Argghhh! stop talking about cake!! Husband is sitting next to me eating a slice of the chocolate loaf that I MADE and I'm not having any. Pesky glucose.
Oh yum. This melon is just as satisfying.Envy

1Catherine1 · 31/01/2011 21:03

Awwww... poor KPidgeon!!

Well after my cookie baking session last night I left out some cookies for my OH with a note telling him they were for him. He enjoyed them that much that he came in the bedroom (at 1:30am) to give me a kiss and thank me for them. He also phoned me an hour ago to tell me how much he liked them and waited patiently for me to offer to make him some more. As he doesn't complement my baking often (politely tolerates it) I have made him some more but only managed to eat 3 myself as my belly fills up quickly, I'm sure he'll finish them off.

Anyone else feeling pressure, I had bouts of feeling a lot of pressure that lasted about a minute each, it felt like someone was pressing down on my pelvis from the inside but then it would ease up and I'd be fine. Anyone else having anything like this, I was thinking bh but it's not like anything I've had before.

Hattie05 · 31/01/2011 21:22

Hi all,

i havn't been on here for ages! Finally on maternity leave now, and time to spend on here Smile.

Totally and utterly unprepared for this bubs, seeing you discuss bags packed etc makes me feel i should get organised. I am planning a home birth, but guess i should pack a hospital bag just in case! need to buy the things first though!

Those of you who are on second third or fourth pregnancies - are your babies engaged?

My mw asked me today if i felt the baby was low and i replied yes but thought thats the case with subsequent pg's. She didn't say much because she never does, wanting to get hopes up or down. But since then i've checked my notes and its 2/5ths palpable and i read that subsequent babes don't normally engage until delivery. Whats happening to everyone elses? I'm 35weeks by the way and this is no. 4.

NIAMH i get pressure coming and going. I remember in my last pg, i feel lots of pain which i later discovered is the baby pushing the cervix. I realised this when i was in labour and didn't really feel the contractions, just the pain of the cervix opening (midwife explained this to me). In this pg i've had similar situations so i think its the baby hitting down towards the cervix.

STRANGEWAYs yes i'm always hungry too! fortunately i often crave fruit - can't get enough of grapes and satsumas. But chocolate and sweets find there way in there too!

Medee · 01/02/2011 11:07

welcome back, Hattie.

Hattie05 · 01/02/2011 11:35

Thanks Medee

Hope everyone is good today.

Can someone remind me what stage raspberry leaf tea can be drunk? I'm going to go shopping tomorrow for all those bits.

1Catherine1 · 01/02/2011 12:28

The ladies have educated me to believe it is from 32 weeks we can have one cup a day Grin Later we can have more but I'd have to scroll back a few pages to find it and I'm way too lazy!

I started drinking it on Sunday (when I hit 33 weeks) and actually really like it with 2 extra sugars. Yummy!

Hi all - glad thread is still so busy and a lot of niggles are easing.

Have been away for a week in France - DH's work plans changed and he whisked me away for a break from work / house move etc etc. It was magical - and although I was over 34 weeks no one even asked for my doctor's note saying I was ok to travel! (just in case anyone wondered there are no restrictions for pregnancy travel on Eurostar).

Now of course have got back to even more things that need doing and even less time to do them. Wouldn't have swapped a week of just us two for the last time though. Sadly he's flown back to the other side of the world and I now won't see him until LO is literally on the way - am hoping that unlike Jack in Eastenders he makes it in time (obviously hoping nothing like that story line happens at all).

Am work dodging - big deadline is Thurs and whilst I was away the project got expanded so even more to do... Must get on....

1Catherine1 · 01/02/2011 14:47

NowPanic that sounds wonderful! Glad you had such an amazing time and a lovely DH!

Also work dodging but mainly because I'm just too tired. I want to go to sleep. I just don't have the energy to do anything right now. Out of food at home and so are the cats so I kinda have to do some shopping tonight even though I don't feel up to it. Also don't know if I should risk it as I was that tired this morning that I left the house not realizing it was the 1st of Feb and my car tax disc in my car has expired :( I've had the replacement disc since Friday but forgot to pick it up as I left the house. How frustrating since home and the supermarket are in opposite directions....

OP posts:
NowPanicAndFreakOut · 01/02/2011 15:03

Poor you Catherine - ignore the tax disc - As I understand it you're not breaking the law as long as you've sent off for it before the deadline (how can they prove it arrived in Friday's post...).

DH is wonderful - but (thinking of earlier conversation on here) I am pretty sure we'd fail the Ikea test!!!

Must work!!!

Medee · 01/02/2011 16:10

sorry to be a pedant, but technically the offence is failure to display a valid tax disc. But honestly, you'll be fine for just today.

KPidgeon · 01/02/2011 16:13

Or get take-away! But not sure you can do that for the cats (not helpful, sorry). x

Medee · 01/02/2011 16:36

Straw-poll: has your innie belly-button become an outie yet? Mine is normally quite deep, so still an innie, but a lot shallower.

PipPipPip · 01/02/2011 16:49

My belly button is an innie, but really stretched and shallow.

