New thread here for those final few weeks (fingers crossed!)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Fuzzywood · 25/01/2011 15:02

You're forgiven Pootle absolutely right to blame any mistakes on baby brain Smile.
DH is working from home today which is nice because I'm getting waited on but he's also driving me slightly mad as he's really restless and doing a bit of pacing. Honestly anyone would think that he's going to have to go through labour!
Sorry to hear you're not well LadyB especially on your birthday, least they've caught it though and hopefully you'll be on the mend soon.

RunningKatie · 25/01/2011 15:06

Forgot to say, I've also been back on teaspoon cleaning duty - how do they get so gross? Must put dishwasher on my list of requirements for our next house.

Also looked at the grill pan, realised that the lovely DP probably hasn't introduced it to the washing up bowl recently. Given that he's been brilliant throughout I'm keeping very quiet and just doing it.

Fab roundup Cupcakes, I'm beginning to think note taking is mandatory.

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 25/01/2011 15:10

My DH asked me the other day if I thought baby might come that night. My calm and collected response was "how the fuck am I supposed to know? what a fucking stupid question. fuck off" [bblush] [bgrin]

Just had a lovely pub lunch with my mum, did a bit of (boring supermarket) shopping, catching up with you lot and emails, and about to snuggle back into bed for an hour or so before the littl'uns descend!

TEASPOONS!! you are funny runningK :O

Crystylline · 25/01/2011 15:11

not crying, but i am a right grump! the tiniest thing is making me grouchy and snappy. i'm even annoying myself Grin

love that all the easter chocolate is being gorged now and not in april (and that the shops are weird enough to stock it so early).

i've been industriously making soup, which looks like baby food . no room in my freezer for it either katie

another excuse to just keep eating?

MW due any moment, but no reason to psyche myself up - she's never done an internal and not likely to either. so, guess i'll have a while longer to find out how well behaved my cervix is!

fuzzy your poor DH! men are so funny around preggers women. i think they just go on some mad autopilot of worrying, when it's not as if they can really do anything. in some ways as the person giving birth, being a woman might be better (may regret saying that!), as at least you know/experience phyisically what's going on. the poor old bloke just runs the risk of winding you up or fretting himself into a puddle of jelly - completely unable to do a thing.

RockLover · 25/01/2011 15:51

Lady sorry to hear about your infection, my dsis was in the same boat after she had her c-section and it made her miserable.

If it's any consolation, I managed 5 days breast-feeding with DD. Then with the pain from my c-section scar, bleeding nipples and the discomfort from an open wound where I was allergic to the c-section dressing, I had a meltdown as I couldn't cope!

I ordered my mum to Tescos to buy bottles and milk and that was it, DD was a formula baby and she couldn't have been happier. And contrary to stupid news reports she is not overweight and is in the top stream of her class (not that I'm showing off or anything lol). So no need for guilt at all.

Cutting down on sugar is doing my head in, baby REALLY wants some (he told me), but I am trying to be so good. There is cake, chocolate bars, Frosties and biscuits all calling to me from the kitchen, I can hear them. Grrrrr!

I only have 2 days til I'm due and I just know nothing is going to happen by then. I am destined to be very overdue, I can feel it in my water.

Oooh and nearly forgot to mention, I'm very jealous of your newly beautified feet cupcakes. Mine are minging with loads of dead, flakey skin; poor midwives when I go into labour!

SaraL77 · 25/01/2011 15:55

Pootle and Katie don't get me started on OBEM- recorded last night (as DH refuses to watch it) so I'm all set for a good cry tonight whilst he's out swimming- I blub EVERY time a baby is born without fail!

lol, Noladybut your response to DH made me laugh out loud! i feel really angry too sometimes when I'm not busy crying! Everything annoys me! God it's so exhausting being so emotional.

freezer full here too- was going to make soup too but at this rate will need to buy another freezer to put in the garage...

anyone else not know what the sex of their baby is going to be and is it driving you mad? I've become obsessed by it!

CupcakesHay · 25/01/2011 16:11

Me too sara - i laughed sooooo much at bubba's comment that I told my parents. I think they know everyone on here as much as I do!

