x-post with running and you have every sympathy over the toenails! It took me FOREVER to take the copper glitter colour off yesterday in preparation for my pedi and purple glitter colour today! And have a lovely (if busy) day tomorrow!

i think from now on we should make it mandatory to log in in morning and evening!

i can see me having contreactions and making DH log on to tell you lot! ha ha!

SaraL77 · 25/01/2011 21:08

yes pootle I've thought about buying one of each too but think that it'll just be weird if I buy a girls outfit and it ends up being a boy- I've already got tons of boys clothes from DS1. I keep thinking its a girl, not sure if this is because I'd like a girl- first time round it didn't matter but now although I'd love a boy, this is my last chance to have a girl! But as I found out with DS1 it's the personality that is more important than the cute clothes you can buy!

talk of these sweeps makes me cross my legs Shock just finished watching OBEM and memories of my first birth have come flooding back. When do 'sweeps' usually happen? I'm seeing MW next at 40+2 so don't know what she'll have planned- last time I didn't get to have my last appointment as DS was on time.

CupcakesHay · 25/01/2011 21:24

Yeah - i'm seeing m/w at 40+4... and feel a bit the same sara - although I think i might be calling her on the tues, which will be 40+2 (and my "declared day I want the baby - 1st feb) and beg for a sweep!

I don't know if i'll have another baby after this one - so it might be my last chance to sweep! Grin

So have all of you non-sex knowers bought neutral clothes, or have you bought bare minimum and planning huge shop after the birth?

saltnvinigarcrips · 25/01/2011 21:27

ffs another person has posted another old wives tale on my facebook wall!!!! You are not original and I didn't invite the advice. I hate that everyone says 'have sex' assuming that you've stopped since being pregnant. And yes i've had pineapple and raspberry tea!!! Angry

Is anybody else finding helpful texts and facebook wall posts extremely irritating. I very nearly deleted said person from friends. Surely I must be about to go into labour if i'm this pissy. Usually such a lovely girl :)

CupcakesHay · 25/01/2011 21:47

aaah - bless! I must admit i posted on a girl's Fb wall the other day, who i used to go to school with - but being pregnant too, i think it's allowed! But making a mental note to leave it alone now!

You know, i'd never heard of the pineapple until meeting you lot. Not that that helps, as i detest most fruit, inc pineapple! but seriously will consider forcing some raspberry tea down myself next week - as long as I can get to steak-on-the-rocks next saturday - oooh and maybe 1 more pub quiz... Smile

travispickles · 25/01/2011 22:15

Well, talking to MIL on the phone, suddenly felt major leaking again. Have been back in and this time is definitely waters but no contractions so back home to go in in the morning for induction if no joy. Weirdly, the MW did an internal and said she couldn't reach into cervix, having been told 2 cm this morning she commented "She must have been really rough!" So that explains the difference between one sweep and the next Shock

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 25/01/2011 22:19

Very exciting travis although your bungy-jumping cervix is a bit odd!! :) Likes to keep you on your toes. Best of luck if it all goes off tonight :) :)

gallicgirl · 25/01/2011 22:22

Even the MW said pineapple and sex. I can manage the pineapple but not sure I have the energy for sex. Raspberry leaf tea just helps with contractions. It is damn annoying though when everyone offers friendly advice. I'm like, really? Oh I didn't know that cos it's not like a 1000 other people haven't suggested it!!!

Surely you can't be much longer travis if waters have broken. I really hope it all kicks off overnight for you but if not, good luck tomorrow.

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 25/01/2011 22:27

And if these were all foolproof ways, then they would be prescribed on the NHS (well, maybe not the jiggy part, but all the rest).

My MW told me the curry thing is bollocks but may have sometimes worked if it sets off rumblings which then set your uterus off - same as if you have stomach ache or diorrhea (sp?) may set things off.

She does swear by nipple tweakings though to help soften the cervix (not to bring on labour necessarily, but to help ripen the cervix). This makes scientific sense to me though as one to try. Bit weird playing with yourself though while trying to watch the Gilmore Girls Wink.

CupcakesHay · 25/01/2011 22:28

Ooooh go travis Woo-woo! Look forward to hearing some news soon - and hope it all goes well and they find your cervix Grin

BTW - I don't think i've ever typed the word cervix as much in my life. The "x" key on the keyboard is practically worn out!

And you're MIL will be dining off that story for months!

I have officially had my first FB post form someone asking if there was any sign of baby! But a very nice friend so didn't mind. And she was asking about the high chair too - so i'll forgive her!

Ryuk · 25/01/2011 22:30

Just checking in. :)

I've been having lots of raspberry tea and chocolate. (Because chocolate totally encourages labour. The baby told me so. :) ) Apart from some weird sensations that felt a lot like braxton hicks, but mildly more sore, no progress seems to have been made. DP has decided they're not contractions as we keep being told contractions usually hurt - I've pointed out that for some people they don't, but aren't actually sure myself either way, so ho hum.

