Smile I can only imagine how much of a nightmare being overdue is. I'm dreading it - and like you say running you might be blooming - but you're at that stage where you just want your baby! Would you want it coming on your birthday or would you hate that?

RockLover · 27/01/2011 11:47

I mixed the cake all wrong according to my Mum so I haven't got enough air in it I think. I'm baking it anyway, but expecting it to be as flat as a pancake. Bummer!

I am feeling hideous at the moment, ate normally this morning despite feeling a bit ropey and then had an upset tummy again. Now have constant stomach-ache and feel sick, I've also had what I think are a few BH (haven't had any before now) where bump has gone tight across the middle a few times.

I am feeling very panicky as well for no good reason and have been feeling shakey every so often (which accordimg to my pregnancy book is fairly normal in the last few weeks, something to do with the hormones apparently). I really hope I feel better later because I need to get to my mw appt and at the moment I feel too shite to go.

Bloody pregnancy!!!!!

Crystylline · 27/01/2011 11:54

rock sure the cake will be fine. he'll love it even if it isn't perfect. it's a scrummy pressie for him.

can you phone your MW and get her to come to you instead? mine did when i couldn't get to the surgery.

morning cupcakes and katie

Bh/tightenings... whatever i'm calling them lol have gone again. as soon as I drink a coffee and eat, they bugger off.

it's weird and annoying.

just want to get labour out of the way and have a baby!! is this too much to ask after 9 months of being fat, unwell, irritable etc etc lol.

RunningKatie · 27/01/2011 12:01

I'm already a bit hmph about being an eldery primagravida Cupcakes, so would like to be able to say I had my first at 35 rather than 36! :) That said, it doesn't really matter as long as s/he comes out all safe and sound in the end!

Rock, you sound like how I feel, hope you make it to the MW ok. Pancake cake is fine, just slap loads of icing or something on it.

Just looking for nursing bra's online. Am perplexed by the whole need for matching undies anyway, but why on the Figleaves website so they have the maternity knickers modelled by girls who so very obviously aren't pregnant?

I think I need to calm down a bit! :)

CupcakesHay · 27/01/2011 12:03

I agree rock - whatever you give DP cake-wsie and he'll be happy.

I feel very sorry for you - you haven't had a ncie pregnancy at all!

Are all us Devon girls online cos it's sooooooooo cold outside?

I srtill cna't believe you haven't had your baby crysty - i mean you lost your plug months ago!

to make you a little Envy i just had a cookies & cream donut! But on the downside, sitting here with period type pains....

I'm not worried yet - but i can see i'll be getting desperate to have baby this time next week if i haven't had it!

LadyBuzz · 27/01/2011 12:08

cupcakes i'm far too nosey to stay away Grin

We are in good company with the krispy kremes Abby Clancy was pictured in the Sun yesterday buying some!

RockLover · 27/01/2011 12:12

Don't be down about period pains cupcakes, it means the uterus is limbering up, even if labour hasn't started your body is starting to prepare. At least that's what I tell myself whenever I get them lol!

The cake seems to have risen ok, so I am half hoping all is not lost and DP will have someting half decent to eat on his birthday.

Would mw come to me just because I have an upset tummy do you think? It's so difficult to get appts with them, I'm not sure they'd consider it. Oh well I'll just have to see how I feel later, I've still got to pick DD up anyhow, no matter how awful I feel. God, I hope I don't have to go through labour feeling like this, not sure I'd cope!

Buggeration!

CupcakesHay · 27/01/2011 12:39

I have no idea if m/w would come to you rock - but you can only try?

Just think we can meet in RL - in about 4-6 weeks and we'll have lovely little boys and we would have forgotten about the whole entire crap and ill feelings will be but a distant memory (probably be too busy focussing on lack of sleep and sore nipples!) Wink

CupcakesHay · 27/01/2011 12:40

Oh - and thank god you are nosy buzz!

how is kali? And how is your awful cut and infection?

RockLover · 27/01/2011 12:46

That will be lovely cupcakes, I really can't wait for this to be over and feel better!

