Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LadyBuzz · 12/01/2011 09:20

bubba you have my sympathy DS1 was 16 days over and I started to tell people that yes actually I had given birth I just didn't care enough to tell them Blush I was VERY grumpy!
Fingers crossed it will be soon for you though.

Welcome breastmilk

Well everything is going swimmingly here, the f*ing fridge freezer has stopped freezing and the washing machine is making dying noises - WTF??? Now is not the time.

I make a big dam in the bath, I let some water out to replace with hot last week and was most surprised it went so quickly - Until I noticed ALL the water behind me was stuck Grin - I even shouted on DH to come and laugh - I am a whale Grin

I'm feeling a bit achy and uncomfortable today, don't suppose it means anything but its more then I ever felt the first 2 times.

I also must find my monitors - I have the plugs for some reason but nothing to plug them into Hmm

saltnvinigarcrips · 12/01/2011 09:21

Ha! I only think about that place in terms of i'm so glad i'm not there atm. This term is the worst in terms of parents evening and bloody PIPs so I personally couldn't have timed it better Grin
Well I've been having lots of sexy time with my DH and again last night so here's hoping I'll get some sign today. Tbh i'm getting a bit bored as it's not like I have anything to do other than clean and sort. Can't do anything exciting as not enough energy or inclination so would rather it just made an appearance. Plus daytime tv is rubbish and I've finished my book :(
Any ideas as to what I can do folks? Difficult too as everyone I know bar one person is working so it's not like I have lots of coffee time...

cyberfairy · 12/01/2011 09:22

Yesterday was my last day of work and last night I slept better and now feel better than I have in 9 months and could easily go back to work for another week or so. Feel like I'm skiving! Had a lovely baby shower and feel I really need that nesting urge as house is a mess and baby room still looks like spare room but just fancy wafting around the shops. Due on the 29th and determined not to be late-going to get some more pineapple today.

saltnvinigarcrips · 12/01/2011 10:00

I'm going to waft around the shops too cyberfairy. Do it before you feel too knackered to do anything but sit on your bumbum.

Just want to redress previous statement. There is one good thing on daytime tv and that is 'Moving down under' on BBC1. However, I am bordering ridiculous as I have cried for the 2nd time watching it. Right, must go shower.

RunningKatie · 12/01/2011 10:11

I've just switched on the tv for Homes Under the Hammer, I got slightly addicted to it a few years ago when I had a month off work with glandular fever. That'll teach me to have random snogs on holiday! Wink

Got coffee afternoon with the NCT girls today, just checked FB and there's no sign of any babies appearing. What are these January babies all doing?

I've got a birthing ball, although it's actually just a gym ball from Decathlon, and I've got a monitor because DP bought it with his airmiles! I'm not sure we'll need it as the house isn't big but I think I'm being a paranoid first-timer.

CupcakesHay · 12/01/2011 10:15

Morning all - just munching marmite and drinking tea.

Nice to see you back cyberfairy - remember to update the charty thing - and very nice to meet you breastmilk - fab name Grin

Very Angry for your stupid freezer ladybuzz

I had lovely sleep last ngiht - first "comfy-ish" one for ages...

Poor you gallic getting stuck in the bath - panicking def makes everything feel worse.

And no baby...tsk bubba i was expecting you to have "graduated" overnight.

My bumps pretty uncomfy today - but going for a drive down a country lane and then a bit of a meander down the delights of newton abbott. Currently my shopping list is written on my hand!

Oh - and Envy of you salt with sexy time with DH.... i have to make do with a "do you love me" "yes" on the telephone! Smile

Right - i'll check in later, when no doubt they'll be a million messages for me to read - unless you all log off RIGHT NOW and IRON (yeah - i said it!) Grin

gallicgirl · 12/01/2011 10:20

Our house definitely isn't big Katie but you'd be surprised how hard it is to hear over the tv sometimes. I'd rather have the peace of mind.

Glad to know I'm not the only idiot who gets stuck in the bath Blush

Poor bubba with your mum. I had to tell mine that just because I didn't reply to every text immediately or I didn't call her, it doesn't mean I've gone into labour!

I feel your dilemma salt. I don't watch tv really and 24 hour news has it's limitations. I do have a couple more books to read and luckily there is a LOT of films in this house. I was bought a box set of Brothers and Sisters last Christmas which I haven't yet watched, much to my DPs disgust, so I have to watch that before he never buys me another dvd again!

Got MW coming at some point this morning but there's no sign of baby arriving. Hope you have good news soon Bubba.