Also has anyone else found themselves swaying from side to side a lot? I keep doing it whenever I stop paying attention. Had a friend over earlier and she pointed it out, asking if it was a labour thing, but I'm figuring it's just caused by impatience!

Ryuk · 25/01/2011 22:33

gallic, that's what the spooning position is for!

Ryuk · 25/01/2011 22:34

and travis, yay! Here's hoping things start progressing quicker (but not any quicker than you want) from now. :)

RockLover · 25/01/2011 22:35

Hi ladies.

I've been watching Discrict 9 our current Lovefilm, gross but very interesting. I just had a bowl of frosties, I couldn't resist but now I'm feeling a bit sicky. I think it's because I'm so bleeding tired, the crap sleeping and getting up early for the school run is killing me.

It's my DNephew's 1st birthday on the 2nd of Feb, but I have no idea what to get for him, he already has too many toys from Christmas and I'm sure everyone else will get him clothes. Will have to really wrack my brains as I need to order it and get delivered to my parent's house asap.

Feeling very fed up this evening for no particular reason and a bit off-colour, think it's just being hugely pregnant and ridiculously exhausted. Ah well, I'm obviously being trained for the sleep deprivation a newborn always brings with it :).

RockLover · 25/01/2011 22:37

OMG, crossed post. Fingers crossed for you travis, good luck!! x

saltnvinigarcrips · 25/01/2011 22:50

Feeling more cheered up after watching 'my big fat gypsy wedding' Love it Grin

good luck for tonight/tomorrow travis. Here's hoping it's quick and straightforward :)

CupcakesHay · 25/01/2011 23:17

rock i think frosties aren't suage, but sweetner so you'll be ok with them. And can't help on bday pressie.

Hi ryuk nice to see you - well, not really cos it means you haven't had baby, but you know what i mean Wink

Couldn't watch Big fat gypsy, cos my dad wanted to watch footie and we needed to sky plus silent witness. Ho-hum. I bet it was lovely and gaudy! DAMN!

No swaying from me ryuk but i have noticed myself doing the whole "pregnant walk" - you know where you waddle along with your hand on the bump. Noticed myself doing that today - and was a bit Blush!

Also - i forgot to tell you - my mum put 3 pairs of my trousers in the washing - leaving me the option of going to my beauty appt in pyjama bottoms or ankles swinging jogging bottoms! classy... so i went in them and spent the time walking from car par kto place pulling them down and then pulling them back up cos it felt like they were falling down and then remembering they were swinging away so trying to readjust them - god i looked a state! Blush

RIGHT - off to bed. Hope everyone has comfy nights unless contactions start and then hope all ok. And hope we get to hear from AmI and I hope all goes well for travis.

CupcakesHay · 25/01/2011 23:18

sorry - suage - i meant Sugar. DOH!

Ryuk · 26/01/2011 03:45

Ok, fairly sure I'm contracting now. Mini-ryuk keeps reacting by shoving his feet at my ribs though. :(

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 26/01/2011 07:45

Ooh good luck ryuk ! :)

Roll call for me. Boo :(

Fuzzywood · 26/01/2011 08:01

Roll call for me too, now 9 days late which was when DD arrived so fingers crossed it'll happen today.
Hope it's going ok Ryuk and that things are moving for you too Travis.
DD packed off to nursery so back to sleep for me zzzzz

Pootle78 · 26/01/2011 08:12

Checking in! Due date today - nothing!

How exciting travis and ryuk let us know as quickly as possible what's going on (obviously having a baby!)

So I am seeing 8am for the first time in weeks, no plumber yet :(

First pay on mat leave yesterday and I think I have been under paid so need to go into work and get my pay slip and work out what's going on, not like I've got anything more important to do!

Right, off to have my shreddies ...

OP posts:
travispickles · 26/01/2011 08:40

OW ow ow - don't know how am going to cope when this gets wosrse! Waters gone - back to hospital now to see whether to be left to go natrally or induced. Will let you know asap

RunningKatie · 26/01/2011 08:41

Roll call for me too, just having my second breakfast as yet again I had the Weetabix urge at 6.30am.

V proud to report I had no gaviscon last night - whoop de whoop. However, I still have no baby either. I've had a chat with the bump about the remaining days left before s/he gets smoked out and got kicks for Tuesday, this better not be scientific, I don't want to see week 41....

Exciting news about waters breaking Travis and contractions for ryuk. Hopefully we'll have some baby news soon.

Right, off to be a lady that drinks a lot of coffee today. Catch you all later!

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 26/01/2011 08:49

We've got to have some news from somebody soon - these 'late January babies' are taking the 'late' part a little too literally!!

Poor you with the contractions travis - think that each contraction is one contraction closer to meeting your baby!!! :o

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Envy but obviously very :) for you too Hmm