I also can't wait to meet my little boy, I wonder all the time what he will look like and how different he will be from DD. DP has pale skin and blue eyes and I am pale with green eyes, but DD is olive skinned with brown eyes as her Dad is spanish. So think this little one is going to be a blonde, blue eyed baby, so him and DD will look like negatives of each other lol.

saltnvinigarcrips · 27/01/2011 13:11

argh, they both sound beautiful rock. I don't know what i'm having but I keep picturing a blonde baby boy. Both my dh and I had white hair when babies so here's hoping although we were both born in sunnier climates so not sure if that has anything to do with it Confused

rock I feel the same as you. have a mw appointment for another sweep at 3pm but can't be arsed to go as feeling knackered (just got up from another long nap) and also think I am in early stage labour anyway. Not that i'm having contractions or anything but just feel generally poopy and crampy plus bloody show continues to appear at regular toilet intervals so not sure whether another sweep is necesssary? Maybe i'm just kidding myself. Right, need to put some clothes on as my friend is on her way round.

Really need to do an online shop but keep thinking I can't as what if i go into labour and then they'll be noone here for when it is delivered. Just had a ham sandwich and a glass of apple juice - yes i too am very very bored which is why I felt the need to tell everyone about my boring lunch :(

Crystylline · 27/01/2011 13:17

rock i agree, you can but try and get MW to come to you. you've been feeling rubbish for ages, so don't feel you're being difficult. you need support and hopefully they can give you a bit more TLC.

i wonder about my bump too... don't all babies start off with blue eyes? I look like a cross between trad english rose - pale-ish with reddy/brown hair and in the summer, v. spanish - tan easily, and the maternal characteristics in our family tend to be v. strong - boys and girls all look v. similar.

all quiet from travis, bubba, ami... babies here or on their way? i do hope so!

Fuzzywood · 27/01/2011 13:19

So that was an interesting visit to the mw, she did another sweep and it appears it might have made my waters go, hurrah!
TMI alert she thinks that the fact that I've been a bit constipated and my bowels aren't empty it means the baby can't move down enough. She's coming around in while with a suppository or enema to get things moving. Hmm another interesting new experience provided by this pregnancy lark!

Crystylline · 27/01/2011 13:27

fuzzy ooh exciting! (not the enema bit tho).

funnily enough (TMI) i just managed to empty bowels and bump dropped considerably too. sounds like i need to just keep eating roughage!

and yes, cupcakes i have been hanging on for ages (feels like it anyway). on the one hand, very happy that have had a few more weeks for bump to grow and put on healthier amount of weight... on the other... bit concerned that the reason he's now late is related to his spectacularly bad position and bracing myself for a tricky labour as a result.

honestly, i wish they'd spotted the problem with my uterus much earlier, so i would have understood all the problems. looking back now, it makes complete sense, but i've worried so much.

ah well, i'm lucky he has gone to term - many women who have bicornuate uterus (from what i've read) have prem babies because there's far less room to grow and they are breech a lot too.

think i might go alphabetise my books/cds or something equally silly to take my mind off of silly niggles. (is that as bad as hoovering curtains or polishing teaspoons?) Grin

RockLover · 27/01/2011 13:29

Ooh fuzzy we could swap; your constipation for my dodgy tummy, we'd do each other a favour Grin.

Aww salt I don't blame you for not wanting to go to see the mw today, maybe you can just take it easy instead, especially if you're in the early stages.

I have to see mw, because I am presuming we need to discuss what happens if I go to far over. I have asked for an elcs if I go more than a week over, just need to know if they will agree to this (consultant suggested the idea to me and said it would be no problem).

The majority of babies movements are now very low down, so I am presumimg he is tucked in quite well. I can also feel alot of his squirming and wriggling in my bottom, I'm hoping this is a good sign.

Fuzzywood · 27/01/2011 15:13

Ouch, think things are kicking off around here.
Oh and I've also managed to go to the toilet (without an enema phew).
Will report back if any more movement Smile

Crystylline · 27/01/2011 15:16

ooh. it's exciting labour day!

go on girls! let's see if i can join in too! lol

Pootle78 · 27/01/2011 16:05

fuzzy how exciting! Keep us up to date, although as much as we aren't your priority, it's nice to know how you're getting on!

Those that Have been to The midwife today, fingers crossed it has got things moving.

rock how has the cake come out and has the great decorating started?!

The bathroom is still leaking :(

Well h has worked from home today and taken me out for lunch (although I now feel sick from over eating the pizza hut buffet!) He has also promised to drive to The nearest kk supplier (40 mins away) which he said was the least he can do - he's right there! He just needs to do it now!

CupcakesHay · 27/01/2011 16:41

Ok - getting beating up for being boring here for going on mumsnet (by my dad!) - so scan-read posts...

Hope it's started FINALLY fuzzy - and i'm a bit constipated too - so good to know.

Hope your DP is having a nice day rock and hte m/w and urine and everything went OK - and maybe take a pic of the cake!

