Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Your post made me chuckle spilt - I said the exact thing about instant hunger to DH about 2 hours ago! I literally go from feeling fine to about-to-pass-out-i'm-so-hungry-give-me-food-NOW in the space of minutes.

This evening's effort was whilst we were in sainsburys! I was just picking up anything and everything I fancied - including pudding rice (have been really fancying homemade rice pudding - haven't had it in at least 10 years). I made it to the checkout before I tucked into a box of chocolate cornflake cakes that I convinced DH the babies REALLY needed for their development. DH was not impressed with the babies' choices when it came to paying and we / i'd managed to spend £97 on food that will prob only last us til Wednesday!!

Had a good day at work - pregnancy risk assessment meeting with my manager. Basically, my employer can't minimise all the potential risks to me at work (work for county council as a social worker - fairly hazardous at times) so, as of Monday, I am home based!! hurrah! They've basically given me carte blanche to work around my needs - if I need a midday nap then I can turn my phone off, I'll do visits in mornings and then work-from-bed in the afternoon. I'm very lucky!! The bit I'm most looking forward to is being able to wear jogging bottoms and loose-fitting-everything whilst working! Grin

LittleBeaut · 14/01/2011 20:08

Aw thats lovely new Hersetta!! Really pleased for you. I have my scan next Friday I will be 12+2 when I go - unless they change mine like they seem to be doing with alot of you guys eh?? All day today I have been clock watching, this time next week I'll be getting ready. This time next week I'll be on my way to the hospital etc... how crazy mad am I??

So came to the conclusion today that mum isnt pleased in the slightest that there's going to be a new baby in the family, when I thought she had taken it well and in honesty she loves babies so dont know what her problem is but everytime it was mentioned my someone today she pulled a face like sucking lemons. I have found a pushchair that I love online showed her and she said "Er... you will make do with what Louise (my cousin) and Olivia (her friends daugher) give you!!" I pointed out that Louise and Olivia's babies will not even be 1 when I have my baby so think they may still be using their stuff anyhow. Angry And the last time I checked I was 30 and could do and buy what I wanted without asking permission from my mum... which I werent asking for I was showing her because I thought she might be a little bit interested. Sorry ramble - I blame the hormones... totally!! Blush

KLou111 · 14/01/2011 20:17

WTF LittleBeaut no way!!! May just be sinking in still with your mum x

nickstermum · 14/01/2011 20:18

little thats just awful! Why would she not want you to have another baby? Oooh you are about 3 days in front of me i think. I have scan a week on monday and i think i will be 12 + 5 ish. or maybe not thinking about it? 10 + 3 now...? oh who knows!!

LittleBeaut · 14/01/2011 20:25

hahaha nicks I'm 11+2 now and due 3rd August... seems ages away dont it?? Like I say unless they move me forward too in which case your all stuck with me too cos I'm going no where!!

I dont think its sinking in with her because she has known since I found out at 4(ish) weeks. She mentions it in the long term sense but clearly from todays reaction she isnt pleased/looking forward to it Sad. Its probably because she knows how much hard work I'm in for, my boys are 7 & 8 and I will have a new baby in 7(ish) months and doing it on my own isnt going to be easy I know that!! But... people have go through alot worse so I will defo get through this... wont I?? Confused

MrsChemist · 14/01/2011 20:28

Oh no! I'm stuck in a sickness/hunger loop! I feel too sick to venture into the kitchen, but I'm sick because I've not eaten. Damn damn damn!

LittleBeaut · 14/01/2011 20:31

Oooh MrsChemist I feel for you chicky. Try grab some biscuits or something... anything

MrsChemist · 14/01/2011 20:43

I have a jar of beetroot that was in the living room. It's working, sort of.

