeks, but have a 2yo so went off earlier than last time to spend some time with her, plus I had loads of holidays. Hope everyone is well, not long now !! Btw, what do the arrows next to your name mean?

jeffily · 04/02/2011 12:55

So nice to have good news from Purple and split. Glad to hear that all is going well with both of you. Smile

Not much to report here. Some serious BH action going on, so much so that I did wonder if something was starting to happen a couple of nights ago, but managed to drift off to sleep eventually and woke up in the morning with nothing of interest to report! I'm finding this bit rather odd as I never got this far with DD, so have never done this whole waiting bit. I keep reminding myself that the baby will be here soon enough and there is no need to be impatient, that I should just enjoy this time with my DD and my DH and not wish it away. But I am such a planner, I just can't take this not knowing (do you think that is a common trait in teachers, catherine?! Grin)

Am so happy for those of you who are now on ML, or starting soon. It has been an enormous relief to not be thinking about/commuting to/planning for/doing work since I was signed off. catherine I totally understand why you would be stressed about your classes, but you do have to start to focus on yourself and the new life you are bringing into the world. I know that I was worried about my class before I had DD, but the minute she was born she was sooo much more important than anything else. It's something your management team have to manage effectively- that's part of their job!

Hope those of us who are still working are feeling ok and not overdoing it. Remember to rest when you can ladies.

Right, off for my third cup of RLT of the day. Am determined not to go overdue as really don't have time having given notice on our flat for 15th march- EDD 3rd! 36+1 today.

Jupiter118 · 04/02/2011 13:45

Finishing work v soon here (this pm) just some emails to delete/file. Was supposed to be writing a business plan - started, but am now writing it off a done, but just not very well.

How exciting - Monday - lady of leisure (well kind of) DS is still going to nursery and a few weeks to wait.

Yippee!!!

Shelbee · 04/02/2011 14:00

Hello,

I'm a bit of a lurker on this thread, but thought I would just come and say hello! I start maternity leave in 3 hours - so very excited to get out of here! I'm taking lots of holiday before my actual maternity leave starts - I'm not due until the end of March.

I am a bit scared by how organised some of you are! I think my first task next week will be packing my bag, especially as I woke up last night with what felt like terrible period pains and suddenly panicked at how unprepared I am if this baby arrives early.

Happy last day to those of you who are also finishing today!

Lozario · 04/02/2011 14:50

Hello everyone!

Just a quick catch up before DS1 gets up from his nap - this thread is sooooo busy which is great but by the time I've read everything I've almost run out of time!!

Shelbee hi there, when are you due? Is it your first baby? If so, it's a really good idea to squeeze as much relaxation time in before the baby comes as you can - be really unapologetically lazy!!

Jupiter enjoy finishing work! You're so lucky DS is still going to nursery - all that time to yourself, bliss!!!

jeffily - how many weeks were you with DD when she was born then? You're pretty much term now aren't you - it's weird to think that these babies can pretty much start making appearances from now on!

So I'm 33 weeks now and the sleep has well and truly gone. The worst thing is my hands and feet burning up all night!!! I think I have that carpel tunnel syndrome or something. I had the same with DS and it went as soon as I had him. Must be all the extra blood. I haven't packed a bag yet as DS and I are going to stay with my mum the week after next whilst we get decorators in to do his room, but when we return I'll definitely get it done.

In terms of knickers - I have a delightful selection of MASSIVE asda pants and Sainsburys plastic maternity ones!! I remember from last time I still needed to wear bigger pants to be comfortable for the first few weeks after having him. Oh and another tip for first timers that I wish I'd been told - no matter how many maternity pads you've bought, for your bag or for at home - YOU WILL NEED MORE! Shock I think last time I bought a pack of ten and they lasted about a day?!

I've had enough now, could quite happily have this baby out please! I find this point of pregnancy quite frustrating - people tell you to take it easy then others say keep active to get the baby in a good position. (Something I'm worried about as DS was back to back) Potentially have another 9 weeks to go though if this one goes 2 weeks overdue - GAH! The thought, the very thought!!! Shock

ok time to get the little monster up now, love to you all, have good weekends one and all xxxx

Medee · 04/02/2011 14:53

hippo I?ve been told our hospital has them, but I am going to confirm this with them. I might still take my own for a hygiene/ comfort POV. Though as I plan to walk round to the hospital (literally round the corner) carrying it might be a bit problematic for MrM.