Angry pootle stupid plumbers. And loving your DH (is he back to be darling yet?) for both the lunch and the KKs!

finding it harder and harder to bend down or do anything - so can only imagine how awful you overdue girls are feeling. Def think baby is proper at bottom - apart from his looooonnnng legs which I think he has no hoice with but sticking them into my ribs and here there and everywhere!

Right - better go - have to play cards with parents and DH. I swear they're more excited about him being here than I am Grin

Off for chinese tonight - sooooooo excited - been drooling over menu!

LadyBuzz · 27/01/2011 16:49

oh pootle bloody plumbers!

It sounds like a few people are kicking off nicely now!

Kali is doing well, although she very much likes to be held through the day but she is very good at night so I am not complaining at all.

I got my ABs this morning but they aren't compatible with what the hosp gave me for pain so I have to wait til tonight to start taking them when the pain meds are out of my system - back to good old paracetamol for me!
Hopefully will see an improvement in a couple of days! I'm sick of sitting on my ar*e Grin and I only have DH til Monday then i'm flying solo with 3 DCs!

RunningKatie · 27/01/2011 17:12

Poor DP, have just been in tears asking him whether he thinks baby will arrive this weekend, I just feel so tired and rubbish today. Part of me can't wait to go into labour so I can meet this little one at last, but the other part just wonders how I'm going to cope if I'm tired and feeling pukey.

Exciting to hear that things are finally kicking off for people :)

Am going to drape myself over the birthing ball and think positive thoughts for tomorrows sweep - please let my cervix be all ripe and ready for action.

gallicgirl · 27/01/2011 19:05

Hi ladies. Really sorry but there's too much to catch up on to respond to everything that's gone on today.

OK, I'll try to answer questions. I used TENS machine but found it was a bit useless after a while and the boost function seemed to exacerbate the pain. Used gas & air once the MW let me. She tried to hold off until I was crying that I couldn't do it anymore so it was more effective! I didn't have a water birth but I did get in the bath for a while which was really helpful. I was 8cm dilated by that point and it was a struggle to get so many people in our little bathroom. I was examined again when I got out and was 10cm dilated so MW broke my waters for me as they hadn't gone by that point. It was then a lot of very hard pushing, screaming and swearing until baby appeared. I had a very small tear and 2 stitches which is somewhat uncomfortable.

It was lovely and relaxing being in own home afterwards and midwives were fabulous. Even had a small glass of champagne after everyone had gone and I was in the bath. Today I feel pretty battered and bruised but DP has been amazing. Struggled to get baby latched on until MW came again this afternoon but wasn't worried because baby had had such a lovely long feed last night.

Oh and she's called Alys May and weighed 7lb 2.5oz.
I'm going to have a rest as I'm feeling very battered and bruised and running out of adrenalin.

Hope all your lovely babies arrive soon and I'll try to catch up better when we're more settled.

Crystylline · 27/01/2011 19:25

gallic

well done! sounds like bloody hard work, but how wonderful to be at home and to even get champagne afterwards - in the bath no less!

love the name as well.

katie you'll be fine. sending positive thoughts your way.

just had a lovely nap and bump has been wriggling about - he'd gone all quiet earlier.

bath tub, curry and crap tv are on tonight's menu.

hope everyone else is well - pushing, feeding or relaxing x

Fuzzywood · 27/01/2011 19:49

Gallic I had stitches last time and found that tea tree oil in the bath and arnica tablets seemed to help a bit with the dis-comfort. Sounds like you did brilliantly. Lovely name, hope you're enjoying cuddling your DD.
Still at home here, contractions seemed to be getting more regular but have tailed off a bit again which is rather annoying, hopefully it'll get going properly soon.
Hope everyone else is doing ok x

Pootle78 · 27/01/2011 20:54

lady glad the ab's have arrived fingers crossed you'll be up and walking about with Kali v soon

running sending you big hugs, I think the not knowing of the date of when baby arrives causes more stress and worry

gallic thank you for writing up your experience and what a lovely name and a glass of champagne sounds great!

Hope you are enjoying the curry crystyl I'm watching relocation, relocation!

fuzzy get walking or bouncing on your ball, don't ket them contractions disappear!

And forgot to say earlier, naughty cupcakes for missing antenatal class!

Well pizza hut buffet came back up :( and h is now in kitchen making me toasted sandwich, had said he would get kk's tonight if I wanted them but have said I'll wait til Sat and baby arrives in mean time I'll have 12 doughnuts in the bag!

I'm sure I'll be checking in tomorrow morning see you then!