I'm sure your mum will come round eventually LittleBeaut and I'm sure you'll cope just fine with three Smile

Firawla · 14/01/2011 20:44

little beaut do you have any idea why she is being like that? that would really piss me off tbh, hope she comes round and starts being nice about it

as for apetite im with the constantly eating people, had booking in apt this evening and when she weighed me i've put on 6kg!! which is like half a stone... seems like a lot considering only 10 weeks, hopefully i will cut down the munching alot more once nausea has gone completely, and need to get back to some proper exercise

but booking in apt went well, im having this one at a different hospital (decided to go for nearest one as i had my others at uch slightly further away) now im thinking why didnt i just have all of them here, although i was v happy with uch but this one seems quite a bit smaller and friendlier, i think will be seeing the same midwife when i go back which will be nice a bit of continuity, which never got at uch as it is so massive. and she said if everything goes fine then will be allowed to use birthing centre which i am really happy with because for some reason i thought they may be picky about whether or not you can use it, but it is an all new birth centre and it sounds soo nice, i really want to go there so hoping all will go smoothly and i can.

so now just looking forward to scan in another couple of weeks

LittleBeaut · 14/01/2011 21:15

She is pissing me off Firawla but what can I do... she's my mum. I did however show my 18 year old sister the pushchair/travel system and she was interested and sort of mentioned it to mum last night and think she got pretty much the same response as me Confused

Maybe at the scan next Friday she will be feeling it a bit more. Although dont know how long I'm going to be there as I have scan, nuchal and bloods and she's coming in her lunch - she a work-a-holic!!

A few question for those in the know Grin

How long are you there if having the scan and bloods??
How have you that have had your scans managed keeping hold of the 1.5pints of water and having it finished and hour before the scan?? I cant go half hour with out having a wee, how am I going to manage 1.5 pints of water and having it finished an hour before the scan Confused

spilttheteaagain · 14/01/2011 21:49

Oh MrsChemist you poor thing. I know that misery loop only too well. My top tip is always to start with fruit juice or lemonade to take the edge of the sickness and get a bit of sugar back in so you feel more able to eat something.

Thanks nix, glad it's not just me who is ok with the pregnant thing but doesn't make the link to the baby idea...

I was stunned to see this evening definite bump shape appearing. I seem to pop a bit after tea - I guess because my stomach has less space to expand internally so it just sticks out. DH is convinced it is twins Confused. Honestly my nerves are that frayed already I'm not sure I could cope with a multiple pregnancy right now! ... would need a lie down.

MrsStevo result! I bet you are chuffed with your work arrangements. I am Envy at the thought of the freedom for a quick nap/lie down. I keep speculatively eyeing up quieter places at work and wondering if I could sleep in them, but none of them are any good for actually lying down which is what I really want.

LittleBeaut sorry your mum is being so off. I would be put out by that too.

PrettyVacant1 · 14/01/2011 22:24

MrsStevo excellent result re your working, you'll need it with two!
I tried to rest my eyes hidden away in the office the other day, for all of 4 mins peace that I managed to get.

LittleBeaut I'm sure you will be fine with three and I hope your Mum comes round to the idea soon.

Grin at MrsChemist's beetroot that happened to be in the living room.
I ate half a jar of pickled onions on the train the other day.
It was a choice between opening them or the Branflakes.
I really thought I'd be able to manage the hour journey home without ransacking the shopping.

It's sad to see a few of us apprehensive about these stages, I always thought it would be such a joy.
I'm not really one for baby dust and hand holding,I hope we can all support each other through manic wibbles and get fat for summer.

Firawla · 14/01/2011 22:48

littlebeaut with my other 2 i would be there agesss for the scans they never do it at the time of your apt, tend to hang around ages but not sure whether that depends on the hosp.
then if the baby is not in the right position to see everything you have to drink and eat snack walk around for ages and go back in, but if in the right position and going straight in i dont think it would take all that long. so hard to tell really? possibly able to do it in lunch hour providing the hospital is pretty near?

nickstermum · 15/01/2011 08:32

PMSL at the pickled onions i keep sneaking in the fridge to raid the jar with a fork!!

Told you spilt, your symptoms have been so severe!! Oooh get that scan booked Grin

mrsS thats a proper company,,, i cant recall mine even doing the risk assessment!!

MrsVidic · 15/01/2011 11:29

Hello Ladies,

Ca someone please dd me- I'm not n the list yet Grin Im 27, have a 18 month old dd, live in cheshire and am due on the 10th!