RockLover · 12/01/2011 10:47

Oh the joys of Newton Abbot Cupcakes lol. Actually if you're heading that way could you get me Subway as I'm rather partial to them! :)

I am currently lazing about and doing sod all, DP and I have decided to tackle the cleaning out of the bedroom this weekend. I will do the washing up later, although I know there's loads more I could be doing around the flat, I just can't be arsed. Think I might give the bathroom a good going over later actually.

I keep apologising to DP for having been so lazy throughout this pregnancy and I've promised to make it up to him as soon as I can.

Crystylline · 12/01/2011 11:01

Morning all,

sympathise with the dodgy freezer lady b - why is it that things break at the most inopportune times?

gallic i've not got stuck in the bath yet, but i've been worrying about. now bathe with the door open... just in case!

salt nesting/tidying seems to be my daily routine. today it's the bathroom and a bunch of random unpacked boxes from when i moved house a few weeks ago.

that and my car went to the garage this morning... really hope that it's not an expensive problem. However, I did remember to ask them to disable the passenger air bag, so that I can put the car seat in the front.

i also had a yuck night's sleep - heartburn and D+V, so sofa time is going to be found as well.

and welcome breastmilk

Fuzzywood · 12/01/2011 11:43

Morning and welcome Breastmilk
That's rubbish about your freezer LadyB, hope you can get it sorted.
No movement here, the only pains I'm having are in my shoulder blade which is making sleeping even more troublesome (at least that's my excuse for still being in my pj's at this time of day.
May venture out in a bit though if I can get my bum off the sofa.

RunningKatie · 12/01/2011 11:55

Crystlline - sofa time sounds like a necessity.

Fuzzy, well done for still being in your PJs, I suspect if the DP didn't work from home I'd be doing that! :)

Oh, lunch duty calls, then I need to text my sister to tell her to hurry up and buy this baby a changing matt. You honestly wouldn't believe it could be so difficult, I've spent a fortune on her kids over the years, and she's pleading poverty. I might have more sympathy if I didn't know she'd gone out drinking both Friday and Sat eve.

Crystylline · 12/01/2011 12:24

oh katie! A changing mat is about £6-15. I'd be very miffed.

car is going to cost a fortune. oh joy.

RockLover · 12/01/2011 12:30

I'm really, really thirsty atm, is that normal? I'm drinking pints of squash or water at a time. Starting to worry about the GD thing again!

gallicgirl · 12/01/2011 12:40

mmmm not sure, I've drunk more liquid than usual but not excessively. It will show up in the urine test when you next see your MW, won't it?

MW just left and all ok. Suspect baby will be a while yet though as she can't decide which way she is going to lie (ie; which side) and is still moving lots so not sure if head is engaged unless she's spinning like my sister did! At least MW is willing to wait til I'm a week overdue before considering stretch and sweep.

Sorry to hear about your car Crystylline. Hope it's at least fixed quickly. I think today is going to be a good day for lying on the sofa and eating chocolate biscuits.

mimou hope your sis is ok- what a time she's having.
breastmilk hello there!
running I have 2 sisters and the little one is being fabulous and the other is being rubbish- didn't even come to my baby shower at the last minute!

OBEM was interesting viewing! The teacher in me immediately thought 'definitely on the spectrum' about Ralph. Bless him tho for being left to his own devices when she was wheeled off. And that ginger woman scared me at first and then I thought what the hell when she was still screaming after the epidural and saying she couldn't feel anything?!?!

Also, good news is - turns out I'm capable of taking a swab that's able to be sent to the lab. Bad news- said swab showed I'm positive for Group B strep. I phoned to chase up results of urine infection (or so I thought) check yesterday - lucky I did or I'd still be waiting for results! Midwife phoned back and said 'it's shown up positive for an infection we don't treat in pregnancy. Are you at home?I'd like to discuss it in person so that you don't panic' Cue lots of panicking! Luckily hubby was wroking from home so was there when she came up too. I'm a bit gutted but reassured after talking to her (first time ever!!!) I've got to present at hospital earlier so that I can have high dose IV antibiotics at the beginning of labour and every 4-6 hours during (so let's hope not too many times as that will mean I've had a long one!) Then have to stay in for 48hrs after birth (boo! but necessary) for them to monitor little one for symptoms.
Any of you had any experience with this? I'm thinking it's a good thing that they at least know about it in advance and that it only becomes serious for tiny percentage of babies. But it's still an extra worry.

