Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
nickstermum · 17/01/2011 11:00

ladyG well done on announcing it....you're not FAT you're PREGNANT!!!!! Grin

I am not going to announce it this time. I had to unannounce it last time so let people wonder!!! They can ask me when i start to show. At the min i am just fat all over Grin

SMummyS · 17/01/2011 11:13

I'm going to tell work after my scan, I've got my scan then a week off so il tell them on my return. They know I'm having check ups because of my cyst. My prob is I'm only employed till aug and I'm due 2 days before contract is up but it means they're still gonna have to pay me SMP... So I'm dreading telling them as I'm leaving them up shit creak to go on ML.

davidtennantsmistress · 17/01/2011 11:27

Annie - good luck, and fingers crossed, sorry your epu wasn't very helpful.

smummy - try not to worry too much, sometimes the baby will ahve a bit of a grow more so some weeks than others - fingers crossed it will settle down for the next scan. FWIW with DS they put me 5 days ahead of where I should have been (like you had only done it the once) and he was born 8 odd days ahead of that, so try not to worry too much. :)

litle b - did you have your sarnie?

ladyg - well done you for announcing it. :)

atm i'm off food again. roll on next tues I say when it's more real after the MW apt. ps thanks for the drink/sugery tip on the scan - never thought of that before.

LittleBeaut · 17/01/2011 12:02

Hey y'all well...

I didnt give in the my butty craving last night because I thought that if I did I would just be up with heartburn all night - not nice!!

Re the scan thing smummy I went to my EPU after a car crash at the beginning of Dec, up to then I didnt have a clue about my dates as I have PCOS so had not a period for about 4 months. They told me there that I was about 6 weeks but its difficult to get measurement and my proper dating scan at 12(ish) weeks will give me more of an idea. So my scan is on Friday (4 more sleeps Grin) and we are going by the 6(ish) weeks she said but no 100% sure. Does that make sense?? So I wouldnt worry because I think under 8 weeks is it they have difficutlty giving a true date reading.

I am also not telling anyone at work until I've had my scan and the bloods and got all the results through... just easier that way I think. Ladyg well done you for getting it over with, because I'm sure folk here just think I'm getting fat and feel sorry for me as I've been going to slimming world for 18 months and all my hard work is going down the drain tee hee

MrsChemist · 17/01/2011 12:05

My mum guessed yesterday. I didn't drink any tea, was nearly sick in Asda car park, and I've got fucking horrid sinusitis and my dad was practically forcing beechams down my throat. I kept saying I just wanted paracetamol. My dad asked why, and mum said "because she's pregnant."

Ho hum. They know not to tell anyone. I'm stuck in the hunger/sickness loop again and I need to get up and make DS lunch, but my sinusitis isn't helping things one bit. I feel so miserable Sad

SMummyS · 17/01/2011 12:14

Thanks all, feel a bit better about it now, just annoyed they told me one thing and wrote another in my file.

3 weeks 5 days to go till my scan :)

LittleBeaut · 17/01/2011 12:32

Aw bless smummy sounds ages away dont it?? But it will fly by I bet chicky.

Oh so I know what I forgot to tell you all!! After mum fulling faces when anyone mentions baby and how nice it would be for me to have a girl after the two boys I have etc yesterday out of the blue in Iceland she said... "Us baby" She refered to my baby as "us baby" I swear I just stood there for what felt like ages to make sure I had heard right. I said "aw feeling a bit more enthusiastic about things than you were on Friday are you??" She just smiled... dont really know what the smile was about but think shes coming around - thank god.

I tell you what suddenly entered my head then driving to work this morning... this baby is mine!! Unlike my boys who go to their dads on a Saturday for the night this baby is all mine and I wont be sharing it - how weird is that??

SMummyS · 17/01/2011 12:43

LB I'm pleased your mums coming round to the idea. I'm telling my parents after my scan so I have 4 weeks to work out how to tell them Grin

Cadmum · 17/01/2011 12:52

Hunger sickness loop here too...
The exhaustion is killing me as well. 4 dcs +my parents has been too much this week.
I will try to have a proper catch up here.

I am in Cambodia. Nuchal scan would need to be done in Bangkok. I cannot be sure that I am that keen to have it done. I would not terminate. If I opt out, will issues be picked up at 20 week scan (assuming I even make it that far since my odds might be less than 50%)?

bunnyfrance · 17/01/2011 13:09

Oooh, MrsChemist I've got horrible sinusitis too, it keeps me awake at night and I'm sleeping so badly because of it. Plus I have DS who wakes at 5am every morning...the joys!

Cadmum, they can pick up issues at 20 weeks and if you wouldn't terminate, would it be worth the hassle going to Bangkok?

littlemissw · 17/01/2011 13:38

OK, so maybe the gerkin & fried egg sandwich I had for lunch was not such a good idea ... Hmm

LittleBeaut · 17/01/2011 14:02

Hmm nah I can imagine not littlemissw haha Grin

Ok so has anyone got this today... I'm getting really cross but my boobs are throbing like mad but really itchy at the same time. Like really really itchy Blush sorry if tmi!!