I am so with the non- stop- have- to- eat- immediatley brigade. Luckily as I have a toddler I always have snacks on me. I do however feel a tad ridicolous eating toddler packets of raisens in public though. Blush

littlebeaut your mum sounds as if she's having a hard time accepting things- but it is just her- she has to deal with this not you- its her issue iyswim. Its really difficult when parents behave insensativley and unlike we usually expect. However, they are human and make mistakes- I'm sure she will come around. You are doing nothing wrong, don't let her issues hurt you.

MrsStevo I have just been to asda and have bought so much nibbling food and not many meals as I just could not be bothered!

Anyway I am going to take my dd swimming this afternoon and try to pretend I'm excersizing as I just can't be bothered to run today, lol!

littlemisslozza · 15/01/2011 12:23

I had my booking appointment this morning at the hospital. It was with the same community midwife I had when expecting DS2 which was nice. I felt sooooo excited being back there! I love those first days postnatally being with the new baby, and having nothing to do but breastfeed and cuddle whilst enjoying visitors (and not having to look after them!). Such a special time and can't wait until August now, combined with some sadness that this is likely to be the last time so I really must enjoy every moment as they are not tiny newborns for long. I stayed in for 6 days after DS1 (traumatic forceps delivery due to shoulder dystocia and subsequent problems feeding meant DS1 took this long to feed properly) and 4 days after DS2 (elective caesarean) but all being well I should be able to come home after about 3-4 days next time, I'll be having another ELCS.

One change that has happened since my last baby is that they are now doing the nuchal scan as standard. I've never had one before as you had to have it done privately and as I was only in my mid twenties the risk was low anyway. I am thirty soon so the risk is still quite low, but I'll be interested to see how it's done and it's nice to have 'firsts' when it's your third baby! Fingers cressed all will be well a week on Tuesday when I have my scan.

littlebeaut sorry to hear that your mum is being a bit negative. My MIL has been the only person who is not particularly excited, she said 'is that a good idea?' when DH told his parents. We were quite shocked but she'll come round and she's a lovely grandparent to our two DS's so I'm sure once the baby arrives this silliness will be forgotten. All the other grandparents are really excited thankfully!

I'll add you Mrsvidic. We share the same due date by the way. I have also been eating non-stop, although thankfully the nausea is starting to wear off as I have already put on half a stone, not a good start! Oh well, if you can't indulge during pregnancy when can you?!

Waves to mrs v, I'm in Cheshire too :)

My goodness, that's quite a list. Have posted before but didn't get round to adding myself. Have done now.

Thanks to those who replied to my post on the previous thread re bras. Am going to go and measured for something that actually fits this weekend.

I now have a date for my first booking appt. Was starting to get a bit neurotic that I'd been lost in the system and chased the midwife. Now have appt next Saturday. Makes it all seem a bit more real somehow.

Like many of you my eating habits are getting more and more mental. I now can not face any kind of meat apart from beef, which I am loving. And I have decided potatoes, in any form, are glorious and even bought potato waffles for snacking on. Poor, poor DH is having to do nearly all the cooking and is trying his best to cater to my insanity.

sleepyowl you did make me laugh with the potato waffles. I give them to my boys but am now thinking Hmm potato waffles with fish in butter sauce (yeah the boil in the bag ones are my craving if you've not seen my other posts) and thinking how early I can raid the freezer for tea. But in honesty I'm finding that if anyone mentions food for any kind, whether I actually like it or not... I want it!! I cant eat much on it once I have it but... I really really want to eat, and I have an excuse to, its just food and drink is not going down at the minute. Like now, sat here typing this I realise I havent actally had a drink all day and I've been up since 8am. Flicking the kettle on is usually the first thing I do on a morning... usually wish you could still get tea's maids haha x

oh lord, fish. Excuse me while I go and vomit! Can't stand the idea at the moment. We've recorded the Hugh's Fish fight off of the TV and I can't bear to watch it yet because the thought of fish makes me go all pukey!