And i am SO pleased that i found out the sex of baby. Originally didn't want to, but Dh did, and thought i'd better let DH take control of something Hmm for once! And he's so crap at keeping secrets - thought i may as well find out - and now very pleased.

But maybe best not to mention surprise sex of baby to bubba after her secret got ruined ofr her Angry afetr the stupid scan people told her it was a ....

And running i HATE not having a dishwasher. I am in heaven here - but when i go back to syria, it'll be washing up for me. UGH! And i knwo what you mean about minging teaspoons. I think Dh just "dunks" the, clean.

Maybe we should try adn ban talk about chocolate, etc. in sympathy of you rock.... i mean, I don't think any of us could actually give it up Grin but just not go on about it so much? not long now though.

Ok - shall we take bets on if DH remembers my donuts? He does have a tendency to be forgetful, and to tell teeny white lies - so if he turns up and says it was shut - it means he forgot. Oh well - on the plus side i'm going to McDonalds tomorrow for lunch. Also got a chinese and a curry take away menu - and went through them with a pen last night - highlighting the things i wanted - and i think i'm leaning towards having chinese on thurs night rather than curry. Even though i know curry might bring on labour - i was dreaming of sesame toast, seaweed, duck, ribs, rice, black bean sauce..... mmmmmmmm......

Love the full freezers - good for you girls! Although no idea what you can do with the pie running - eat it for dinner? or see if your mum has room in her freezer?

Pootle78 · 25/01/2011 16:34

Cupcakes text him now to remind him and keep texting him til he phones you up and asks you what flavours you want, I thoroughly recommend the glazed rings and may need to put in an order with my dh before the end of the week!

bubba you are a star, who's going to keep us entertained when baby bubba finally appears, much to your dh's delight!

Good to see I'm not the only one who filled my freezer, although had to throw the vegetable tangine away becuase it smelt disgusting there was no room in the freezer!

Sara we don't know either and whenever we see something really cute to buy, dh is now saying, let's buy one of each and then we can return the other! Haven't done this yet, but I know my mum has knitted a pink and a blue jacket (as well as the white and yellow ones!) and will produce us with the right colour when required (tomorrow baby pootle?)

Obviously my pregnant rant worked as I have a new plumber coming to the house tomorrow morning, the only bad thing is he will be here at 8am! Do they not read MN? I don't do before 11am, so will be a grump tomorrow!!!

Cupcakes you will be pleased with me, I am just catching up on last nights Glee!

RobynLou · 25/01/2011 16:44

hello, we don't know the sex, didn't find out with dd so felt we should do the same this time, I'm dying to know now though!

v impressed with all the freezer stocking up you're all doing, I'm barely managing to produce meals for now, let alone think about once the baby's here, so long as we have plenty of fish fingers for DD to feast on we'll survive!

DD was born a day past her due date at 19.25 so in less than 3 hours I will officially be more pg than I've ever been before!

saltnvinigarcrips · 25/01/2011 17:12

Well i'm back from having my first sweep. It was uncomfortable but hopefully it'll yield some results. My cervix is nice and soft - tick; and I am 1cm dilated- tick and my cervix has started effacing (?) - tick.

Here's hoping I will go into spontaneous labour tonight although feeling slightly drowsy so maybe not just yet and I have another sweep booked for Thursday.

Sorry you are feeling rough ladyb. My friend had a c-section too and she is on her second dose of ab. Hope you feel better soon.

Right, time for a snooze - all that poking around has made me a little uneasy and shaky/sleepy. God I'm rubbish.

saltnvinigarcrips · 25/01/2011 17:13

Ooh, I also don't know the sex and can't wait to find out. Was tempted to ask today when the doc was looking at it on the scan but managed to control myself :) I keep doing the gender predictor tests. Still, it'll be the biggest surprise we will ever get when the time comes Grin

CupcakesHay · 25/01/2011 17:48

Have you all been putting rings above your belly on a bit of string to see which way ot swings. Isn't it circle for boy - and swinging for girls?