CappuccinoCarrie · 17/01/2011 14:03

Wow that took a while to catch up! Had a busy weekend of trying and failing to potty train DS. I don't want two kids in nappies (did that last time) so we'll try again around easter when he'll be 2 1/2.

ROFL at all the food stories! I'm just really fickle Blush. Made DH take the cheesy doritos out of the cupboard because looking at them made me hurl, then we had guests over on saturday night and I suddenly demanded he get the doritos out as they'd go really well with what we were eating, he looked at me in a kind of you-don't-know-what-you're-saying-lunatic-woman kind of way. I loved eating them that night, but now the very idea makes me feel sick again. My meat pie addiction seems to have passed, tuna mayo is favourite now but of course you have to be careful not to have too much of it. I'm glad to be back on liking chocolate, that was a weird christmas not liking my favourite food group!

Booking in appt this friday morning, but still need to sort child care for the DCs, normally DH works really flexible hours but this Friday would be a nightmare for him to try and take time off.

littlebeat so :( about the problems with your mum. I know my mum won't allow herself to get excited about babies til I'm properly pregnant and big and well past the miscarriage risk stage. My dad hasn't even said congratulations, just made sarcastic comments about us needing a bigger car.

mrschemist I got an amazing beconase nasal spray for sinusitis, and its safe in pregnancy (was prescribed it to stop me having an alergic reaction to my friend's cats when I was pg last time and couldn't take piriton) but I also snort it at the first whiff of a cold and it keeps symptoms at bay. I'm normally very prone to sinusitis but haven't had a single attack since having the spray. Could be worth a try?

Sorry for epic post, will try and be better at keeping up Grin

Annie456 · 17/01/2011 14:31

Couldn't wait any longer...have booked a private scan at lewisham hospital for the crack of dawn tomorrow morning.
I don't need it to be anything sophisticated, just want to know if there's a heartbeat..(and how many!) think it's a trans vaginal scan which I assume is safe at 8weeks??? Anyway, fingers crossed ladies, will report tomorrow x

MrsChemist · 17/01/2011 14:34

Thank you Cappucino I'll ask the doctor about it when I go to see him. It actually got so bad last night that I noticed my right eye was swollen and a bit bruised from the pressure. It's not as bad now, but still quite unpleasant.

I do have saline nasal drops in the house, do you think they would help?

CappuccinoCarrie · 17/01/2011 14:48

Its worth a try mrschemist! I've also tried a saline nasal irrigation before which was minging but effective.

Just ate saturday's left over fajita filling. Delicious at the time, revolting taste in my mouth now. Maybe an orange cream quality street will help?!

SMummyS · 17/01/2011 14:49

Annie I had one at 6w they're safe, you may get a bit of spotting after but that's normal apparently

GrownupsLikeQuiet · 17/01/2011 14:55

Hello all, I'm a lurker - can't keep up to be honest. Just got my dating scan appointment for 4 Feb, but the MW at my booking appointment thinks my EDD is 27 August. Suits me, I'm hoping to cross my legs and get us into the new school year Grin.

nickstermum · 17/01/2011 14:59

annie bit bizarre they are giving you an internal scan at 8 weeks?

Have just devoured a big mac followed by the daily iced buns! Hmm have decided i am not quite fat enough and seeing as i am not going to be announcing anything, had better eat more so people start to notice! Grin

Annie456 · 17/01/2011 15:14

I dont think theyll pick anything up on a normal ultrasound this early...anyone know different?

nickstermum · 17/01/2011 15:21

Yes, i had an 8 + 5 normal ultrasound about 3 weeks ago, external. Usually they use a dildo cam for earlier cases, but not always. If you scroll further up the thread, i think it was ladyG who made some really good points, sorry cant remember what they were now...!

Good luck :)

MrsChemist · 17/01/2011 15:44

Hope your scan goes well Annie Smile

I've just got my first appointment with my MW booked for the 4th of febuary Angry I'll be bloody 11+5 by then, so sod only knows when I'll get my scan.

Teladi · 17/01/2011 15:48

Annie, good luck with your scan! Wishing you the best.

I enjoyed reading all the posts about what you're all into eating. Unfortunately I haven't found whatever it is that I like eating yet!! I'm still off everything! I'm 9 weeks today... so hopefully not long now til I start getting into food!

LittleBeaut · 17/01/2011 15:48

I had a normal ultra sound scan at what they think was 6 weeks. I saw heart beat on what looked like a prawn (mmm... prawns), they said they couldnt give me a definate date as it was too early get be able to get measurements but you could defo see what you wanted to see x