AmIGoingMad · 12/01/2011 12:47

Also- found out yesterday that my maternity cover had been telling my classes to bear (?) with her as she doesn't know where they are in the course as I've just gone on mat leave and not left anything!!!! I wrote notes the lenght of bloody war and peace as handover notes, did the photocopying she'd need for the next two modules, gave her me resources on pen drive and went in on INSET to check that she had no other questions! GRRRRR! Angry
Have spoken to my Head of Dept to make him aware but I'm so annoyed!
Have also been having shooting pains in my side since yesterday!

Right- sorry girls! Rant over and some sort of serenity returned! Needed to get it off my chest! Smile

Crystylline · 12/01/2011 12:53

rock i drink a lot of water and have done all the way through. think i read somewhere that the fluid around the baby needs replenishing and regular hydration is v. important.

so, not sure it's a massive worry, but as gallic says check with MW.

Crystylline · 12/01/2011 12:58

AIGM that's a complicaiton you could no doubt do without, but good they've got a full care plan for you and they've spotted it now.

I haven't had or been offered a strep b test. is that normal?

sorry, i've got no advice to offer.

mat cover sounds like a nightmare. i'm trying not to think about work, but have had mails from clients getting their knickers in a twist because I'm not there and they want re-assurance. I know the person covering is good, but she's not an expert in my field, so i can't help but worry a teensy bit.

travispickles · 12/01/2011 13:02

AmIGoingMad - am also a teacher and my cover is also complaining that I didn't give her seating plans, despite (like you) providing her with extensive handover notes and resources. She is also going ito my colleague's classroom and asking her to come and settle the groups so she can move onto the next exercise! This is an apparently experienced teacher!! Anyway - it's not our crap to deal with now :) When do you go back btw?

AmIGoingMad · 12/01/2011 13:05

Normal not to have had test- they don't screen for it in UK although you can pay to have it done by sending away to private companies. I just mentioned some discharge (TMI sorry!) that was a funny colour so they got me to do a swab to check for a urine infection and it just happened to show up on that which it doesn't always apparently.
I'm feeling better about the mat cover now that I've spoken to Head of Dept. Its just annoying to think that the kids in school are being told that I pretty much thought sod them when I'd actually spent so much time on it. Hopefully they know me well enough by now tho so I'm just going to try to forget all about work now and focus on getting myself ready for this little one to arrive. Maybe you need to put an out of office automatic response on your email to give you the chance to try to switch off too. That way they'll get the idea but you can still reply to those you really feel the need to?

Also just realised- I keep saying little one like I'm hinting at the baby not to be too big- if only that were guaranteed to work! Grin

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 12/01/2011 13:06

Oooh, AIGM I'd be Angry too if I were you - I did a massive handover booklet to my last maternity cover who was taking over as HoD and he didn't even bloody look at the thing. He quickly showed his true colours though and got booted out!!

Poor you with strep B - no experience of it here, but sounds like the MW is on top of things?

No cleaning here - just been to Kingston to get myself a sewing box Hmm and realise I am now officially OLD >sniff<

House is a tip and, like you Rock, I keep apologising to DH about my uselessness. Think he's used to it!! Hmm

Crappy cars crystyll - check they're not taking the piss though and saying everything needs doing when it doesn't actually need it.

RunningK your sister's mean! Tell her she's stressing you out and all your MN friends tell her to get her arse into gear and get you a bathmat!

Crystylline · 12/01/2011 13:11

thanks guys.

there is an out of office, but they all have my mobile, fb, private contact details... silly me!

bubba you are not old because you bought a sewing box!! I sew as well and love it. I actually have loads of little sewing projects to do atm and being at home more makes it possible.

AmIGoingMad · 12/01/2011 13:12

x post sorry -wasn't ignoring you!

I'd love to have the full year but think we might just about survive financially until around Oct half term- with lots of belt tightening (not something I'm familiar with in either sense at the mo Smile) and a mortgate break- fingers crossed! How about you?

AmIGoingMad · 12/01/2011 13:19

My house too is a tip! I keep moving things around depending on the room I think people will see!Blush
Have just cleaned our hob but then stopped as I was getting those shooting pains so thought it must be baby's way of saying- ok sit down now and chat on Mumsnet. what a good baby! Grin

gallicgirl · 12/01/2011 13:29
Grin

I'm doing a bit each day depending on energy levels. Today I WILL mop the bathroom floors.

I need to sort some things out too as we still have Christmas presents hanging around.

I'm rather glad that work can cope without me but also a bit concerned that they might think I'm unnecessary Shock

I wonder why they don't routinely test for strep B when it seems to be treated so aggressively? Weird.