Well - I hope very well that by the time i come back from Plymouth station tomorrow, stuffed on donuts and McD (and with DH in tow) I hope i don't see fuzzy, bubba, travis, salt, pootle, rock, running, robyn and the rest of you. Well - maybe a few of you could stay and wait with me Grin - or maybe eke out your labours over the next couple of weeks so i won't be all alone.... but def you girls who are very uncomfy.

I have a feeling that my bump might be here for a good while - and although i'm not panicking yet - i don't hold out much hope for sweeps/curries/long walks/nookie/jumping up and down/praying - or anything else actually working!

I'm rather uncomfy and unpliable tonight -and I can def feel for all of you overdue ones - and all you sweepsters!

Ooooh and pootle fab idea on the texting Dh constantly until he remembers the donuts.

And evil plumber pootle - you should scudder his day by making your waters break right near him - and then he'll think "Ooooh - there's a leak - bugger, where's that coming from" - and then he'll be hunting and you can be smug knowing there's no leak, it's you all along! Of course, the timing is key to this cunning plan!

And i've been good and havn't watched any of new season glee Shock i'm saving it for when i go back to syria and have the choice of watching cooking shows or sport! it'll be like a wonderful treat!

Right - dinner..... we're having a naughty dinner - Scampi with chips and (of course!) PEAS Grin mmmmmm.... peas!

Fuzzywood · 25/01/2011 17:51

We don't know the sex either, people keep asking me what I think it is, seriously how the f* would I know?!? The fact I'm 8 days overdue ought to give everyone a clue I have no control over this baby.
Just had my daily call from my parents bless them. They live a couple of hours away so are getting very excited and desperate to meet the DGC. Fortunately they are the make tea kind of people rather than expecting stuff to be done for them so they'll be helpful to have around.
Impressed with all the food making, we've started on our post baby stuff already oops.
Cupcakes make sure you pester your DH lots to get your donuts.

CupcakesHay · 25/01/2011 17:56

Aaah fuzzy love your comment about not controlling this baby! I'm sooooooo going to be grumpy if I get to 8 days over!

And love that your parents are the wonderful kind of visitors. I'm secretly a bit worried that because i'll be at my parents, and I know we'll have MIL, Dh's uncle & Aunt visiting, as well as 2 sets of my friends (all staying at B&Bs thankfully) - but i'm worried my poor parents will be running around making cups of tea, etc...

travispickles · 25/01/2011 18:12

Hey Salt - how unpleasant was the sweep? I had to grit my teeth, it was so unpleasant. I sat in shock for about 10 mins after... and felt a bit queasy too.

gallicgirl · 25/01/2011 18:21

I am so glad I live 200 miles away from my family, as helpful as they are.

Apparently I have a lovely cervix Wink
It's soft and stretchy and 2-3 cm dilated. The MW didn't think it would take much to induce if I wanted to. Don't want to so she's arranged to put the induction back to the original date next week. Going to see my MW on thursday for another sweep and hopefully baby will arrive in the meantime.

Katie what do you do to your teaspoons??? Try one of those gentle scourers.

cupcakes enjoy your doughnuts tonight. I did text the DP this afternoon to bring me a double decker from the fridge. I just couldn't be bothered to move.

Chilli and sweet potato for dinner, cooked by DP Grin Grin
Chilli powder content determined by DP Shock Shock

Crystylline · 25/01/2011 18:28

well MW just been and gone. sweep booked for next week.

my weirdy shaped uterus is causing bump to be in a funny position; shoulder wedged in the left of my pelvis and bum stuck up on the right, so he's all diagonal. he can't move to vertical properly because my uterus is indented/bicornuate. might cause problems in labour. ho bloody hum. might also mean i'll be late/induced etc.

ah bollox.

off to have a nice warm bath and beg bump to be good and healthy.

come on bump!

gallicgirl · 25/01/2011 18:50

Wouldn't it be better to be induced early Crysty? Might mean there's more room to manoeuvre. Let's hope bump behaves.

RockLover · 25/01/2011 18:52

Jealous of all you ladies with promising cervixes, I am just too chicken to have a sweep as I am already a bit sore inside (as I was with DD),so I want minimal internals.