Imagine if you hooked your fingers in the corners of your mouth and stretched your mouth out far to either side. That is how it looks!

doubleshotlatte · 01/02/2011 17:02

Hi, I'm back too, again, erm...

HATTIE - thx for explaining the away the pressure I've been feeling too. Congrats on starting ML finally. Week 34 here and I can tell baby hasn't engaged, though MW isn't worried yet.

Strangely relieved that I'm not alone in not being able to eat, heartburn and discomfort Grin misery loves eh.... except that my heartburn and this super-cold (yes, TOOIMMATURE2BE its doing the rounds here too) and cough have now kept me awake 5 nights in a row Sad also looking after poorly DD with her cough...

MIXEDMAMA - weirdest of all was reading that you also have the eyes crusting over in sleep problem.

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 01/02/2011 17:26

Sorry, I also have pedantic tendencies!!!

From DirectGov:
If you use the electronic vehicle licensing service or tax by post at the end of the month, there?s now an exemption for not displaying a tax disc. This exemption covers the first five working days of the month to allow time for the new disc to arrive in the post. While you are still waiting for your tax disc you will need to display your current tax disc. The exemption only applies if applications are made before the current tax disc or SORN expires.

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 01/02/2011 17:31

Also have to admit that my local council doesn't have an exception for parking permits and my baby brain (I'm going to miss having the excuse!) made me forget for four days in December - thanks to the snow they didn't check and (thank god rather than a huge fine) I got away with it... Round here the parking wardens are always patrolling so was v lucky.

Must concentrate on work. Sadly, preg brain excuse doesn't cut much ice with work...

Medee · 01/02/2011 17:59

Happy to be corrected - that's useful to know.

1Catherine1 · 01/02/2011 18:04

:) Forgot my bank card after I left work so gave up on the shopping idea anyway and am eating out at my OH workplace again (its a Hotel so the food isn't bad). I thought the offence was "failure to show" too but its such a joke since it is also not allowed to be put in before the day it starts from which means you have to remember on the day or else. Well, or else nothing in this case as I got to work and back with no issues but I will remember tomorrow!!! I took out a piece of chicken to defrost that I had intended on buying something to eat with it tonight but instead it looks like my cats are getting that instead, I'm sure they won't feel too hard done by Grin

Medee - depends how baby lies. Sometimes its a half innie half outie (top bit pokes out) other times its a very shallow innie.

I think belly is getting unmissable atm. I had a meeting today with a complete stranger for works "Investors In People" assessment and she referred to me "heavily pregnant Catherine". I did wonder if she described every member of staff she interviewed and considered how she might do that but decided it would be best not to comment or ask. Wink

Medee · 01/02/2011 18:05

really, I always put mine on the car as soon as I have it (or within a day or two of getting it!) so is usually on before the old one has expired.

me23 · 01/02/2011 18:22

Hi everyone
my belly button has been an outie for a few weeks now.

I've had a cold since sunday, so have been feeling pretty rough.
Also getting a lot of backache.

I need to make a start on the RLT I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow so will have 1 cup a day.

dp and dd are going to visit his family in somerset for the weekend in 3 weeks, would like to go but I'll be 36 weeks then so will see how I feel.
I went to primark and bought a cheap bra and it is way too tight I could hardly breathe it was a 40 C!

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 01/02/2011 19:34

Just checked my belly button - it's gone from inny till about Christmas (30 weeks) to flatty and can only be last couple of days (35 weeks) it's pushed out a bit more. Still not a full on outy (I've noticed some people's through their jumpers but can't with my own) - could that still happen?

God, all this talk of innys and outys makes me feel vie started on nonsense baby talk already!!

Hattie05 · 01/02/2011 21:04

Hi all,

Doublehotlatte - no I think theres no concerns for babies that aren't engaged - some don't until birth. I was just curious that mine is so engaged already - and that the midwife had commented on it. wondered if it meant i could get an early surprise!??

Althought i know from experience its very dangerous to allow my brain to think that cos 5 weeks is a long wait now!

My belly button just becomes smooth with the rest of my tummy. Never actually pokes out.

Thanks for the info on RLT i must definitely buy some tomorrow! I actually like the taste of it without sugar, despite always taking sugar in ordinary tea. I enjoy gallons of RLT whilst pregnant and then can't stand the smell of it afterwards Smile I swear it has helped me have good births in the past though so totally recommend it.

Did everyone watch One born every minute last night? Loved the happy birth for that 18 year old girl - makes me really look forward to doing it all again! But how sickly were the singing couple? I was cringing.

sam26oscar · 01/02/2011 22:17

Hattie i'm with you on the just flat belly button, i think it looks like a stretched a*hole myself but maybe thats my sick sense of humour!!!

I inadverdently drove to work yesterday not realising i hadn't renewed the car insurance. I knew i was meant to do something in the morning but i just couldn't remember what Shock

All ticking along nicely at the moment Grin

Hattie05 · 01/02/2011 23:47

Ha ha yes could be good description!

I wouldn't worry about your cars - i'm so forgetful, most years i forget one or the other. My MOT was originally February, year by year i'd be late in doing it until eventually it became August! Blush. Thank god my car insurance renew automatically - although must remember i need to shop around for cheaper.........mines due this month!