I've just had chicken salad for dinner, with tomato flatbread and hoummous. I have cheated a tiny bit on sugar and had 2 digestive biscuits with my (sugarless tea). I have decided that cutting down is good enough and that cutting out is impossible.

I feel very tired tonight after my shopping expedition and lack of sleep last night. Thinking about having a bath, but I may just lie on the sofa and try to have a nap instead.

I have to go to the supermarket at some point to buy some yummy food for Thursday as it's DP's birthday and DD is insisting we have a party. So I'm going to do pizza and a tray of warmed tortilla chips with salsa and melted cheese over the top. I am also going to attempt (note the word attempt) to make him a birthday cake.

Thursday is also my due date, but I am ignoring that as I am pretty sure nothing will happen. :)

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 25/01/2011 18:58

I slept for 3 hrs this afternoon!! So much for the 'hour or so' I promised myself.

Have read all posts but in between running in and out of bathroom checking my children haven't either drowned or thrown ALL their bathtoys across the bathroom. So, no note taking from me, but I've been pleased for well-performing cervixes, laughed out loud at collective grumpinesses, wondered whether I should have been on commission for Krispi Kremes, and felt sympathetic for many of you with your funny-shaped uteruses/annoying MILs.

Going to go and scoff some choc because baby's been quiet while I've been asleep (normally it kicks me awake in the afternoon), so need to kick it into action with choc.

saltnvinigarcrips · 25/01/2011 19:23

Yes travis I was deep breathing all the way through and made a few pathetic 'oww' noises. DH who was behind the curtain stated after 'that sounded unpleasant'. No shit darling :) but tbh after seeing a sweep on OBEM from last series I thought it would be much much worse.

Not sure if it'll work. Got home and had a nap and some back pain and lower abdominal pain but it seems better now. Just waiting for my jacket potato with beans and cheese now...

Will pop in later to see who's contracting Grin

gallicgirl · 25/01/2011 19:32

Mine wasn't that bad. A couple of ouches but I think I've had smear tests which were worse. Luckily the MW was pretty quick with it.

RobynLou · 25/01/2011 19:44

sweeps seem to be very different for everyone, I had one with DD and it was hideous, but I think it was too early really, so my cervix wasn't impressed!

RunningKatie · 25/01/2011 20:48

I am not looking forward to the sweep, I'm hoping that by being 40+5 by then my cervix will want to cooperate. Will have to enlist DP in the meantime in more coating.

Just tried to take nail varnish off my toenails and then trim them. Jeez, that really was a bit daft of me.

Gallic, I was whinging at DP earlier about all the emails/texts I've had asking whether I've had the baby yet. So, he emails me from the sofa to ask if I've had it yet. He so nearly got his laptop up his nose.

No idea what we're having either Sara, I've always thought it was a boy but whenever I think about sending out an email announcement I always insert the girls name in. Ah well, fingers crossed the lazy little one arrives soon.

Just in case I miss tomorrow's roll call, I'm out in the morning having coffee with a friend, then seeing my mum then going to coffee with NCT girls. It's highly unlikely this baby will have appeared! Wink

Cupcakes - enjoy the krispy kremes seeing DH, don't neglect us too much!

CupcakesHay · 25/01/2011 20:56

OOoh -sweeps a plenty still! Def going to ask for one just so i don't miss out Grin And i really want to know how great my cervix is! So it's not recommend Dh watches?

And gallic Dh not here til tomorrow - so i'll have the anxious wait for my donuts him at the station! Wink

Ok Blush i've stuffed myself with too much food tonight - I had dinner and then a cup of tea and then a HUGE slab of chocolate fudge cake. Baby's trying to squirm, but there's no room - and he's digging in at stupid angles - although not as mad as naughty crysty's bubba

rock how about half cheating on the cake and make a non-bake cake - either rice krispie (like Lady buzz does) - or cornflake cake? And then you can just smooth flat, cover with chocolate and stick a "A" on it in white choc buttons.

Ok - i have been a STAR and found a MILLION free knitting patterns for my mum! I managed to find Alice in Wonderland, Beatrix potter, the most amazing noah's ark, bob the builder - and millions more. All for free! My mum is sooooo impressed with me So baby cupcakes will have a million knitted toys to play with!
